Fundamentally dishonest service center I was quoted a low price on the phone for a factory-recommended service only to be told in person that it would actually cost more than 2x as much when we arrived at the dealer. Since then, despite repeated efforts, they have refused to say how much they charge for standard, factory-recommended service. On top of that, they recommended service that was not necessary at that time without making it clear that they were recommending something different than Toyota's recommendations. They also charged for service they did not perform to any reasonable standard. All of this was on top of a 45+ minute wait just to drop the car off, even with an appointment. I emailed the service department's management team and the dealer's general manager and none of them expressed even the slightest concern with my experience. They ultimately agreed to refund what I paid, after I involved BBB. But it's been weeks and they haven't sent the check and haven't responded when I asked. Find another dealer. read more

Made an appointment last week to get a replacement key and remote. Nobody told me how long it would take; I was lead to believe it would be in-and-out. Even when I arrived this morning, no one told me to expect to wait an hour and a half. I paid for the key and service (nearly $400) and waited. And waited. And waited. Finally they called me and I took the key out...and the remote didn't work! They spent two hours making a remote that didn't work, and didn't even test it to make sure it worked before they gave it to me. At that point, being over an hour behind schedule, I had to leave. And the service rep had the nerve to give ME attitude when I told her I couldn't wait around ANOTHER two hours to see if they got it right a second time! Two hours and $400 down the toilet. They tacked a $15 fee on, took over 2.5 hours, and said they filled all the washer fluid, oil, break fluid etc. Found out on the highway that the washer fluid was empty. This review is for the Title and Tags services. I bought my car a Toyota Camry 2017 back in February 2020. Up to now I have not received my tags. The temporary tags they provided me with initially expired and I can not use the car. I have called numerous times, they either do not pick or tell me they will call back. After several call I managed to get an extension on the temporary tags which they were supposed to overnight . First of all it took a week for me to receive the temporary tags and to make matters worse, they extended it for 2 weeks. How will two weeks change a thing? They said that because of the pandemic the DMV was closed and that is the reason why I couldn't get my permanent tags. To my knowledge the DMV works by appointment. Also, if the DMV is closed, why are you only extending for 2 weeks? Very bad service, no communication. I am disappointed and will take my business elsewhere. I cannot even begin to express how absolutely ABHORRENT this dealership is. For starters, the staff is standoffish and unhelpful. We took our car because we were having issues with it. A couple of hours later they sent us a text message giving a status update. I wanted more information about it so I decided to call the person in charge of the case. I called on SEVERAL occasions to be met with the excuse that he was unavailable. After many failed attempts I had enough and decided to just get my car back. When we arrived in person, the employees were as unhelpful as ever. The person in charge of the case was arrogant and his eyes barely left his computer, as if we weren't even there. DJ barely muttered a word, and when he did they were filled with evident disdain. I was willing to look past this but when I arrived home I realized they didn't even bother to put my car back together and left all the wiring EXPOSED. They could have at least enclosed it back to it's original state. When I received my car, the individual didn't even want to show me where it was. He just pointed in a general direction. This is a BUSINESS! People pay to be treated with respect and for services to be rendered completely. I am not sure how this place has so many positive reviews but they are entirely misleading. Run! I cannot not recommend this place more. First, COVID precautions are a joke here. Many people not wearing masks and with Delta, I really don't need to be bringing COVID home to my unvaccinated child. Second, extremely unprofessional staff at almost every step of the way. Our sales associate when we came to pick up our vehicle was helping 2 other customers at the same time, so he never walked us through our new vehicle, took paperwork of mine that then finance accused me of losing, and gave us incorrect information to prepare to purchase the new vehicle. Then, the maskless "manager" who came to yell at me for not having the correct paperwork didn't make things any easier. And finally, our finance person agreed to send the required paperwork we didn't have by FedEx and made it sound INCREDIBLY urgent, but then just held off on sending for a week because the (only?) person in the office with access to the FedEx account was not there. Once I thought it was all sorted, it seems that they are changing the titling company and we have to have all the paperwork filled out all over