I recently finished my car shopping experience, which I am very glad didn't end at Lee! I made an appointment online to see a car I was interested in and a different person helped me than I expected, which was the first of a few misleading things. I do appreciate that my time was respected as I had a hard stop to my appointment time and my questions were answered. But the people here were a little pushy and unable to make a decent deal. The car I was looking at also had 3k more miles on it than it was listed as online. It was otherwise a suitable vehicle for me and the test drive was good, but vehicles I was looking at elsewhere were priced better. Therefore, I was surprised when they said they don't negotiate whatsoever on prices. They also insisted on looking at my current vehicle to assess the trade in value, even though I didn't express interest I having them do that, and they gave me a laughable value. Ultimately, I purchased a nearly identical Rav4 (same trim, etc) elsewhere with 4k more miles for $5.5k less. read more

Bought a 2022 Toyota Highlander new in April of 2022 had 34 miles on it. All service has been done and at 69000 miles the transmission failed. Come to find out it's not just my vehicle but thousands of highlanders. The dealership knew this was an on going issue because of multiple service bulletins issued by Toyota, yet they said nothing to us when we purchased this vehicle. Now we're stuck with a $9703 repair bill that Toyota North America is only going to help with 25%. AGAIN 69000 miles. Lee and Toyota do not stand behind their products. Lee Toyota charged $100 to diagnose our faulty air conditioner. They estimated a cost of over $2300! I took it elsewhere to a trusted service provider that I had used in New Hampshire. They implemented the same repair for $420. Had I gone with Lee Toyota, it would have cost me $2000 more. I question the honesty and/or competency of a service department that would overcharge by that much. I should have know better .. they previously charged (fortunately under warranty) over $1000 to repair a windshield wiper. This place is not to be trusted. read more

Truly an unbelievably horrible experience. Led by Erik Munchmore - this place is a mess and should be avoided at all costs. If you work there, i'd find a new job cause i don't see how this place stays in business unless it's a supply shortage of some kind. We sent our car in 6 weeks ago. My mom just had a stroke and is handicapped and this is the only car she can use. They said it would be ready in a week. It's now been six weeks of calling endlessly, being told it's "almost done" and then hearing nothing. Currently, I do not recommend Lee Toyota. Lets start with the positives and transition to my reasoning. I had a generally positive 4 star experience with purchasing my vehicle: 2020 Toyota Highlander Platinum AWD. Priced at greater than $50,000. Reading the reviews from Google, Facebook, Yelp and Toyota, Lee Toyota seemed to be an excellent choice. The sales reps were friendly and upfront. They consistently followed up and offered to help in any way. Being seasoned with my history as a personal banker helping customers purchase vehicles, I appreciated that there wasn't a hostile sales environment. During the test drive, I noticed stains on the roof: Attempts from the dealer were made to remove the stains were unsuccessful. By the time I learned of this, the financing and paperwork was already complete. I was assured this would be taken care of by the time I return to have additional accessories installed. Earliest time I could be scheduled for the installation was 20 days after purchase. During this time, I had to personally follow up with my sales person for the progress. It felt like the sales experience was good up until the finalization of purchase and I was let go. Failed to follow up in a professional manner. There were open ticket items. No confirmation to make sure the stain specialist would be available for the appointment. Appointment was for 1:00 and I was quoted 3 hours, which I accepted. At 4:30, I asked for updates and was told that there had been some issues with fitting the side steps and a special tool needed was to be outsourced. I kindly requested to be out by 5 since I had prior engagements.  * This mishap showed Lee Toyota was not prepared for my service appointment, which was scheduled in advance. We had to reschedule for 9 AM the next day. I live an hour away.  * I would have appreciated updates especially at the 3 hour mark or even at the 2 hour mark and along the way while waiting in the lobby. Basic courtesy with customer service. Body side moldings were installed incorrectly. First, instead of washing the vehicle, they cleaned only where the moldings were and returned my vehicle showing spots that were wiped. (There are dealers that wash every car after even an oil change.) The moldings were not aligned to match. See photos. I return the next day after writing a letter to Sales manager and representative detailing the unfortunate events that have unfolded along with the stains. I was promised everything would be taken care of and given a small used 2017 Rav4 as a rental so they could address everything. It fit my dog's crate, which was nice. The following day, I was notified that my vehicle was ready and assured everything was addressed and checked thoroughly. The exterior looked great, they washed the whole vehicle this time, the body side moldings are fixed. It doesn't seem like they just readjusted and added additional adhesive. Time will tell. (Also reason for this review to keep them accountable should the part fall off or show poor workmanship.) Stains still there. Now the fabric looks frayed. I'm not a happy customer. Why wasn't this addressed? If an attempt was made, why wasn't I notified so we can work on solutions? Why are so many things looked over and quality sacrificed? Why is there not a quality control employee? Service manager was able to give me options such as replacing the headliner. You can see there are watermarks and have progressively worsened. We are still in process and my time continues to be wasted on making sure Lee Toyota is accountable for this fiasco. Now, my concerns is that if they replace the headliner. It's a task not commonly done. This could lead to more damage, which I don't want to further deal with. I would have to pay to take it to an independent inspector. If any error or broken part is discovered that will cause a foreseeable problem, I will have to go back and continue being my own advocate for something that should be extended automatically. read more

