Local gem! They carry a large selection of chocolates, truffles, candied apples, gifts, and a about 6 different ice cream flavors. All the staff that I've interacted with were friendly and eager to assist. They'll pack up the chocolates in a nice gift box and wrap it with ribbon. The chocolate covered apples are delicious! For Mother's day they decorated the apples with "Happy Mother's day" and flowers. I love chocolate nuts dipped apples and my husband got them for me from this shop twice. The quality is just decent (both times, the apples were small and not as sweet anc crunchy, there was only a thin layer of chocolate/caramel and the nuts weren't as fresh. My favorite place to get these is Champagne & Chocolate in South Lake Tahoe. Their apples were big, sweet and crunchy and the nuts were always fresh.) The things that took away my enjoyment from this place: both times, they didn't cut the apples. It was such a mess trying to cut them at home. And the red ribbon they use to close the plastic cover was extremely hard to open... Will have to find another place for the real yummy chocolate dipped apples.... read more

I was raised on See's candy, my Grandma was a chocolate dipper for See's in the 1930's. Every dinning room I'd wander into as a child, I'd find a silver or crystal dish filled with See's. No other could surpass it for taste or consistency. BUT Danville Chocolates does that. It's as good as See's, even better on some counts. Love their Orange/Raspberry Sticks covered in Chocolate. Whenever I'm anywhere near the store, I'll be dropping in. Chocolate is always good, this is Premium. PS: When I go for a bag of See's Bridge Mix on my lunch break in SF, it was $3.00lb. They said, long ago, they had their first price raise due to the Speckles Sugar Strike in Crocket. Umm that strike, in the 60's has been long over. Seems the price now is $24.75/lb. I had lunch across the street at the Italian restaurant and saw this chocolate shop with a line outside. I thought this spot must be good if there's a line. What a huge selection of chocolates! Chocolate gummi bears bark. So good. Dark Chocolate almond caramel grizzly amazing the caramel had a saltiness to it. Fresh taste. Chocolate covered orange peels. Loved it! Chocolate covered cherries. My goodness ! Nothing a miss. Also got a caramel peanut apple. Sooo good. I already want to go back and I'm not even done with the batch of Chocolates I got. Such a great spot! Came here to pick up some chocolates for my son's teacher as it's one of her favorite spots. Ended up special ordering some apples for all the teachers and room moms. Danville Chocolates is an amazing hidden gem. If you have not been there you need to go and choose from the most amazing chocolate selection which is always made fresh. If chocolate is not your thing there are so many other delicious sweet treats. The owner Jacqui is so passionate about her business as she is always there to say hi and help you choose your favorites. The staff is also very friendly and seem to enjoy being there. This is the 3rd candy store to open in Danville over the last 2 years (The Candy Shop and Bittersweet are the other two). This shop took over a men's clothing store that moved down the street and has totally remodeled. The sign on the window indicates truffles, ice cream and caramel apples. What it doesn't say is that the shop is inviting and full of great stuff-chocolate covered strawberries, almonds (and other nuts) sugar free chocolate, other candy Double Rainbow ice cream and hand dipped frozen cheesecake, bananas and ice cream bars (with or without nuts). As for the caramel apples- I remember about 8 different types and ALL cheaper than what we saw at Disneyland. Daughter got 2 truffles, her friend 2 truffles and me, a chocolate and caramel almond thing called a "Grizzly". The 5 candies ran a bit more than $7.00 (pricey) and were decent, but daughter still holds Chocolatier Blue as "the best of the best". I hope this place makes it-parking isn't great in this area but they do have a great selection and take all forms of credit cards. read more

We wanted a little sweet nibble after our great Thai meal...so we checked this place out. The selection is great, and since the caramel apples were a hit with many, I tried a kind of inside-out turtle...caramel, and nuts with a chocolate disk on top. The caramel was buttery, melt in your mouth....wonderful. I was a bit less impressed with the chocolate...just did not stand out. Once upon a time it was every girl's dream to live in a little white house; THIS adorable little white house comes filled with ice cream and chocolate, and candy - oh my! Danville Chocolates is actually located in little white house on the edge of old town Danville with four black wrought iron tables out on the front walk. There's even a dog bowl filled with water out on the front step; and people walking their dogs up the street stopped on their way in so that their dogs could have a sip (it's 104 F out today, uncharacteristically hot for this area.) Walking inside, you're immediately on sensory overload; the walls are all covered with brightly colored candies and you feel like you're lost in the Mary Engelbreit painting Life is a Chair of Bowlies, bright colors everywhere. There is a very long glass covered display case full of every kind of chocolate truffley goodness imaginable. I selected dark chocolate covered cherries to try. I say cherries, because in each piece there were three cherries covered by a thick layer of dark chocolate. That's it; chocolate and cherries, no gooey white layer betwixt. Simple. Tasty. Perfect. I also decided to be brave and try the sea salt caramel marshmallow puff covered with chocolate. The sweetness of the caramel and chocolate contrasted nicely with the salt; the fluffy lightness of the marshmallow with the dark heaviness of the chocolate was a constant delight to the tastebuds. I didn't try the ice cream on this particular visit, but I visit Danville often so I'll save that for my next trip. Called in several orders of chocolate dipped strawberries, including a vegan pack with all dark chocolate, and a couple variety boxes, around COB on Wednesday last week. They were all available for pickup the next morning when they opened. They were actually just finishing making my order when I walked in - super fresh chocolate-dipped strawberries. I also ordered several boxes of truffles and they were beautifully boxed while I waited. I passed out the gifts to co-workers who were in the office on the day of my 10-year work anniversary. Everyone loved them and said they were delicious. Especially the strawberries. Service was as sweet as the berries. They were a wonderful idea, reasonably priced, beautifully packaged, and very appreciated! read more

Danville Chocolates offer a vast assortment of chocolates and other sweet little goodies. The firs time I came here I had the chocolate covered marshmellows, smores, truffle, the grizzly, an almond nut cluster, fudge, and their version of a peanut butter cup. The grizzly was really good (chocolate, nuts and caramel! yum!). The truffles were very decadent and melted so easily in my mouth. The chocolate covered smore is just like a smore but unfortunately the mellow isn't melted, but it's just as good. I've had their rocky road and that is worth giving a try also. And how can you not like a chocolate covered strawberry! I would pass on the fudge, peanut butter cup and chocolate covered marshmellow...they weren't as good as their other stuff.
