I had a disappointing experience at Skelton Foreign Auto in Bath. I was originally quoted over…read more$5,000 for the repairs. When I asked specifically about brakes and rotors, the quote was $800-900. Adding an oil change brought the total to roughly $1,150, with the advisor noting it would take about 2 hours of labor just to open the hood. I was able to open the hood myself in around 20 minutes using basic tools after watching a YouTube video. When I called back, the original receptionist said they would remove the oil change. However, the other staff member called me back after and, when I asked questions, quoted $1,150 for just the brakes and rotors, which contradicted the earlier information. I checked my recordings of the calls and confirmed the original $800-900 range for brakes/rotors. It may have been a miscommunication between staff, but the inconsistent quotes left me feeling overcharged and frustrated with the process. I won't be returning.

In less than 30 days I had to bring my car back to them because it randomly wouldn't start, and they had to fix my transmission. I also started randomly experiencing loud ear piercing thumps coming from my speakers, and then one day my radio stopped working all together. about a month and a half ago my car started shaking and over heating one time while I was driving, and my coolant was empty so I refilled it, 2 weeks ago the same thing happened, and again 2 days ago. now I need to get a new radiator plus labor and it's going to cost +$900. it is now august of the same year, and in order to get rid of this piece of junk car that i've only had for 6 months, I have to pay to fix all of the damages on a car that should have never been sold. so thanks for nothing skeletons foreign auto. I recommend nobody trust them

I purchased a 2014 Toyota 4Runner from Harpswell Auto Sales, Inc. with a down payment of over…read more$4,500. Within two weeks of purchase, the vehicle began experiencing serious mechanical and emissions issues, including warning lights and diagnostic fault codes. These problems were reported promptly in writing, and photos and diagnostic information were provided to the dealership at their request. While some early issues were partially acknowledged, additional undisclosed defects later became apparent, including significant structural rust and severe corrosion of the rear lift gate and latch, which appears to have been concealed prior to sale. The lift gate will not remain closed and must be physically restrained, making the vehicle unsafe and unable to pass inspection without approximately $5,000 in repairs. Despite repeated attempts to resolve these issues, the dealership declined responsibility and avoided meaningful written communication. As a result, the vehicle remains defective, and the financial burden has fallen entirely on the buyer/co-signer. I am sharing this experience so others are aware and to seek a fair resolution.

I said, "A left wheel bearing? Are you sure?" They told me with certainty that it needed to be done. It was shot. I said I would call back. After hanging up I went thru my records and saw that they charged me $1,100 for a left wheel bearing and right control arm in Dec 2024. The only difference was that the car was under my name in Dec, and under my husbands name in Sept, so they didn't realize they had already done it and not that long ago. When I called back they sort of fumbled and said that it must have been a faulty wheel bearing and that it happens from time to time but that it was under warranty and to come back to have it done. So after a lot of coordinating to bring it back after getting the engine done somewhere else, we got it in this Tuesday only to get a call a few hours later that said, "Your left wheel bearing is fine. You don't need one." To which I said, "Then how were you so certain it needed to be done before?" They didn't have a clear answer. Without going more into detail, I don't trust this establishment and have since heard very similar experiences from others.