**BUYERS BEWARE** I don't leave many reviews but this one is needed to warn others. I spoke to Max at Lee Toyota in Topsham about buying a 2021 Toyota 4Runner Nightshade on 12/28/20. He confirmed it was available and we agreed on a price. I had a business check written out and we scheduled an appointment for 1:30pm on the same day. As I was driving down (1hr 45 min drive) I got a call and was told that another salesman sold the car. I'm confused as to how a business could operate like this so I spoke to Max's Sales Manager, Dylan. He confirmed that is indeed what they did because they had a buyer in the store wanting to buy it. So the sales manager Mike Cosgrove gave first pick of the vehicle to someone who had an appointment behind me. Mike is completely unethical and I would never do business with them. Please note if your going to buy a car from Lee Toyota in Topsham... they NO LONGER PROVIDE SERVICE ON SATURDAYS ( but i bet you can purchase a vehicle on saturday). This is VERY inconvenient for those of us that work Monday to Friday. And they are not open late in the day. This means I would have to take time off (loss of income) to go to this dealer to PAY them the BIG dollars they charge for service. They did not survey their customers on this change; they just decided to make this change despite the customers inconvenience and additional cost for getting their vehicle serviced. Took my 4runner in for an oil change and state inspection. We normally wouldn't take it to the dealership since they seem to be much higher priced than most places and we were fortunate in our last location to have family members that were oil technicians and after driving across country recently, we figured the dealership would be the way to go and we would get a good inspection done and if any problems arose, we would be in the right spot to have it repaired. First off, the staff was great and very friendly. The oil change and inspection took about an hour and a half, another plus. They also didn't try to sell me any unnecessary services, except..... My only complaint is that I noticed I was charged $24.99 for the tire rotation. We were under the impression that it was included with the oil change and would have opted out of it if we had known it would be such a steep fee. So as a warning for anyone, inquire about additional services and costs that you would normally assume it's included with your standard service appointment. Lesson learned for next time! read more

