Friendly staff, big portions, country style delicious breakfast. Really family friendly and also gave us great service.

Today was my first visit to Darbi's great atmosphere, friendly and prompt staff. The food on the other hand not up to the hype. I read many reviews, and most were good to very good. We were seated very fast and once we ordered the food came out in a matter of minutes, which was nice. My fiance ordered scrambled eggs and bacon hashbrowns and biscuits & gravy. I ordered a 3 egg omelet with sausage and swiss cheese, hashbrowns and biscuits and gravy. My fiance got 4 slices of bacon with her breakfast and 3 pieces were burnt, between the cooks and waitresses those pieces should have never been brought out. They did replace two of the pieces, but still not the point. My omelet was way over cooked and brown it came thrown on the plate. It had plenty of sausage but sausage had absolutely no flavor very disappointing. Hashbrowns were good biscuits and gravy okay gravy had good flavor but it was lukewarm at best. I understand as chef myself that speed is a good thing, but when you sacrifice speed for quality that's an issue. I myself would rather take an extra couple of minutes then sacrifice quality. I'm sure not every omelet comes out that way, or every piece of bacon is burnt, but there needs to be better quality control, especially by the wait staff. If you are afraid to tell a cook the food is not up to standards then changes need to be made. As a chef the one creed I lived by is (if I would not eat it I would not serve it). I'm not sure I would try this place again, I usually give places a couple of chances though so we will see. read more

Food was awesome! Much better than my one star experience at the picnic basket. Tables are separated at a nice distance. Love the outdoor eating area. Waiter wasn't around much but it was busy and he didn't forget anything, only had to ask once. Great atmosphere. Will return. read more

We live a few miles away and stop in from time to time. When you do, come with an appetite! If you want quantity, this is the place to go. I don't think I have ever finished a meal and end up taking it home. Breakfast is what we come for and what they are known for. We've been for lunch or dinner a few different times and were never impressed. Breakfast is what is good here. Definately not the healthy option for breakfast and is high in fats, carbs and sugar. That's probably why it tastes so good. That's also why we only stop in a couple if times a year. Service is completely hit or miss. Sometimes it's terrible and sometimes it's great. Usually it's mediocre, likely due to the volume of people they are trying to get in and out. read more

Even though it is always busy, there never is a super long wait. The breakfast is great, the lunch is great as well. I usually have the chicken tenders with curly fries and ranch. The ranch is super good. The staff are always friendly and the environment is home-like. read more

The food was a tad expensive but they did have large portions on the main courses. The appetizers were very small and expensive for what you got. The food wasn't exceptional or anything to spread the news about. It was just okay. The place is cute but the roofing is lower so it's loud. We had an extremely obnoxious group of people sitting next to us and we weren't even able to carry a conversation because we were unable to hear over the table next to us. They were being abnormally loud and talking about how drunk and stoned they were, which is by no means the fault of the restaurant (and is also not reflected in my rating). I would just note it is hard to hear over others in the space. If I had a do over, I would opt for the patio seating vs sitting inside. read more

Every so often you stumble across something that simply restores your faith in humanity, in our ability to create something genuine and worthwhile. Welcome to Darbi's. Four of us decided to conquer the Epic Rides Mountain Bike Tour of the White Mountains this Fall in Pinetop/Showlow. Tippy and I drove up from Phoenix after he flew in from Seattle the night before. We arrived in time for lunch, 3.5 hour drive from the Valley of the Sun will leave you ready for bite to eat. T was already in the area and familiar with Darbi's and suggested we meet there. Thanks T! Road side diner/restaurant that really doesn't get any better than this. The service was accommodating, they have a full liquor license, they bake their own goodies and the food. . . Well the food was absolutely brilliant. Tippy started us off with the snakebites, basically homemade jalapeño poppers wrapped in bacon. They were huge and delicious! I opted to go with the jalapeño popper burger which was a half pound (!) of goodness. Excellent patty, good perfectly to order, plenty of cream cheese and freshly cut (not pickled) jalapeños layered on top. Truly a fantastic burger. Truly a fantastic business. They have numerous awards up on the wall for "Best of" and they have definitely earned them. This would be one of my go-to's if I lived in the area and I'll absolutely be back next time I'm in the area, well done Darbi's! read more

We had a wonderful, delicious late lunch yesterday. My husband ordered the fish and shrimp, I ordered the Santa Fe Salad. Plenty of food and it was brought to us soon after we ordered. But, the dessert! OMG. Black cherry cobbler with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. I managed to get a few bites of it before my husband devoured it. Eat here, you won't be disappointed. read more

We've been to Darbi's several times, actually just about every time we visit Pinetop and I'm embarrassed to say this is only my first time posting a review. We've never had a bad experience and always leave Darbi's happy and full. Darbi's serves great, hearty fare and don't think they skimp on quality to compensate for the large dishes, because every bite is better than the last! My husband and I have been planning a trip up to Pinetop for over a year but have been cautious due to the pandemic. After getting vaccinated this was our first and last thought of where we wanted to go. Darbi's was the first restaurant we've been to in nearly 14 months and the 6 hour round trip specifically to visit Darbi's was well worth it and we'll do it again soon! We have been coming up to Pinetop for several months now looking at homes and land to purchase and the very first time we came up, we decided to try Darbi's and have eaten there every time since then. The food is great, they do a really great job with their kids menu and we usually eat at a park when we order and they do a really good job of making sure we have condiments, togo silverware, etc. Everyone we've spoken with at the front has been nice, professional, and helpful. The portions are on the bigger side which is a great value for the money but you may want to share. We've tried something new every time but the highlights have been the chili dog, the hamburgers, the kids grilled cheese (my boys favorite and it's on wheat bread) and there is a chicken sandwich we really liked but I can't remember what it's called right now. If you are in town and want really good food, this is a great option to try. We've not really had a bad experience at any restaurant in Pinetop and Darbi's definitely sets the standard pretty high. The parking lot may look tricky at first but when you pull in, there is plenty of parking around the building. We haven't tried the desserts yet except for the brownies that come with the kids meals but all of the desserts look great and the brownies are delicious. read more

