My inaugural experience with Dave's was through DoorDash, and as someone who is both gluten-free AND enjoys ordering subs via delivery, I'm fairly used to crumbly, wet bread with but a memory of once being toasted. On that note, Dave's Cosmic Subs was a pleasant surprise. I found their gluten free bread superior to that of Jersey Mikes and their toppings reminiscent of an actual deli rather than a Walmart aisle. For all that a DoorDash-ordered, toasted sub on gluten free bread has going against it, this hit the mark.

Lunch time. I got a Tuna Salad. Very good. Wife got a turkey sub, she says great . Daughter got a chicken bacon sub, she also says great. Pepsi , no Coke ....bummer.

Tried The Grateful Dave (turkey with alfalfa sprouts and avocado) and The Original Dave (Italian sub). Worth the stop! Their Dave's sauce is interesting - very vinegar forward but it works. I really liked it! Employee was super hospitable and made sure we were satisfied with our order. I would recommend trying it out if you haven't.

Tried the buffalo chicken, Italian and the pasta salad for delivery. I'll be honest, the sammies were ok but not my favorite sub sandwiches that I've had. I have been waiting for a bit to try this spot and when I finally did I wasn't blown away. They were tasty but nothing incredibly special. There wasn't anything specific that I can point to as far as the order being subpar, it just really wasn't anything to write home about for me. I wouldn't discourage anyone from ordering from here, but I'm not sure that I'll do so again.

Worth braving the craziness of campus for a sub! This was my first visit so I went with the popular #1 Original, served hot (their version of an Italian). It was delicious! Great sauce, flavors, and bread--I will be back!

This is your prototypical college deli shop. There is tons of cool, throwback decor on the walls and they definitely have some hippie vibes -- from the logo to the colors. The menu style reminds me of an old walk up shop. I tried #4, titled "Dave's Far Out Chicken" which is a toasted sandwich of chicken, cheese, onions, hot peppers, hot sauce and Dave's cosmic sauce. The cosmic sauce is an Italian based dressing. The sandwich was good, but nothing super special. The bread was over toasted and way too crunchy that it took away from the sandwich. Overall, cool spot, but the sandwich was a bit of a disappointment.

Dave's cosmos subs started in Chagrin Falls, a suburb of Cleveland. Now it's a franchise and has locations all over Ohio but also some unexpected states like CA and VT. The Columbus location is on High St, right on Ohio State's campus. I can see why they expanded so quickly... the subs are delicious with sooo many protein options, and also offers flexibility if you have dietary restrictions like subbing in gluten free bread and lettuce wraps. I can't choose between these two subs -- the peace steak and the sloppy daves. Did splitsys with the husband and loved both. My biggest regret is not buying a bottle of cosmic sauce but will next time!!

Location: N High Street, Columbus Ohio Website: https://www.davescosmicsubs.com/ Menu: see website Hours: see website Parking: street parking, paid and paid parking lots within 1-2 blocks Service: excellent Thrilled to try this (new to me) location of the best sub shop in Ohio. Dave's Cosmic Subs succeeds with this storefront in the heart of OSU campus, creating the most amazing sandwiches anywhere. The only shift here is all sandwiches are available in one size. Don't fret - the sandwich is an 8" sandwich, very substantial and a great meal whether you are vegetarian, eat only chicken, want a hot sub, or the best cold sandwich you may ever have. I trialed my favorite sandwich - the #1, 'the original': Pepperoni, Genoa Salami, Prosciutto, Lettuce, Tomatoes, Sliced Banana Peppers, Onions, Fresh Garlic, Herbs, Provolone Cheese, smothered with Dave's Cosmic Sauce. Outstanding. I will admit I prefer it cold. Your call. You are welcome. The best sandwich you can buy for under $10. This beauty is $7.99. Magical. Can't make it there? Delivery via DoorDash or Uber Eats available.

#3 on the menu! Great version of a basic sub. Even better hot.

Subs are very good! So good I couldn't help but eat it right away. The cosmic sauce is delicious, even though they forgot an extra side. Service was great and friendly.

