Love this place! [[HIGHLIGHT]]I enjoy having the option to sit indoors or on the patio.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The gyro plates and bowls are delicious, and the rice pudding is my absolute favorite! They also have a great variety of food options for picky eaters, and my kid loved their chocolate cake slice. The board games are such a fun touch, and the beer is the cherry on top. Great spot for the whole family!

I've been here twice now and love it. Great vibe, location, and food. The staff is friendly. The jager schnitzel is out of this world. I don't drink beer but I can see the beer mugs are ginormous!!!

I really liked that this place offers both German and Mediterranean dishes -- such a unique combination! We ordered takeout, and the staff was friendly. Jäeger Schnitzel Plate (Veal): The crispy meat and rich sauce went perfectly together! I loved that the schnitzel was generously covered in sauce because it was so flavorful. On the other hand, the mac and cheese had a simple taste and was a bit dry. They also have cakes, so it's a nice spot whether you just want coffee or a full meal.

Solid German food. Schnitzel was perfectly cooked and the eggplant was tasty and fried well, though the salt was a bit inconsistent. It was paired with a delicious mushroom sauce. [[HIGHLIGHT]]This is a good spot to grab a beer and chill.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I've tried food here a couple times. Most recently I ordered the spicy chicken schnitzel. It was crispy and reminded me of katsu. The portion was huge but I found chicken quite plain even with the spicy sauce. The lingonberry gave it a boost with some contrasting sweetness. I thought the spatzel was pretty nice. The menu is huge. I would give the gyro or doner a try whenever my next visit might be.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]The beer garden has picnic style benches with umbrellas which makes it nice and casual to eat outside with friends and family.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]There may be the occasional noise from the Caltrain as it is located very close to the station, but it doesn't take away from the experience in my opinion.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Ordering drinks and snacks is very convenient as you order through your phone, and the wait staff comes out with your order. The waiter we had was an older man who was very friendly and made a few jokes as small talk as he handed off our food and drinks (turkish tea, pretzel, draft beer/cider). For entrees, you must order inside and you are greeted with a large menu of turkish/german cuisines. While I would come again for the draft beers and beer garden vibe alone, I had to try the pretzel. It appeared to be a pretty authentic bavarian soft pretzel from looks alone, and the texture was soft with a bit of a solid crust. It was not overly salted, and the best part is the pairing with the sweet mustard, which is a bit hard to find in the area. One of the best quality pretzels around.

Large outdoor space on the corner of the street to put down a few liters. I went with the Schnitzel, Pretzel and Lamb Souvlaki. On a nice day, sitting outside on the benched tables underneath umbrellas is wonderful. Happy Hour beer is also a bonus.

The food was great! Super rich and filling, and the strawberries were very fresh! The cashier was super sweet and attentive and the place is great with some indoor seating options but also a plethora of outdoor options! The place works similar to like a Panera where you order at the front and then you get a number and then they bring your food to you! We thoroughly enjoyed the meal and the weather was nice so we got to sit out in the sun! Overall a very positive experience! Last time I came here I got a tuna melt and it was perfect! I'm a big fan of tuna melts from diners so this place gives me diner vibes but also bar vibes since they have beer! Will definitely return :) read more

The service was fine and the staff was friendly, and informative. Also, the food was edible and fortunately I did not feel or get sick afterwards. I ordered a Amber beer, a cheeseburger, fries, and the black forest chocolate cake. Why am I leaving 1 star? In short, the price for value was way off... Normally when I pay as much as I did to eat out ($40+) I expect the food to be made with fresh ingredients and cooked there. However I'm not convinced anything was actually made or prepared there. Instead it seemed like everything was frozen and microwaved, and or pre-packaged and opened before serving. I find this to be appalling and gross. Additionally for frozen food, it was all very bland, dull, and the fries weren't even salted. I will not come here again. Lastly, the Amber beer was terrible. read more

I came here to check out some beers Man this place is already so crowded at night and weekends. People know what's up. They don't really need yelp to be honest. There are in downtown! Anyways.. The sauce with curry ketchup tasted like really Germany. The beer was pretty good. They didn't pour beer all the way but foams meant to be there for some of those I liked that. The outdoor indeed pretty. The train sounds couldnbother you sometimes but that is okay. Group of 4 stopped by around 8pm on a Tuesday night. Plenty of well lit bench tables outside. Most of the nearby outdoor seating restaurants were super dark. We walked to the bar to order food/drinks then it gets delivered to your table. I did see a QR code on the table so not sure if you can order via QR code too. The bartender was really friendly and offered us samples. They have a large menu with lots of light beer options. My friends who ordered the stout really liked it. The beers were served to us in glasses which is a big plus for me. The tables were well spaced out too. Cute spot to drink with friends or go on a date. Even for a family dinner. 5 stars! I love everything about this place, from the outdoor seating to the beer selection to the customer service. The only thing I don't love is waiting for the single stall bathroom, but that's minor! I've visited a fair number of times (alone and with others) and the customer service is always quick and efficient, as well as friendly. The bratwurst and schnitzel are delicious, but, honestly, my most frequented item is the beer. Hands down my favorite place to grab a brew in Mountain View. Don't be shy and pop by! read more

