The owner picked up the inner workings of our antique grandfather clock from our home in October 2024. He stated he would be done in December, January the latest. When we contacted him in January, he stated it would be done in February, etc. I don't believe he was even working on the clock until I told him we were done & were going to pick up the clock. He didn't even know who I was every time I called or which clock was mine. July 2025, we said enough is enough & asked him to put the inner workings back in the clock. He refused. We ended up coming home with them & had to figure out how to reassemble them in the clock. He had our clock for 9 months & it was never fixed. read more

We brought a clock home from Argentina. It had belonged to my husband's grandfather and although I t hung on the wall of his parent's home all his life, he never knew it to work. As a surprise, I took it to Danville Clock & Watch Repair to have it looked at. They told me that could fix it! Was so happy to be able to give it back to my husband on Father's Day in working condition. Best surprise ever. Clock repair seems to be a dying art. I'm so happy to have found this wonderful shop. Took a clock in to have movement replaced, but before taking it in I marked the movement to ensure it would be replaced. after being in the shop for 3+ weeks we finally got a call that it was ready. My wife picked up the clock and brought it home. I looked at the movement and my marks were still on the movement. We went back and confronted the owner. I told him what I had marked the movement with a permanent marker (even brought the marker), and we demanded our money back. He said the marks were on the new movement, which was totally impossible. The owner is not truthful and should not be trusted with any type of repair. Take your business elsewhere or save your money! read more

i'm writing this review as I am not sure what to do my mother passed away November 2021 and I inherited a beautiful 1800s grandfather clock when I moved it to my house it appeared not to work properly and I researched and found Danville Clock as a very reputable person to take to. The frustrating part is that I've had my Clock sitting at Danville Clock since December 2021 and the owner informed me that it would take several months to redo the entire clock as it was old I was very patient and all I cared about was to have my moms clock back in my house gave me an estimate that it would be done by March I called him in March and he formed me that he needed a couple more months to fix it to call back in June then June came along and he still has not even started the job and then formed him that I could give him till July and then when July came I still haven't had time to look at my clock and then he said just give it to me till December 1 and then I will have it down for sure well I just called him today December 10 and I feel he has not even tempted to look at my clock I am just confused on what to do because it seems like every time I do call him he doesn't appear to be working my clock is supposed to be delivering the clock this Sunday, December 18 and if he has not have a time I'm not sure what my rights will be to do I just don't like feeling by two when he has not even really put much effort into fixing my clock or making me a priority I just pray on my clock gets back here that it will work like a champ I miss having it in my home and having part of my mom in my presence. I can't lie I am getting quite pissed off and not sure what to do! All I can say it better be done on December 18th A frustrated customer! read more

Always been my go-to for watch batteries in the past. Drop of my watch and I'd go shop at TJ's, come back and the watch would be ready. So when my watch was losing time I figured it had been awhile since I'd replaced the battery... hoping they'd be open. Sure enough, doors open! In addition, he lost cap that had come off and wouldn't stay on, which essentially was the repair. Advice if you have a expensive watch DO NOT TAKE it to Danville Clock and Watch take it to a certified dealer. Brought in Seiko for battery replacement. Watch a solar and capacitor gone out. Owner said he could convert to battery. Would order part. 2 months later no part, still working on it. Claimed watch in parts. With claim check took 15 minutes to find some of the parts. Refused to assemble watch, said to leave and he would fix!!! Shop repair area in a complete disarray. My husband took his Omega ring (which matches his watch band) in July 2022 to be repaired. It needed a pin. Since after 6 months the owner had not found the pin, my husband asked him to just return the ring. The owner couldn't find it. From then on each time we've gone, he says to give him another week to look for it. After more than a year we started to pressure him. Going every week to ask for it, and the answer was always the same. The owner has offered no resolution and refuses recompense payment. Now that we have said we have no option but to deal with this on a legal basis, the owner has started to say that he probably gave it back to us. This is a blatant lie. Very happy that this establishment fixed our 60 year old Anniversary clock. It languished in another clock store (Watchworks, WC) for 2 years with zero communication from them. So, 4 stars for fixing and not 5 because it took some prodding by my husband to get er dun! ***Update*** Clock has stopped working. For $425., we need to take it back. Took my fairly expensive watch in to have battery replaced. Owner lost one of the screws while replacing the battery and said he would look for it. When I called to follow up he asked me to come back to the shop so he could remove one of the other screws in the watch so he could look for the matching screw that was lost. I did this, and when I called back to inquire about the screws he informed me that he had lost BOTH screws. At this point I decided I wanted nothing to do with this business. I took the watch to San Francisco for servicing and to replace the two screws, which cost $28 each. When I informed him of the cost to replace the screws he said he wouldn't charge me for the battery. What an huge waste of time and an incredibly frustrating experience. I would not recommend this business because they are extremely disorganized and don't seem to care about the work they do or the inconvenience they cause their customers! I had these guys do a complete service and overhaul on it. It was pretty expensive....as expected since my watch is pretty expensive but the item was serviced on time and they were in constant communication with me throughout the process. "Caveat Emptor" at this location never was better advice. Several weeks ago I had an old watch band repaired $60.00 yes to replace the pins "all of them I was told" 2 weeks later 2 more fell out. They fixed it begrudgingly. Yesterday another fell out. Left it and came back. Another $30.00 to replace 1 pin. Granted I didn't ask how much so that's on me. Nice enough but sort of a rip off IMO. I support local businesses and wish them well. Just ask before you trust. His answer next time "buy new band". That would have been good advice several weeks ago. This clock store is right near Trader Joe's and I cannot even tell you how many times I have passed by, parked in front, or thought about going inside over the past few years of living in Danville. I finally bit the bullet last week as I have had a clock hanging on my wall that has been stuck at just before 8:00 the past year and a half. It is a decorative clock and I have had it for at least 12 years. I bought it when I was living in Phoenix at a consignment shop and the clock itself was made in Berkeley so I knew I had to have it then and I knew that even though with new batteries, even though the pendulum still swung that I was going to have it fixed someday. This store is packed with old clocks big and small(possibly some new ones too). The owners are a husband and wife team-he fixes she deals with the rest. It took about a week to fix my clock which was their estimated time. He put in a new piece and it works like new. The clock repair itself seemed a bit costly-I paid as much as I paid for the clock to begin with. It works perfectly now and they guarantee their work for 1 year. They also fix watches and any timepiece. Cash, checks and Visa/MC accepted. read more