What a fantastic choice for breakfast! I eat a keto diet, so my bacon, green chili & cheddar cheese omelet (1/2 serving) was perfect! Real eggs, freshly cooked, with cottage cheese side. My wife just brought home our lunch. What a disaster.....my wife ordered a Sante melt was just a plain burger no cheese with onions and thats it. SOMEONE DIDN'T CHECK THIS ORDERR! We have had meals here before that were good but this was very upsetting today knowing they made the wrong order my wife called in. We love Darbi's! We've been coming here for about 15+ years. Darbi is a local success story who started small and has become THE go-to breakfast restaurant in the White Mountains. We live sitting in the covered patio in the summer and in front of a roaring fireplace in the winter. Portions are huge. Everything is cooked there. You can't go wrong when coming here for breakfast. My Father, my wife and I moved to Show Low in early July 2020 in the middle of the Pandemic. Since we moved into the area, we have wanted to find a new "Our Favorite Restaurant." We have tried most of Show Low, Taylor and Snowflake, and while most of them are very good, they also offer very typical restaurant fare. In other words, nothing special. We stopped in to try Darby's Cafe on the recommendation from a friend of mine for lunch. Interesting; The parking lot, while not completely full, had only a few empty places to park. This was at the end of a typical lunch time so, while not necessarily unusual at 1:30 pm, the lunch rush is generally over. We went inside, and were seated. A lot of the other seats were occupied, with the restaurant about 3/4 full. Nice comfy atmosphere. Friendly staff. Not uptight. Looking at the menu, standard cafe food, with a few surprises, but pretty typical. Standard prices. Not expensive. So far, so good. Our waitress was Katya, a very nice young lady. Knowledgeable with the restaurant. Answered all of our questions. Always with a smile. Excellent waitress. The food arrived, Now it gets interesting. I ordered the Club Sandwich on Sour Dough Bread. It's my standard order in a new restaurant. Not because I particularly like them, but because you can tell a lot about a place by eating one. Most restaurants over compensate for poorer quality ingredients by overloading the sandwich with bacon or ham. Not here. Here at Darby's, they actually craft a club sandwich. The ingredients were fresh and well balanced. I could taste the lettuce, the tomato, the ham, the bacon and the turkey. Each individually mind you. Not one overpowering the other. The sour dough bread was fresh. Made that day, and added an excellent touch of flavor. I highly recommend this sandwich. My wife had the the French Dip Sandwich. She usually lets me try her food at a new restaurant, and the French Dip is also her standard order for a new restaurant. She didn't let me try it though, but I got a whiff of heaven from the Au Jus, and the roast beef looked tender and juicy, She didn't really talk at all while she ate, though I could tell she thoroughly enjoyed it. Afterward, she said it was one of the best French Dip Sandwiches she has ever had. My Father had the their Pulled Pork Nacho's. This would likely have fed all 3 of us and looked excellent, but he ate all that as well. (He rarely finishes all his food and takes his left overs home to the dogs. We finally found a time to stop when the parking lot was t jam packed! We are locals and stopped for dinner Saturday night. It was prime rib night and it did look really good but we passed. It was like $21 for a massive prime rib with veggies taters and toppings. I opted for the country fried steak dinner with the house Mac n cheese. The Mac n cheese was so damn good! It was very creamy and fresh. The chicken fried steak was about average I suppose. Nothing to write home about. I take chicken fried steak seriously and it was not bad and not great. My wife got the salad bar and she loved it. It had pretty decent topping offerings. The salad bar was a traffic jam though all night. People were getting frustrated. Tiny area. She was just happy though that she'd found a good all you can eat salad bar on the mountain. Overall we were happy and will def be back. Good sized menu. Decent prices. read more

Can't imagine anyone not giving this place 5 stars. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our visit, from the ambience and decor to the service and delicious food. I had a mouth watering Cran Turkey sandwich with these great crunchy fries. My husband enjoyed the Southwest Chicken sandwich. The menu selection was so inviting, we took some to-go for dinner (we're vacationing at a nearby cabin). The strung up lights all across the ceiling gave the place an intimate romantic feel even in the middle of the afternoon. And the price was impressive - around $40 for 4 meals and a soda. The parking appears a bit cramped when you first climb the small hill to enter the parking lot, but don't panic (like we did!), just keep following the exit signs around to the other side of the building, where we found plenty of spaces. Ordered the Baconator Bloody Mary, which was excellent. House made mix with bacon infused Titos Vodka. Ordered the Denver Omelette. I am very particular with my eggs and the omelette was cooked perfect, golden yellow fluffy and no brown marks. Stuffed generously with dices peppers, ham, onions and cheese. Biscuits are homemade and on point. Darbi's does not disappoint but plan on arriving very early or wait a few, however Its well worth the wait. Such a cute cafe! My husband and I went for lunch and got the Cobb salad and the prime melt. It was some of the best food we have ever had! Very big portion sizes, affordable, amazing service, and really quality food. We are already planning our next date to go back and try more items on the menu. I will say, it was very packed and the parking lot was full, but we still got sat immediately and our food was out to us much quicker than we expected.
