And we were the only table during a brunch. I had eggshells in my eggs, quite a bit. But the happy hour apps we got were great. Hubby and I were in the mood for a cozy bar food experience for a later (8:30) dinner last Saturday night. We headed to Darcy's where I have been several times for lunch but never for dinner. After this experience, I will definitely not be back outside of lunch hours. The service was inattentive, they were playing trivia (and I LOVE trivia!) but the sound system was so loud you literally couldn't have a conversation at all. The lights were bright (I guess so you can write down your answers?) which ruined the cozy feel. DH ordered the fish and chips - one piece of fish coated in lots of mushy breading and I had the dubliner sandwich that was so soggy on one side I had to remove the bread. We couldn't get out of there fast enough. We'll head somewhere else the next time we are looking for a low-key bar experience. read more

This place was frickin awesome. Not pretentious, just good company from the bartender and great food. In town for business in the DTC and needed to grab a bite to eat. Why not choose a pub, they're fun and usually more affordable. I pulled up a seat at the bar and right away the bartender Johnny delivered great service and even chatted with me for a bit. It was nice to meet someone else from the midwest. I was in the mood for a steak but didn't want to pay the prices of the big guys across the street. Best decision of the night. Darcy's is pretty so-so. The food is nothing to write home about (greasy, bland), and the service is really hit or miss depending on who you get. The atmosphere blurs the lines between restaurant and sports bar and doesn't nail either. If you have to order off the menu, the adult mac n' cheese is pretty reliable, and I enjoy the bread pudding. Trivia is on Saturday nights and is worth checking out. The younger crowd will probably prefer Baker St. Pub, which is across the street. read more

Visiting Denver for a few days and staying nearby, I walked to Darcys. Although my feet felt a sticky floor I decided to eat here. Seated, I realized the place needed a good mopping and wash down of tables. Because I didn't have many choices, I stayed. Ordered the fish and chips and got them quickly. The fish were a little greesey tasting. Service was slow and had to ask for refills. Also had to wait a while to get more ketchup. When finished, the plates just sat there. The waitress picked up my cup of soup, but nothing more. Then the wait to ask for the check was even longer. When I did ask, it was the first time all evening I saw her smile. Guess I should have taken the sticky floors as a sign of things to come. read more

We finally ordered drinks and they sat at the bar while the bartender went and talked to a table while our drinks sat. We had no idea where the waitress went. We walked out. NEVER EVER GO TO DARCY PUB!!! Im not one to regularly write negative reviews, but in this case an exception will be made. Let me preface by saying that I own a restaurant and know how it is, so I am sympathetic, but this crossed the line! I went to Darcy's for the first and last time tonight. Upon walking into the pub, i got a good vibe, but it ended as soon as i sat down in a booth hoping for service. It was not that busy for a Sat night, but thats why i went to Darcys instead of Bakers St. I wanted somewhere quiet to have a drink with my girlfriend and her friends. After 15 minutes at a booth, nobody came to our table to take our drink order. Eventually, we ordered at the bar. the bartender was obviously drunk, It only took about another 15 minutes for the drunken irish bartender to deliver my one Guinness and two SoCo Lime shots. Only the bartender forgot to add the lime to the shots. This wouldnt be a big deal, but everyone else at my table that didnt order a beer, had their mixed drink or shot screwed up by this very drunk bartender. One bad drink is a fluke, but 7 bad drinks is a pattern. Toward the end of the night, I ordered one last whiskey ginger ale, and i got a small glass of well whiskey with a splash of soda water. After confirming from the other 6 people at the table that my drink was not even close to what I ordered, I finally went back to the bar to return my drink. The bartender was nowhere to be found, so I just told the nearest waitress I could find. She assured me she would tell the manager and have them speak to me. After 20 minutes of waiting, my patience ran out, I was tired, and didnt want to drink that last drink before I left. the manager never spoke to me. All I wanted was a proper drink, or a refund. Or at least an explanation for why I was being treated so horribly. None of which happened. So as I was leaving, I went back to that waitress at the bar again asking for a refund of the incorrect drink I received. They made some excuse as to the soda gun not working correctly (which was a lie), but never even offered me a new drink. I then got frustrated. I publicly called out the bartender on being drunk and not doing his job properly. The bar staff and a few "regular" customers then told me I should just leave and never come back. I would have had less of a problem with that had they given me a refund first. But I was physically intimidated by the staff to leave, and even taunted by the bartender and waitress once I was outside. Worst Customer service I have ever experienced. So, we walked in a beautiful Sunday afternoon wanting to eat on the patio. The sign said to see the hostess. Ok, but where's the hostess. The bartender notices us but says nothing to us nor does he attempt to come seat us. The kitchen folks see us, say something to the bartender, which makes him look up and see us but then continues to ignore us. After standing there for a 3 or so minutes we leave. Go to Somewhere else where we we promptly greeted at the door and sat. Oh, and Darcy's was not busy to warrant being ignored. Normally a great place but today was an epic failure. read more

