This an average Bengali eatery. I personally didn't like the food because of the poor quality and unbalanced taste.

I was craving for some pani puri (fuchka) and the yogurt drink (borhani) and very excited to try this place out. Bad decision. 1) Pani puri- the chick peas were barely boiled so they were pretty hard to chew. Since it was a takeout, they just gave us the shells, the uncooked chickpeas, and some chaat. Waste of money. Make your own, it's so much better. 2) Borhani- watered down. by far the worst borhani I've had and I've had a LOT. read more

Extremely fond of this small Indian/Bangladeshi place in Cambridge. I've eaten most things on their menu. They have by far the best Goat Biryani in and around the Boston Area. being Indian, I've had my fair share of Biryani's. Usually the goat meat is so well cooked it just falls off the bone. The best things to try there: 1.Goat Biryani (They get it right 9 out of 10 times) 2. DK chicken curry (Not on the menu, you have to request them to make it) 3. Chicken roast 4. Naan I found their kebabs average. The service is very friendly, especially the old man who runs the place. The only downside is that the place is not very fancy, but for their quality of food and reasonable prices, this is definitely worth overlooking. A nice neighborhood Bangladeshi/Indian restaurant. Bangladeshi national TV on one of the walls and from what I can tell local Bangladeshi's frequent. (a Bangladeshi grocery store is around the corner) Went for the buffet ($13/person) and enjoyed the fish, beef and vegetable curries. Not run of the mill south Asian food. All of their food is uselessly sweet. The service is poor - the glass containing a beverage we ordered (that was forgotten until half an hour later, when we reminded them) was not wiped down. The service staff is fine but very lax. I have been there twice and had the same experience. Would not recommend this place at all, to anyone. read more

I've been a customer of Darul Kabab for a year now. I'm in love with their chicken kabab (with bone) and lamb kabab, and since I'm a great fan of kabab I haven't tried anything else here. Their kabab is delicious, tender, mildly-spiced and reasonably-priced. My wife once tried their hamburger and really liked it. Why 4 stars: I've tried their rice alongside the kababs and can say it's not amazing. Neither is their salad, or their mango lassi. But still, their delicious kababs make up for the rest. And considering this, I don't know why they're not busy whenever I go there. Looking forward to the next kabab! read more

This is not a fancy restaurant but it serves tastily food. I have dined and ordered several times as I live a few blocks from the restaurant. I can say that because of this restaurant, I start to like the Indian food but with little spices. I want to mention here that the restaurant's name attracted me first, and I realized it's influenced by classic Arabic pronunciation which sounded somehow funny to me. Only go here if you've LOST YOUR MIND and want to waste as much as possible for incredibly sketchy food. I gave this place another shot a few months after the opening, hoping the kinks that everyone else is talking about got worked out. They actually got worse. I was surprised anyone was still coming in to this place. Nobody had any food, everyone looked angry, everyone was waiting. There is food waiting in the serving trays in front, and after a group of sit-down customers complained that their food was taking 40 minutes for lunch, I saw the "cooks" in the back order the check-out girl to scoop up a few brown blobs into some bowls (wait, are those trays not actually warming trays?? so the food is just sitting there?), and put them in the microwave. And then I saw them MICROWAVE three bowls of rice - like really??? An asian restaurant that doesn't even serve legitimately hot rice? Anyway, no idea why my friend's take-out order also took FIFTY minutes, but it was definitely less than luke-warm when it arrived. Like, wtf. The food is meh, I'd give it three stars if I had to isolate it, but combine it with the negative fifty stars for service, and one star is still wayy too generous. read more

I was very disappointed with the Boston desi food after moving from sf. This bengali place hands down is as authentic as it can get. It has promise. Having just opened, its clear that they are very inexperienced. The service is polite and attentive but awkward. The decor is a bit of a misfit as the glasses and tables say sit-down but the place looks more takeout. The food is moderately tasty although quite oily. I love this place! We have a party every summer for which we get kababs from Darul, and they have never let us down! I over-order just so I'll have leftovers for days! Everything is prepped and cooked fresh and tastes like it. This year we got the lamb seekh kababs and chicken chapli kababs, which were both authentic insanely good. If we lived closer, I would get takeout from here all the time. Sure, I had to wait for 45 minutes while they prepped my order that was supposed to be ready for pick-up, but hey, it wouldn't be an authentic South Asian-owned business without that! I made sure to ask for my order to be ready before I actually needed it. Plus the staff is super friendly and gave me free kababs and mango lassi to have while I waited :) read more

