Great quality doors at a decent price. Only negative is the requirement to have 2 people on-site to unload the delivery. No option for the delivery driver to help. I get it for very large orders but a handful of doors and trim you should not have to have two people available to unload. read more

Definitely return to Darpet in the future. I recommend this place to all my contractor friends. I needed a steel fire door for a project and they had it in stock and for nearly half the price of the big box store and twice the options and quality. Worse quality, worse service at the most expensive price. WARNING ALL CUSTOMERS, stay as far way as possible!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's been 2 years and all the Darpet doors are junk. All the door frames cracked and continue to crack worse. The doors warped were they won't close flat and paint chips away like bad quality wood and primary. My contractor keeps coming every 6 months patching the doors with wood filler and re-painting, but then more issues happen in other spots. I bought the exact same style doors for my closest at the exact same time from Menards as I would not order from Darpet again and Darpet won't take back the doors the same day of delivery, so I was forced to keep they really bad quality doors. Menard's Doors are perfect in every way from 50% cheaper price during sales, quality is very high and they never gave me an issues with returns. Darpet needs to close, so people stop getting ripped off. Extremely disappointed in my mistake buying from them, when I had a bad feeling dealing with their scummy sales tactics. Really nice, until after you to pay, then late delivery, rude and won't deal with the customer again. They aren't looking for returning customers, just ripping people off one at a time. They mainly deal with contractors who don't care either about their customers based on the quality they buy from. Now I will have a spend a lot more to replace all the doors I bought from Darpet as the doors can never be fixed it seems. read more

WOW! 1 star is actually a compliment. Long story short, we ordered doors for a closet we just had built. We were promised they would be in on a Thursday, so we hired the contractors for an extra time to pick up the doors and install them. The contractors went to pick them up and were told they wouldn't be ready til Friday. Then they said they would deliver them Thurs afternoon. Then they said, oops, they aren't in stock. Sweet, so I'm out the money for the contractors and I got no doors. All we got was a sorry, it was an oversight. Wish I read the reviews before we dealt with them but s*&t happens. I'm positive you'll be able to find a more reliable door place. read more

I've purchased doors from Darpet on two occasions. The first time I bought 6 solid-slab doors to replace 6 of the 18 hollow-body doors in my home. I price shopped around for a while and settled on Darpet because they had the best prices. The checkout process was a breeze and they helped me figure out what size doors to get based on the measurements I had taken (first-time door buyer). The doors were delivered about a week later and looked fantastic. They look even better hung. Recently I went back to darpet and purchased 12 more doors to replace the rest of the hollow-body doors in my house. The second time around, I dealt with the same representative as the first time, Bryan. Bryan was helpful again in helping me determine the best size doors. Darpet is an enormous regional supplier but their office is nice and small and the representatives all seem very friendly. Like the first time, second time around we got delivery a week later and the doors all looked great. I recommend Darpet based on their prices, quality of doors, and great customer service. read more

We had a great experience with this company several years ago. However I just called up to talk about purchasing several doors and the sales person was unwilling to discuss. "Ma'am, I don't know the swing, or the thickness of the wall, or ...." Dude. You didn't ask me for any of that information. Why would you know it? I am surprised to see so many negative reviews about this place. I just left there and had a great experience. We had a house built in 2013 and our puppy chewed up quite a few door casings. I called yesterday talked to Mike. He told me to come by today and they would take care of me. I expected to get the cold shoulder because I was just some guy off the street ordering a few lengths of door casing. They were super nice, helpful and I was in and out so quick. Price was about half of what I was expecting to pay. I would definitely use these guys in the future for any projects. read more

I came to Darpet to buy white wooden trim for the majority of my house. My brother-in-law recommended this place, and I'm happy I came. Everything was reasonably priced and the customer service I received was great. Matt Platek helped me out, and he was really knowledgeable about everything that I needed help with. What the hell happened to Darpet??? Just a few years ago it supplied quality woodwork in a multitude of styles and was "the" place to go when refurbishing a historic Chicago-area home and needing matches for rare crown moldings, casings, shoes, etc. Now it's like an arm of HGTV, selling a limited number of cheap, trendy-looking baseboards, crowns, door and window surrounds, mostly in MDF (fake wood). Clientele we encountered on our visit were anything from home builders deceiving their customers by installing these substandard moldings to confused homeowners who were getting a "story" from aggressive salespeople. Those who want real architecture treatments in their homes are advised to steer clear. read more

Worst place to purchase anything. I was enticed by their prices, but at the end payed more than I would anywhere else. They reversed my door swings from what I have told them on 4 doors. I did not pay exact attention to the final estimate and was told it is my fault and I have to pay $450 extra to have it exchanged. It is not the worst thing that happened. Once I received the bi-fold doors, it was to be identical to my doors; but it look not even close. (Narrower edges etc). When I contacted them about; I was told that it is how it should be. I've recently started a renovation and needed to price some doors. I started my search and came across Darpet. Talk about a great experience! The staff was not only extremely helpful but also incredibly friendly! They made me feel comfortable. They educated me on my choices without being pushy! The prices were definitely reasonable & fair, and were well within my budget. There were so many options to choose from, but I left there feeling happy and confident with my choices. The worst place to buy doors @ Chicago!!!! I ordered 10 doors and baseboards from this place after somebody recommended me the place! I want to tell you that this is the worst place to buy doors ! To start it they told me to came and pick up the door after 1 week on a specific day! That day i called to make sure i will not drive from Chicago 1 hour in traffic for nothing and they told me that everything is ready! I rented a van because i couldn't fit everything in my car and headed to to place. Got there and they send me back in the warehouse to pick up my order! After waiting 1/2 hour the manager (this Polish guy what barely speak some English) came and he said .........can you please came in 3 days we will have the doors ready for you! Are you kidding me ??? I paid the van , i scheduled the carpenter and ......no doors. They forgot about my order!!! Nobody new what happened with the doors/ order . The manager is the worst manager i ever seen ! So unprofessional guy. It is a shame to waste people's time like this!!! read more

This company is to be avoided. Here's what happened so far. Late delivery, short shipped, over charged and wrong size windows and doors delivered. Very bad quality. Appalling customer service and these people are little power trippers. They refused to fix the problem. Here's the deal, you may think you won, playing your little games, think again. Ordered doors for basement finish. Darpet never placed the order with the manufacturer and didn't notify us until expected delivery date. 3 weeks wasted. They tried to make it right and re-order the doors. Then they didn't ship from the manufacturer and arrive on new expected date. Another 3 weeks help up on our basement. 6 weeks in total. BE CAREFUL AND HAVE A BACKUP PLAN IN PLACE. One star is too nice, but it is Christmas after all!!! read more

Find another source. They have horrible internal communication and when you do get a hold of someone in sales, they take 4-5 days to get back to you. You have to keep calling them every few days to check in and see if they made any progress on getting a quote to you, or placing an order. read more

I read these reviews and can sympathize. Darpet is like many other suppliers, not the most user friendly for consumers. That being said, for a GC, they are wonderful. I spent many years bouncing around from suppliers, when I found them that was it, I stuck with them. If anyone; as a consumer, is having a project done please hire a reputable GC do that they can source materials and not have issues. A good contractor will not gouge you on pricing and Darpet's prices are so reasonable that a GC mark-up will not break the bank. read more
