This place sucks so much. I wish I can give it 0 stars but you can't. And it's our 2nd year in a row going and we were disappointed again. Don't waste your money at this place. It's honestly a complete mistake. $140 for 2 tickets and did not get scared. There were so many people back to back inside the haunted house so there was no time for the people to get ready to scare you. Not scary at all. I was so impressed with this haunt. I've been to a TON over the years (including this one 4 years ago) and this was one of my top experiences ever. First, it's popular - so get there early or be prepared to wait in line or pay extra to skip the line. Buy your tickets online at least a day in advance to save money. Tbh $35 on a Friday night for a 40 minute haunt of this quality is not overpriced by any stretch. If you want to go at the premium time on a Saturday or Halloween weekend, unsurprisingly, it's more expensive. Line moved quickly and I enjoyed the actors interacting with the queue. Second, this is not an EXTREME haunt, so you're not signing waivers and getting touched/shocked/isolated/etc. it's a classic maze with scare actors interacting with you through spooky scenes and tableaus. You enter in groups of 6, so find 5 friends if you don't want to be paired with randos. The production value inside the haunt is just incredible -- the level of detail and environmental immersion is honestly better than what Universal Studios is doing at HHN. I was truly impressed. TONS of actors throughout, great animatronics, imaginative puppets, sheer creativity -- and wonderful storytelling! You guys outdid yourselves. Can't wait to come back again. read more

So fucking cool. Honestly one of the best experiences I've been too. I'm not a person that's easily spooked, but it really didn't matter. The detail of every room and the actors was so meticulously done to perfection. The lights, sounds, scripts, timing was all so well done. My aunt said it was like 15 min and not worth $60, but she is very wrong. We were walking through for about 45 minutes, sometimes being in one room longer than others, cause there was a long line. I had never been to a haunted house before, and neither had my boyfriend, so we thought this would be the perfect spooky experience for Halloween. I am a horror fan and do not scare easily, and this absolutely blew me away. The atmosphere was immersive, the costume design was spectacular, and the actors were nothing short of fantastic. You won't be touched, but they WILL invade your personal space. Each area has an immersive set and its own monsters, making for an incredible experience. I found myself getting scared far more than I expected, but it never crossed the line where I wasn't having fun. I'm impressed! read more

It would have been a 5 star amazing experience if we didn't run into one of their employees who appeared to be wearing an Aladdin costume, claimed to be dressed as a "Mexican" (because that's just hilarious), and was literally wearing blackface. We have been coming here every year and it had never disappointed until last night. Each group now has a worker that escorts your group, I thought this was an amazing idea, but the worker DOESNT do their job. The group ahead us was going SO SLOW that we ended up interfering with them and it wasn't fun nor scary anymore, since they were spoiling everything for us. What's the point of having an escort if they are not going to walk the group faster? At the end of the experience, We communicated it to our escort, and instead he blamed us for not coming in an earlier date that there were not a lot of people. Make it make sense, first of all, there were not a lot of people. I have been in peak days were the line was on the street and the experience has been better than this one. Just spread more the groups instead of blaming the customer for choosing a day to come! Anyways, I guess this was our last time here, we will try the Cutting Edge haunted house next! read more

I've been to alot of haunted houses, and this is no different. I wanted to do the best option they had which was the VIP experience. Hands down a really fun time and amazing set designs. My only issue really is the lack of time you're in for the amount you pay. I paid 120 for two fast passes, food/beverages in the vip room, I got to scare people both in person and through a screen. All really fun! If you go with friends or family I promise it's worth the time, but again unless you go twice the actual experience is 30-35 min long. I hope this was helpful :) read more

Every year, my family and I search for the best haunted houses, and I honestly don't know how we missed this Gem. From beginning to end, the actors, the costumes make up, and set designs went above and beyond what was anticipated. You can tell this was a labor of love, and the entire staff treat it as such. Super friendly and outgoing. Once you come out of the haunt, they have a wide selection of t-shirts and other items. Heads up, they do not have concessions, so eat before you come. But they have clean restrooms and water fountains. (Beats using porta potties at other haunts) I will definitely be returning with more friends before the end of this season and intend on making this a must for yearly stops. read more