Ordered the lamb Currywurst and a Bock beer. The lamb wurst was pretty good, but I didn't care for the coating sauce much. I shouldn't be surprised since it's apparently a mixture of ketchup and curry powder and tasted like it. Very one-note and sweet (at least for my palette). The sauerkraut was decent-tangy and reasonably fresh, but nothing to write home about. The french roll was enriched bread, soft and a bit fluffy, but not much different than what you would find at an average American diner. The fries were again, diner-style, and to my chagrin completely unseasoned. This is the second time I have encountered this at a Mountain View restaurant and, to me, comes off as amateurish. Fries need to be seasoned right out of the deep fryer or the salt won't stick once the fries cool. Upon realizing the fries were unsalted, I seasoned the fries myself and tried to toss them, but as expected the top fries were bland and the bottom was full of salt. Failing to do the most basic things like seasoning fries makes me question if the cooks know what they're doing. The ambience of this place is great. It's on Castro street, but it's on its own corner away from the street setting and well arranged. Overall: Food: 1.5/5. Beer: 4/5 Ambience: 4.5/5. I may have ordered things that were not the restaurant's strong suit. I'd be willing to give it another shot. read more

Came here with my partner on a Friday for dinner. There was a lot of customers around 8pm and food is ordered in the restaurant while beer and desserts can be ordered through QR code. We got the veal Bratwurst and doner kebab plate. They were both pretty tasty and had big portion size; however, it took at least 30min for them to be served, and I felt the wait was too long. read more

I went when it had medium reviews, and it exceeded the expectations. All the food we had was tasty, the staff was nice and helpful. The only reason for cutting a star was that they have some strange transition between lunch and some in-between menu for which we had to wait a bit. Good selection of beers too. read more

I literally waited an hour to get my food. When I asked one of the servers to check the order for me he said yes and never came back to tell me what was going on with my order. When I asked someone else he took his sweet time doing something else before he checked on my food. I really thought I patiently waited because I understand that it is tough to run a restaurant in this difficult time but after waiting an one hour patiently not even hearing sorry or not showing any kind of empathy for my 5 year old who was so hungry that he was losing it got me to write this review. Something clearly went wrong with my order because I have seen people who arrived later than me getting the same item I ordered. Again in this difficult time I am okay with hiccups here and there but I do think that they need to show that they are trying to solve a customer's problem when something has gone clearly wrong. read more

I had the bratwurst with fries here. The French fries were tasty! The bratwurst was delicious and smoky. They share a place with another restaurant here btw. There is plenty of outdoor seating! Solid primarily German beer selection. The true beer garden experience requires a little magical thinking (the establishment is still branded Olympus and serves dolmas and feta fries). Solid Happy Hour (drink deals only). Fries are "meh" but pretzels are house made (have not tried) and look worthy. Still ISO a "next level" beer garden experience in the Peninsula. Until I wake up in that dream, happy hour here will tide me over. read more

God. Over 30 dollars for a brautwurst, pretzel and beer? Not sure whats going on or if they are struggling but the brautwurst was incredibly small. Almost smaller than a ballpark frank from the grocery store. I actually had to open the bun to make sure it was there (not joking) and the price I was charged for that meal was ridiculous! Btw you have rude staff. The server with the receding hairline is rude as hell. Flying back and forth through the dining areas within inches of my face constantly. read more

The holidays have got me wanting some warm string-lit outdoor spacing and beer. What better place than a German beer garden with Das Bierhauz? This is a combined place with a Turkish cafe called Olympus. Located across from the Mountain View Castro Caltrain station, it's a nice (albeit noisy due to the frequent trains) go-to restaurant for the casual diner with outdoor seating. Wish there were some more heaters, but still nice to have. The food/snacks for a group of 4: - Wurst platter ~$22: 3 small-ish, dry bratwurst. Unfortunately not my favorite. Sauerkraut was decent. The rollbread was unfortunately use a burger bun... Would skip. Added a $1.50 for a small plate of fries which were crispy and good. - Veal weiner schnitzel ~$20: large-ish plate of fried veal - decent and best with the sweet dip. The spaetzl (aka egg noodles) was all right though a little bland. May try this or the chicken schnitzel. - Pretzels ~$6: medium sized but better priced than the other items. Soft inside and good mustard side. - Beer: got a good selection including Hefeweizen (my pick) For a chilly night the heaters weren't enough, but wear more jackets and you'll be fine. Order inside and they'll bring the food out to you. Oh and there's only one bathroom so use the toilet before coming during peak times. read more

Stopped here on a Sunday night on a whim. Counter service was friendly. They do .5 and full liter beers with a great selection which was nice. The doner plate was good, thought it odd it came with fries (which were fried nicely) and white rice (plain white rice) which I ended up pouring hot sauce on to kick up (which seemed odd). The doner itself was good. Plenty of outdoor seating with umbrella makes it a nice spot to hang out, have a beer and catch up with friends. Will go back again. read more

Love this place! Plenty of outdoor seating, nice staff, great happy hour prices, delicious coffee, delicious food, and great cakes. Their chicken schnitzel is my favorite as well as the pistachio ricotta cake. I also appreciate that they have outdoor heating lamps for colder weather. The tray crashed onto our table and spilled water, hot coffee, and creamer all over me, and our under two year old who started crying. I rushed over to check for burns from the coffee, but luckily it was okay. After the clean-up I was waiting to see if anyone might come by to ask if anything was needed, let me know if I could get more food since I wasn't entirely finished, or at least apologize and comp our meal. Unfortunately I didn't get any replacement food, and they brought the bill and mentioned that we didn't have to pay for coffee...$68 pre-tip was a little upsetting after our experience, even though I know accidents can happen... Of course, later on I smelled spoilt because of the creamer/milk that was still on my clothes after walking around the Farmer's Market...lovely...

Great beer and fair prices for food. Amazing fries. There were nice heat lamps and a lot of nice lights on the trees so the ambiance was great for a chill friend hangout. Wurst platter, three different sausages with sour kraut, grilled onions and two kind of mustard (1 sweet, the other hot). Also order pretzel with sweet mustard and Olympus mint tea. Love the sausages and the mint tea are my favorites. read more