If you're familiar with Indian cuisine then you will know your way around this menu, which is actually Bangladeshi, meaning it is quite similar. The staff are very eager to please, although the atmosphere is rather spartan, to say the least, nevertheless it feels like you've left the US and ended up in a small Bengali town, which suited us just fine. The prices are modest, while the food is certainly good enough without trying to be fancy, just honest good food. We will come again. For value, it can't be beat. read more

The food tastes really well. The service could be much better. We ordered 4 fish platters, 2 hilsa curry and 2 goat curry to-go (Oct 6, 2019). Came home and found that the 2 goat curries are missing. Called them thrice (twice myself, once my husband) - they said they are unable to refund the amount for the goat curry without the credit card. If I go back any day, they will adjust the amount. I live in southern RI. Of course I may not go back in the next few months, and my worry is that the $33 (approx.) I am supposed to receive as a refund may escape their memory. I will keep my review and 2/5 score until I see that they actually resolved the balance when I go there the next time. If they do adjust the amount during my next visit, I will update my review. read more

The best desi food I have found in the Boston/Cambridge area. The chicken seekh kebabs are amazing!! I was so excited to see that the bhindi was crispy because most places don't make it like that. Everything I have had from here has been as good as it is in Pakistan. Eating there is also fun. They don't play music but have a bunch of televisions playing different things from Indian dramas to CNN to footage of Hajj. read more

I signed up for Yelp simply because I was annoyed by the ignorance shown in many of the reviews that came before mine. Firstly, this is a Bangladeshi restaurant that also serves some Indian food. It is not primarily an Indian restaurant, so to have the same expectations that you would have at Indian restaurants is wrong. Darul serves classic Bangladeshi dishes and does them very very well. The dahl is completely different from Indian dahl -- less oily and more liquidy, but delicious and done just right here. Fish is a staple of Bangladesh and they have terrific fish. And the curries and kebabs and vegetables are all wonderful -- but Bangladeshi, not Indian for the most part. Note that the sauces are similar to those you will find in Bangladesh, so the person complaining about the lack of Indian sauces is well off the mark. The buffet has to be the best around. There is a huge choice of top quality items, everything fresh, and many high-end dishes included. The chicken items were superb, along with the massive choice of beef, fish, and vegetarian. The waiters were delightful and very helpful -- and the atmosphere in the restaurant is really pleasant. In short, this place doesn't in any way deserve the complaints it has had, at least not based on my observations. If you want to have a fabulous Bangladeshi -- not Indian -- dining experience, this is the place to go. It is first rate! read more

As a lover of Indian food and especially Biryani, and who knows good, authentic Indian food, I was super excited to find this place. (I tried the Biryani for dinner and was back the next day for lunch~) I spent several months in India and regularly cook Indian food. I know how difficult it is to make (or find) a good Biryani. The meat needs to be moist, well done and tasty, the rice loose, and flavorful throughout. I have tried to make it multiple times without success, and order it almost anywhere it's on the menu. To my great delight, I have finally found a really good place. The rest of the food is good too. It is manly Bangladeshi and the fish dish I had was also amazing. It is rich. This is not, nor is it supposed to be, every day food. It's what you have on special occasions, and when you go out. I understand the décor/serving concerns. My husband and I had excellent service, but they are still working out the kinks. Still, the quality of the food is worth the wait and if you want to taste truly high-quality high quality Indian food for a low-cost, this is the place. (Ironically, they might have done better to open a posh high end restaurant and charged ridiculous rates where people expect to sit and wait for food, rather than a fast-food-ish restaurant.) read more

The food here and chef is actually Bangladeshi and on eid this place is packed with Bangladeshis. The food here is pretty good and as close to real homemade food you can get without going to Bangladesh or queens, nyc. Their paratha are amazing and beef bhuna is excellent. The buffet doesn't do the restaurant justice as they tend to put out what people expect from an Indian restaurant like their chicken tikka, which is bland. But overall if your looking for something different then chicken curry (which is very good here) and break away from What you consider Indian food this is a great place to try. read more

I had been excited to try this place, since I roll past it every day on the bus, but it was kind of disappointing. The place is shiny and new and clean, and the folks who took my order were pleasant and told me that the dish was mild and asked how spicy I wanted it (important!). I got my food pretty quickly, within 5-10 minutes, and took it home. They threw in free rice (I think normally it's a few bucks extra?) which was nice. But the dish was just okay. The sauce was super oily and not particularly flavorful. It was also pretty evident that most of the "9 selected vegetables" came from a bag of frozen veggies (you know, the ones that come with peas, carrots, corn, lima beans, string beans?). There was cauliflower and potatoes, too, but really? I can make korma with frozen veggies myself. Also, there was supposed to be cheese in my dish and there wasn't any. Maybe I was accidentally served the Mixed Vegetable Korma instead of the Navrattan Korma, but it was still only okay. And kind of overpriced at $10! (And the Mixed Vegetable Korma is only 5.99, so I hope that's not what I got instead.) read more

