It's been several years since we've been as we don't live in Norman. But we were and after our appointment we stopped there for a late as in 2:45pm late lunch. It wasn't busy, surprise, but we were greeted and seated immediately. They have a good selection of beers which were all available. We passed on an appetizer, but I would of picked 2 if we had had time to set a spell. Grilled Sausage appetizer, bite siz brat, chees brat, white lightning sausages in bite size pieces and bavarian sauerkraut and the Munich bread basket, because german bread with german mustard. Yes, please. I went with the Reuben sandwich. Ruebens are my go to. If I see it on a menu I'm ordering it. Corned beef, kraut, swiss cheese, their special sauce on toasted rye bread. Loved it. The bread to filling was great. Toasted perfectly and buttery. Crunchy. Meat was lean so you didn't take a bite of it and 1/2 of it drag off the sandwich because of fat. Kraut not to tangy or wet, and sauce was like 1,000 island, but not as sweet which I appreciated. Swiss was melted and clung to the meat and bun. This came with a side of my choice and because one can never have too much cabbage I picked red cabbage. Delicious as a side. Not over cooked. Cabbage was tender but you had a chew to it. A bit sweet, but not like over the top sweet. I was happy with my choices. This restaurant is great for dinner and worth the drive to East Main in Norman. They have happy hour from 2-6 and a good variety of German beers. The staff is incredibly helpful and has a great sense of humor. I went a little non-traditional getting meatloaf on a pretzel bun with some sauerkraut and have to give it a big thumbs up. My hubby and I enjoy trying different cuisine. We are not very familiar with German food but this must be pretty traditional. The restaurant was very clean and tables are very roomy. Emily, our server was friendly and happy to explain the dishes. I recommend the Goulash soup, it's more like a stew. The hot roll didn't need butter. It was soft inside and crumbly on the outside. It's a small dish but filling. Cucumber salad and pretzels were average. Hubby's Weiner Schnitzel with an egg was a hit. He liked the aioli. I'm not sure what was in it. To celebrate my last week of freedom before being invaded by my kid coming home from college for the summer I decided to have German food!!! My kid hates German so I rarely get to eat it...... Anywhoo, on to what really matters. Sausages and beer. I had the grobe bratwurst sausage sandwich with spaetzel for my side. The sausages are made in house and grilled. I sliced off a tiny piece of the end of the sausage and stuffed it in my mouth sans mustard or sauerkraut. It took all of my self control to not proceed immediately to sticking up the place. Keep the money. Give me all the damn sausages. NOW. It was a flavor explosion. Straight up, the best bratwurst sausage I ever ate. Ingrid needs to step her game up in that kitchen ya'll!!! (Ingrids kitchen is actually really good). I also got a flight of beer to test them out. They brew their own beer according to some ancient German beer purity and chastity laws or somesuch. The gold one is pretty decent and was a great counterpoint to the sourness of the mustard and saurkraut. But overall I think that chastity is overrated if you're over 21. Keep the beer. We were looking for a place to eat while at the Norman Music Festival. We entered this Restaurant to eat some German food. The place was packed because of the festival. But they were very efficient in getting us a table. We were told a fifteen minute wait but was seated in 10. The restaurant itself is a lot larger than you would think. I holds lots of people and it had big community table, individual tables and a popular bar area. The lighting is very unique. The lights are glass boots. TV,s are a big plus. We had a sausage sampler and was so good. They give you a sample of three of their most popular sausages along with a nice mustard sauce. The spicy sausage is very spicy. You should have some beer ready. The German sliders on a pretzel bun were great. My wife loved the potato salad but I thought is was lacking in flavor. My cheesy noodles were very good. However the fried onions had no crunch to them. Now that I've been here I will order differently and get the Jagersnitchel on top of the cheeses noodles. Or some variation of that. I was not able to order my beer in a boot because of the Festival which gives me reason to return. That will be a fun experience. I saw many other items that I want to try. I enjoy trying different types of food and I'm a pretty big fan of German food so this place had been "bookmarked" on my list for a long time. I'm glad to say that overall I enjoyed my visit to Das