Another brunch in the books--and I love brunching! We headed to Chicago from STL and decided to try Cebu, and it did not disappoint. The restaurant had a calm vibe with beautiful decor--perfect for a relaxed birthday celebration for my hubby. But let me tell you, the service was THE BEST. The staff was attentive, friendly, and kept everything flowing smoothly from start to finish. The food? Absolutely amazing. Every plate was generous, beautifully prepared, and packed with flavor. We left with full bellies, empty glasses, leftovers in hand, and big smiles on our faces. A couple of us enjoyed the bottomless mimosas--large pours and consistently refreshed by the staff (yes, there's a time limit, so don't get crazy!). A lot better than expected. It looked like a crap shack but the food didn't taste like crap thankfully. New Chinese Kitchen is among the cheaper eating options in Woodridge. Even though it's cheap, the portions are big. The food is much better tasting than a typical Chinese restaurant in a strip mall and they have more than the usual all too common items. It seems to do all its business only by carryout. I ordered the Hong Sue Tofu to go. This is one of the less common Chinese food items you typically find in a place like this. It's $9.65 for a pretty big amount. This has vegetables like broccoli and peppers. It's covered in a spicy and sticky sauce that gives it a quite bold flavor. Pretty good amount of food in this. Has enough for a couple meals. The tofu was cooked enough so it wasn't too hard or soft. Good place for carryout Chinese. It has some good healthier choices to get. Nothing about the food at this place was even halfway decent. I went there for Chinese food cause I live just down the street and I really had a taste for Chinese so since it's called Chinese Kitchen how could I go wrong. This has definitely got to rank as the very worst Chinese establishment I've even gone to. I guess they specialize in Filipino food, but then they should change their name to reflect that and not be called new Chinese kitchen. If I decide and that's a big IF to go again and try something else it will definitely not be Chinese food. I may try one of their Filipino specialties. We've ordered from this restaurant at least 1 or 2x a month during the past 5-6 years and never had a terrible meal until they showed new owners before we left to go North in May! Tonight we decided Chinese would be a perfect way to celebrate our anniversary at home so I called in an order of walnut shrimp and General Taus chicken for my husband plus 2 appetizers. I asked for sauces for both appetizers and dinners. My walnut chicken didn't look like that pictured in the online menu--no breading on cool shrimp and cool unadorned broccoli, 1/3 small cup of cold white sauce and my husbands chicken was very dry, Egg rolls and crab Rangoon were lukewarm but fine. When I called to complain about my shrimp, the woman was no help and didn't tell me how to heat sauce and seemed to just brush me off, then hung up. I wrote a complaint to the manager which couldn't be submitted. So I'm turning to Yelp. We paid $47.85 cash for meals which were horrible and will never return and plan to tell my family and friends about our experience! When it got here, the egg rolls were mediocre, very little meat and it tasted very different than other restaurants but i didnt expect it to taste like every other restaurant so i didnt complain. UNTIL i opened the egg foo young's and figured out that they were partially burnt and you couldn't even poke into the chicken. I almost choked trying to chew on a piece of the chicken. OMG - not in a good way. Something is not right at this place. The food is not edible, it had a strange odor and the meat (chicken and pork) tasted sour. The meet was chewy and the chicken stringy. I would guess the meat was old. The egg roll was disgusting, gummy in the center, undercooked and filled with fat. I had to spit out my bite. The hot and sour soup was a strange sweet and the pork strips smelled disgusting. Again, probably old. The Szechwan chicken was supposed to have some heat/spice but it was lacking and the 2 chicken tenders put in there were in the same class with the other meat - old, sour and stringy. So glad I stumbled upon this place while googling for a Chinese take out. This used to be my go to place when I used to live in Woodridge years ago. Anyways, looks like new ownership and they added a Filipino menu. I figured why not support local. My wife and I ordered the Aristocrat chicken, Pork Sisig, and Pancit Guisado. While waiting for our food, the guy over the counter offered us a sample