Not for the faint of heart - Huge portions that will bring a smile to any foodies face. Excellent cordial service very casual place with benches and very clean with German decor. We came for a late lunch for my husband's birthday and the place was empty. Everything we had was on point. Perfect beer garden atmosphere. I really liked the warm potato salad! I got the cheesy Spaetzle it was very heavy and loaded with cheese - good for people that like that -

    Schnitzel, warm potato salad, lingonberries.

What a fantastic place! The food was outstanding! Delicious homemade spaetzle, crisp flavorful schnitzel, fall-off-the-bone pork shank, sweet red cabbage, fresh cucumber salad, mouthwatering warm potato salad, everything was amazing, including the staff! Thank you Melissa for a wonderful meal and exemplary service! The house beer was quite good too! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Can't wait to go back to this unpretentious and super authentic German Biergarten![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Home of das boot! I didn't actually get it but wished someone did. Loved the energy of the staff and all the decor. Seating inside and outside. This place is great for families or just a night out with friends. The customers at the bar were having a great time with the jukebox. Don't know if it's actually called that anymore. Machine that plays music is best way to describe it. The food was amazing. This was only my second time at a German restaurant. First time I made the mistake of getting a giant array of sausage. I was smart enough this time to not eat too heavy. I went with das schnitzel sandwich. I was recently introduced to fried pork cutlets. On a pretzel bread seems like a no-brainer. I turned out to be right. Fried perfectly, tons of flavor. Their french fries for a nice bonus. Very crispy and delicious. I was also able to sample some of my wife's plate of jagerschnitzel. It was basically what I got, but with a delicious mushroom gravy sauce. It also came with a side of spatzle. Great experience. Can't wait to go visit the in-laws and come back here. Five stars!

Great place and comfortable atmosphere. Nice daytime bartender as we were just passing through. Had 2 paulerner dunkel and a Pretzel.

If you aren't eating at Das Biergarten, you are truly doing yourself a disservice. Besides the amazing, personable staff, everything on the menu is 10/10. But the lobster roll in the summer is the STAR of the show. You wouldn't think of a German restaurant to have a lobster roll like this but DAMN, they sure do. The owner, Drew, is a true king and makes the meanest lobster salad in LB. Not full of mayo, nice BIG chunks of lobster. Oh, and do NOT sleep on his grilled cheese.

What a great time!!!!! Came last night with a large party and had a great experience! The bartender, waitress, food - 5 stars!!!! The burger I had, probably one of the best burgers I've ever had!!!! I woke up dreaming of it this morning, seriously! What a friendly staff and top notch service! I started off with potato pancakes which were delicious! Das burger? Like I said earlier, still dreaming of it!!! They have a private parking lot which is fantastic for the area since many places don't have one. Definitely Check this place out!!! You won't be disappointed!!!!

Fantastic find close to my parents in Atlantic Beach. Das Biergarten has a fun, laid back atmosphere with impressive beer/cocktail and food menus. I ordered the Jägerschnitzel: giant pork cutlet fried to perfection, topped with a rich bacon mushroom gravy. It was accompanied by sides of spätzle and apple red cabbage. Every bite was delicious! Highly recommend. If you are a fan of classic German food and drinks, you must go to Das Biergarten!

Fantastic afternoon at Das Biergarten today. Since Lots of Octoberfest celebrations are cancelled this year we took the chance to meet up with some friend for some pre Octoberfest celebration at Long Beach. Table where spaced well apart, server had mask all the times. Menu where laminated. Food and Beer where great and is certainly worth a trip to Long Beach if you look for some good Beer, Food and "Gemütlichkeit"... highly recommend to everyone who like Germany Cuisine in a safe environment...

Great german food with pretty good prices. If you like MEAT, get the Pigs knuckle. Its a huge bone of pork with fall of the bone tender meat. Service can be slow for food but the bar service is great and they are happy to let you try any of the beers before you buy

I had a group dinner here for my parents and my boyfriend's mother to meet for the first time. This is perhaps not the perfect location for this type of thing, as it was extremely loud in the restaurant. Despite being very busy, the hostess made sure we had a comfortable table to sit at and were not too cramped. As expected, the beer selection is great and I enjoyed my Berliner Weisse very much. I ordered the goulash and kasespaetzle. The goulash was rich, well seasoned and filling. The spaetzle was soft and creamy, covered in lots of flavorful aged cheese with salty bacon bits and sweet onion. A very rich dish. Although I didn't technically order an entree, I still found myself pleasantly full at the end of the meal. The rest of my dining companions ordered either the schnitzel or the wurstplatte. All seemed very pleased with their food, and some even had leftovers to bring home due to large portions. This restaurant is certainly a fun spot to come, reservations recommended. There's a reason they've been open for so long.

