Came here for dinner on a Saturday night right before heading to the movies. We were sat pretty fast as the place was a little empty. Our server was very attentive and had fast service. The inside is nice and they also have a cute little outdoor patio, which would be a great place for brunch. I had the April in Paris sandwich, which was very light and yummy and their chips are so good! My boyfriend had the risk for the brisket sandwich, which was pretty good that fell apart pretty immediately in his hands. I definitely would love to come back here and this is definitely a personal preference, but I don't love how each of the menu items has a special name for the item as it kind of took me a long time to read through the menu because I had to read all of the descriptions in detail . read more

I haven't been back to Datz in a couple of years, so I was very excited for the chicken donut sandwich. Unfortunately, they didn't have it! They took all their donuts off their menu, which is mind blowing! When I first started coming here years ago, it was for their donuts. We decided to stay because it was brunch time and we were hungry. We were surprised to see the brunch crowd was very small, which is unusual. We got the cheese crusted tacos to share and the money bread to share. The money bread was fine. The tacos were fine. The cocktails were good. The coffee was bad. I couldn't even drink it. Overall, a severely underwhelming experience. I would give it another chance just because it used to be good, but I wouldn't go out of my way to come back. read more

I treated my wonderful wife to a special birthday dinner here at Datz, in downtown St Pete. Our awesome niece's boyfriend told us about the meatloaf filled with mac and cheese so we had to try it! We arrived Saturday at 5pm so we could park easily on the street and avoid the congestion. Ivan, our excellent waiter, got us a drink and me a spectacular mocktail. We ordered apps and mains and just relaxed and took our time. Ivan provided unhurried and great service. The nachos with blue cheese drizzle and brisket were awesome, starting with house made chips. When we commented on the chips, Ivan said they've been working on the chips and perfected them. We agree! The insane mac and meatloaf was as advertised, flavorful, crazy, huge and fun! This place was close to our hotel. We got takeout. It was good, a lot of food and a bit pricey but we liked it. The service was quick and the greeter was very friendly! The restaurant was really nice looking with a beautiful sitting area, large indoor and outdoor dining areas and a large indoor/outdoor bar. Now the food... We got Macaroni and cheese bites to share and they were nothing to write home about. They were okay but we weren't impressed. My boyfriend got the stuffed meatloaf and it was absolutely delicious!! Meatloaf on a bed of mashed potatoes, peas and onion pearls (my favorite part). It was so good and I wish I had gotten the same. I got the Cheesy Todd and it was MASSIVE! It was impractical though. No way to pick it up or fit that thing in your mouth. I ended up cutting it up and using a fork to eat it. It was very, very dry. The meat was small compared to the "bun" (macaroni and cheese bun). Datz is located right in downtown st Pete close to the bay. It is decorated nicely and service is always good. I had the eggs over easy with 3 meat and home fries. The eggs were raw on top not over easy. But everything else was ok. My wife loved the shrimp and grits. My mother got a delicious chicken sandwich with chips. The chips were stale. We had spent a decent amount of time looking for a fun and affordable place to eat before attending one of the St. Pete Pier concert, and we landed on Datz. We walked in , and we were pretty quickly seated. As soon as I sat down, I noticed a table that needed to be bussed and some miscellaneous trash on the floor. We had to wait a while for someone to come to the table for our drink order. When seated, we were given one food menu. We asked for a drink menu, and it took about 10 minutes. They had to print one off. Guess they were not ready for the Saturday dinner crowd. We both ordered a beer, and at this point, we also placed our food order. I ordered the shrimp and grits. My wife ordered the French Onion Soup and Buffalo Califlower Popcorn. The food arrived in a reasonable amount of time, but we had to wait another five minutes to eat it, as we were not seated with silverware. I dug into the shrimp and grits and was so happy. They were so good, the cream cheese in the Grits made them so creamy. The shrimp was nicely done as well, great flavor. I do wish there was a tad less oil pooled, though. My wife thought the Buffalo Califlower Popcorn was good, but that I was lacking a crunch. She said the soup was pretty tasty. We had also ordered a side of the sweet and salty house made chips with chives and creamy blue cheese drizzle. We both loved these chips. The sweet and salty factor was very nice. The blue cheese and chives are an excellent touch. Nearing the end of the meal, she goes to take the last couple of swigs of beer and notices some floating stuff in the beer. Now, we didn't notice anything in it up to this point, but she was grossed out. It was not an unfiltered beer, so maybe some cruse from the lines. The server did remover the beer from the bill, which was much appreciated. While we ate, we observed various staff in the restaurant and found it comical. It sorta seemed like they were all lost and didn't know their purpose. It truly seems like this place is lacking management, or they are just not present. We'd consider giving them another try, but maybe for breakfast. Our thought is maybe they would have different management working and things would be different and a little cleaner. read more