again. I wish I had read the reviews before coming here, but Costco sent us to this dealership (which we also couldn't get the discount, but weren't told that straight out in any communications prior to going to the dealership). Easy to make an appointment online. But appointments don't mean anything because you still get put in the same order as walk ins. Super slow. Nice waiting room for ppl like me who choose to wait for car service but that doesn't disguise the ridiculous wait times. Also they don't offer a shuttle from 12:30-2:00 for the guys lunch break but allow appointment to be scheduled for that time. Four hours for oil change and to patch a leaky tire is crazy. My expectations were low when he told me 3 hours but 4 is insane and didn't include the car wash which would have been even longer. Annoyed! High price. High wait times. This Toyota service shop is great. I've been bringing my Toyota FlexFuel vehicle here for 5 years. I originally had it fully inspected after I was in the process of buying it used elsewhere. The DarCars mechanic found a significant issue, and gave me the proper paperwork so that I saved several hundred dollars off the purchase price. Since then they have provided excellent service on the vehicle. I work with DJ as my service agent, and he gives me phone calls with updates on issues and prices quickly. The car runs so smoothly and quietly. The new tires that the tire specialist recommended were high quality and a fair price. With a few mistakes over the years, DJ has helped me out fully to make things right and cover a rental. The rental desk is right in the service area, and its staff are very organized and fast. Ruth and Kelly will get you what you need, and are even sweet about me asking for a rental that doesn't have a new-car smell. There are two waiting areas, and the upstairs one is huge and clean with desks to work. If you want to keep your Toyota running properly, this is an excellent place to go. read more

What a horrible place and experience! Test drove a RAV4 Hybrid that I was willing to purchase. First, I got there for my scheduled appointment saying they didn't have any vehicles in stock for me to test drive - ummm then why did you call me to schedule a test drive then?! Then the sales rep (Antony) apologized for a mistake, as I wanted to check out the hybrid version and they had one available. It wasn't everything I wanted but the market is limited - I get it. After driving and checking out the MSRP, they said they were going to charge $2,000 over MSRP. I get the market is crazy, and I'm not unreasonable - but this should have been explained online their website and upfront on the phone prior to coming in for a test drive. IT WAS DOWNRIGHT DECEITFUL. The sales manager tried telling me he can sell the vehicle for whatever price he wanted to... which was SHADY and CRAZY. How do you talk to customers like this? I'm not overpaying the value for a vehicle, period (and believe me you don't have to even in this market). Take your business elsewhere, been treated much more fairly most other places! You don't have to accept this kind of treatment, and can certainly find a better deal elsewhere. Would never get my business or my money. I am a professional and took time off to come to this bait and switch operation. I came here after getting a Costco account that shunted me to this outfit. They called me at work twice yesterday about a specific car I was interested in that I saw online. Told me we will have it parked in front for you to test drive. I was dog tired but showed up. First lie is that the two people who called me yesterday were not even there. Second lie your car is coming in the lot tomorrow. During his time in Maryland, my son only put on 11,000 miles of usage. My son is rather naïve. He noticed he had a tire leak. He brought the car in to Darcars and the sleazy salesman told him into he needed four new tires. Yes! Four new tires after only 11,000 miles of wear. My son obediently agreed. The purchase of the new tires was in the Toyota National Database since all our automobile maintenance is done with Toyota dealers. So, my purchase is a proven fact. I found out about this a couple of months later. I was outraged. I called Darcars and told them I wanted a refund for the three tires he was oversold. This is when the lies started. I first spoke to Kate. Now Kate is an exceptionally good liar. She told me that mileage is not the only wear that tires endure. They can have "dry rot" and "fatigue." She was such a good liar I believed her. But just out of curiosity, I called my local New York dealer. The service manager had actually worked for Goodyear Tire for 10 years and considered himself an authority on tires. He said, "No way." You will not get "dry rot" in a climate like New York or Maryland with 11,000 miles. Maybe in a hot environment like Arizona, but not here. I sent an email to Darcars telling them this. No one ever called my local dealer to dispute what he said. I did receive a call from Darcars. This time it was from Kim. Unlike, Kate, Kim is dumb as a rock. All talk about "dry rot" is now ignored. Instead, the new story Kim tells me is that my son "requested" four new tires. She is such a bad liar, she couldn't lie straight in bed. My son did not