I've been looking for a local game store to play commander on the weekends when my home playgroup couldn't come together. I thought I had visited and tried out each game store in a 25 mile radius from my house. The stores I was playing at were ok but not great. Dark Side games checked every single box on my wishlist for a place to play. Great mtg single selection. Price matching with TCGplayer marketprice. 12 clean and well lit tables. Air conditioning full blast. ( I started being a sweatshirt with me to the store and couldn't be happier about). Lots of snacks and drinks. And a HUGE commander community. I never have problems finding games. On any given Saturday there are 4-6 pods playing 4 player games. The most important part of a good store is the staff. The staff is so friendly and kind. I'll often times find myself just hanging out at the counter talking magic for a half hour with them when I came to play. Super helpful finding singles, information, and even games if you're nervous about asking strangers to get in their game. Truly the best game store experience consistently every time I go. read more

Im not one to write reviews for Yelp, this maybe the only review Ive ever written tbh, but I felt deep impassioned to write a review for this truly special place. Ive had many interactions with Adam and Josh, the owners as well as Jeff. They are all incredible guys. Always exceptionally nice and helpful. Not to be too revealing, I struggled with serious relapses from addiction and I would go to the store when I was recovering. I spoke in length to Adam about my struggles and he always was beyond empathetic and supportive. I felt like the store was truly a safe place for me to go to and kind of get my mind of personal stuff. Adam always said come in if I was struggling or even call! If you think about this: this just isn't the kind of experience you have at stores/places. I honestly was deeply touched by this. There is truly a sincere community at this store which comes from top down. Ive never had an issue picking up a game here as well. Everyone here in my experience has been welcoming, helpful, and inclusive. There's also great A/C and the tables and chairs are nice. The store itself is very stocked compared to a lot of other stores. Ive had weird net decks Ive come in to be built for commander and they pull almost 90%-95% of the decks for me. They're stocked with strange lands from all the sets and tokens as well, even mis-cuts (which is pretty awesome). They also offer a tremendous amount of insight how to tweak a deck or what cards would be useful outside of net decks that Ive brought in to pull. Adam and Josh have also gone into personal stashes of cards pulling things for me that weren't in their massive display cases to help the deck out. They are just so dedicated to the game and one can tell they adore the art and have real appreciation for it's history and evolution. I also sold off a large portion of my old cards to them. Adam slowly went through my collection (unlimited-alliances) and gave very fair prices for things they needed. It was a lot of fun to see him light up over the early cards. He also was very conscious of cards I should keep for commander as well as telling me to hold on to my big $ cards or possibly grade them. Never was there any pressure from him to sell stuff. It was fun watching him go through the vintage era, as it was a big piece of my childhood. I also attended an event pre release here for commander 2019 and Ravnica. It was a blast! Like a party-high energy and fun games. This store is so special. Other stores are great in the LA area, but this is truly a unique and welcoming store. I could sing their praises for days on end but I had to take a minute and reflect back to a future/potential customer just how cool and sincere this store is. They are in the process of relocating to another larger space within the complex-so there will be a lot more inventory and tables. I only wish great things for them in the future! They deserve it. Nothing but deep admiration for these guys and making me feel part of. Ive learned a lot about commander here but also have felt like Ive made real friends. I think about this a lot, and how much it has meant to me on a heart level. read more

