Haven't been here in so long since I am from CT. Their Avocado shake with boba is so delicious! It's hard to find a spot when you order a smoothie or boba tea that the pearls stay soft. I hate how some get hard and not enjoyable. Even after 30 minutes the boba was still soft. I give that a 10/10 and the service is good. I also grab some cold cut banh mi. Food was well made. Had three Banh Mei, the Bun Bo Hue Soup and Rice with freshly made marinated Pork. Place was cluttered but clean. The small space makes it difficult for supplies storage and they could organize it better, but I'll say they put that effort into the food instead. If you can get pass the clutter and location, the food will not disappoint. Very authentic food and lots of heart. This is a banh mi shop done right. I swung by Saturday morning for a banh mi and wanted to try something new. This place is near a fairly spacious parking lot and has a cozy mom and pop atmosphere. There's not a lot of seating inside, so it's heavily implied to get your stuff to go unless you're there for pho. The prices as of fall 2023 are more in line with other Vietnamese places in the area. Banh mis are 6-7, the pho is 11-13. The service was good, it's just an order at the counter and pick up as they make it. I'd come back again. Check them out. read more

This hole in the wall has some Vietnamese staples, with freshly made soups and sandwiches, but availability is hit or miss so call ahead if there's anything in particular you want. The spring rolls were HUGE and tasty and a deal for 2 for $4. The Banh Mi sandwiches were tasty but very crumbly and a little inconsistent as far as how heavy handed they are on the soy sauce. Decided to stop by the restaurant with my mom while we were in the area since it had such great reviews. We split the grilled beef banh mi, pho ga, and bun thit nuong (vermicelli with pork). Overall for about $20, I was very very satisfied with my food! 10/10 would definitely come back!! The banh mi was delicious! The meat was very flavorful, and portion was very big for $5. The pho ga was also a big portion and included lots of noodles, meat, thai basil, and bean sprouts. Flavor of the pho broth was mediocre but as expected for the price. The vermicelli with pork was delicious - lots of pork in the portion (see photo) and was very well marinated, lots of veggies, and overall very tasty. We were hoping to order some spring rolls but they were unfortunately out. If I were to come again, I also would consider calling ahead because I was there at 2pm (non-peak) and they were still very very busy fulfilling takeout orders. read more

Updated review: just avoid this place if you don't want to be served by rude staff. We went in for two smoothies: mango and coconut. The girl asked "separate or together?" Everyone assumes she's asking if the ORDERS are separate or together so we said together. Well, she's the most miserable person I've ever seen, why even work then? Just stay home. She charges us $5 for a smoothie that came out mixed as mango and coconut. When we explained we ordered one mango smoothie and one coconut smoothie, she just keeps arguing saying "NO. I ASKED YOU IS THIS SEPARATE OR TOGETHER?" Why would two people go in and order one mango smoothie and coconut smoothie expect one mixed smoothie? The dumbest fight I've ever had to encounter. She wouldn't even remake the mango smoothie. So if you have a tree nut allergy, good luck here. We took and and dumped it. Not what we asked for. Place is just dirty and customer service doesn't exist. Miserable people just fighting in the kitchen and fight with you. Don't bother. read more

I love finding hidden diamonds like this. N&P Saigon Subs is easy to miss as you drive by. It's in a block of storefronts where the signage style is identical for all businesses (that sort of low-key, uniform appearance Town Boards prefer...) Inside is a modest space about the size of any pizza/sub shop and it is just swimming in wonderful aromas of Vietnamese cuisine. I've made a note to go back next week to try the Bun Rieu soup ( a favorite I haven't had since leaving San Francisco). But today's trip was about the Bánh Mì. I was hankering for a wicked good sandwich. I got the Bánh Mì Heo Nuong (grilled pork) and it was dynamite. Perfect proportions of cucumber/herbs/pickles etc. and some of the best grilled pork I've had. A touch sweet, tender and peppery it makes you wish the sandwich was stuffed in a big roll of Heo Nuong... I only gave 4 stars because my bánh mì lacked jalapeños, or chiles of any kind. It could have been an oversight and I was home before noticing. On the other hand, shops like this frequently assume non-Asians don't like heat and just skip the peppers without asking. I decided to give this spot a try since it's down the street from us and it was such a bad decision. We ordered a cold cut sub, beef sub, and some egg rolls. The egg rolls were okay, not the best we had. The cold cut was so bland.. all I tasted was the mayonnaise. The beef sub was a bit better but still lacked so much flavor. The bread was so crispy and hard it hurt the roof of my mouth. After eating these subs, both my boyfriend and I had weird feelings on the roof of our mouths that took 4-6 days to get back to normal. We've never experienced something like this before and we eat viet subs pretty often from other local shops. The man who we believe is the owner was super efficient, but can be a bit rude. My boyfriend asked if they sold bang xeo and before he even got the word "xeo," out of his mouth the owner quickly said no and dismissed us and took the next customer.. we for sure didn't have the best experience here. If I'm hankering for some bahn mi, and I just so happen to be driving on 95 somewhere between Dedham and Braintree, I'll take that Route 28 exit to Randolph and find this hidden gem right off the highway. The bahn mi is likely best in the South Shore. The bread is fresh and has that crusty texture on the outside and soft inside. However, what this spot does that stands above the rest around (though there's not a ton of competition) is the freshness of the ingredients. The cilantro isn't limp and watery, while the cold cuts are at the right temperature and not off-putting. Prices are okay here and the service is quick. read more