Boot Camp restaurant the other evening. I think the decorations on the inside of the restaurant are playful and funny. I really like the plastic boot lights. Very creative. There are plastic boots for beer as well! Overall the food was good. We started with an order of friends cheese curds and a boot of Dunkel for my date and a pint of Oktoberfest for me. Or my main dish, I ordered the plain Weiner Schnitzel and it was good but it was dry and really needed a sauce. Luckily I had some mustard and a dill sauce leftover from the fried cheese curds (not sure what they called them on the menu) that I drenched my pork with, which made it better. My partner ordered the Jäger Schnitzel that came drenched in a delicious gravy sauce and a bunch of bacon.... Need I say more?! BACON!!! Note: I'd highly recommend what he ordered...especially since it only costs 50 cents more than my plate did. We both ordered the German potato salad and we weren't very impressed. We both have made our own German potato salads from scratch and enjoy those and the way our families make it way more. This restaurant's version was very bland to put it mildly...no vinegar was used...no bacon either. Pretty disappointed with my side and like I said the main dish and appetizer were good but not great. I really enjoyed my bf's dish though. This place is pretty freaking good. When you go in they have old German polka style music to kinda put you into an ol style German kitchen. The place is pretty big with a nice open floor plan with the bar located to the back of the restaurant. They have nice tv's on all the walls so you can come during game day and catch the game. Now onto the food. It is all hot and made to order. I had the schnitzel with mashed potatoes. Both were amazing and authentic. We had a pretzel with brown mustard and cheese dip. Very tasty and very big portions. Now for desert. This is by far the best thing these guys offer!!! Holy cow they are big desserts and for only $3.99 for each!! That's pretty cheap for what you are actually getting. We got the German chocolate bread pudding with hot caramel and chocolate sauce drizzled on top with whip cream. We also got the apple cobbler. Went here for the UYE! Had a great time. I want to give this place a 3.5 until I try more of the food. It was pretty packed when we arrived and were told it would be a 30-45 minute wait, we decided to still wait it out. We probably only waited 10-15 minutes. We were seated and immediately our server came to take out drink orders. We talked and looked over the menus for a few and finally we all decided on our dishes. I ordered the boot camp burger barbarian style and the husband ordered the Jager Schnitzel. I wish I would of ordered what he got. The Boot camp burger was good, but not satisfying. The Husbands food was delicious. Totally wanted to trade, lol. He also got the Goulash Soup for an appetizer, it was decent but lacked flavor in my opinion. He really seemed to enjoy it though. Our server was really friendly and attentive. The atmosphere is very fun and inviting, lots of tv's and they even have boot lighting fixtures. I will say they maybe need to come up with a new seating style as their seating is long tables and there isn't too many of them so it gets full fast and you have a couple just using a table made for 8. The most notable feature of this restaurant, aside from their amazing food, good service, and convenient location? THEY HAVE FREAKING DELIVERY. Yes, that's right. You read that correctly. If you're at home, feeling sick or too exhausted to cook after a long day--just order food by calling in or going on Order Up and they'll DELIVER their food to you. It's a $4 delivery charge, but that's worth it to me. Moving along. They have a well priced alcohol selection. $4 for a liter boot and $2.99 shots. They brew their own beers as well. Those beers are very, very sought after people. After the big soccer games--Das Boot Camp ran out of all of their Citrus Blonde beer and had to wait almost a week for their reserve beers to finish fermenting. So get your beer while you can. First come, first serve! Their staff shirts are freaking awesome. And you can buy them!!! "Keep calm and drink a boot." "Our boot is made for drinking." They come in gray, green and red, and go up to XXL. *Scoops more brownie points* Okay. Now for the food. I ordered the Nurenberger sausages with mashed potatoes, and a Coke. Sweet mother of mercy. Royal Bavaria is good, okay? It's fantastic. So when I say I liked this better than the sausages I had ordered previously at Royal Bavaria--that's saying something. The sausages were moist and flavorful, hot and nicely grilled. (Some people burn the crap out of their sausages before serving them. No. Don't