My family and I had a terrible experience. They were busy, so we waited at the door before being seated. However, after being seated nobody came over to our table for 20 minutes. We asked for ice-waters, and at least 10 minutes later, a waitress brings out a pitcher of water (no ice), and cups and leaves immediately. We waited another 10 minutes before deciding to leave, and we never got to order food. The server was impolite/rude and the service was not well. I would not recommend. read more

We had never heard of this restaurant and went there because its location was good for meeting friends . What a fabulous find it is I'm almost tempted not to write about it because I love it so much. The menu is amazing and perfectly prepared the bartenders and waitresses could not have been nicer or more friendly. Most recent time we went back the cook had overcooked all the prime ribs so I could not get what I wanted. Very shoddy this time around.

dashers has been noted for their delicious New England clam chowder and I look forward to having some, but the last two times I went there which is just the last couple months it was not up to par at all, there was two clams on top in the shell but there was none in the rest of the soup and the mashed potatoes instead of cut up potatoes was quite unappetizing. I ordered a medium rare ny strip, for $36. The waitress said "That'll have a warm, red center. Is that ok?" Yes, that's exactly what I'm looking for. But instead, I get a steak that probably fell between med. well to well done. A few center pieces had a little pink but most did not. I told her, and she asked if I wanted another one. Well, no bc I don't have time to wait for another. We've already been there a while(not a complaint, they're usually busy and it's understandable)But..how about offering to take something off our bill? Since we racked up a $150 tab. I was in from Buffalo for my nieces 9th birthday. We spent the day at a Greek Peaks indoor water park so we were famished. Showed up around 630ish. Of course dad didn't make a reservation. That's how he rolls. I was a server for 20 years, my triumph is him finally leaving an appropriate tip, not reservations and there were 8 of us mind you. Sigh. Luckily the hostess was able to accommodate. We got a great table past the bar very private and awesome. Dad and I split the oysters on the half shell which were amazing. My BIL got the mild wing which I usually hate but whatever they do to that sauce was slamming!! We did get drink from the bar which is only cuz dad and I drink fast. Nothing to do with our server and AGAIN. we were a walking in 8 top. Much of the table got the lobster bisque which was a big hit. My lobster newburg. was forgotten but no biggie I got it to go. On to the entrees. One sister had halibut with lobster ravioli in sherry cream sauce. Yum other sister has prime rib with creamy horsey also yum. AND my entree was forgotten. Sigh again. Sever owned up to the mistake. She was great. I get it mistakes happen. And nothing is more horrifying than having to return to the dreaded table. Any hoo got the banana cream pie to go. Yum again!!! Found this place by accident. I almost didn't go in because "Pub" is in the name and I wasn't looking for pub food. But the outside area and what I could see of the inside seemed very nice so took a chance. It appears Dashers is two separate things, a nice looking pub with a well appointed bar and a lot of the things I'm reading about here, grilled cheese, etc. I don't know anything about that half. The restaurant half, well we were so pleased we came back 2 more weeks in a row. From what I gather, the owner's dad ran a NYC restaurant and he learned the business. What he also seems to have done is conjure up his Dad's menu from the 1950's and I mean that in a good way. I have not seen Steak Diane on any menu in years. This simple dish was done well. Similarly the coquilles St.-Jacques was perfect, and a blast from the past The Cioppino was the largest portions I've ever had in that or similar dishes (Zupa de Pesce, etc) and it had a big piece of lobster. The flavor & quality matched the size. One item I haven't seen in years and am dying to try is the pasta bocconcini. Prices reasonable, the wine by the glass prices very much so. Staff was friendly, attentive and personable, even later in the night. Definitely give this place a try for the higher end of the menu, and frankly, for something different than what everyone is serving (can we retire Mac & Cheese, meatloaf, and the word "Bistro"?) Suggestion. Back in the day a place with a bar & a restaurant would have paper napkins in the bar area, cloth in the restaurant. Hit and miss. Somehow they have the worst wings I've ever had, they are always sadistically over-cooked, and I like a crispy wing. Their burgers are good but a little pricey. Fries are great. Their clam chowder is sublime. We've had things here that were fantastic, and things that were just ok. For the prices, it should be better than OK. Very disappointed that they no longer serve beer from Cortland Brewing Company. Hence I save my money and no longer get anything to drink here other than water. Local businesses should support each other. We have had some fantastic meals here, and some that truly underwhelmed, so I docked them a few stars for high prices and uneven consistency of the food. That said, they are helping to revitalize downtown Homer and have a very wonderful vibe, and I appreciate them being here. read more

I came on Yelp just to write a review for this place. My friend and I were driving back to the city from wine tasting in upstate NY when we randomly got off an exit and found this restaurant through my Yelp app. For a small town, we were so impressed by the place - a local pub atmosphere with bistro quality cuisine. There's about 10 different grilled cheese options (like bree with candied walnuts) and even great oysters! I had their clam chowder, which was amazing along with a crab cake that was full of meat and lightly fried - just perfect. They also focus on keeping it local by sourcing from regional farms, breweries and wineries. I highly recommend Dasher's! read more

I have to agree with others now and say this place is really hit and miss. Service has always been good but we've not loved the food on the last two visits. When we were there earlier this week I had the pepper steak. It was more like prime rib but with the sauce on it, so it was fatty and had quite a bit of gristle running through it. Great food, great atmosphere, great service. In a beautiful little town, stopped for a quick bite and no complaints whatsoever.