We used to love the Tampa location, so ventured to St Pete to try another Datz. I wouldn't make the trip again. We ordered the kids chicken tenders, which were very dry and chewy. It came with a chocolate chip coookie which looked burnt, it was hard and way over baked. I had a strawberry fields drink which was my favorite part of the meal. I ordered the Laz's cuban and it wasn't super fantastic. I liked it better way back when it was the Havana Hottie with the sweeter honey mustard. My husband had Risk it for the Brisket. It was better than mine. There are too many options in this area to choose from, we won't be back unfortunately. read more

Anyplace that welcomes dogs is automatic high stars in my book, any place that also brings bacon to them too... well datz the way to my heart. Went for the famous Nashville chicken donut sandwich with fries ($16) and OMG was not disappointed at all! Sweet and savory went and had a baby and it's a stunner. The sando and the fries are well portioned to share too. Service was fast and friendly, surprised at how fast we were sat on a Saturday! I came out here for a family brunch while in town for a visit. The inside looks great. It's clean and spacious and has a nice bar. The menu was overwhelming. There were so many interesting choices it was hard to choose. I was in a French toast mood so went with that. The portion was huge and so delicious, there was fresh fruit on top and the bacon was cooked perfectly. My daughter got the shrimp and grits and we shared from each other's plate and omg I wish I had ordered that. The grits were really good and creamy. It had the perfect consistency and taste. My mom ordered the ribs and that was good too. Everything I tried was amazing. The service, price, and experience were excellent. 5 stars for some great food, fast service and ease of dining with our pup! We decided to try this place after visiting the beach and we thought it would be super crowded. We got seated right away and they brought out an ice water bowl for our pup. We wanted to try the famous burger with Mac and cheese buns but we weren't feel like a burger, so we'll have to try that next. The Nashville Chicken sandwich is what went with, it comes with homemade potato chips but you can substitute your side. We got french fries instead. The sandwich comes on a cinnamon sugar donut and two chicken tenders. I would say the heat is pretty mind. French fries were really good and they didn't skimp on the portion. Our server even brought out a few strips of bacon to give to our pup and then he got a second helping from someone else. He definitely got spoiled and didn't want to leave. Visited Datz in St. Pete for brunch after a visit to the Dali Museum. The space was clean and the staff was friendly. We were seated promptly so the initial experience for my table of three was good, but that quickly devolved to ho hum. While our server was very nice, and quickly came to our table to take our drink order, it took more than ten minutes (perhaps fifteen minutes) to receive coffee at our table. That is just too long to wait, especially as the server did not come to our table to explain the delay or to apologize. Had we been told that the kitchen was making a fresh pot of coffee, we would have been more understanding. Indeed, had our server brought us our water promptly, we could have overlooked the delay in getting our coffee! When the coffee did arrive, it was . . . interesting. It was not bad and it was certainly drinkable -- even enjoyable. It had a flavor, however, that none of my party could identify. In simple terms, it was a good cup of something but it just did not hit like coffee. I ordered a brie and egg sandwich on a brioche bun. It was served with breakfast potatoes. My sandwich was OK, but I could have replicated it with more flavor at home. Lack of seasoning was echoed by others at my table (one who ordered breakfast tacos and one who ordered an omelette). Breakfast potatoes were bland and -- even worse -- clearly had been sitting out for a while as they were quite cold. The price for breakfast for three, including 20% tip, was under $75, so I was pleased with the cost, but I would not likely return to Datz in St. Pete if I find myself in the area again. read more