do that. Bad people.) The Neurenberger sausages have a marjoram/garlic/onion flavor, but it's not an insanely strong flavor that leaves you with stinking breath for weeks. It's good. Really good. Also if you cut the sausage up and dip it into the dijon mustard it makes it even better. I had ordered the mashed potatoes on a previous trip to DBC (with the schnitzel) and wasn't crazy about them because of the hordes of mushroom gravy that had been put on top of it. So I was hesitant to try them again. The mashed potatoes were so good I put the sausages to rest for a moment and stuffed my face full of the stuff. I could barely make notes in my phone about them because ooohhhhh myyyy goosshhh they were so GOOD. These mashed potatoes didn't come swimming in mushroom gravy. Oh no. These creamy, slightly lumpy mashed potatoes had a crater of au jus gravy sauce type stuff inside of it. (It closely resembles au jus, but it was a bit thicker and had seasoning and was more flavorful, thus, "au jus gravy sauce type stuff.") If you aren't crazy about brown mushroom gravy--get the mashed potatoes with this stuff. The meal also came with a "hard roll." I figured the bread would be hard, given that it's a "hard roll." Not personally a fan of hard bread, but hey, German food. I'll eat whatever you put in front of me. A pleasant surprise when I discovered that the bread roll wasn't hard...it was soft and warm! Not warm like sitting-under-a-heat-lamp-for-hours kind of warm. Warm like fresh-out-of-the-oven warm. It was doughy and delicious and amazing. I could have eaten ten of those if I had the chance. As I'm coming down from my climax of intense flavor sensations, my server comes and pops the question. "Would you like desert?" Cue the internal struggle of, "No...I really shouldn't...but my dinner was so delicious...what sort of amazing things could they do to me for dessert?" I succumbed to my curiosity's carnal desires. They have apple streusel, cream streusel, cheesecake that comes in raspberry, chocolate and caramel, bread pudding, and a chocolate martini. I ordered the raspberry cheesecake. I've been on a cheesecake kick lately, which can prove to be a dangerous battle for me since I'm rather persnickity about my cheesecake. I absolutely despise The Cheesecake Factory's cheesecake. It's that bad. Anywhoo. Their cheesecake was bomb. It was light and fluffy but still had enough weight to it to make it a good cheesecake. It was sweet and rich...but not too rich. Cheesecakes are difficult things, and they did an excellent job on this one. Also, the raspberry wasn't some cheap raspberry fake drizzle. Had a fantastic dinner at Das Boot on Friday night. It was over half full, so it was brisk, but we sat right down in the bar area. We were immediately approached by a server, so we had our drinks quickly. But, she was also the bartender, so her attention was divided. It took awhile before we could order our dinners, but other than that, the service was good. It wasn't her fault, I think they had her spread too thin for a Friday night. We started with the grilled sausage appetizer. It's quite a lot of food for $6.99: 3 sausages (traditional kielbasa, spicy, and a sausage with cheese inside), mustard, and a lot of sauerkraut. All of the sausages were juicy, and they are sliced for easy sharing. Great way to sample a lot of sausages for a low price. To eat, we were having trouble deciding between the cheesy noodles and the jager schnitzel. My buddy had the idea (I wish it was mine, but I can't steal credit) to get the noodles with a side of schnitzel. So, we asked our server, who confirmed that we would be able to add the large schnitzel (5 ounces) for only $6. This is a steal, that the dish was fantastic, sort of a German chicken parmesan (with pork). The noodles are served with both raw and fried onions, and they add flavor, salt, and crunch to the dish. The swiss cheese sauce is thick, but not too thick, and flavorful. The schnitzel was thin, fried crispy, and seasoned well. It also remained juicy despite being pounded thin. It was a solid schnitzel, and like I said, went great with the noodles. I give Das Boot Camp 5 stars because of the atmosphere and the prices. If it were 30-50% more, I'd give it 4 stars. We had a very solid dinner, and washed it down with some good brew. The prices ($10 for the pasta, only $7 for the large sausage appetizer) are fantastic. For many years, people in the Oklahoma City Metropolitan area have enjoyed a slice of Germany at Royal Bavaria in the countryside east of a sleepy suburban town called Moore. And more is what Royal Bavaria's Andy Gmeiner, a son of München, Deutschland (Munich, Germany), gives us. I am an amateur chef of my own home kitchen. Our livingroom