    Original Ground Pork Curry
    Ethan N.

The restaurant is really cozy and small. Theres 3 tables and bar seating, so come but expect to wait or come at an off hour. I got the pork curry, it was tasty but not worth it for $16. I think next time i would try the berry toast and the other cool items on the menu, like the fries. Regardless the food was good! I did notice they prepackage their noodles, so im not sure if they make from scratch, if you care about that. They also serve coffees and cafe style drinks here too, which is nice.

Lovely and lively, but cozy and friendly spot in Lower East Side! Food there is everything excellent both looks and taste. I was obsessed with the chicken Karaage (I am obsessed with Spicy codroe mayo) and Curry! It's tastes like really authentic Japanese. Also they have bunch of Japanese cocktails. Also the lemonade is refreshing! They do open some nights too as a bar and they all are so lovely and full of hospitality you should definitely check them out!!!

We went to the to go side to order and the service was quick. We both got the hojicha, which was just okay; I wish the hojicha flavor was stronger. We got a black sesame toast to split and I got the katsu curry. They don't have a lot of options. The toast is very aesthetic and tastes okay, it's not that sweet. I liked that they packaged the curry separately from the rice and meat. The katsu curry is good, but nothing special. I also recently tried the black sesame latte which has a strong black sesame flavor and is on the thicker side.

Small and cute little brunch spot. There's only 3 tables and a bar seating but food comes out pretty quick. We came on a Saturday morning and they estimated 45 minute wait but we only waited 15 minutes. There's a Little Davelle next door that you can order drinks or food to go. We got the katsu curry, mentai spaghetti, and black sesame and cream cheese toast. I enjoyed the flavors of the spaghetti and katsu curry. The black sesame toast was visually appealing, but we felt that the cream cheese was too overpowering. Overall would come again for the entrees, but maybe skip the toast next time. I would also be interested in trying their black sesame latte since it was sold out this time!

I ordered takeout with a girlfriend. We both got the chicken curry and a jam and cream cheese toast to share. The curry was honestly incredible, but the toast was average and definitely something you can make at home. Over all would definitely reorder the curry but skip the toast.

SOOO GOOD! Such a cute little shop with very few tables and bar seats, but the vibe is so cozy and homey. The toast is INCREDIBLE. So thick and fluffy and the simplicity of the butter and sugar is so comforting. We also got the mentaiko pasta, and it was alright. Not a standout. The fries and ice cream was AMAZING. Crispy truffle fries and great quality creamy ice cream. I can't wait to come back!

Super cute shop with friendly staff, but I found the food a bit hit or miss. The katsu curry rice plate was perfect -- sticky rice with a punchy, super flavorful curry, and a satisfyingly crunchy katsu that was very well cooked. This totally hit the spot! The sesame toast at $13 felt a bit overhyped. Although gorgeous, the ratio of sesame isn't great so you're mostly paying for a thick piece of semi-stale toast and plain cream cheese. If the bread quality was better and they were a bit more generous with the sesame paste, it would've been a much more tasty treat. The red bean / azuki latte also started off strong, but quickly got overly sweet and powdery / gritty. I ended up not being able to finish this one. I did taste my friend's black sesame latte though and that was fantastic -- toasty and nutty with a super rich texture.

Such an adorable Japanese Cafe. They serve quite possibly the prettiest toast in NY. It's amazing how precisely the staff decorates each toast with only the back of a spoon. We tried their black sesame toast which was visually stunning and delicious! The black sesame flavor was potent & the bread was perfectly toasted. We tried their Uni Pasta as well which was deliciously seasoned, but the pasta was unfortunately overcooked. However the Uni flavor was wonderful. It's a little hard to call the red bean latte a latte without espresso (was more just red bean milk) but it was still yummy. Service is great too. They are attentive and kind. Overall, would definitely come back.