Paint issue recall which was addressed by service advisor and referred to manager. This issue will be forwarded to TOYOTA for approval to repaint vehicle. It presently looks terrible. As a side issue, I noted my tire warning light was on and asked for a tire check since my local gas station was unable to determine a problem but did fill all my tires with appropriate air! Zac (service advisor) said he checked and filled tires! Since I have to wait for Toyota approval of "REPAINTING", I left the dealership! After a short distance I noted warning light on AGAIN. I called LEE TOYOTA and informed the phone operator that I was returning and asked she to inform the service dept. Upon returning, I was greeted with HOSTILITY from ZAK. He angrily informed me that he "checked the tire air pressure and filled". When I asked if he had the tires and or the stems checked by service he replied, "NO, I CHECKED". I then informed him that the warnulight was ON and questioned "WHY"? His response was "I DON'T KNOW"!!! I then informed him that I did request that this be checked and he said "I did"! At this point, the assist. service manager approached and asked if he could help. He suggested to Zak Donnell that he get a tech to take vehicle in and place on lift and check all the tires. Gerry Cote, a.s.m. also pulled the spare tire to check the pressure because he said sometimes this is the problem! It was NOT and he then had my vehicle taken into garage for tire check. Although I do not know the technician's name, he report a "finishing nail" was found in driver side front tire! My comment to Zak was that he obviously is LAZY and UNINTELLIGENT! He promptly told me "to get another service advisor when I return". I will be returning because of the paint problem but otherwise, would you??? ZAK DONNELL needs to be sent to the garage and work his way to a service advisor position IF he is to remain with LEE TOYOTA. He probably is someone's son or nephew or family! He didn't have Toyota service attire on. He was in civilian clothes that looked like they came from the bottom of his closet! GERRY COTE issued my invoice with NO CHARGE! He courteously permitted Zak Donnell's name to remain as advisor! Gerry did his very best for me and I am spending all this time because he SAVED LEE TOYOTA. Currently, I do not recommend TOPSHAM TOYOTA. This car dealership is extremely rude in dealing with recalls. RECALLS vehicles NHTSA CAMPAIGN # 20V286002019 (2019 Rav4.) (FRONT LOWER SUSPENSION MAY SEPARATE) RECALL# 20TB08/20TA08. Plus replacing fuel pump recall. You would think this dealership would at lease check this out before putting an new inspection sticker on the vehicle. I don't know if this is representative of incompetence, dishonesty, or just don't care but neither of those reflects very well on your dealership. Look around before buying your next vehicle from Lee. As a customers ready to spend a large amount of money, we are going to want to have a say in the price. Recently, I found a used vehicle on Lee Toyota's website which would have been perfect for me and my family. When I offered to purchase it then and there, for slightly less then the asking prices. I was show a pamphlet stating that Lee Toyota no longer negotiates its prices. When I asked about this I was told don't even bother with an alternate price, I would feel comfortable with because the managers wouldn't even look at my proposal. After hitting a bad pothole (not in Maine), we noticed our Corolla had a bent rim. Service reps from this dealership were So helpful on the phone and said "just bring it in and we'll have a technician take a quick look at it and see what we can do." When we brought it in today, the Service staff continued to be helpful and, despite being short-staffed due to the holiday, immediately got our car to a service bay. Just had an inspection, oil change and tune up and was very pleased with the customer service here. I found that my registration on my vehicle had expired and was frustrated that I would have to reschedule the appointment, when Jim Oulette let me know that we could do a rapid registration online in the store. It took about 15 minutes and they started on my car while I did it. So great! The waiting room was well set up and they had my car done by the time they estimated. Great experience! read more

So, not only did you want to charge me for an airbag that did not need to be replaced, but you also failed to diagnose the car's actual problem. These guys are CRAZY! Had an appointment to estimate frame replacement on my 05 4Runner. This car has 80,000 miles on it. It is immaculate except for Toyota's CRUMMY FRAMES!! I was told 40 hrs labor, (flat rate manual is 30). Frame is $5500. They came up with $13,500. to change the frame. With flat rate, and cost of frame, the job should be around $8000. The scare tactics then began. Jacked up prices, added on other repairs needed, the estimate was elevated to nearly $20,000. Some of the repairs were fictitious. Transmission pan leak,, for $750. NOT LEAKING!!! "significant engine oil leak" . 80,000 miles damp enough to collect dust. Have not lost or added oil in a YEAR!!! They wanted $1400. to repair this "significant leak" Yes the axle boots are leaking, a needed repair. The price was OUTRAGIOUS !! ($1400)? Any MECHANIC could replace both axles in an hour/ + 1/2... Axle cost, $200. each. They wanted to replace the steering rack for no reason, just suggested....$2500. So, Folks, keep your card close to the vest when going here. I purchased a highlander from this dealership, the sales process was good however, if you want your free oil change expect to wait 2 weeks for them to fit you in, this has been the case the last few times I have made appointments. They obviously need more help if they can't do an oil change for 2 weeks. We found what appeared to be the perfect vehicle to meet our needs advertised by Lee Toyota on eBay motors. Had a pleasant, no pressure experience by email and phone with internet salesperson, David Poisson, during which we received an all-inclusive, written purchase agreement. We drove three hours to the dealership, where Drew To greeted us and took us for a test drive. The Toyota Certified 2012 Sienna LE was definitely NOT "reconditioned to Toyota's exacting standards", by any stretch of the imagination! We pulled a cracker, loads of sand and a broken hair elastic out of the rear seat tracks, more sand from beneath the jump seat and found the upholstery stained and dirty. There were an unusual number of scratch marks on the drivers door handle, a four inch long scrape near the drivers headlight and a fist sized dent in the rear lift gate. After negotiating an allowance for us to pay for reconditioning and damage repair at home (we were NOT going to make another six hour trip to pick up the vehicle), we figured we would be on our way. Boy, were we wrong! The Floor Manager, Mike Cosgrove, actually ARGUED with us about the written, all-inclusive purchase price we had received by email from David Poisson. He insulted his co-worker in the process, insisting that his coworker must have been confused as our "out the door price" did not include the documentation fees. He was willing to pass up a $20,000 sale over a $350.00 fee! After he conceded to the price we had received in writing, we still had to wait for the Finance person, Judson Curtis, while he took FOUR TRIES to get the right numbers on the purchase agreement! Considering that we had agreed on a price, in writing, BEFORE we came to the dealership, we had NO trade-in and did NOT need financing, we found the two and a half hour purchase process at Lee Toyota to be completely unacceptable. At this point, we are wishing we had walked away at the first sign that things were not quite as they advertised at this dealership. We would NEVER purchase another vehicle from Lee Toyota. Traded our 4 Runner 09 for a brand new 2014. Our sales person Jen was fun, it was until we got to finance and dealing with the finance & sales "manager" that things got bad. They tried to low ball us on our trade, we had a clean and exact conversation about what we wanted. They said ok, it wasn't until the paperwork was done that we found they had snuck in the low ball offer (not the agreed upon amount) on our trade, due to the mincing of words and dealership lingo. We felt so discouraged to have this happen (for the second time with the same dealership). No one made a point to show us anything or go over the paperwork in detail...that was how they tried to slide it by us. We didn't even find out until we looked into our own financing with a credit union (after being told not to use a credit union due to the exempt tax status.....). Needless to say we were completely disappoint, we love our new car but can guarantee we won't be shopping at Lee Toyota again for our next vehicle. read more

