Instead I got the Hung Shao Tofu which sounded good. It's $9.75 for the large, the only size. This came with big pieces of bean curd and lots of baby carrots, bok choy, water chestnuts, and other Chinese vegetables. It had a nice spice to it. This wasn't too little or a lot. I swear by this joint. I don't even live close to here anymore and I drive the 20 minutes each way to pick up from here because I can't find anywhere locally that comes even close to their food. Our faves: potstickers, crab Rangoon, egg rolls, beef & broccoli, mixed vegetables, and all varieties of their fried rice are good (with the exception of the shrimp - it doesn't taste bad I'm just really picky about shrimp quality) Definitely not a dine in place, although they do have a couple tables if you're going to have a quick bite but I'd say about 95% of their sales are takeout. I've been a fan since I was a little kid. I was back in the neighborhood and got the Mongolian beef lunch special today and it had eight pieces of beef and the rest was pure peppers and onions. OMG! Darien Cop Suey has wings!!!! I love wings and have sampled them internationally, so when I recommend wings, they have to be good -- very good! Well, Darien's wings are that good. They are lightly battered, delicately fried with a hint of soy flavor and extremely moist. They also come with other seasonings like BBQ, but the natural ones are the best. Of course, the regular Chinese fare is on par with other take-out places, so if you want add-on food with your wings, the egg rolls and chicken almond ding are decent. The egg drop soup has a taste of vinegar. A family member is Asian and he couldn't even eat the egg drop soup. The eggs rolls much smaller. General Taos chicken was more spicy with red chili pepper than any where else that we have gone. So heads up if ya order it you might want to order it less spicy. I know it is generally spicy. The restaurant itself has become dilapidated. Overtime this happens if you don't keep up with maintenance it simply deteriorates. Offers the very rare dinner special with plenty of food plus an egg roll, choice of white or chicken fried rice and choice of soup (egg drop or hot and sour). You could dispense with the soup (though I wouldn't) and get a can of soda instead. This is a very small place - four tables max, and more than one are two-tops. The kitchen is pretty small too. The guys working here are really earning their pay. They're constantly on the move. The counter service was friendly and helpful during the ordering process. The food: Chicken with cashew nut: Lots of veggies in this one. My mom enjoyed it quite a bit. The chicken was some shade of otherworldly pale white. I'm guessing it was poached??? Mongolian Beef: My dad enjoyed the flavor of this dish and was overwhelmed by the portion size (dinner special). He did comment that the beef was a little bit tough & dry. General's Chicken: This is one of my guilty pleasures. Even so, I do have an ideal version in my mind that I compare versions of this dish to. I liked the flavors of this dish, but the very best General Tso's chicken retains some of its fried crunch. In this one, there was no contrast in texture, really. I ordered it I was told 45 minutes for delivery and it was well over an hour and 15 minutes, and the order wasn't complete. I had never been there, drove past many a time and today was the day, I walked in 30 minutes before closing and ordered the Mongolian beef, and egg rolls, of course. The location in a strip mall has 2 tables so we will say this is meant to take out, delivery is available. On the wall lists practically everything, beef, pork, chicken, seafood, vegetable, egg foo young, sweet and sour, chop suey, chow mein, noodles, and Thai cuisine. There were also family meal options feeding 2, 3 or four people. Even party trays were available. Lunch and dinner specials and house specials to. Ten minutes was the time I had to wait and my order was ready. There was no need to speed home the food was plenty warm. The Mongolian beef was served with white rice, and the beef was seasoned to my liking, with just a little kick. The beef was very good but was served with onions and peppers, a lot of peppers. The peppers were good, but there were, a lot, a tad too many for my liking. More beef less peppers would have been better, it just wasn't balanced evenly. The egg rolls were standard fare. The accommodating sauces were included with my meal. I was hungry, I came, I left, I ate, I was no longer hungry. Next time I'm hungry, Darien Chop Suey will be an option. read more

The gentleman that took my order informed me that my order was not $20 but he told me that he would give me the free Crab Rangoon anyway. I've tried a few Chinese places in the area and this one is my favorite so far. They have solid shrimp fried rice with a decent amount of veggies and little shrimp. I prefer this preparation. I don't like it when there are 3 large shrimp on top cause I want to get shrimp on each bite. The pot stickers are ginormous but tasty. The Singapore noodles were dry and not that spicy so I'd stay away from those. But if you're like me and like veggies and small shrimp in your fried rice, this is a good spot. read more

I am a huge Pad Thai fan, but this Pad Thai disappointed. It had an orange sauce and tasted like the microwaved versions you can buy at the store. Not much flavor. The tofu lacked flavor as well. My husband really enjoyed his Singapore Chow Mein Fu. The Chicken Fried rice was fantastic as were the crab rangoons - not too greasy like other places. Food is pretty good and plentiful. The problem is with how they talk to (degrade) their customers when things get busy, at lunchtime in particular. Maybe they should hire someone to take phone orders because this seems to be a huge source of stress for the guy up front, who I assume is one of the owners. I would give 2 and a half stars. You just can't treat customers that way and expect us to keep coming back for more, unless you like someone snapping at you when your food is ready. Too many options out there where the owners treat people like they care about their continued business. read more

Really, really solid local Chinese takeout restaurant. Jumbo fried rice is our go to, and they use quality shrimp that don't taste like rubber.