request any tires. In addition, even if he did, since the tires were good an "honest" mechanic would tell him it was unnecessary. An "honest" mechanic would have checked the mileage on the Toyota National database. I bought a Highlander almost year ago and was at your Service Center few months ago to do 5,000 miles service in which they rotate my tires. Once it was done I requested my wife to pick up the SUV. She brought home with trust that everything was performed correctly. Few weeks later we notice that one of the Tire lock of front passenger tire was missing, I took it to service center and ask them if something can be done since this seems like shop forgot to put it on when my car was there in service but I was told that they cannot do anything since its been few weeks now and i have to buy a whole new set. I paid $39.99 for the new set of Tire locks and it was put on. Now this time I was at your service center to get my 10,000 miles service. I was scheduled with Mr. Mahyar Abedi, who did a great job as a Service Advisor but once my car was done with 10,000 miles service, he showed me my paperwork and outlined items which were done in this service. I look at all the items and was happy that all these things were performed and done. In that list it was stated that my Cabin Filter was also changed. I also requested to rotate my tires so I took Mr. Mahyar with me to my car to check and my tires were rotated. Once I open my glove box, I didn't see any of my items moved, which tells me that something is wrong and I requested that I would like to see my new Cabin Filter. Mr. Mahyar went inside and called the Technician who worked on my car and once he took out the filter we find out that it was never changed and I was lied to by Darcars that this service was performed. I approached to Mr, Mehandi ( I guess Manager) and first he bluntly said he is not sure but after looking at Technician Remarks and old Cabin Filter he changed his statement. So in other words, if a customer doesn't pay attention Darcars is going to Rip OFF that customer. Now I am not even sure if all the listed things were performed on my car or not even sure if my SUV oil was changed or not. A few years ago i had to bring my 07 Tacoma in for a factory frame replacement. Was told I should expect to come back in about a month and to call and check in. So i did, for several months and kept being told a little longer. One call the person i spoke with told me I should call corporate so I did and a month or so later I got a call from the dealership to come in to change the frame. When I went in a snide/rude remark was made about how I jumped the line of frames that needed to be replaced by calling corporate, even though I did exactly as directed by a service writer. Fast Forward to last year I called and asked if they had a small clip in stock; they said they should and just come on in. When I got there they didn't have this clip and told me I'd have to order it and come back in to pick it up wasting my time again. It was cheaper to buy it online and not have to waste my time driving back and forth or trying to find parking in a very overcrowded and busy lot. I decided to trade in my 07 Tacoma at another dealership further away that gave me a better deal for a 2018' Tacoma. The transmission on these are known for searching for the right gear and mine is no different. I made an appt today for 2pm to have the update installed (which takes about 10-15 minute). I had to stop in the showroom to ask a salesman where I should go since the bay doors are not well marked and directions on where to go are non existent. I sat for about 5 minutes after pulling in ; then got out and asked a gentlemen who were standing to the side talking where I should go if I have an appt at 2. He said just wait there in line and Nelson (i think was his name) will come back. Nelson then directed me to pull into a different line and I told him I had an appt. He told me he needed to get into the truck so i stepped out and asked if he needed anything else from me. He said no and just to go inside after handing me a paper and ticket. I went to the sitting room where I sat for about 45 minutes before a younger gentleman with long hair came over and told me for future reference to talk to the service writer when I came in. I explained the interaction with Nelson and I'd told him I had an appt (redundant) and was never told to talk to a service writer. He took my paper then went to talk to someone else, came back and told me about the tire sensor in the wheels. I thanked him but told him thats not why I came in and that I just wanted the update done to my transmission for the shifting problems that I had made an appt for. He took me over to a service writer. I explained to her how I'd been there an hour and needed to get on the road and that I had an appt to get the transmission updated. She told me they'd have to take me out on the highway for a test-drive in the truck to prove that the transmission was having trouble finding gears. I mentioned to her that the update only takes about 10 minutes and that it'd be faster to just make the update (its difficult to replicate a transmission searching for gears in local traffic). She took a long drawn out breath rolled and fluttered her eyes