My family and I have been here twice and I've ordered to-go once. The first time was to-go on St. Pat's Day (corn beef and cabbage) and it was great. The 1st time my family and I ate there, the food tasted good but took a long time to come out. Plus, we were there on a weekend night and kids eat for $1.50 on the weekends. We were charged full price for the kids meal, but that was corrected after we told our waiter. The 2nd time we ate there, it took a long time to even get drinks which usually not a good sign. The food, once again, took a long time to come out. My husband saw my fish and chips sut on the counter ready to come out for 10 minutes. Fries were cold, fish was okay. My husband ordered a burger and French onion soup which he said tasted good. My daughter's grilled cheese and fruit were good as well. The happy hour menu says 3-7 every day. Guinness is clearly on the happy hour menu. I ordered my Guinness a few minutes before 7. Our check did not reflect the happy hour price. When we approached our waitress about it, she said she would correct it because happy hour is actually all day. Then she returned to our table to tell us Guinness is not on the happy hour menu. The Happy Hour menu clearly states Guinness as a happy hour option and why wouldn't it be at an Irish pub? We will not be returning. read more

We've been to Darcy's twice, both on Saturday nights for the Geeks who Drink trivia. We like this place. The beer selection is excellent eventhough the prices make you think (most imports are $5.50 but late night there were domestics on special for $2). The decor is very nice, not too dark like most pub style restuarants. It can be noisy for sure, but hey, its a pub! There is an enclosed back room that I have seen people move too if the noise bothers them. The food is good, but I wouldnt say great. There is a wide selction but the 2 dish's I have had (Mac and Cheese and Steak Boxty) have left a little to be desired. They were good, but something was missing. I agree with a previous poster regarding the Mac and Cheese (its pasta with cheese sauce). I believe this place is own/run by the same people who do Casey's in Stapleton (if that helps). Parking can be tight yes, but I have always been on a Saturday night which I would assume is a slow time of the week for DTC. The first thing I felt as I walked in through the door was warmth. The always open door did not make me rub my hands together in an attempt to generate some body heat as I had expected. The yellow orange walls and forest green décor made me relax even further. We were seated right away since the place was mostly empty except for a few men at the bar, a loud family with toddlers and a baby right below me, and a couple sitting in a corner booth who had to be in their 70's at the least. As I was looking through the menu whose prices varied form $6-$22, I could not stop looking at the two four year old kids running through the entire pub tripping over one another as their parents chatted over tall glasses of beer. The menu became confusing once I got to the sides. When the waitress came I ordered a Chicken Ranch Melt which was $8.99, and as usual forgot to ask for it with no avocado. She then started to push me to order sides. When I asked how much extra that cost (being the college student that I am, I was already unable to afford anything more to drink other than water), she gave me a displeased look and said it was free. The menu was not clear in this for it had various sides that cost extra. As she proceeded to name off the sides that actually were free, I quickly ordered fries thinking that I could not go wrong with such a simple side. The inside out Panini looking thing came out in 15 minutes. The white soft bread with brownish over baked crust was beginning to get soggy and was damp as I tried to cut it. I looked at the plain looking melted cheese on top and was wondering how difficult it would be to get the avocado out from underneath it. It turned out it was quite easy. I lifted a corner of the cheese expecting it to stretch but instead it pealed off like it had been sitting there for days. I felt my stomach do three flips as I laid the cheese back over the pile of chicken that looked like it had been taken from subway, with the few drops of ranch on top. When I order a Chicken ranch melt, I expect fresh grilled chicken that had just been beheaded and plucked of weathers in the back, soft dry bread, plenty of warm ranch drizzled on every piece of chicken, and cheese that I have to keep wrapping around my fork in order to get it neatly inside my mouth. When I go out to eat I expect to eat something better than what I can make myself. Another complaint I have is the lack of authenticity. When I walk into an Irish pub I want to hear the drunks screaming bloody murder every time their soccer team misses a goal. I want a nice TV and a never ending supply of beer. Instead I get a couple small monitored TV's, a restaurant filled with upcoming football game banners, and a 70 year old lady being jerked awake from sleeping at a table when a for year old bumps into her table. I have been to Ireland numerous times and have frequented the pubs in the heat of the FIFA 2010 world cup. If I am paying for an Irish pub, I want to feel like I am at an Irish pub. Overall I would not go back for I need authenticity not cheap décor and football. read more

I stopped in the other night for drinks and dinner. It wasn't too crowded. We had 2 servers before the night was over. The first server was very good and attentive, especially when we were having trouble deciding what to order. Another server took over and she was good too; she seemed a little overwhelmed at first and seemed shy and quiet. My bf ordered the Reuben sandwich. He hated it, said it was terrible and he didn't finish it. I had the french dip and it was ok. Strangely, one half of the sandwich was really good and the other half was not good, too much onions and the meat was fatty. The sandwich did come with mushrooms, which was a nice touch. My friend ordered the fish and chips and it was one huge piece of fried fish, which is different, but not in a good way. I have been to Darcy's before and had the "Adult" Mac N'Cheese. It was sooo good. Next time I'm at Darcy's, I'll not stress over my choice an just go with the mac and cheese. read more