is really an egyptian-adorned karaoke bar. For friends and household, we have served fresh local homemade foods from California Salad, to Curries, and even a whack at Kushari, and authentic tacos. We make beer, honey wine, and sauerkraut. On occasion, we make authentic German bratwurst and currywurst sauce. Having lived and travelled in Germany for the Air Force, I enjoyed sampling and mountain-biking the real Germany that tourists don't see. Eating at Das Boot Camp in Norman, Oklahoma, is like having lunch on Ringkirchestraße in Wiesbaden on a Saturday. We ordered the bread sampler, sausage sampler, rotisserie chicken & salad, pork roast with potatoes, goulash, french fries, and sauerkraut. If you have never made these foods or would like a taste of Germany, this is a good inexpensive place to eat. Overall, the experience is authentic. Service seems polished and reflects the training that real German wait staff receive. As I remember about Germany, service in a restaurant is considered a trade and one must be trained and qualified before standing in front of a customer. While I don't know if that is what Andy did here, I can see that his wait staff certainly has been trained. The young lady who assisted us mentioned that the Chef prepared everything on the menu for all the wait staff to try. That is a sign to me that Andy takes service seriously ad.nd is focussed on getting the right information to the customer. I like the beer hall layout and large wood beer hall tables. Colors are neutral, natural, and the space is well lit. 1950s skis and poles crossed on the wall gave me a feeling of a lodge. Seven large screen TVs were around the room on a football game. Andy turned the TVs into windows with curtains, wood, and everything... it was certainly a German beer hall. During "the game" I can see these in use... but, for a dinner service, I think it would be better to show different angles of the countryside of Moore, Norman, and Munich. Glass boots hanging from the ceiling for lamps are bit gimmicky. Athmosphere is authentic. Problems were handled quickly. The menu was pleasingly small, which should result in a less burdened kitchen. Less than 5 minutes after placing orders, food reached the table. Ten minutes later, the main course arrived... But, I was not done with the starter... so, the table got crowded quickly. The pork roast sauce was very good: I could taste a hint of Royal Bavaria's own beer, jus, and a little oil... light and not heavy. The meat was dry, alluding to sitting under a heat lamp waiting for the rest of the order. The potatoes were supposed to be cold, but were room temperature. The smaller potato pieces were perfect texture, but the larger pieces were a little undercooked in the middle. The plate was gratefully uncomplicated and tasty. My palette struggled to understand if the potatoes were supposed to be hot or cold. I WANT THAT GRAVY! Chicken was perfect. Salad was not dressed. The sausage plate had a little surprise in every bite. As you went around the plate, the meat got spicier! They hit this one out of the ballpark for leading me down a path to an Oklahoma favorite: the hotlink. I feel that the bratwurst, though tasty with white ground pepper, needed some of the other traditional bratwurst spices to stand out... I simply could not taste the blend of caraway, garlic, mustard,sage, or other spices... all that I could taste was the meat, the pepper, and that was about it. Most of the bratwurst sold in stores around Oklahoma City is not authentic bratwurst from the main streets that I remember in Germany, which is why we make it at home. With treaditional hot brown mustard, you will enjoy... By the time I got into the hotlink, I even cried a little... LOL. That was hot! The goulash rocked like Ramstein singing Born to be Wild in German with fine meat, a few small diced bits of jalepeno, and pureed/stewed roasted tomatoes. The french fries were good, but seemed a little greasy. Perhaps. me ordering french fries with sauerkraut and pork roast should be outlawed. The sauerkraut It is REALLY MILD and tastes good. If you make sauerkraut, like me, it will seem bland. It tastes like a 7 day room temperature fermentation. Real sauerkraut has some randomness to the cuts. This is real kraut, but not fresh. Kraut should be a little crunchy, with soft edges, and have a sharp bite and powerful smell. Kraut that has been warmed in a sauce pan too long with a little water, loses it's krautness. Your wallet will still be full when you leave, at about $12 per person. read more

I have continued to come back to this place for their jägerschnitzel and it is the best I've German food I've just about ever had. Their staff is always friendly and the food is always quality.