at me and stated that they don't just do work on vehicles without taking them out. i asked for my keys and that I'd take my truck to a different dealership. She rolled / fluttered her eyes again but the younger guy who explained about the TPS sensor said he'd get the keys for me and bring the truck around. I don't want to be at the dealership wasting my time on a Toyota caused problem and I don't appreciate my time wasted by rude people. The salesman who helped direct me where to go and the longer hair younger gentlemen are by far the most customer service oriented person I've dealt with at this dealership over the last 12 or so years. Do not take your car here for repairs. I will never take my two Toyotas to DARCARS of Silver Spring ever again. I have been a customer for 8 years and after the terrible customer service I received today from the service center advisor and her manager I will never pay for their repairs again and I will never make a purchase from this dealership. Today, the service advisor acted as if my calling her about my car was beyond the scope of her role, she kept insisting that I use the app even when I told her that the app was not working. Getting basic information about my repair out of her was very hard and took too many phone calls. I made several calls to request to speak to someone else and ended up leaving two messages for the manager who never called me back. Instead of receiving a call from a manager or a senior advisor I received a call from the unhelpful service advisor who reiterated what she had already told me. At that point I told her I did not want to speak with her that that I needed to speak with someone else and she talked over me and began to list out "what she had told me." I did not appreciate her disrespectful tone and I told her that her disrespectful tone was not f**king acceptable. That is when the manager decided to join the call and lecture me on cursing. At that moment I decided that I would not be paying this dealership $1,600 - $2,500 to repair my car and I requested that my car be ready to be picked up immediately. The customer service at DARCARS of Silver Spring needs to be audited and the staff need to be trained to communicate better and improve their overall responses when asked for basic repair information. Your managers need to understand the importance of returning a phone all from a customer. It was not acceptable for the unhelpful service advisor to keep calling after I had requested to speak with a manager twice. It is real shame that a basic phone call with repair details is no longer a part of their service model. Over the years, I used to brag about the level of service I received from DARCARS of Silver Spring and in fact I have been trying to get my husband to get his Toyota repaired there but never again. There are far too many Toyota repair centers and dealerships in the DC Metro Area to be subject to such a terrible communications and customer service model that I experienced today. I recommend you choose another dealership for your repair needs, DARCARS of Silver Spring does not value their customers enough to provide basic information about repairs/costs by phone or problem solve an issue at a managerial level. read more

Homophobic, unprofessionalism, or both? Abridged: After being ignored, we were passed around from unknowledgeable salesperson to unprofessional salesperson. The facilities showcase a level of dilapidation that feels disrespectful of the Toyota brand. And while it wasn't as blatant as denying us a wedding cake, it felt as though that we weren't welcome at DARCARS Toyota because of who we are. Unabridged: As someone who used to sell cars for a living, I'm struggling to make sense of the experience we just had at DARCARS Toyota. After having to create a parking spot because their customer parking was filled with unsold previous test drives, we had to walk into the showroom because there was no one on the lot to help. After walking in, we had to flag someone down because no one seemed to notice we were there. Thoroughly disinterested, the person mumbled that he had customers and waved someone else over. The person that was called over introduced himself but, on a scale from 1-10, his enthusiasm was at a 1. He asked us what we were interested in seeing. I gave him the specific CPO we were interested in. He immediately went into trying to up-sell me to a new car -- which I found weird considering salespeople make more money off of used cars. However, he pursued the new car route and proceeded to give inaccurate information. After telling me that it was financially better to go with the new car than the used car because the interest rate was better on the new car, I pointed out that Toyota is currently offering the same finance rate on CPOs as they are on the 60 month RAV4. Once he realized that I had done my homework, he passed me off to a used car salesman. Now when I say that this next person couldn't be bothered -- I mean damn! Dude didn't even bother introducing himself, even after I took the initiative to introduce myself. When I told him the car I wanted to test drive, he asked me where I had seen it, as if he was unfamiliar with this car. He motioned for us to have a seat on his ripped pleather chairs that were so