I have only had one thing from here (many times) for take-out. The goat curry is consistently good and makes for two meals. It comes with rice. It's better than Punjabi Dhaba's version. Went to this restaurant for the first time, actually i was there for the next door restaurant THIRD EYE but they closed, so i thought lets try this restaurant. They was serving buffet, i kinda liked it. I personally manage indian restaurant and been to so many restaurant. They dont have oily food, which is healthy. This place is cheaper than other area Indian style restaurants, and I think it shows. It looks like they are inconsistent - some people really like them but others find the food to not be very special. I have had both good food and meh food here. My recent order was meh. And they really need to figure out how to fry samosas without the entire dumpling soaking up tons of oil. I haven't tried the kabobs or most of the meat dishes. read more

I have been ordering take out from Darul Kabab for the past few months and had a very positive experience. I was pleasantly surprised by the authentic Bengali food on their menu. I have been on a quest to find the restaurant that serves better Haleem and Biryani than "Kabab and Tandoor (Waltham)". Bottomline; This isnt the "one". I found this place searching for Haleem but wanted to try a bunch of other things as well. I ordered the following: 1. Haleem: Simply aweful. They mixed Dal with a bit of spices and ground up meat. 2. Moglai Paratha: This felt more like a ruglach with meat. Looks like they made a huge batch a month ago and just reheated my portion. Felt stale. 3. Nehari: The spices in Nehari were quite of-balance. I could not eat even one spoon. 4. Kachi Biryani (Goat): The meat was tough and felt very dodgy. Not sure what part of Goat they used. The biryani was fairyl average. 5. Chicken Tikka Masala: Extremely oily. The taste was actually quite good but the oil just turned me off. read more

Best kebabs (Indian style) in Cambridge, PERIOD....! Kebab fans try the chicken tikka, malai and lab seekh kebabs. They will blow your mind. Everything we had was delicious, samosas, dal, tandoori chicken, malai kofta, aloo palak and naan. They do have a few issues to work out - It was quite crowded and the set up of chairs was too tight to move comfortably. And this was a Sunday night at about 7. Also the servers seemed a bit confused (but very nice), we were asked if we had ordered, quite some time after we had, and then they apologized and said they had lost our order, but it turns out the food was on it's way out. (there was another server right behind her with it) We were happy to put up with the minor inconvenience for the food. I will be going back soon! read more

This is a good place for kids and families. It is not classy, they still have random banjos on the wall from the time this used to be a beef restaurant called Banjos...they have a giant lit up menu up front and food warming in trays under it. However, if you go and sit down (not take out) it is much better. Order off the menu and they will make the curries hot for you. Tolerated our 3 y.o. and service in general was good. Food could be spicier and tastier, kebabs are a little dry. But the flavors are authentic. Their desserts are not that great, though. read more

I just moved to Porter Square and was trying the variety of cuisines on Mass Ave when I came across Darul Kabab. It is a Pakistani/ Bangladeshi cuisine and you must try the moghlai parathas and the malai kabab.. it will melt in your mouth!! Also the waitress was very kind and gave us complimentary jalebis. The only problem is there are 5 screens of TV and each keep showing some Pakistani/Indian TV serial, which is annoying. I hope they change those and just play a soft instrumental music instead. But surely a must try for Indian/Pakistani food lovers :) read more

I was VERY excited about having a place very close by to grab someIndian food. The SERVICE, unfortunately, (as several have pointed out) is glacially slow. I ordered two entrees and a couple samosas to-go, which from walking in the door and back out the door took almost 30 minutes. That's entirely too long - especially when they have what appear to be most of the entree dishes out on the food bar already. To their benefit, I was offered a complementary cup of tea while I waited and I love the fact that there is ample parking (for the area) right behind the restaurant. The food itself? It was okay - although it was most certainly dripping with oil, similar to other comments. Sum total: I wouldn't run back there right now. The food here was extremely flavorful and well seasoned. Additionally, prices are cheap and the portions generous. Compared to places like the more popular Punjabi Dhaba, this place is a MUCH better value with a lot more punch. We had the lamb kebab, aloo chop, and chicken biriyani. All very excellent, especially the first two. Service was very accomodating - we walked in 10 minutes to close and they happily allowed us to dine in. The take-out portions include extra raita and they have a free parking lot for added convenience. If you enjoy, Indian, this is definitely worth a stop! P.S.