I can't believe the money I spent on this place! Almost 70 for one big attraction. the theming was all over the place, the characters outside were okay, I liked the tall black creature, he was my favorite. My least favorite had to be the pumpkin type character with that overwhelming scratchy voice. Yikes! How can she still talk after that? The inside was cool. I just wouldn't waste 70$ bucks on that. Dark Haunted House has now been open for years and this is the only time we manage to visit. It was the perfect time because they are doing Krampus theme and he is my ultimate folklore character ever. I love the costumes and their production. You get free entertainment while waiting in line and that's a plus because they always get long lines and wait. Another plus is the inside line and not out in the cold or heat like other haunted house around. Will definitely check out their other theme for different season and can't wait to check them out again during Halloween, I've heard so much greatness about it. read more

I went to Dark Hour Haunted House in 2016 (last year) with friends and have experience with this particular Haunted House. Parking is not terrible but you'll have to walk a bit and search for a spot. That's to be expected at any large scale event such as this. In October of 2017 Dark Hour literally "dropped the ball" so to say in its overall efforts refreshing last year's production of its haunted house. Management got lazy in responsibility for producing a good fresh product this year. You'd think that you'd want to dazzle patrons from the last year that wanted to spend this year as well. In 2017 I invited eight friends to come with me and enjoy Dark Hour. After my fantastic 2016 experience I thought it was a great idea to invite friends, coworkers, and clients to take part in this. My first hint that it wasn't as lively was that there weren't as many actors outside of the venue (Saturday night past 9pm). The 2016 production had a score of scary actors (midgets, stilts, and relevant horror films actors) where people could take photos (for social media) and be excited about what was yet to come inside later. Not even half of that was outside this year for 2017. Inexplicably the amount of time this year was shorter at 25minutes that last year's. They should have called it Dark Half Hour for 2017. 1.) Dark Hour 2016 had built a haunted stage coach in the first large room before you were allowed into to the second large waiting room. As we were lined up you'd look/examine the life size stage coach not knowing that the driver was actually alive before he gets up with a mic to start explaining how we are to be let into the Haunted House and details that we needed to know as patrons. Genius & Excellent!! For 2017....nada in that room but a cheap vendor stand to take cheesy photos and a small electronic witch stirring a pot on the side of it. The rest of the room bare with only the rest rooms. Second Large "holding room" 2.) This room was a gigantic disappointment for me as a returning 2016 patron. In 2016 The second large room where patrons of the haunted house await direct entrance to Dark Hour had a live show that used great actors, flames, & smoke while telling a creative scary story (Egyptian Undead). It was epic and a great start before entering the actual haunted house. 2017.....two prerecord actors on three tv screens. Some signs that were literally made with either red or black sharpie markers on it's small set. Zero energy. Again, second disappointment for a returning 2016 customer. Inside the actual haunted house: 3.) Several rooms used recycled sets made for 2016's haunted house as well as the pathways you walked. It's not that hard to create new sets for this type of place. It made me think that there was little to no money invested into a new 2017 production. Of course the space age set was the best again at the end of the first haunted house. It was large and the green laser light show was impressive but again it was so reminiscent of last years production as a patron you are simply expecting to see it now after all the same basic set up from 2016. The small second haunted house: 4.) This was a most pleasant surprise after walking the redundant 2016 house. I liked it mostly because it was intelligently done and employed interactive characters that you saw through the length of it. Being one solid motif made it feel like you were in a horror movie. It was a good idea and a step in the right direction. However, it could not save the overall disappointment for me. It would take some serious changes to talk me into being a third year patron at Dark Hour Haunted House. It was far too expensive and didn't evolve from last year's experience significantly to justify it a third time. On a scale using five stars I give it two stars as a returning patron. read more