cruelly being kept alive by duct tape and desperation. Thinking he misunderstood the situation, I advised that we still needed to drive the car. With the most energy he displayed during our entire time together, he curtly responded with "I know! I have to look up the car!" ... and then proceeded to ask me for the cars vin or stock number. I pulled up the car on THEIR website and provided him with THEIR stock number -- and he seemed surprised when the car showed in stock. Now, I've been out of the business for about 7 years now, but when I sold cars, we knew EVERY piece of inventory on our lot, especially the pre-owned units because that's where we made the most commission. So imagine how shocked I was that, not only did he have no knowledge of this car, but then proceeded to leave the internal systems page up with the company's information on the vehicle while he went to get the keys. He came back and we exchanged keys thinking he would have a manager "appraise" my trade (put my vin into Black Book and get the bottom trade price) while he took us on the test drive. Alas, I over estimated the effort that this would require because he handed me the keys and walked away. Assuming he was taking my keys to the manager, we waited for a few minutes. When he returned, he asked if we needed anything. YES! I needed ANYONE at this dealership to find an ounce of salesmanship ... like just one. However, it's clear that even with the Entune navigation system, not one would be found. So off we go on the test drive without the salesperson -- lucky I didn't need anyone to demonstrate how to use the features on the car. As we pull back into dealership, I see they parked my car in an accessible spot, as they were the only spots not filled with unsold test drives -- so clearly gay customers aren't the only ones not respected at DARCARS Toyota. We walk back into the showroom, where the salesperson is not waiting for us, but seated at his desk. He asked if we liked it, as he handed my key back to me. For those unfamiliar, a salesperson only hands back your keys if a deal is not possible. Since he had made no effort to open a proposal, he was giving me a clear sign that he was not interested in selling us a car. In an effort to retain any dignity, I said I liked it but wanted to wait and see what the 2019 will be like when it comes out soon. He said "Cool" and turned back to his computer screen. After all of this, I'm not going to pretend to know what was in this persons heart and ascribe hate to his actions. What I can say is that I left feeling disrespected, and cannot recommend purchasing from DARCARS Toyota. read more

Seamless purchase, no BS, no sales gimmicks, and when I wanted to haggle, I was caught off guard by them giving me a price well below what I had expected to pay based off of my online research. My experience buying my Tacoma Pre-Certified vehicle was excellent. But after that day, this dealership is a nightmare to work with. I bought my car on October 1st, it has been 68 days and in the past month I've called twice a week, have failed to be recontacted by title and tags, every time I contact for "Manager" the receptionists give me the run around over and over. Not to mention the paint touch-up stick and other amenities that were promised were NEVER sent. I'm on my second temporary tag, after I called the dealership and reminded them before Thanksgiving. With the holidays coming up and DMV hours beginning to be spotty, and the dealship also prevented me from transferring my already existing tags to my new vehicle, so I then was not able to take advantage of my deduction on Tax/Title... Wow. This service department transcends bad. It's offensive. I urge you against using Darcars. I will never go back even though I'll spend considerable time driving to go elsewhere. Worst first. Three employees arguing over a personal matter, visibly upset, in the customer area. Before noticing this I ask fourth employee how to pick my car, which I've been told is ready. He says brusquely, go to the person who checked you in. I say, she's not here. He says oh she's outside (in a pretty heated dispute with co-workers). He says wait here, but I think he says come with him. We go outside and are in small space with employees who continue to argue angrily. Fourth employee realizes I've followed him and sternly reprimands me, swings open door, and angrily waves for me to go back inside, saying as if I were, well, no one because I don't treat dogs or children this way. I comply. Employee returns from argument and is relatively polite (although earlier she was on her personal phone typing and laughing while half a dozen of us waited in line) in checking me out. I ask to speak to a manager, she says there isn't one. I say I will speak to the employee myself (the angry door opener). I go to his desk and say I need to share some feedback and that he should be more courteous with customers. He is, now again, angry at me. While I pause, never losing composure or escalating, he argues he treated me this way because he was "freaked out" by the argument, which had been "inappropriate" of his co-workers. I say, well, good luck with your workplace issues, can you direct me to your car. He says, I am quoting, "no, I have no idea where it is." I renew