Fantastic place to go for all your Magic the Gathering needs. The store feels real homey and chill and the environment just makes you want to stay there for hours. Adam, the owner is a super genuine and nice guy. He's always helping me out with everhthing even when I'm asking him to pull out multiple cards to build for my deck. I spent quite a lot of time at this location earlier this year. Haven't quite had the availability to spend more time here but definitely a great place to spend your time on a free night. While on vacation to visit family in California, I recently had also gotten reacquainted with the hobby of collecting and playing Magic: The Gathering again. It'd been well over 20 years since I last played an official game, built a deck, ripped open a booster pack or even laid eyes and hands on a card since Tempest. That was in 1998. While I was on vacation I decided to scope out a couple of local game shops, this one included, and this one was the most pleasant, amazing experience out of all of them. The other stores weren't at all bad, but this place had something special about it. I hear there are two owners, Josh and Adam. Adam was the only one I officially got acquainted with, and that man delivered well within the scope of singles I was looking for. He didn't have everything on hand, but that's understandable, you win some you lose some. What he did have though, was a vast selection of the one creature type I was looking for: Slivers. And boy, did I get quite a few of them off of Adam. What made it even more special was when he leveled with me on playing Magic back in the day when Slivers first came out during The Rath Cycle block (Tempest, Exodus, Stronghold), and what a trip down memory lane that was. Made me feel like a teenager again, what a joy that was. To commemorate the occasion, my sister-in law who accompanied me (who I also recently converted into Magic: TG) and I bought 3 packs of boosters each before leaving; the first set of boosters I've had the privilege of buying in over 20 years!! Being there was a big moment for me as far as a return to form kind of thing goes, and I'm glad Dark Side accommodated that experience so graciously. The time I spent looking around at the rest of what this store had available, asking questions and having them answered promptly and honestly, as well as just being able to speak openly one on one with one of the owners was a nice touch. After coming back to my hometown after vacation, I miss this place already. Even more so when I went back to my own local store here in town and did not feel the same sort of hospitality as I did at Dark Side. While there were a lot more stores I wanted to check out in the area I vacationed in, this one in my mind feels and seems like the sort of place other LGS's need to aspire to. My only regret and wish is that I lived closer to this place so I could come back regularly. If and when I ever come back to visit and feel the need to hit the ground running in search of card singles, you bet I'll be heading straight over to Dark Side Games. I'm already looking forward to my next visit out to Cali just for this one game shop alone. read more

I attended Dark Side Game's first Friday Night Magic and it was really awesome. The owners are super nice and passionate, so it is a great atmosphere. All of the people were nice and excited about the new game space. The store is very appealing physically, with everything very clean and new, and very well lit. There is tons of free parking since it is in a Target shopping center and walkable food everywhere. It is a great place to hang out and game. It's a great spot and I look forward to attending more events in the future. I highly recommend it. read more

Decided to get back in Warhammer 40k due to having some extra time on my hands so I decided to swing by here to check things out. Long story short, I had an amazing experience and walked out with my wallet a little lighter. When in today to look for some Magic The Gathering packs for my son. They recently opened so the store is still finding it's legs. However, it was clean, well lit and a decent amount of tables available. They are working to expand their table top games as right now it is very small. Josh, who is one of the owners, was very friendly and helpful. He offered to teach my son as he is a new player which was very cool. They have a rewards program for those who spend a lot (expected if you play collectable card games). This store will be something to watch and keep tabs on. Games stores are a tough business model and I've seen many open and close so time will tell. But if you have a friendly store it is a good foundation to build on. read more

Came in here to purchase dice for my electric football league I am in and was afraid to have to buy 5 different sets since I needed a specific number of different sided dice. The gentleman that helped me informed me that you can buy them individually which saved me a ton of cash. No much of anything Pokemon related, but easily the best customer service a card shop has to offer which is what I appreciate the most. The staff doesn't try to push sales, doesn't up sell, very welcoming and very patient. The staff treats new and returning customers the same. 10/10 and I don't even play magic. Considering the place has only been open for a short time, this has been one of the best game stores I've ever been to. The prices are solid, the staff are friendly and helpful, and the inventory is well stocked. I especially liked the amount of single cards that they had. I happened to come to this shop just a couple of days after they opened and I haven't spent time at any other place. There are 3 or 4 shops closer to me, but there are NONE that measure up in terms of friendliness, service or environment. Adam and Josh, who run the shop are knowledgeable and passionate about Magic and have created a top tier environment for people to play board games, card games, or even just hang out with other cool people. They have plenty of drinks and snacks to fuel those long sessions and there are other restaurants in the area. The place is clean and well lit and there's always a commander game going on or just about to get started. The people that play here are friendly and welcoming and there is never a shortage of deck building advice or people to bounce ideas off of. It's such a friendly environment, it's clean, stocked well with all kinds of snacks at cheap prices, and the owners Adam and Josh are awesome and do anything possible to get you the best deals on cards. Great, amazing friendly staff. Both owners are friendly people, who in the past have played Magic the gathering so they get what alot of players are looking for. Our local playgroup got to set up Commander easily, and played to our hearts content, and it was a wonderful experience. Good shop, big inventory of MTG cards (with more on the way as they just opened!) clean bathrooms, lots of tables, fair and honest staff, come here if you like Magic the gathering and want to enjoy a solid store to play in! read more