Anyway, we're glad we got in here for an early bird dinner with our three kiddos (and no wait either!) Service and ambiance was cozy and friendly, and they were nicely decorated for Christmas too. Even though we only went once, thank you for being a staple in our community for 40+ years!

Food and service did not disappoint and the restaurant was well-decorated for Christmas too :) Yes, meals are a bit on the pricier side but portions are generous and (as someone who LOVES German food), I have to say the jagerschnitzel and sauerbraten were spot on! We started off with the obligatory Bavarian pretzel, which is cooked to order and easy to share around for a family of four. We also ordered a bowl of their onion soup which had a surprisingly flavorful broth and was delicious down to the very last scoop. It was a nice departure from some variants where once you pierce through the top cheese layer, you're eating boring beef broth. I wish the family well (believe they're retiring and trying to sell the business) and maybe keep my fingers crossed new owners will keep up the German cuisine!

This place is the things you'd want in an outdoor Beer garden - casual eats in the Brat Haus and beers on tap. Not to mention the in-house private event space that does have air conditioning. Perfect for parties of 20-700! Says it on the website and I wouldn't have believed it until I saw it myself. This review is for The Hive restaurant specifically since that's where I had my meal. A beautiful bar with a Stein wall with lockers for patrons who wish to store them - you see that just past the host station. The indoor dining room just beyond. We started with the Wurst Sampler Platter. Think bratwurst, knackwurst, krainerwurst, and jalapeno cheddar bratwurst. I had no idea there were so many varieties and it was paired with the best potato salad I've ever had. Authentic and delicious sauerkraut to match. Also ordered the House-Cured Slab bacon, paired with a blackberry gastrique. Excellent choices I must say. For dinner, we just had to try the Schnitzel. Admittingly, it was hard to decide (all were veal options and there was one chicken option)! I chose the Champignon Rahmschnitzel and hubby got the Jager Schnitzel. Both were topped with sauce and mushrooms - but entirely different. The Rahmschitzel was breaded veal and had a white creamy mushroom sauce. So delicious! And the Jager one was pan-seared veal with a demi-glace sauce. Outstanding as expected...I was literally drooling at every plate that passed me by. Topped my meal with some hard cider and I was golden. Stuffed and happy! Plattduetsche Park is so rich in history and they have established roots in the community going back 100+ years (established in 1901). What a fantastic place to be - come for the great cuisine and the culture. No special occasion needed. (Reservations suggested for The Hive restaurant - opens daily starting at 3PM). BTW, the Ompahfest (festival) is on Sept. 20th, 2026. Zum Wohl!

We were shoulder to shoulder to each other. I had to straddle a table leg because of the way the table was set up. I could not get my chair under the table. There was barely any room for our plates and glasses. Even though it was a Mother's Day event, there was not a kids' menu- which makes no sense bc you know kids will be at this event! Two of our dishes had to be sent back because they were cold. It's nice that they hire the local kids and the service was good. Overall, just a bad experience. I do not think we will come back for a special holiday again.

All schnitzel is served with spätzle, seasonal vegetables, and red cabbage. This was the definition of a comfort meal that. We started with their Bavarian Cheese Board, and classic German appetizers - potatoes pancakes paired with this insane apple butter, and potato dumplings with your choice of gravy. It's located right next door to a German butcher, which adds to the old-world feel before you even walk in. We've only visited the small outdoor seating area along 2nd Avenue, and it's become one of our favorite places to relax, enjoy a drink, and watch the neighborhood go by. The patio is fairly small, so tables fill up quickly. If you're bringing your pup, I'd recommend a carrier or having them on all fours. There just isn't enough room for a stroller without making the space feel cramped. The star of the menu (at least for us) is the giant soft pretzel. It's perfectly warm, chewy, and served with Dijon mustard--simple but absolutely delicious. If you're ordering beer, be prepared...the pints are enormous! Mom isn't much of a beer drinker, so she ordered the rosé cider instead and loved it. The atmosphere is relaxed, the service is friendly, and it's an ideal stop if you're looking to unwind rather than rush through a meal. Dogba's Verdict If your humans enjoy a good German beer, a giant pretzel, and a little people watching, Heidelberg is definitely worth a stop.