of Beef Pares. Very Tasty and authentic. Will be back for that next time. We couldn't wait to dig in the pork sisig. I'm telling you this is the best sisig around! All we needed was some San Mig and it feels like we're back home in the Philippines. Everything we ordered tasted great and was plentiful for the price. Let me start off saying that I want to like this place. But it probably won't happen. Visited here one evening and purchased beef in black bean & garlic sauce, egg roll and chicken rice soup. I loved the egg rolls. They are small but they give you 3 per order. The chicken rice soup was very good and can come in handy with the cold, flu, COVID season among us. Those two things may bring me back. Service was decent. The beef in black bean & garlic sauce was not good. The beef itself was meaty but very chewy. Not tender at all. First unfortunately and I've had this with other Chinese style restaurants the person on the phone is very impatient and on the verge of being rude. I understand they are busy but hire someone to answer the phone vs doing everything. I understand that was a busy Saturday but not everybody knows everything about Chinese food I ordered Beef with vegetable Cantonese Chow mein And Beef fried rice Egg rolls I'll admit the portions were large with both the rice and with the chow mein. Sadly that was the best of it.  The beef fried rice had strips of beef in it with very little to no flavor along with boring flavored brown colored rice. I saw nothing else in it.  The Cantonese chow mein, the noodles were just spaghetti noodles with their version of Cantonese sauce or flavoring. Sadly the noodle was the most flavorful part of the whole meal. The beef again flat strips was tender but lacking in flavor.  The vegetables the small amounts that were added were rubbery and no flavor and mostly sprouts. A tiny place in small mall on Woodward and 75th. We just finished up the shopping at Meijier's and decided to try this place. I called up first to order the chicken and a veggie dish. The package was ready for me to pick up when we walked into this place about 10 minutes later. The old gentleman at the counter was very nice to me. He added the fortune cookies, chopsticks, and chili oil/sauce container into our package once I walked in there. He has correctly assumed I like the spicy food and use the chopsticks. Red Chili Chicken was basically the chicken breast stripes soaked in chili sauce with red chilli peppers and onions. Spicy and tasty. If you love spicy food, dipping the chicken in the chili oil/sauce makes the chicken taste even better. It is fairly close to Lao Sichuan's chilli chicken with bigger pieces of chicken and non-fried. The Veggie deluxe was a typical Americanized Chinese dish with a light brown sauce all over over-cooked veggies. Nothing special. It is a nice Americanized Chinese take out place. I got the chicken with broccoli, however it should have been called broccoli with broccoli as there were only 4 or five small pieces of chicken and the rest packed with broccoli I couldn't finish. The fried rice tasted like it had been made with coffee or some other odd flavor. Something didn't taste right with it and it was barely edible. The potstickers were the only good part of the meal as they were cooked perfectly and the flavor combined with dipping sauce made them even more delicious. I don't think I will be going back. It had a decent amount of stuffing and was your standard triangle Rangoon. The taste was off for us and we can't peg exactly what it is. - sesame chicken: This was the worst sesame chicken I've ever had, and I've had a lot of sesame chicken. The chicken was actually moist, but the crust tasted like a dried out roaster chicken with some sesame seeds thrown on it. The sauce tasted like thin, not very flavorful brown gravy. - red chili chicken: my husband thought it was ok. It was spicy, but a little on the salty side. This shit was the worst I've ever had, normally egg foo young is the safest dish at Chinese restaurants, not this place. NCK has been our favorite Chinese restaurant for 20 years! Actually, once the ownership changed a couple years ago, the quality has gone down hill. I still love the egg rolls & shrimp fried rice, but everything else is so bland and flavorless. I ordered shrimp lo mein and requested them to make it spicy. That didn't happen. The shrimp egg foo young was also underwhelming tonight. We did not get any soy sauce, sweet sauce or hot mustard for our egg rolls (this was a first). No fortune cookies either. The kids wanted to charge me for throw away chop sticks. I said. Look I just bought this to share