A few points to keep in mine when dining here: (1) There is a huge selection of grilled cheese sandwiches. They range from the basic grilled cheese sandwich to options such as a Cuban sandwich and many other options. One example which we did not have is the cordon blue, which is Swiss cheese, ham, and turkey. The Cuban sandwich was good. We both had one. The version with Italian bread was very good. The version with the Portuguese roll was better - give it a try. (2) The default side dish with the sandwiches is a cup of the tomato bisque. It is very good, not too strong in flavor but very good. (3) Although the lunch menu does not say so, you also get a small order of homemade corn chips and salsa. Excellent, crispy chips and spicy salsa that make for a nice touch. (3) You can substitute fries for the bisque and chips. The fries are not seasoned, come with salt on them, and are quite tasty. Eating outdoors is a nice feature in the interesting town of Homer (or is it a village?). read more

For example I ate the Sicilian sandwich with a side of tortilla chips and salsa ...interesting combo. Do not order the Utica greens as they are very soupy and nothing like true Utica greens. Stopped by for dinner after restaurant was highly recommended by a friend. Ordered the Filet And Lobster, requesting the Filet to be prepared medium rare, to which the server, Tanya, said "that's cool with a red center," and I agreed. The meal came out and the steak was warm with a gray and slightly pink center, so I politely brought it to her attention to which Tanya replied "well, it looks perfect to me." She then said she could take it back to the kitchen and they'd make me another one that would look the exact same way. The tone, persistence that I was wrong and the steak was perfect was very rude. My friends who were with me all had very good meals, as they did not order the steak. What could have been a simple and easily resolved issue turned into a rude interaction that has left a bad taste in my mouth, in addition to the overly dry, chewy filet. I will definitely not consider coming here again, although the menu is great and the aesthetic is very rustic which is what I typically go for. read more

Big menu with great variety of classics - turf and surf, pasta, chicken, etc. Great apps and starters. Classic pub atmosphere, could not be more comfortable. Great service from Libby, who grew up in Homer. We had to pass up the classic Mains as we couldn't linger and had a long drive ahead, but my burger was perfect and my wife's power salad (kale and ahi tuna) was excellent. We had a delicious dinner last August (2016) before CRT theatre. Superb Lobster bisque and great steak. We recommended it to many. We decided stop again this year before theatre. It started poorly w/rude hostess who told us if we wanted to sit outside we could but she hadn't checked the weather & if it rained and there were no sitting inside it was on us. I understand that but she was rude about it and then told us we could sit under the overhang and changed her mind. We decided to take our chances. We excitedly started w/the lobster bisque again. Over salted was an understatement. Watered down and tastes like tomato soup. Then cam the eggplant napoleon. It was so full of grease it needed napkins to soak it up. The linguine tasteless. They obviously DID NOT salt the pasta water. Pasta boccotini I ordered just as bland and tasteless. The waitress came by and said 'it's delicious isn't it?!' We just kinda looked at her. Finally she came back and asked if we wanted containers to take home w/us as she could see we didn't eat either dinner. So we explained we didn't need it as we really loved our steak dinners last year but found this just the opposite. She gave us our check and $80 later w/tip and two wines we left hungry. A surprise in the town of Homer. The food here is very good in a pub setting (that means a happy noise level people!). The restaurant was very busy the night we ate there due to a pre Homer Center for the Arts, Ani DiFranco concert crowd (excellent show and venue by the way). The management is on it. Plenty of friendly energetic staff to serve us hungry folk. We started with the Calamari which was excellent, lightly breaded and very tasty. I had the Seared Scallops which was delicious. It was served with a lobster creamed corn and salt potato side. A bit salty for my taste, however my dinning mate enjoyed it as is. He ordered the Prime Rib which was delicious (he shared a piece). We shared a in season Apple Crisp topped with Vanilla Ice Cream. DDDDelicious. I plan to come back again before our next concert to explore their other delightss. If you're going to charge $10 for a mediocre sandwich and $25 for a steak, I would prefer not to see fiberglass insulation hanging from the rafters. I would also expect to have a proper heating system instead of a dusty metal box blowing loudly.