My partner ordered the Cheesy Todd and liked it but it was a bit dry. One thing that I liked about this place was the creative twists on the menus - ex: spaghetti (in) meatball, stuffed meat loaf, even the cheesy Todd are all really interesting creations. There are tons of seating options for all size parties, and occasions. I go here often for brunch or when I feel like I want brunch food on a weekday. Me and my wife went to DTSP to spend a weekend out (our first without the baby) and were looking forward to a nice evening. We walked the strip and originally went to Oak and Stone (across the street) for dinner but they were unusually busy so we went across the street to a not-so-busy Datz. From the window, we saw a quiet booth that looked open, so we thought it would be a great place to eat. When we walked in, we were greeted by a really friendly guy but we wanted to take a Quick Look at the menu, since we'd originally been set on having Oak and Stone. He was a waiter but said the hostess would be right back to seat us. The hostess showed up and was not even close to as enthusiastic as the original guy and when we asked for the booth that we had eyed (and was still available, she responded with "I can't seat you there because we'll forget about you". Uh...ok. Not a great start. We decided to grab a seat at the bar. At the bar, the bartender met us and was pretty friendly, but when my wife ordered a Sangria, he replied with "No drafts tonight. What else would you like?" It was odd because there was a couple leaving that was finishing off their draft beers in a pint glass. I was hoping for a draft beer so that was pretty disappointing. The taps looked like they had been cleaned for closing, but when I asked the bartender, he confirmed they were open for another 2 hours. Overpriced canned beer it was. When it came time to order, we had decided on an appetizer and ordered the Burnt Ends brisket app and the bartender answered with "Were out of that". Should've walked out on strike three, but since we had ordered drinks (one a canned beer and the other an over-priced under-spiked cocktail) we reluctantly decided to stick it out. To wrap it up, we the food was average that night, but the service was provided by a handful of people that just didn't want to be there or didn't give a rats ass about their customers. I found out later by overhearing a conversation between employees that the Co2 was out which explains why the taps were shut down, but that's an easy thing to apologize for and make a minimal effort to remedy. Honesty it looked like he was ready to go home and everyone else that worked there that night acted like it. Simply, if your system isn't working explain that to the customer. If you're out of something, apologize. If you just don't want a customer to sit somewhere because you'll forget about them, then you probably shouldn't be working in the service industry. We stopped in to Datz St Pete for the first time for a late lunch. We were promptly seated in an outdoor area which was comfortable and not visible from the sidewalk. The menu has a nice selection of appetizers (wings, fusion fries, house-made potato chip, soft pretzels, Buffalo cauliflower, mac bites to name a few). The handhelds included chicken salad, chicken tenders, pulled pork, Nashville hot chicken, Cubans, mahi-mahi, roast beef. You get the picture, something tasty for anyone and everyone. There were nine burgers to choose from, including a Beyond Burger. I could on and on about the menu selection, but it is easy to see it on their site. Be sure to look at the amazing breakfast/brunch menu. We decided on the Fish 'n Chips. It was a generous piece of crispy haddock with fries and coleslaw. Very, very good. The fish was perfectly fried and seasoned. Coleslaw was well seasoned and fresh. We also ordered Roger's Rockin' Reuben which is certified Angus Beef corned beef, sauerkraut, Swiss cheese and Russian dressing. It is served on marbled rye bread with house-made sweet-n-salty chips with creamy blue cheese drizzle and green onions. Delicious. (Note: Eat the chips quickly because they do get soft, and you're going to want to eat all of them) The bar area is large with a table and there inside seating. Datz came highly recommended. When we went to the AMC near by so we figured we'll have lunch first at Datz to check it out. Looking through the menu it was a bit overwhelming with all the options. Definitely, they have some interesting menu options, like the Spaghetti in Meatball and the Stuffed Meatloaf. We decided to go with the The Cheesy Todd and the Datzshuka. The food actually came out looking and tasting great. The Cheesy Todd was a bit dry but overall we really enjoyed our meals. The service on the other wasn't as good and it's mostly because our waitress was inattentive and the food took longer than expected. When we initially sat on our table it took a while till we met our waitress. She was no where to be found most of the time and we had to wait about 45 min for our food to arrive. We arrived an hr and a half before our movie time to give us enough time to eat without being in a rush. Once our food finally arrived we were rushing to eat to make it one time. Went to St. Pete for the weekend and was looking for a nice brunch on Sunday before we drove back home. We were directed to "Datz" The menu was HUGE, kind of overwhelming. After looking over the menu for quite some time (a lot to choose from) we decided on Short Rib Benedict, and the Shrimp and Grits "crowd favorite "..... The Short rib Benedict was really good. Eggs were poached perfectly and the hollandaise was decent. The shrimp and grits caught me off guard.. the grits were actually "cheddar cream cheese grits" which ended up coming out , soupy and overly creamy. Very rich and even sweet, and the shrimp were over cooked and tasted like they were floating in a bowl all day. But, treated myself today and tried the datzshukah, which didn't exist the last time I was here. I like Shakshukah (Sp?) but it's never a go to order for me. However, I was moved to try it with chicken. Is freakin amaze-balls still a word? Was it ever except to me and my 15 year old friends?