Bun bo hue is really good even reheated at home a few hours later. Soup is really tasty, perfect spiciness and good amount of tender meat (looks like beef calf meat maybe?). Cold cut banh mi is aight. The place inside the Hai Lua Market next to Pho 89 I think is better. This place uses a white mayo which I've never seen before. While out running some errands in the rain yesterday my husband and I thought big bowls of hot and spicy pho would be perfect for a late lunch. The Yelp app led us to N&H Saigon Subs and we were not led astray. As most of us know by know, we shouldn't be put off by restaurants located in strip malls and this was no exception. N&H, named by using the first initials of the husband and wife owners, is small inside but with ample seating both at the counter or at tables and chairs around the perimeter of the room. The owners are charming and accommodating. Noting that I must have looked chilled given the raw weather outdoors, we were directed to a table right near the heating element. Perfect! The menu includes several varieties of Banh Mi, an assortment of pho, and some entrees like rice or noodles with beef, pork or chicken and some appetizers like shrimp, tofu, and spring rolls. There is Chicken Congee on the menu which I am determined to try on another visit. My husband and I each ordered big bowls of the Hue Spicy pho filled with pork, noodles, tofu and other delights in a delicious broth. It was really tasty and clearly good for what ails you which for my husband was the beginning of a scratchy throat that morning. The heat of the soup and the spiciness were very healing he said. We also ordered two banh mi...one with cold cuts and the other with grilled pork. I tasted both banh mi which were delicious but my favorite was the grilled pork. The prices here are almost insanely reasonable and I do suggest over-ordering as a result because I bet you too will want to take food home for later consumption. The bowl of soup was so big that I had a lot leftover and it was graciously transferred to a container for me. As well, there was an additional half of each banh mi that my husband had not finished and was also kindly packaged up to take with him. There are an assortment of smoothies and bubble teas with or without pearls or jelly for 3.25-4.00 dollars. There is water and soda too. We got bottles of water for just an additional 75 cents with the purchase of the banh mi. The kindness of the owners and their clear desire to make sure we were happy, comfortable and well-fed was so appreciated. The owners are the proud parents of two sons both of whom are in the US Marines, photos of which are hanging in the restaurant. This couple who came to the US from Vietnam have opened up a wonderful shop that they clearly take much pride in. As well, it's clear they've raised two amazing sons. We're excited to come back to N&H for more delicious food and to help support this terrific local business. read more

Small family owned restaurant! The food here is amazing. Unlike other vietnamese places full of msg, Phos here are homemade!!. So it's tasty enough and not as overwhelming as other Viet restaurants. The staff is friendly. We tried this place on a whim and have gone back several times since then. Sad to hear that they are closing for 5 weeks because they have a business trip to Vietnam. I just can't with this place anymore. Went to give it other shot. It felt so uncomfortable, like they have read my reviews, but haven't done anything to correct it. I ordered 2 banh mi, 4 eggrolls, and a coffee. I watched the person punch in every item. They attempt to charge me $27 for something that was $17. He only corrected himself after I said that doesn't sound right. The banh mi and eggrolls are still small and the banh mi is not fresh. I got food poisoning from them. I just cant recommend this place. Just make the extra drive to Dorchester or Quincy. read more

Little hole in the wall restaurant that has more than just Vietnamese subs but noodle dishes, vermicelli and fresh smoothies with real fruits not powdered. Girlfriend enjoyed her Bun Bo Hue (she was happy and said it was pretty authentic) while I enjoyed the Vermicelli dish which was typical nothing to rave about but wasn't disappointed. Sentimentality: If you long for the glory days of New Dong Khanh in Chinatown and want to support one of the most kind staff members who worked there, go to N&P Saigon Subs! Food: You know when food is made with love and care. You can see it in how carefully the fixings are arranged in the banh mi, and how well distributed the ingredients are in the fresh rolls. From the generous amount of mayo and patë on the banh mi to the scallions that artfully stick out of the fresh rolls, you just know they care and they want you to love the food. And boy, will you love the food. I bought try banh mi suspecting that it'd be amazing and I'm so glad I did because it brought me back to the glory days of banh mi in Chinatown. It's meaty, it's buttery, there's the unmistakeable presence of rich patë in every bite. It's all there. Drink: I got the sour sop smoothie and an Ovaltine smoothie because if I'm going to drive out for food, I'm going to load up. Both smoothies were delicious and the perfect balance of taste and crushed ice. Next time, I'm going to try the taro smoothie and the jackfruit smoothie! Inside: As I'm writing this in the time of COVID, masks are required. All the staff wear masks and gloves. There is a contactless payment option. There was no point in which I felt uncomfortable or unsafe. Pro Tip: Call ahead for your order for convenience but more importantly, everyone's safety. I'm so disappointed with my last 3 experiences at N&P. I always order by phone and I ALWAYS make sure that it is understood what I am asking for before I hang up. This is because I usually order several pork bánh mìs for my family. However, the last 3 times I've gone to pick up they've either made the wrong amount or none at all, and I've had to wait for them to prepare it properly.