my request to see a manager. He (angrily) gestures to an office, so I run through these events with Amir, the manager. To his credit, Amir apologizes. He then mishandles by saying "well I can't say anymore because I don't know what really happened." Fair enough, but not what you say to a customer. I ask him to walk me to my car. Honestly, I ask this because (a) I still don't know where it is and (b) the angry man is standing nearby, twice my size. If this employee had spoken to me in a public place, as a stranger, I would not have hesitated to ask for help from police. I won't spend your time talking about the mediocre handling of a long line, or the fact that groups of employees ignored customers. It was really the verbal and physical intimidation that was remarkable. Don't go here. read more

Not a good place for someone who is having new credit. They did couple of hard pull on my credit. It just destroyed my credit score. I bought 2003 corolla with 7000+++ with couple of recall on my car. (As i was new i don't know those things before) I paid 1000$ down payment that doesn't appear on my account and interest rate of 10% Definitely not going back. They just screwed me. Generally awful experience trying to buy a new car here. They are currently using a nice con-artist bait and switch technique on the Internet. They post ads on the major car buying websites showing very attractive prices. Of course when you arrive those cars aren't in stock (they never existed). When confronted with this, the sales manager claimed these ads were for 'demo cars which may have a lot of miles'. Funny how the ads specifically list the cars as new. Under pressure, the manager could not find a single car of the dozens listed in Internet ads. Avoid this place; we found better deals and honest dealers elsewhere. read more

In for service. Work done though it took far longer than it ought to have. I will not go back to a repair shop that makes me and my business with them feel unwanted, less than, totally not worth anyone's time or courtesy. This was on drop off, on the phone and three days later on pick up. Never once did I experience any common, human courtesy. read more

The 1 Star is because they changed my tires. I could go on a rant,but it not worth it. Bottom line is once they have your business,they talk to you like you are a retard.They really don't care.The sad part was my problem was next to nothing. A simple sorry I did not inform you would have been great.Instead I got the "Yes and What do you want me to do about it attitude from the manger,and service representative. My family WOULD NOT recommend this dealership. We came with the prospect of buying a new car; only to find out we would have to pay a higher price not the one we were promised. Worst experience ever. 1-star is way too high a rating. Went in on Black Friday, made a $1000 down payment on a car that one of their sales reps, Brandon told me was MD inspected. Some minor fix needed to be made bc Brandon didn't like how it sounded so I would need to come back on Saturday to pick it up. As I was leaving, another sales rep, Emmanuel had the keys and was trying to sell the car I just made a down payment on. I spoke to him and his potential customers and told them I had already made a payment on the car. Emmanuel then told us how constantly incompetent Brandon was and how Brandon should have moved the key to the sold section.... Got a call on Monday saying the car actually wasn't MD inspected and I would have to pay the cost (~$1500) if I wanted the car . So Brandon clearly lied since his manager, Jovaghn told him on Friday when he took the keys to show me the car, that it wasn't MD inspected. The manager I spoke to, Jovaghn lacked basic customer service skills: he told me he wasn't in the business of selling cheap cars so if I wanted to stick to my budget, I should get a car from Craigslist smh. When I asked to speak to a different manager, he gives his "honest" opinion of me and the situation to the other manager, and laughs about it. I guess he didn't realize that I could hear every word. Definitely never buying a car from any Darcars ever. I expect a basic level of competence and customer service that they clearly lack. read more

Really over priced....they wanted to charge 688$ for brakes and rotors. Went up the street to see about a better price. The other place charged 390$. Also my car inspection was 160$ when other places are charging 60$.... Prices are out of control. Not worth it. read more

This dealership is old school for sales and not friendly for follow-on service. When I purchased my car, it was classic.....sales person made offer, then disappeared into the back to get it approved by his sales manager, then, back and forth, back and forth, repeat of the disappearing act. Then, onto a meeting with the finance manager who tried to sell me things I did not want. Try CarMax Laurel instead, for a no haggle and lower price experience. When visiting for service, long waits and lots of employees standing around and not working. This is normal for this dealership. No eye contact, no greeting, no idea what would happen next, or when you might be waited on. Everyone staring at computer screens and ignoring the customers. I will be finding another option. read more
