I've lived in Fairfield for 8+ years and finally tried Dave's Giant Burgers... and I'm honestly confused why people hype this place up so much. The burger ($10 + $2 for bacon) was ridiculously greasy. It soaked through the paper bag and actually left grease stains on my leather seat after a 5-minute drive home. When I opened it, the burger was sitting in a pool of grease inside the wrapper. Taste? Completely average. Basic toppings, nothing special about the bun or patty--just bigger, not better. The caramel milkshake was also a letdown. It tasted like vanilla with caramel syrup sitting at the bottom instead of being blended. Definitely not what I expected. For a $20 meal, I'd much rather go to In-N-Out for better quality and value. Not terrible, but definitely not worth the hype--and I won't be back. read more

Came by on a Sunday at lunch with my boyfriend and there were a few people sitting inside (about 3 tables). We ordered to go and staff were friendly and quick. I opted for the medium rare cheeseburger, with raw and grilled onions, no mustard, with bacon. They also offered pickles and jalapeños on the side. For about $12 for the burger (big and juicy), it was definitely worth. I just wish they were open for longer. My boyfriend ordered his meat cooked like ground beef, which is insanity, but he said the pickles were his favorite. No fries on the menu, but will try chili next time! My partner & I live in Hawaii now but every time we come back to visit family we come here straight from the airport & usually visit multiple times while we're in the area. They keep it simple but delicious, the burgers are HUGE, cooked to your preferred wellness, and customizable with things like bacon or grilled onions. They have a ton of shake flavors that you can combine too (my fav is chocolate coconut and partner likes chocolate mocha). They don't have fries, but there's tots or potato chips. Got a cheeseburger and shake for I believe $13, i love that you can pretty much fully customize everything from toppings to how the burger is cooked. I personally love my meat well done, and this was perfectly juicy still. Not "burnt" or overly cooked type of well done. I came from Sacramento, and will fully return back. Burger -3.75/5 the Mayo was a touch sweet for me but I absolutely crushed it! Shake - 4/5 the only thing that would have made this a 5 is solid strawberries in the shake. I've lived in this area for 23 of the past 30 years. Dave's was a known institution well before I got here. Oddly enough, though, I'd probably only visited it three times before last week. I don't remember it tickling my fancy. After having a burger earlier in the week somewhere else, I decided to give Dave's another go. It was absolutely delicious. Got a Double Bacon Cheese with lettuce, tomato, and raw onion. They offer grilled onions as well, but I prefer a crunchy raw. Burger was cooked to perfection, and all the ingredients combined perfectly. I also got a malt milkshake and could believe how good that was as well. Good enough to visit just for a shake. Either way, I'm happy that I went back, and my only disappointment is not going more often over the years. Can't wait to return again! read more

You get to see your meal cooked right in front of you as you mesmerize over their large variety of shakes menu and smell the grilled onions getting a glaze before going on your burger of choice. You can get a regular burger, cheese burger or chilli cheeseburger. Some burgers are served open facet depending on what gets put on them. The grilled cheese is made on a round style of bread and their tots are cooked to a nice little crunch. Everything was just a perfect amount of portions and a good consistency on their shakes. Who's craving a juicy burger and a milkshake? If you're from Vallejo and familiar with Bud's, I recommend trying out Dave's in Fairfield! It has that same local burger joint vibe. I've gone twice and both times have not disappointed me. The burger can be messy but that's because of how saucy and juicy it is! Both time, Dario O. and I ordered a cheese burger with bacon, add grilled onions. The patty was seasoned just right. Not too salty, very flavorful. You even have a choice of how you want the meat cooked. Adding the bacon will be the best decision you ever make here when dining here, trust. Another thing you should do is order an extra patty! We haven't tried their tots yet, so I have nothing to say about that lol As for their shakes, I did try their pumpkin spice (this is probably a season one). The shake was thick but not overly thick where you have to wait a few mins to drink it. Whoever made the shake, knew what they were doing because it really tasted like pumpkin spice! So if you're a PS person + a milkshake person, please get this before this season is over! Location: They have a pretty good space for parking. There's a few seats inside and a nice outdoor area with a sink to wash your hands after, cos you're gonna need to lol Service: Good service. They have a good system to make sure all orders are taken and made in a timely matter. Lastly, they close early so keep an eye out on their hours. Might big talk...well- Dave's Giant Hamburger backed it up with great service and burgers. Very simple menu and even simpler way to place an order. The decor reminds me of the old burger joints of the past. The burgers were actually burgers and not the thin-meat kind you get at In & Out, etc. The cheese tater-tots were incredibly fresh and cheesy. The Chocolate shake was creamy and delicious. But I can deal with that. They were out of tator tots and the woman taking our order was rude as can be. Like she didn't want us there. Friendly, professional service every time and juicy tasty burgers cooked to order and assembled the exact way I like them, (cheeseburger, raw onion, medium cook, everything else standard).
