So happy to have a little German place like this locally. Been in Bellmore for about 3 years now and have run past Oak Chalet a few times. Finally visited last night and was blown away by the atmosphere, service, food and everything in between. We had a reservation, and would highly recommend as the place is busy. The ambiance reminds me of my grandparents house. We had some potato pancakes, spaetzel and the pretzel for apps, which were all incredible. Might have been the best soft pretzel I've ever had. For dinner, I ordered the Jaegerschnitzel and was so impressed by both taste and presentation. Wife ordered the breaded chicken cutlet and loved it. Only wish the parking lot was a bit bigger, but absolutely a testament to it's popularity.

I didn't realize how close this restaurant was to my house. This is wonderful restaurant for German food. I had the Wienerschnitzel when I was in Austria I was curious how it would compare this restaurants Wienerschnitzel I was pleasantly surprised it was very similar very tender not deep fried like I had in other German American restaurants. It came with 2 potato pancakes with delicious apple sauce and a side of vegetables. The atmosphere was very cozy and our server was very attentive .

I was in the mood for German food because of all the Oktoberfest ads I have been seeing EVERYWHERE, and since I'm now a long islander via queens, I had to find a new German spot closer to home. The oak chalet in bellmore is in a residential area and has super cute curb appeal with a good amount of parking. When you walk inside you feel like you are in a german bar, and the staff is very accommodating and nice. I had a hofbrau beer and my hubby did the mixed beer (light and dark). We skipped apps because we knew the entrees would be huge. For dinner I got the goulash with spaetzle which was a generous portion. I enjoyed the meal, but be forewarned- it's a lot of meat. My hubby got the jagerschnitzel which was fantastic and came with a side of red cabbage (amazing) and potato pancakes. The potato pancakes also came with a side of applesauce that was awesome. For dessert we had the Black Forest cake with ice cream. Overall a really nice place and had a great meal.

Amazing German food and great service! The outdoor seating is great! It's under a tent with nice lighting, decorations and music. And even though you are seated outside the service is nothing less than exceptional. our water was constantly being refilled and the food was brought out quickly. I ordered the goulash with spaetzle. The spaetzle comes out plain but when it's mixed with the sauce from the goulash it's super good. Overall it was a great experience with authentic German food. I also really appreciate that it's a locally owned business. Perfect place for a date night or some time out with your family.

Finally, I made it to the Oak Chalet. It was delicious. Had the chicken jaegerschnitzel with potato pancakes and spaetzel. Everything was delicious. Finished off with a piece of apple strudel. The strudel was probably the best I ever had.

This place is the things you'd want in an outdoor Beer garden - casual eats in the Brat Haus and beers on tap. Not to mention the in-house private event space that does have air conditioning. Perfect for parties of 20-700! Says it on the website and I wouldn't have believed it until I saw it myself. This review is for The Hive restaurant specifically since that's where I had my meal. A beautiful bar with a Stein wall with lockers for patrons who wish to store them - you see that just past the host station. The indoor dining room just beyond. We started with the Wurst Sampler Platter. Think bratwurst, knackwurst, krainerwurst, and jalapeno cheddar bratwurst. I had no idea there were so many varieties and it was paired with the best potato salad I've ever had. Authentic and delicious sauerkraut to match. Also ordered the House-Cured Slab bacon, paired with a blackberry gastrique. Excellent choices I must say. For dinner, we just had to try the Schnitzel. Admittingly, it was hard to decide (all were veal options and there was one chicken option)! I chose the Champignon Rahmschnitzel and hubby got the Jager Schnitzel. Both were topped with sauce and mushrooms - but entirely different. The Rahmschitzel was breaded veal and had a white creamy mushroom sauce. So delicious! And the Jager one was pan-seared veal with a demi-glace sauce. Outstanding as expected...I was literally drooling at every plate that passed me by. Topped my meal with some hard cider and I was golden. Stuffed and happy! Plattduetsche Park is so rich in history and they have established roots in the community going back 100+ years (established in 1901). What a fantastic place to be - come for the great cuisine and the culture. No special occasion needed. (Reservations suggested for The Hive restaurant - opens daily starting at 3PM). BTW, the Ompahfest (festival) is on Sept. 20th, 2026. Zum Wohl!

Mother's Day in the Beer Hall-…read more We were seated at a long and narrow table (not the ones that are usually in the beer hall) next to the service door. We were shoulder to shoulder to each other. I had to straddle a table leg because of the way the table was set up. I could not get my chair under the table. There was barely any room for our plates and glasses. Even though it was a Mother's Day event, there was not a kids' menu- which makes no sense bc you know kids will be at this event! Two of our dishes had to be sent back because they were cold. It's nice that they hire the local kids and the service was good. Overall, just a bad experience. I do not think we will come back for a special holiday again.

We started off with appetizers- which are really great for sharing- perogies for the Hubby and I had the liver dumpling soup- both were fantastic. Hubby had the German mixed salad with his meal, the special was sausage with both chicken and pork Schnitzel and potatoes, I had the sauerbraten with potatoes and we both had a side of the sauerkraut. We took a To-Go of the stuffed chicken breast with mozzarella and spinach and soup, with broccoli and an order of perogies. 2 Root beers, and he had the apple strudel and I ordered the Bienenstich. Our server was Karen- I want to give a huge thank you to her, she was an absolute delight, sweet, friendly and made sure our dinner was perfect, she is wonderful and next time we come for dinner, we hope she is our waitress. Food was incredible, I have not had "family" style German food in probably 13 years if not longer- I used to eat all the time at Alpine Village in Torrance Ca and at Phoenix Club in Brea Ca- both I was a long time foodie at, and never had a bad meal! It is so great to know that Sebastian's is our new place for delicious German food. Dinner for the 3 was roughly $180.00, but before you say "that's a lot", the food is delicious, the wait staff is amazing and both my husband and I gladly pay good money for fantastic food, like what we had here at Sebastian's.

Traditionally served with pork or veal, but they do have chicken or eggplant as well! I went with the classic Weinershnitzel which is traditionally served with veal schnitzel and served with brown gravy. Lindsey got the Chicken Rahmschnitzel which is schnitzel topped with a creamy white reisling-infused mushroom gravy. Both were filled with flavor and we were very impressed! All schnitzel is served with spätzle, seasonal vegetables, and red cabbage. This was the definition of a comfort meal that. We started with their Bavarian Cheese Board, and classic German appetizers - potatoes pancakes paired with this insane apple butter, and potato dumplings with your choice of gravy. I like to smoke my cigar with a single malt, it wasn't part of the package so bourbon it is! The smokers started coming in, lots of guy back slaps and hand shakes. I would say there was about 100 people total at the event, the patio was large enough to hold that many patrons. After we all smoked a damn good cigar, the restaurant brought out the food. Typical Long Island catered food: baked ziti, chicken, meatballs, etc.. Both the inside & outside bar was well stocked with beer. I had a group dinner here for my parents and my boyfriend's mother to meet for the first time. This is perhaps not the perfect location for this type of thing, as it was extremely loud in the restaurant. I ordered the goulash and kasespaetzle. The goulash was rich, well seasoned and filling. The spaetzle was soft and creamy, covered in lots of flavorful aged cheese with salty bacon bits and sweet onion. A very rich dish. Although I didn't technically order an entree, I still found myself pleasantly full at the end of the meal. The rest of my dining companions ordered either the schnitzel or the wurstplatte.