your food with friends. It's Chinese, I just need 2 chop sticks. Because 1 uses a fork. Nope. New Chinese Kitchen has been around for many years, my numerous experiences with them have been no less than perfect. New Chinese Kitchen isn't like your average Chinese take out where food portions are small, and ingredients aren't fresh; they're the exact opposite. Cheap food, enormous portions, great taste. I'm not talking about a bit bigger than normal, their boxes are loaded with food! This has been consistent for many years, food portions have not gone down at all. I've tried plenty of dishes from this place but I do recommend the ones I normally get. - Fried rice (huge portions, always have leftovers, tastes great.) - Crab Rangoon (not too oily, not over-fried) - Sesame Chicken, lets just say its not your average Sesame chicken there's a zing to the sauce and the chicken is never hard. Best Sesame chicken I've ever had. The cashier Jeffery is very friendly, holds a conversation with you and always has a smile on his face. I was surprised how good the food was. I've been going to my friend's house lately for NFL Redzone, so we always just grab food from a place nearby. On the plus side, the order took only 15 minutes, but sadly they're carry-out only. Oh well, not that a big deal. My favorite was the Red Chili Chicken. Juicy chunks of chicken in a spicy chili sauce, scattered with red chilis. Spicy deliciousness! The Jalapeno Fried Rice was pretty good, as well as the General Chicken. Not General Tso's, just General. The one dish the place makes in a very unique way, is their Sesame Chicken. It's not your average sweet chunks of crispy chicken nuggets... it's actually not sweet at all. You get 3 large crispy chicken breasts, sliced up into huge chunks, in a savory sesame sauce. Coming from the city I am familiar with outstanding Chinese food! This place is authentic, it's just average at best. We had the Family Dinner for two which included Won Ton Soup, Egg Rolls, Teriyaki Beef, Orange Chicken, Kung Pao Beef, Fried Rice and Fortune Cookies! You do get quite a lot of food for $26! We ordered a lunch portion of Sweet N Sour Chicken because its my favorite! I'm glad I did because this was probably the best dish that I ordered! The Soup was your average Won Ton, not too bad I'll probably order and eat again. The egg rolls were missing something...........oh yeah taste. I will probably pass on this in the future. The fried rice was decent and so was the Teriyaki Beef. Now for the Orange chicken.......not so good. I actually prefer the Orange Chicken and Panda Express to the Orange Chicken here. Its just not as sweet. I will definitely give them another try especially since its so close to me. I just wont order the egg rolls and Orange Chicken! As a long-time customer, I am very sad to report that we are no longer happy with the food at New Chinese Kitchen. They are under new ownership, have changed their menu and obviously have a new chef... the food just is not the same. The egg foo young was not crispy fried, but a pale color...not friend long enough. The Hunan beef had a totally different flavor and had no spice to it. We are currently searching for a new go-to Chinese take-out. (Neighbors, who used to get their "dinners for two" are also not happy with the changes...which eliminated that item.) read more

Save your time, and go to any other Chinese restaurant within 2 miles from there. They clearly do not plan to have anyone actually sit in the restaurant and eat. The walls have paint missing, and looks like it is one health inspection away from being closed down. The food has zero taste. When you order something that has a pepper next to it, I would expect it to be spicy. The food was watered down, the egg rolls were reheated frozen egg rolls. The one thing I worried about when I moved to the West coast 2 years ago was leaving this place. Boy, was I right! The food there was so exceptional and I knew it. When I have someone over, I can't wait to share this food with them. Every one of them has been shocked. Hot, fresh and never greasy. Favorites are the Combination Fried Rice, Cashew Chicken and Black Pepper Chicken. I also never got a pot sticker when my son was in town. I am now a vegetarian, but still crave these amazing dishes. I've been eating from here since 2002. This place have very good quality food with open kitchen, which makes it fun to watch. They are always fresh and clean inside ! There are several menu items that I still want to try; however, I always get my favorite dish, which is the Jalapeno Delight. One must experience the ripeness of their jalapeno peppers.
