Perhaps this is very highly rated due to location? But the food was disappointing. My cheese plate had toasted white bread and some sliced provolone that tasted like it came right from Safeway. The pretzel was ok but again tasted like heated up store bought pretzel and the cheese also tasted like it was out of the jar. The "kid's meal" prices were ridiculous . $13 for a hot dog and $14 for a burger ? I asked if they could give me a hot dog plate and charge me extra just for another hot dog (no fries) and the answer was no. I don't know how this place is highly rated and Stein's just down the block has worse ratings when it has great food, beer and ambiance. Yeah the outdoor patio here is nice but I took out of town guests here based on Yelp and was quite disappointed and embarrassed to be honest ! read more

Overall a nice place to stop for lunch. I enjoy the outside seating area, which is very pleasant when the weather is nice. The order process of making your order inside and bringing your order to the table is efficient and works well. No waiting for a check when you're done. Food is good, I enjoyed the all beef bratwurst. The big plus is they have a great beer selection on tap. Again, for me enjoying a great beer outside on a nice day is always extra special. Also dog friendly for outside dinning another big plus. read more

Lol not really an authentic German place but good enough. It shares half a place with the Greek place. We ordered a large beer, schnitzel burger, and bratwurst. Both came with side of sauerkraut, French fries, ketchup. The schnitzel burger was okay, a little bland. The beef bratwurst was tiny and dry! Costco has a better hot dog by a long shot. It tasted more like a tiny dry hot dog than a German bratwurst. I've had this at other biergartens and I believe they are pork and typically more juicy. I really enjoyed the beers here and in general the outdoor set up and atmosphere. We went on a Saturday late afternoon and it was so lovely to see people out drinking sunny day beers and having food together but apart. They were also playing fun throwback rock music. Being there made me feel like I was back in 2019 again lol. The good old days! Next time I would come for a burger and a large beer and just good atmospheric times. read more

I came her for the first time over the summer. This place is very popular in the evenings. We came during early afternoon on the weekend. The only seating is outdoor, and the food is ordered inside. They have their liter and half a liter beer boots. Bring and appetite be ready to try some German beers you can't pronounce the names to. Food options are very tasty and generous. Tip: Don't order a liter of beer you've never tried before. read more

This is a fun festive outdoor patio, where you can stop and select from a wide variety of beers! It also has some pretty passable German food, including schnitzel and curry wurst. Prices are reasonable, and the environment is pleasant. I was initially confused, because, when you look up the place on Google maps, you will find that it is a Greek restaurant. The German beer garden, is actually outside. But, you'll have to pop into the Greek restaurant to order your schnitzel. There's also a great variety of Greek and Mediterranean options available. When the weather is nice, this is a great option. The dining room is pretty small, so I personally wouldn't go if the weather is bad. Also, you can order drinks with a QR code from your outdoor table, but you can't order food this way. My personal recommendation to the owners would be to expand food service to the QR option. It would be a way to level up this already good dining experience. read more

3.5 stars. Came here early Sat night and it wasn't too busy. We were able to grab a table outside and the hostess was kind to turn on the heating lamp for us. Food was ok. Pretzel was a little dry; husband liked his schnitzel though. Beer was quite expensive like 9 dollars for half pint. Prime location...Probably won't be returning any time soon. read more

This place is essentially a new menu added to the Olympus Cafe, both under the same ownership. The Olympus Cafe is still around and you can order everything from the Olympus food menu and they still have their Middle Eastern desserts. The Das Bierhauz has a menu with German beers, German sausages, and brunch items. Otherwise, the same food, decor, order at the counter set-up, etc. I wanted to try the Das Bierhauz menu, so I got the beef sausage and pretzel. I'd pass on the kinda dry pretzels. The beef sausage wasn't bad inside a toasted warm roll. The small pleasant outdoor seating would be the reason to come here, less so for the food. It's a chill place to hang, especially at night, since they're open until 9pm while many other restaurants in Silicon Valley are closing earlier. They're kind of slow bringing out the food and the one server was busting his butt running around doing his best. It's located on the lower end of Castro by the train tracks. read more