There was no customer service, no good feeling you get when you go to a shopkeep that cares about their customers. Took my Accutron in for a battery replacement...yeah, the new battery started working the watch...however, a day later, I returned to advise my watch was not keeping precise time and was running very fast... The owner told me that he would clean it for me for $135, have it ready in a few days, and that would probably solve the problem...if not he would need another $90 to replace the tuning forks... After a week went by and I heard nothing, I went to the shop and got into WORDS with the wife of the owner as to the status of the repair...by the way, the husband never seems to be there...she put me on her cell phone to speak with him...he promised to have my watch ready in three days...I picked the watch up...paid the $135...a day later, the watch is now running very slow??? I'm now out $25 for the battery replacement and $135 for a poor repair...do yourself a favor and avoid this shop and it's owners at all costs....I would never set foot back in this store to be bilked out of more money for broken promises, mediocre craftsmanship, and poor service. Unfortunately, I was lured to this store by searching Yelp under: DANVILLE CLOCK(S) AND WATCH where the few scant ratings are 180 degrees the opposite...appearing to show this shop as a pillar of the community...Come on Yelp..you need to review your posting policies to be sure a business like this is not dually listed on your site, not only causing confusion, but costing me, and others considerable time and loss of money for shoddy business practices. They cleaned and greased the lock and had it ready for pickup when they said they would, and their price was very reasonable. The owner of this store was so helpful in moving packing my grandfather clock. He build a box for the chimes and prepared the clock for being crated. He was slow but got it done. I came in without reading reviews. I had a Movado watch that didn't fit my wrist. He told me to get the links from Movado and he would put them in for me. I liked his conversation and I came back in with two other watches...I was called and given a quote to clean and repair one watch for $146. The other needed a battery and crystal. I was under the impression that the links for the Movado were simple and would be included.... the battery and crystal would be $75. When I came in to pick up the watches, the envelop they were in had the estimated prices scratched out with a sharpie and new prices written over them. My final bill was $324.75. Should have been $225.00 Seems they don't keep, or honor, their estimates. Plus they charged sales tax on their labor.... And I was told I was lucky that he had the movement for the one watch...WTH??? Very disappointed as I am old school...meaning we should all keep our word...and I want to support local business....but I can't when they can't keep their promises. We inherited a grandfather clock--and were so disappointed when we couldn't get it to work. But Ed at Danville Clock & Watch Shop made a house call and now it's working beautifully. We were thrilled! He also gave us advice on how to use it (the chimes could be set to turn off at night) as well as for its upkeep. And did you know he also repairs jewelry? When he was here for the big clock, I showed him a watch that another jeweler in Danville told me was not only irreparable but it wasn't even gold. (Now I knew it was gold because of the gold imprint on the inside!) Ed said it was a lovely GOLD watch and he could fix it. And he did. I guess no surprise. I should have looked at the other reviews. No service. I am surprised they stay in business. Took my Omega there about 6 months ago - had a bracelet issue. Left it there, agreed on a follow-up 3 days later. Not having heard from them two weeks later, I decided to stop by. Nothing had been done. I took my watch and took it elsewhere. Fast forward to late December. You'd think I should have learned my lesson. I thought I'd give them another chance. I have a replica Panerai that was having movement issues. Left it there late Dec. 4 weeks later, no follow up, no call, nothing. So I called... the lady simply said her husband was busy but would call me back in 30 minutes. The owner took the watch in the back, no mess with paperwork etc. He was done in less than 5 minutes. $21.50 for a battery change. A bit expensive as I paid $12 the last time at the jewelry store on the same street... but when I went there they wanted me to leave the watch until Wednesday (today is Monday).