Davelle is a small Japanese cafe that offers breakfasts and lunches, in addition to coffee, matcha, and gluten-free ice cream. We stopped by here for an earlier lunch, and we were seated promptly. We ordered: +an Azuki Latte +a Black Sesame Kinako Latte +a Chicken Katsu Curry - chicken cutlet with ground pork curry +and, the Mentai Spaghetti - with spicy cod roe, shiso leaf, and milk The drinks were mediocre, as they just tasted like warm milk; they didn't come out hot, but were lukewarm. The curry was actually pretty delicious, as it was thick and savory; the chicken katsu was large and juicy; this was definitely a filling meal! The Mentai Spaghetti, in which I was look forward to, was just okay; the sauce was very 'milky' and thin, in which I wished it was more thicker in consistency; there could have been more of the roe for flavor and for the saltiness. Staff was friendly, but service was more slower and laid back. Very limited seating inside. +tasty curry +friendly service

Dear diary, Today I went back to Davelle with my childhood friend. I like that it's cozy and I'm obsessed with the matcha coffee jelly drink and the black sesame latte. SO GOODT!!!! TOAST!!!!! Cute and DELISHUS. Biggest complaint is the pasta plate being humongous ??? Like there is a plop of spaghetti in the center and a whole frisbee serving platter sized ikea textured plastic plate is taking up the whole table!! Mind you the tables here aren't big!!!!! What if I wanted two pastas ?????? Anyways love it here.

Most beautiful toast ever eaten! I saw this place on Instagram and knew I immediately wanted to try. We went early on the weekend in the morning and were able to quickly get a seat. Towards the end of our time there it did start to get a line to wait for seating. We sat at the bar and were able to see the toast being made. The toast tasted great and my favorite was the sesame flavored toast. Vibe was a cozy cafe feel with most seating at the bar while there are a couple of tables in the front too. I would just give four stars because it was a little pricey although do get that making the toast is quite labor intensive.

I was so excited to try this place solely for the toast! The toast was so pretty to look at and tasted pretty good too. We got the lemon and honey toast and the berries and cream cheese toast. I wish I also tried their other dishes! I got a matcha with coffee jelly and it was tasty as well. The matcha was strong and the coffee jelly wasn't too sweet.

May be my hopes were too high to begin with. Everything I had here was average. Uni pasta only had uni on the top, rest of pasta lacking the flavor of uni. Toast was pretty but nothing special. Great service and great atmosphere but I will not be back.

If you look at the mural behind the cash out point it gives you a little touch of history what once happened within these walls. I ordered the salmon toast. It was a little hard but I like the cream cheese was thinly spread not just thrown in like many places. The salmon was good and the mint tasted fresh. The capers were like slightly toasted and crispy, i've never had them like that before and I loved it. I think the toast was just missing a little drizzle of olive oil on top. To be honest, I think the capers were my favorite part. They were just this unique texture. I've never experienced before. I also got an iced lavender chai latte to go. It was so light and delightful, with the perfect blend of lavender. I really enjoyed this place and would totally come back again.

When you enter there is a bar you can sit at and two large high top tables next to it. As you walk further in there is a lounge with couches and various sizes tables. The whole space is surrounded by books! Heaven! We ordered a chai, matcha and a ginger cookie. Shout out to the woman taking my order for comping me my drink for my birthday! Everyone from the staff was friendly - I really enjoyed being there. The only thing I would say is someone should come by to check on the tables more often as I had to return other people's abandoned drinks. But you know what first world problems, am I right? Maybe they can have a sign or mention to customers to return their own cups before leaving. I sort of can't imagine why people don't... It is quite popular spot so you need to be very patient and strategic if you want to grab a table, as well as sprinkled with a little bit of luck. We unfortunately got there a little late. I went there at 3pm and hunted for a table and my friend got there by 330pm. By the time we ordered and started drinking our coffees - we were informed the lounge area will be closed at 4pm to prepare for the evening wine bar. Oh right this cafe turns into a wine bar in the evenings! How cool! At 4pm we thankfully grabbed one of the high tables - sharing it with another couple but it was large enough for the 4 of us. The lights dimmed and the atmosphere changed to more intimate. We unfortunately had to leave at 5pm, but I imagined picking up a James Baldwin book, ordering some white wine and enjoying both.... Mmm definitely next time. Maybe sometimes after work - sounds like a great wind down.

We were worried that the large might be too much for two people but honestly we were able to finish it without a problem. The melon pieces were sweet, the ice is milk based so it was creamy and flavorful on its own. We barely used the condensed milk that it came with (and we loved how they put it on the side for us instead). At the bottom of the shaved ice was cereal pieces and mochi which gave a nice different texture. We also tried their drinks specifically their blue lemonade and mango-ade which I thought was just ok. The highlight is definitely their shaved ice. Definitely go for the large as the small seemed much smaller and for double the price, you can get almost 2-3x more.