We originally weren't sure if this was a German or a Mediterranean restaurant because there were two different names on the outside of the restaurant. The Biergarten tables and big Bavarian flags outside drew us in to check it out. It turns out that they are a blend of cultures since the food is mostly German but many of the desserts were Mediterranean. We only had room for the beer and German food on this visit, but we will definitely go back when we're in the area to try more next time! The veal was a bit thick (not pounded/flattened like the traditional version) but it was still very tender and tasty--especially with the jaeger-style mushroom sauce on top! The spätzle's texture and flavor was more like American Mac & Cheese , but again, the flavor was good--especially if you're a fan of melted cheese! This is a solid spot to have a drink and a snack on a nice day. When we went there were plenty of available outdoor tables (seemed to be an outdoor-only place but I wasn't looking too hard inside). Good location near the Caltrain station if you have some time to kill before the next train. While not my favorite German beer spot in the Bay Area, it is definitely worth a visit. read more

Ordered via Food delivery. Had the Wurst plate, not a fan. Not sure if the beef wurst was supposed to taste like American hotdog ... but it did. Veal sausage was alright, I liked the chicken sausage more. The sauerkraut was quite dry, did not like it. I'd recommend either Ludwig's or Teske's over this place. read more

DB has a good permanent space outside to eat compared to many of the other restaurants on Castro which have makeshift COVID spaces. They offer a great selection of beer (about 20 on tap plus bottles) and wine. I liked the Kolsch. We both got burgers, one medium well and the other medium rare, both came out medium well. The portion of fries was abundant, so much so we required additional ketchup. The burgers were the most average of average. They covered the COVID stuff well and the food delivery staff was spot on. read more

Das Bierhauz in old town Mountain View is a wonderful place to enjoy beers and food in a beer garden overlooking the Main Street and historic train station. The customer service is excellent and my significant other was static to see his favorite beers on tap and beers that are often served at Oktoberfest in Germany. I enjoyed a lagger sampler, that was delicious with generous pours. My kiddo loved the kids' chicken nuggets and the freshly baked pretzel that we shared. There was plenty of shade and the patio & beer garden is dog friendly too. We will definitely return to Das Bierhauz next time we are in Mountain View. read more

The absolute best Happy Hour special in Mountain View. From 3-6 PM, for $5, choose a half liter pour of a wonderful selection of classic German bier, or spend $10 to get a full liter. There are tons of non-alcoholic options as well, making this an ideal spot to meet up with colleagues. Plus, counter service or at table ordering means no awkward conversations about splitting the check. And the patio, ah, the patio, with old and shady trees, Bavarian flags, and ample seating, make this the best place to wait for a train or just unwind. If I were in the area and had time, I'd stop for a beer. Otherwise, there are plenty of good beer places where I live that have way better food. I made a point to try this place. For food, order at the counter. Get a number. Have a seat. After ordering food I was looking around and noticed no one else was having a meal. Not a good sign. It was a wet night so not many people outside. (which would have been a good day time / warm night spot). Inside with the tables filled, it was a tight space - like twist or turn to walk between tables. There were people hawking to see who was going to finish next and then sort of eye and hover. Since we were the only ones eating entrees, we received our food fairly quickly. There was a reason for it.... ***Pretzel- bread like with soft center. It worked but I was wondered where they are buying those? ***Veal brawt with f.f and kraut. - good sausage highly doubt home made, below mediocre shoestring f.f. from the freezer and the kraut wasn't delicious. Value here didn't exist. *Veal schnitzel - patty was def from a bag in the freezer and thrown in the deep fryer. It was partially burned and hard crispy. Lots of mushrooms in the sort of brown sauce. Sauce was bland. The spaetzle wasn't fresh and reminded me of a store bought, on the shelf, add the water, pour in the cheese packet, mac n cheese. Wouldn't do it again. *A coke in a can. It was all self serve and no cups or ice was out. Maybe we should have asked. ****A liter of beer. That was the best thing all night. And speaking of beer, there wasn't anything that's not a standard now a days. With a German flag in front, I was hoping for a keg of something regional. No such luck. There was a bunch of greek / med food on the menu. Marin Sun Farms is a good source for meat, so maybe a burger? The desserts in the case looked like it came out of a box, so we passed. $71, pre tip (no real service to speak of): won't do it again. read more

Stopped here on a Thursday evening to catch up with some friends. This place has a small indoor and a big outdoor seating area. One needs to order food inside and it would be brought to your table, I would recommend finding a seating first and then go to order. The outdoors was full around 7 pm. They have a good selection of beers, food not that much. Food menu contains some appetizers (hummus, fries, pretzel), pitas, burgers and some plates. We liked the beers but the food was ok, nothing great. Good place to catchup, or to stop by after work to grab a beer for dinner there are other good restaurants around. read more