We ordered at the counter and our food was delivered to our table within minutes. The table was sticky when we sat down so we wiped it ourselves. They were having lots of turnover. Additionally, having had a Goodman's Deli mile high corned beef sandwich when I lived in Cleveland, I had even higher expectations. Their most popular sandwich is the Reuben so I went with that. Katzingers did not meet them. When I arrived to pick up my sandwich I was shocked the line wasn't out the door to place orders before they closed and the dining room had maybe 6 people in it. There were about 6 to go bags on the shelf along with mine. When I mentioned to the cashier that I was surprised it wasn't busier, she said it'll be busier tomorrow. I said the day after St Pat's? No answer. Another not good sign in my mind. When I got home, the wrapped sandwich was bigger than my hand but not very tall. The paper had areas of grease which is a good sign for this sandwich. The corned beef itself was tender but there wasn't as much of it, maybe an inch high and 1/3 of the bread had no corned beef. I also could not taste the thousand island dressing. The rye bread was toasted but pretty soggy. The crust was mostly crunchy. The bread slices were paired upside down putting a narrower side a larger side against each other. There is not enough sauerkraut and it is not very sour. I was given the choice of a dill or garlic pickle but I cannot tell you how it was because they didn't put it in the bag. I expected this sandwich to have so much meat in it, I could eat for multiple days for $18. Again, disappointed. Maybe I should've gotten the deli sized version but paying that much for a sandwich... The inside of the deli is fun and it's obvious it's been around a long time and has been well loved. I wanted to like Katzinger's but since the price and the quality don't match, I cannot.

Couple things worth noting: it's tucked inside a neighborhood bar on Indianola. Parking can be tricky but there's more around back and just down a bit closer to Savor. Inside the bar, just head to the back inside window to order. They have a menu with some notes and updates, also. Seems chicken sandwiches will be back soon which might be the thing I try next. Also, on Saturdays, you can order a pound of chicharron for $20. A bit about costs: I think it's a bit expensive. A single empanada is $5. There are price breaks for larger quantities ordered. Italian sub and double patty burgers are each $13. The Appolonia Italian is a decent size, but the buger, even with double patty, felt small. The service is super friendly! The quality of their offerings is much higher than average. Everything tasted really good, no notes. The spicy Italian is a bit spicier than I prefer with their version of a giardiniera on it, but Mr loved it. All in all, a generous 4. I'd get it again and recommend it with my notes so you know what to expect. (Sorry I forgot a pic of the burger)

However the real reason I wanted to stop here was for the Pork Belly Chicharron! I need to let you know these are some of the best. The box is huge and loaded full. I was super excited to have a few left over for later that night. Thet are getting ready to open an additional location soon, a stand alone and I can't wait to try the new location. The service made this experience memorable. The gentleman working asked me if it was my first time. He made some recommendations. They were out of corned beef for the #3 The Eiffel Tower so he substituted bacon for me instead. I liked that the buns are smooshed flat, the meat and cheese heated and melted, and then the additional toppings diced up into smaller pieces. I had about a 20 minute drive that could have made the difference, but once I started eating the sandwich it was good but aa bit chewy. It might have been less chewy if I would have ate it right away. I also ordered the specialty croissant. The staff person asked me if I was okay with the price, it was $8. I appreciated he let me know the price and made sure I still wanted it as it was a bit pricey. The croissant was amazing! This was also a food that was better ate day of. I had it the next morning for breakfast and although it was delicious you could tell it was getting stale already. It was beautifully made. It was my turn, dining alone but nothing about a table for one at Scotty's is lonely. The staff are immediately welcoming and every customer is every employee's charge. Four different people helped me or just checked in. The Gina breakfast combos have lots to offer for breakfast. But I was thrilled this 9:30 am to be assured the whole menu was available. I was looking for something less common and was excited to see potato latkes with sour cream and apple sauce as an option. That would have been great but then the waitress (Salome maybe) said, "Do you like corned beef?" The Schmoozer is 3 enormous latkes with thinly shaved and lightly grilled corn beef on top with an over easy egg atop that.
