Bacon was fatty but also crispy and the country fried steak was crispy with lots gravy. I'm not really a gravy person, but this is the best gravy I've ever had-- thick and delicious. The only plate I didn't care for much was the lemon ricotta crepes. Maybe it's just me though because I believe it's a fan favorite. My friend got a veggie burrito that she really enjoyed. This is a great spot ! 3 of us dropped in at 10:30 for breakfast and only waited 20 min. The staff was amazing, our server was so nice and vibrant, with a great attitude! Heather was her name. I had the Denver Omelet and biscuits and gravy and friends had frenzy toast which had frosted crunchy flakes on both sides! This was a great find while driving through Pinetop. Darbi's was highly recommended from different sources and I also recommend it if you're grabbing food in town. The offering of chicken fried steak drew me in to check out this place and it fully delivered on my expectations. Crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. A fluffy dinner roll was included and went great with whipped butter. I was really impressed with the green chili corn chowder from the soup & salad bar. We honestly wouldn't know where to start when it comes to the crunchy tradition French toast. It is by far the best French toast we have ever tasted. I would solely come to this town and come here to just eat the French toast is good it is. They take French toast and roll it in and frosted flakes or some kind of flakes. It has the perfect balance. Truly all the food here is incredible. We've been to this restaurant many times now and always walk out very satisfied. Whenever we come to the white mountains we come here for breakfast. As we own a house in Pinetop and try to get up somewhat frequently to enjoy the white mountains we stopped in today (Sunday) to have breakfast. Now if your a local or have been up here enough to know if you don't get there before 8am your in for a long wait. We waited 1:15 today and arrived at 9 but we were in no hurry and knew what to expect. Parking: always an issue but they have as many spaces as the land will hold and usually people leaving will allow for spaces to open up so you can get in. Ambiance: it's a standard setup but a bit homier than most. Very farm style and a bit dark but the new renovations they've done have allowed for a bit more room and easier checkout. Food: this is what you come here for. Breakfast or lunch is equally amazing. Stevie boy is my favorite skillet and the kids love the French toast with berries and cream so there is a bit of everything for everyone. It's a must if you are in Pinetop so make a point to go - its well worth it! read more

Breakfast was the most delicious, healthy options I have had in Pine top while vacationing over spring break. The staff are friendly and bring your food fast. It was extrmely but wait time was quick, people were dining in and out as they pass through town. Portions are large, I had a banana walnut pancake and sweet potatoe, vegetables, bacon, avocado scramble with egg whites. We plan on coming back real soon. After a long 4-hour drive from the Valley on a day trip to Pinetop that started at 6 AM, I was absolutely starving for some good breakfast food. Luckily, I had done my research beforehand and found Darbi's! You don't have to look very far and wide for it, as this cozy cottage is just off Hwy 260. Due to the popularity and small size of the place, I had to wait a few minutes to get a table, which was no problem with me as I knew this to be a good sign of quality. I was first sat at a small unassuming table in the middle of the building. I began to review the menu when my server walked up and asked if I'd like to move to a table with a window. Talk about top notch service! I felt like I had just been given a hotel upgrade from a standard room to ocean view! :D Once I was at my upgraded table, I ordered some hot cocoa, which comes with Darbi's homemade whipped cream on top. OMG was it amazing! I sipped on it while watching the snow slowly fall outside, proceeding to order some caramel apple french toast. I had seen others give rave reviews for it so of course I had to try. Never had better french toast in my life! (Sorry Mama!) The whole experience, from the time I entered the door to paying for my meal, was an absolute joy. Darbi is not only a wonderful host but a phenomenal entrepreneur and you can tell it not only in the food but in the positive attitude of her staff. Great find in the Pinetop Area. For Breakfast, lunch, and open for dinner Wednesday to Saturday. Our server Kandace was great, hubby had a chorizo omelette with home fries and I had the chicken fried steak with potato cakes... I just think the menu said 'cakes' but I got just one. Hubby was not super excited with the fries because they were not very crispy and did not look fried, he does not like them when they look like boiled (granted, they probably were lightly fried, but we need to get in the habit of asking if they are crispy while ordering). Otherwise we were very pleased, good service, good prices, generous portions, plenty of parking. Just be careful when you access the parking as the entrance/exit seemed kind of narrow. read more

We were told by a friend that used to live in the area that Darbi's was the best place for breakfast and especially their cinnamon rolls. We were told correctly. When we first arrived in Pinetop Darbi's was closed due to the pandemic impact, they opened up a day prior to us departing. This was my first time visiting the area. We stayed in Pinetop and at at Darbi's Cafe for breakfast. This restaurant had indoor seating and outdoor seating on a patio a roof. The entire one side of the patio was open with lots of fresh air to help with any COVID worries. We definitely sat on the patio. We both ordered an Eggs Benedict. I ordered a version with spinach, avocado and bacon and it was absolutely delicious. I chose hash browns as my side and shared a side of grits. So delicious. read more

2020 has been the worst. Pandemics, riots, political strife and having to constituently smell the gas coming from our "loved" ones. Just as I thought this year was a total write off, I went to this unassuming little cafe in Pine-top. We were welcomed and served by our waitress Heather...who was dressed in great detail as a Christmas elf. She enthusiastically walked us through the menu, a veritable encyclopedia of traditional cafe fare. Let me assure you, however, there is nothing typical about what we experienced. Ive spent all 44 years of my life in search of the worlds best Reuben, so naturally I wanted to try Darby's take on this less commonly loved German treat. Their homemade rye bread gently held the cured pastrami, sauerkraut, and fresh thousand island dressing. Towards the end of the meal I saw a bright light and thought I saw my great grandmother smiling. Darby's had done it. They had made the worlds best Rueben!!! My family of 6 all left satiated to an indescribably degree. They say people who work in the food industry share a unique trait of caring for others. If that is true, Darby's is a hospital, and the chefs are first responders. After eating at Darby"s I could no longer complain about 2020. It has been a hard year for sure, but it was all made worth it thanks to this gem in AZ. read more

Excellent place. It was our first visit on a weekend get away. Right next door to our cabin. We first had dinner and breakfast the next day. Had the fish fry. We liked the atmosphere!! We sat on the deck. Our kid liked the extensive coloring options on the kid's menu, along with tic-tac-toe and a maze, etc. It made the experience fun for our kid and that is a bonus. As you can see by the owner's response to my now edited review, we did have an issue. I am editing my previous review because of the swift response from the owner of Darbi's Café. She showed true care, concern and class in responding to my negative review. We will go back again and I will update about our positive next experience. We had a group of eight people on a golf trip. Darbi's was very busy, but they were able to put us all at a table together in just a few minutes. The food and service were both excellent.