These people are racist, I came here last year waited in the long line for 3 hours while waiting their was a group ahead of mine that were super intoxicated/popping pills while drinking. That group kept bumping into my minor sister we told them to be careful since they kept backing into us. The guy got mad and went off on us I got an employee who worked there to try to help us with the problem, the employee that worked there decides to yell at us and complain that we were too close to that group! He then got a officer involved and told him we were causing problems with the other group when we never did. The officer did not believe the employee as I told him what was happening, he moved us to the front of the line (& the group starting problems) told that group to throw away the alcohol they had since it was prohibited. A good haunted house should be more than just actors jumping out of random places, and that's all Dark Hour was. It looks like my review is the most recent based on this year's Haunted House (Halloween 2018), so maybe last year's was better since most of those reviews are great. Checked out this Haunted House yesterday with 11 friends. We've all been to haunted houses before and were pretty disappointed with this one. It had a good amount of rooms and themes, but we didn't find any of them scary. All the scares were just people jumping out at you from corners and behind curtains, but after the first few pop outs, it kind of gets old. Plus, most times we could see them standing there "hiding" before we even got in the room. They need to do a better job at spacing the groups out. Perhaps the group in front of us was just super slow, but we kept catching up and having to stand around just to let them get further ahead. We could see all the scares ahead of time just because the group ahead of us was so close. Maybe we didn't find it scary because we're all in our late 20s/early 30s, but every one of us could name other haunted houses we've been to that were better. I've been to a Haunted House where they chase you with a chainsaw and another where you have to jump from a building to escape (onto a large pillow, of course). The entire haunted house lasted about 20 minutes which was shorter than average compared to others I've been to. Also, at $30 a person, our expectations were high, only to leave disappointed. Had dinner here with my daughter who was about 13 at the time. The dinner was catered from a nearby bbq joint and then we went and saw their haunted house that was in the summertime I believe. I had a great time and it was worthy the money. Got some cool and fun pics outside the haunting area and the haunters were scary and yet very respectful to not touch anyone. Dark Hour was a neat experience, I absolutely loved the intricacy of the set design as well as the actors costumes. My favorite part was probably the Wendigo portion of the house with real snow falling down on us and several igloos with fur hides. We also liked the Sea Hag setup with the lighting that made it seem like we were underwater and the ship that actually moved and creaked like a real ship on the sea would. I would like to go back a second time just to experience it again now that I know what I'm getting myself into to see what I might've missed the first time. I wasn't too scared by the house but I was also on the look out throughout for trick doors and other places I thought someone or something might be hiding. My only complaint about the experience is that it is really difficult at times to enjoy the house/get scared when you somehow run into several different groups of people. We tried to slow down (stopping for a few minutes at times even) or speed up our pace to put enough space between us and other groups but we still somehow bumped into them and it's kind of disappointing when you can hear the people in front of you freaking out over something you haven't even experienced yet. It just takes away all of the anticipation you have about what to expect to happen next..I understand that it can get super crowded at times though and they are trying their best to get so many people in all in one night. Also staff can't really control how fast or slow someone moves once they're inside the house. Can't wait to go back! I hope that they'll resume some of their other year-round attractions in the near future so I can experience those as well. read more

Went with my family of 6 including an 11-year-old and 13-year-old. We had fun - not too scary but plenty of surprises. I had a smile on my face the whole time and my wife and I definitely jumped a few times. We arrived at 7:45 on Oct 30th and I couldn't believe the crowds. Had to park way down the street and when we saw the hundreds of people in the switchback queue I was so glad we splurged for the Fast Pass option when we bought the tickets in August. It was the best $120 I ever spent. We walked right in with no wait, and the lady at the door said the current wait was 3 hours. When we left at 8:30 the line was even longer and they close at 12:00 so I'm not sure how they will get everyone in! Summary - don't expect the scariest haunted house on the planet. Just good fun for all ages. The Fast Passes are gold, especially close to Halloween. read more

One word...... AMAZING! When we pulled up it was free parking so there was no need to worry about any parking fees (YAY!) There were some creepy monsters and creepy things to meet us at the door, I guess you could say it was very "welcoming" When we walked in we printed our tickets in advance so we skipped the long ticket line. They handed us official tickets so we could get in line. The line moved by pretty fast because we were so distracted by the monsters and the inline entertainment. It was just me and my father so they made us go in with a big group of people. When we entered the house and the house was very "open" so not very scary because actors can't really get In your face. But I must say, the details and props are some of the best I've ever seen in my whole life! Very detailed and put together! Is it worth your money? Definitely! I've seen the billboard for this place and decided to visit during the opening weekend. It's located inside the old Sports Authority right across from the Fry's Electronic of Plano Parkway and 75. Right off the bat, something that I thought was super unique was they put on a dance number while I was waiting in line to enter the house. The house itself has animatronics, the people who yell and hoot and holler, and all that good stuff. Some of it looks a little hokey, but they definitely have some neat stuff to enjoy. The second house had a little museum area that a tour guide will give a synopsis of, and the it's onto the second terrain. If you buy the combo ticket, just note that the second house took a little under 10 minutes to walk through while the 1st is about 20-30. It's worth it to buy both, but I'm only making note so people don't think that they're getting two full haunted houses. Would I say this is the best haunted house I've been to? No. Did I have a great time? Yes and I would totally recommend anyone who's in the area to come visit, but I wouldn't tell someone to drive an hour each way. read more

