We have so many hot chicken places in the Sacramento area now, I can't keep track. And to be honest I wouldn't be able to tell most of them apart in a blind taste test - but they are all delicious! Dave's Hot Chicken was no different but what stood out to me was the service. From the person taking my order to the one who handed me food, they were all super nice and an example of how you should act when you are in the customer service industry. They even placed extra sauces and utensils in the bag without me even asking. I ordered the two-slider combo and a side of mac and cheese. Everything was so good. I hate pickles but I actually liked them with the sandwich. This was the first time I've seen a place that offers cheese with the hot chicken! It's an extra 50 cents but I thought it was a nice touch, who doesn't love cheese? And speaking of cheese the mac and cheese was very good and super cheesy (kinda reminded me of the one at KFC). I would definitely return here in the future. I'd lean towards going here before other places that don't have a drive thru. It was a bit of a wait considering I was the only one in the drive thru (about 5-6 min which isn't terrible but long for drive thru standards). But at least that meant everything was fresh! It was still warm by the time it made it home 30 mins away so I'm sure it would've tasted even better if dining in! read more

We always drive by this place but today we finally decided to try it out. We got their chicken nuggets and fries, orange cream slushy, & loaded fries? (I can't remember the name) .. The chicken was so flavorful and juicy ....Delicious!! The fries were also very tasteful! The slushy was also yummy!! I definitely want to try their milkshakes next! lol Service was also excellent! Highly recommend this. it can be challenging to go someplace. Great service. Fun ambiance. Loved my slider which was not slider size but def bigger. I had the medium but hot tasted tastier. Fries were delicious. Don't know if I care for the sauce. It was just salty? Reaper was a slow burnnnn but it was out in about 3 minutes. Need to sign a waiver. Jackson was working the night we wandered into Dave's. Jackson was the highlight of our visit. He greeted us warmly, asked if it was our first time there, gave us all the advice was needed to place our first order. Jackson smiled and was very personable. He even went above and beyond by bringing the food to our table. Jackson stayed busy while we were there, cleaning tables and making sure the place was in perfect condition for the guests that constantly flowed through the place. On top of the stellar service Jackson had already provided, he stopped by our table again to ask if we needed anything. We were delighted as he brought us more Dave's sauce and to-go containers. As for the food, I enjoyed it, the food was fresh, hot and tasty. The chicken was tender and moist. The fries were flavorful. I do question the costs of the chicken, its about $13 for two strips of chicken, 2 pieces of plain white bread and some fries. The strips are a decent size but in my opinion not worth $13. What a huge store! Lots of space throughout the restaurant and it has a drive thru! Max n Cheese - 7 - It looked plasticy but was actually pretty well flavored. One of the better fast food Mac n cheeses for sure Chicken Slider - 3 - Loved the kale slaw but it needed WAY more. Good sauce level and the bun was sooooooooo so salty It was truly inedible BUT the chicken was high quality and I was hungry. Needed to be a bit crispier as well. Chicken Tenders - 5 Pretty good with Dave's sauce but half of our tenders were soooooooo so so salty like the sliders but a couple were fine. French Fries - 9 - These were fantastic crinkled fries. It was perfectly salted BUT it was after having the chicken so my flavorators might have been off. Dave's sauce Medium spice level was a comfortable spice level that got my sinuses clearing. Hit was only slightly hotter (almost unnoticeable). Employees were nice and gave us all the Dave's sauce we needed. They had a 10% military discount which I love to see. I'll give this place a few months to get it together and try them again. I can't recommend them at this time. read more

Love it when a new spot opens up in our new neighborhood. The ambiance has a hip 90s vibe with the colors and graffiti-like art on the walls. It's very clean and spacious. Our service was spectacular; we were given a nice explanation of the menu options being our first time here. We got the spice level just 1 step down from the 1 you have to sign a waiver for. 2 other people were in the restaurant at the time and said their mouths were numb from it. We found it flavorful and the chicken was really tender. The blend of the soft buns and mayo made this really delicious. Even if you don't do spicy, I think it's still pretty yummy! read more

I recently visited the much-hyped Dave's Hot chicken for my first time and thought I would leave an initial review. I ordered the Dave's #2 with one hot slider and one medium served with French fries and no pickles. I was immediately impressed by the look of the chicken and knew that it was going to a a delight to bite into. I was impressed by the crispy crunch of the fried chicken batter and the chicken was juicy and succulent. Nice work on the chicken! The sliders are served with kale slaw and I was really looking forward to the pairing of crispy fried chicken with the crunch of the slaw. Sadly, though, there was hardly any slaw on my sliders and what was there was mostly purple cabbage with very little kale - a major disappointment. The fries were kind of droopy and missed the mark for me also. I went through the drive through so I can't comment on the ambience or anything about the inside of the establishment but the drive through service was exceptional and the guy who helped me was super nice and greeted me with a sincere smile. I will definitely be back and hope that next time I get a little more slaw on my slider! Also, I loved both the medium and the hot spice levels but next time I'm going with two hot sliders - the heat is really nice and does not overpower the senses (well mine at least) and it does not distract from the flavor of the chicken. Is it worth the hype? Well, this place is probably a little overhyped but I highly recommend giving Dave's Hot Chicken a try. read more

The aioli sauce that comes with it is on the side is pretty good, my only con is they should separate the kale slaw and put it on the side if you're not eating right away.