Was having fun buying food and drinks, singing karaoke, and around midnight they told me that karaoke was ending and that they were closing because of slow business... shouldn't advertise being open til 2am if they close just whenever: don't be a bar if you can't hang with the patrons! The first time we tried to come here was in January 2014 and it was randomly closed for a late Xmas party for the staff, so the manager gave us a coupon for a free app to come back another time. We just now came back to try it tonight (4-30-14) and it was a terrible experience. We waited at the hostess stand to be seated for a good 10 mins before someone came to seat us. The place was about half occupied so there wasn't a wait or crazy busy, just the staff were chatting at the bar and being inattentive. We were in a good mood and hungry so we decided to look past that and give the food a try. After being seated, again took another 15 mins to get our drink order then another 10 mins to even get our drinks. Still waiting it out, we order the artichoke dip and 2 burgers, all were pretty decent. I'm not very picky when it comes to food, but when the service is terrible, that's when I get turned off by a restaurant. I work in the service industry too so I get it, and that's probably why I can't give any more than 1 star to this place. If you're in a hurry I would not recommend coming here. read more

My husband and I stayed at the awful Hyatt Regency (not worth 4 stars) and this place was nearby. The restaurant looks like an old tavern and is overall cozy. We saw multiple families with children which made us feel more comfortable with our infant. The food was wonderful and the waiters were kind and helpful. The brownie Sunday was seriously the best thing I have tasted in awhile. The lamb chops my husband got were amazing also. We have to go back when we get the chance again. read more

We were so excited to head to Darcy's, as it is advertised as an Irish-style pub and conveniently located near us, however it's sadly a missed opportunity. The decor and atmosphere is so pleasant and welcoming and the staff is friendly. However, the food is just okay based on two visits. The fish and chips features a particularly bread-y version of fried fish with little meat, the "London Style" curry just falls kind of flat, not particularly flavorful, and you can find better chicken tenders pretty much anywhere. Which brings me to the bottom line, you can get any of the food items at any bar in Denver, there's really nothing unique to an "Irish-style pub," aside from the mussels, which I will say did stand out from the rest of the menu. Now I move on to drinks-I tried two different specialty cocktails as their beer list is limited, (albeit Denver has a wide range of beers so we are spoiled when it comes to beer selection when it is limited). The first drink (of which I don't recall the name) was not worth getting a second one so I switched to an Irish coffee, thinking well it's an Irish pub it's bound to be on par-false! It was gross, I don't believe I even made it halfway through. The cheapest ingredients seemed to be used, they blended poorly together and topped with super sweet green whipped cream. All of this is particularly frustrating when taking into account how overpriced it all was. Overall, I am disappointed in Darcy's and just wish their food and drinks matched the atmosphere. read more

The reason I'm giving them two stars is the atomosphere. Or should I say the inability to actually have a conversation with the friends you are sitting with or even the server. Went there Sat. evening (3/16/13) for an early St. Patricks' Day celebration with friends. We arrived shortly after 5:00 - too cool to sit outside on patio. The music was so loud that my friends and I were having to scream at each other to talk, the server couldn't hear us either! While it was nice having the Irish dancers there, again, the music was so loud one could not think straight. I do not find this atmosphere the least bit relaxing - quite the opposite. I did ask if they could turn it down a bit - it got turned down so we didn't have to scream at each other (in each other's ears), but had to speak QUITE LOUDLY to hear each other. The food we had was great (Shepard's pie), but I will seriously consider ever going here again because of the volume. I realize it is a "pub", as well. However, at 5:30 on a Sat. night (before they get busy and the bar crowd actually moves in) - one should be able to enjoy the company of their friends instead of being concerned about their hearing loss. Visited Darcy's while in town for work. I went on a Saturday afternoon for lunch. I was surprised at how empty the place was considering it was college football season. The service was good, but not great. I sat at the bar and had a half-portion of fish and chips, which was just one huge piece of fish and some fries. We have eaten in Darcy's a few times, having gone back because the food was good and my 6 year old son really liked the chicken tenders. Unfortunately, it seems the chef may have changed as we ate there for lunch today (Feb 14th 2015) and the food was dreadful. Firstly, my Denver Omelet was missing several ingredients including the pepper and onion and was full of thin sliced packet ham rather than chopped ham the recipe calls for and the hash brown potatoes were dry and tasteless. Worse, the chicken tenders were undercooked, causing my son to spit them out. Unless the chef changes do not eat at Darcy's - undercooked chicken can kill! read more