I bought a Toyota Tacoma from Lee Toyota a couple of years back. I love the vehicle it is reliable a built well. During our purchase we were informed that we could purchased an extended warranty (the platinum plan) and a plan for free oil changes and tire rotation for two years. I specifically asked the person (female of Hispanic decent) that if the warranty was 1: threw Toyota and two if the oil changes and service work could be done at any other dealership and she informed us yes (LIE!!!!). She also informed us that the warranty was for an ADDITIONAL 100,000 miles (LIE!!!!). Absolute FRAUD!!!!!. I ended up contacted Toyota about the oil change policy and received a partial refund. When we contacted Lee about the issue we got no way and a BS excuse well she's new. Any outfit that has anew person there should have a supervisor present to make sure that they aren't fucking people. I will NEVER BUY anything from LEE TOYOTA ever again. I hope this review saves some people the pain of going through the same nightmare that my wife and I have gone threw. If I could give them 0 stars I would. STAY AWAY!!!! read more

My wife and I visited Lee Toyota while on vacation, considering buying a RAV4. We were met by Patrick, who helped us sort out the differences between RAV4 models, organized a test drive of two models close to our specifications and provided a quick, written quote for the model we preferred. We compared that quote to those proved on edmunds, TrueCar and KBB, and found that it was extremely fair. It was easy to return to the dealership and agree to the quoted price. We live out of state, so the paperwork was not all routine. Regardless, Jon, the Business Manager, handled the whole process seamlessly, including a call to our home state DMV to make sure everything was done right. We found the staff at Lee Toyota to be professional, clear, fair and efficient while at the same time being genuinely welcoming and friendly. I came in with no notice and a charging system light, they diagnosed the issue as a bad alternator, and fixed it within a few hours (on a Saturday, when I had work on Monday morning =key). It took longer than expected, but they only charged for the quoted labor, and they even gave me a free loaner for the afternoon so I could go home. Last September, I bought a new 2016 RAV 4 from Lee Toyota. In the 10 months since, I've driven about 29,300 miles, all road miles. Today, I took it in for a 30,000 mile service and the annual inspection. Their determination: The tires they sold me with the vehicle failed inspection. My conclusion: New tires that don't last until the first inspection or 30,000 miles are inferior tires. I refused to buy new tires from them. Why should I trust a business that's already sold me one set of inferior tires? Even though it was quite inconvenient, I bought the tires elsewhere. I've purchased 3 new Toyotas from Lee in the last 6 years. I will think long and hard about returning for my next purchase. I'm a very dissatisfied customer. read more

WARNING they will find stuff wrong with your car. After a second opinion my brakes were fine and so are my new windshield wipers. There estimated cost was also way under what they were going to say the final price would be. They also marked my sticker that it failed because of the wipers ( WHICH ARE NEW AND WORK!!!)
