Stopped in for lunch today for the first time. Not super busy for lunch but took a few minutes to place our order. We ordered a portabella sandwich and club sandwich It took about 20 Minutes for the plates to arrive Both were good. Portions are large and worth the price. Absolutely amazing breakfast restaurant, this is the first time we have eaten here because it's always packed but we went early and the wait was less than 20 minutes. From the moment you walk in you are greeted with a warm smile from the hostess, after you are sat you are immediately offered drinks and the food was on the table in about 15 minutes. We had the Classic Benedict, Stuffed French Toast, Omelette and Huevos Rancheros, these were literally the best we have ever had. The server was attentive and friendly overall an amazing place. Darbi's is a great reason to get up and out early to start the day with a delicious breakfast! This place gets busy (that is why you should get there early). Busy, busy, busy! I would suggest getting here around 8:00, if not 7:45. When we were leaving just before 9, there were several groups waiting outside. The good news is, the staff does there best to reduce the wait as much as possible, so if you do sleep in, you should still go. The staff was friendly and quick, super-quick even, yet I never felt rushed. With every interaction you can tell that they have a purpose; to get you want you want for an enjoyable breakfast, but they are not trying to kick you out the door either. Not to mention, the food is delicious. Great hometown, family-friendly kind of place. Nothing fancy, just good food! I was in Pinetop for two nights and had breakfast here both mornings. The first day I had the Stevie's plate and it was wonderful! Eggs (your choice), veggies, potatoes, and your choice of breakfast meat (applewood bacon, ham, sausage, or chorizo). I choose the applewood smoked bacon; it was some of the best bacon I can remember and cooked perfect! The next day, I had the Pancake Sandwich. The plate is described as "oversized dollar pancakes with eggs and ham." I was picturing pancakes the diameter of a hamburger . . . what I got was pancakes bigger than the 8" plate! Don't get me wrong, it was great, just way more than I was expecting. I really like the combos they offer for breakfast. They have several variations of eggs, meat, and starch (grits, potatoes, or pancakes) which seem like the perfect amount for a good breakfast. Also, they have some great omelets and scrambles. We just had dinner here and wow. The food and service was great. I had the turkey melt-delicious and couldn't finish. My husband had the meatloaf- comes with soup-chicken noodle was so damn good- and salad. His dinner was so big he couldn't finish- good for sharing. My kids had the 1/2 lb cheeseburgers and these are not premade patties, they were juicy, moist and had great flavor. We wanted dessert but had to roll out of there. With the amount of foot traffic it gets you'd think this place would have outstanding food and honestly it was not worth the long wait. Food (we had omelets) was mediocre at best. I can't even say it was tasty. Maybe lunch and dinner are better there, but we specifically went there for their supposedly good breakfast and it just didn't live up to that. Fantastic local gem, Darbi is friendly and provides prompt and personalized service to her customers. We were highly recommended to try Darbi's while in the area recently and it did not disappoint. They are going through an expansion so there was a bit of construction, we still sat on the patio despite a little extra noise and had a very nice meal. I ordered the awful waffle, which is a wonderfully light and fluffy waffle covered with a chicken fried steak, amazing gravy and egg. The portion was huge and I don't know how they did it but the waffle never got soggy under the gravy. My husband ordered the chicken fried steak and eggs with a side of pancakes and his were equally tasty. We both took home left overs and were absolutely stuffed. Very mediocre! Too many choices for any real care going into food prep. Since Pinetop has little choice in quality I would suggest giving it a try. Salad bars should be fresh, no brown lettuce and clean. Mediocre at best. No excuses! You are too defensive! I will try visiting again next summer and give you another chance! I've tried many things here, when I'm feeling frisky the awful waffle is right up my alley. Calmer mornings call for the breakfast sandwich or two egg breakfast. My husband recommends the biscuits and gravy. Service is always great and they can accommodate larger groups- we walked right in with a party of 8. However they are usually busy. They are doing some remodeling to increase the size of their hostess stand and add more bathrooms (much needed). I forgot to mention the banana pancakes- treat yo self with those. My wife and I are on vacation from San Diego, CA. We are on a tear though Pinetop/lakeside eateries and this place was killer. 3 out of the 4 places We have been have impressed the hell out of me. Darbi's ambience is "Mountain perfect". Sevice with a smile, cozy, wooden and packed with people. The cinnamon roll was the best I have ever had. Fresh, soft, sweet and HUGE. Then the "S.O.B." came.