The food very clearly is reheated trash from Costco business center or some other supply store. I'm just waiting for pop tarts or a frozen Betty Crocker came to show up on the menu. Service was ok and ambience is fine because it's on Castro which is why people go there. Beer selection is ok. Steins nearby is better ambience and menu for sure. There was another beer garden here called Bierhaus previously and I really liked that but Mountain View seems to have changed. The owner of the building, I guess, liked the concept and kicked the restaurant out, took their liquor license and opened a copy cat concept but with bad food. read more

This is heaven for a foodie. Be sure to go inside and order, rather than scan the QR code. There is a treasure trove awaiting you! The mint mocha and carrot cake were exactly what the doctor ordered to satiate my sweet tooth. The chicken crepe and hashbrowns were savory and well prepared, unlike most places that burn them. My partner in crime had the cinnamon French toast which was decadent, but delicious. It's a Mish Mash of turkish, Greek, and German food, but oddly enough it works really well. read more

Her Shirley Temple was sitting there at the bar, and they had accidentally put it in a typical glass, which is not permitted at the pool. The bartender apologized because the server who had taken my order at the pool, did not relay to the bartender that the order was for the pool area. All in all, I would never eat here again. As a local, it's disappointing because the ambience is nice. But the food is overpriced and not even close to being good. And as for the service? My God. This was officially the worst restaurant I have ever eaten at. Ever. When the manager of the hotel asked how our stay was, I casually mentioned that the restaurant was lacking in a lot of ways. But I didn't expand on the experience. However, I was surprised to see that the manager had taken off the meals from the charges to my room when I checked out. And I sincerely appreciate that. I never asked for it, but was appreciative as it was unexpected. Bottom line. The hotel is a nice stay, and I plan on staying again. But you couldn't pay me to eat at that restaurant.

The Last Word was more complex than I had anticipated probably because of the green Chartreuse. Fernando used Starbucks coffee in the espresso martini. The coffee was good, but unfortunately overpowered the gin. If we had known, we probably would have asked for a stronger gin. The negroni was good, but not really my kind of drink. I started to like it a bit after some ice melted and the bitter taste was not as dominant. We were the only customers at the bar from 9:30 to 11pm. Appreciated the space all to ourselves and Fernando's drinks and company.

Cole slaw was tasty. Next time I'll try a different side. But my super highlight- you brought back the Oreo cookie ice cream 'sandwich'- which don't think I didn't notice it's half the size now. Still amazing with the chocolate sauce. I haven't visited in awhile - this was my birthday restaurant- but when you messed with the cornbread, took it off the menu and took away the Oreo sandwich- I was reluctant to return. Thanks for bringing back the favorites. But please bring the cornbread back. Service was ok- pleasant but I would say I didn't feel as welcomed as I have in the past. Lots of waitstaff but very standoffish. I felt they were all walking around unhappy. Must be the cornbread.

I ordered the burger with fries, and it was SO good! The burger was juicy, flavorful, and cooked perfectly, and the fries were crispy and addictive. We also shared a few sides, including the roasted potatoes and Brussels sprouts, and everything tasted fresh and delicious. I really enjoyed the casual outdoor atmosphere too. It's a great place to hang out with a group, enjoy good food, and just relax. Now I understand why people were lining up before they even opened! Definitely a place I'd come back to. We went on a Sunday and it was PACKED, but their table system was super efficient and we got seated sooner than expected. Great ambiance with lots of indoor/outdoor seating. Very family and large-group friendly, plus dogs are welcome outside and they even have a dog menu! We tried the Besio pizza, roasted chicken & kale salad, garlic Parmesan fries, and six-layer chocolate cake. The pizza was a classic wood fired pizza with a great crust and so much flavor from the spicy fennel sausage. A great size for sharing. The salad was good but a little small for the price. The fries were crispy and garlicky (a little lacking on the Parmesan but still good). The cake was 100/10. Light, airy, and not overly sweet. That's a must order! The folks who work at this Holder's are friendly and on top of things while respecting your space. Your coffee cup will not be empty for long. My wife had the Patty Melt ($18) with extra grilled onions. It was juicy and delightful. I had the Tri Tip Steak, medium rare, with extra vegetables instead of the normal mashed potatoes & vegetables ($30). The steak was perfectly prepared and delicious. I asked for some Parmesan cheese for the al dente veggies, which added to the flavor. Our friends had the Shrimp Avo Salad ($21) and the Reuben Sandwich ($19). The Reuben was very tasty and the shrimp salad had many large shrimps on it. Most of the tables were in booths, but there are several normal tables with movable chairs, which we find to be more comfortable.