Quite possibly one of the best haunts I've been too ... and it's a first year haunt! The owners I've heard spent a TON of money on this place, and for what you see you are getting your moneys worth! I even had gotten a $3 off coupon from them! I would for sure go for the combo ticket, the second "smaller" attraction was more old school but very awesome. The second haunt was associated with another multiple haunt attraction park and joined up with Dark hour this year. So you may recognize some of the items in the monster museum if you have been to it before, but the rest of the second half of their haunt is all new with it being all indoors now. I look forward to coming back next year to see what they do to when they have more than a couple months to get everything put together. read more

We were part of the last group of the night @ 10pm and had to wait in line for about an hour. For good reason they were spacing the groups out so we wouldn't run into each other once we were inside the zombie course. It all started with a 3 minute escape room which we figured out(good luck on this,not easy) hint:Zombie is one of the clue words. If you don't get the clue done in time the zombie sitting in the room with you wakes up and attacks you. Once in the Zombie course it all out, don't run because the walls have open holes that they can reach out and grab you. The Zombie course has an amazing element of surprise and the action is non stop. You will have a break in the middle of the course where they re-load your gun after that the course get more intense with moving floors and completely dark rooms. So dope, machine guns has a real feel and sound like your really shooting. read more

This spot takes a special little place in my heart as far as "haunted houses" go. 1.Cause of location - right by work and I didn't have to pay for parking 2. Cause it was my first "haunted house" since I've been to Texas and 3. Cause it's freaking awesome. The walk (for lack of a better word) is long. It lasted about 20 minutes. The line to actually get in wasn't super long and the entertainers were outside of the attraction preparing you for the thrills and chills you were about to take on. I LOVED it. The costumes and makeup were great, the acting was amazing, and the attention to detail was spot on. They let people in small groups go and they space it out so you don't run into the people ahead of you. Makes for a way better experience. If you are looking for some fun and scares go here. Go now! So this is the 3rd time I've been to dark hour in 5 years. I was blown away the first time i went for the Halloween season, then I went 2 years ago for Christmas and absolutely loved it, I was excited to go this year for the Halloween season to check out Carl's playhouse, one thing that stood out to me was Carl was missing tonight, the actor that plays Carl has been such a integral part of the atmosphere I didn't realize how empty the place is without him walking around interacting with guests. Carl's playhouse was a huge disappointment to me. It just felt so empty. It had so much potential, but I personally think it actually doesn't add anything to dark hour at all other than an extra 10 minutes of walking and 20 or so minutes of waiting in line. And I might be wrong but I'm pretty sure the actor that is Carl inside Carl's playhouse is not actually carl. The main attraction this year I think suffered from it's nightmare theme which just didn't work for me. Also it seemed like the timing for scares were really bad tonight, so much empty halls and it just seemed really disorganized. The do have some really cool scenes and some good animatronics. The group spacing started out good then we got stuck behind a couple that kept going back and forth making us wait awkwardly for the next rooms which greatly ruined the experience Overall I think tonight was probably just a bad night and I understand there are so many moving pieces, and the people in front of us just kept trying to go backwards, I just don't know if I would come back after tonight, I just left with a feeling of disappointment read more

Can I rate this place ZERO stars?! I don't even know where to begin. This was by far the WORST "haunted" house I have ever, ever experienced. First off, it is not scary in the slightest. I completely wasted $42 and me and my 3 friends are so pissed off. For $42, you expect to at least jump once; I didn't get scared ONE time throughout this experience. They do not manage groups well, and groups are constantly running into each other. We went on a Saturday night around 10:30, and there were no lines to get in. At this point, we should've realized something was wrong. It was a complete and utter joke. If you want to actually be scared, go to Reindeer Manor in Red Oak. I been here 7 times in the last 4 years. I've taken my staff and over 40 clients here 4 times and I've come here with my wife 2x and my 9 year old son once. I love haunted houses! Dark hour is easily my favorite of all of the DFW attractions. Cost less, shorter lines and better looking layouts than the cutting edge, which is the nation's largest haunted house. Better than slaughterhouse, screams and zombie Safari as far as quality of product and it come with a fair price point. Tip - make sure you do both houses! Things I miss - my favorite thing ever done here was the opening thriller act I saw 3 years ago. Nothing has ever come close to that since then. Keeping the groups to a max of 4 people makes it more enjoyable for everyone to get a high level of thrills. Over the years I've noticed the outside staff being less engaging and scary, I miss these factors. Love this place!
