I genuinely don't think better chicken sandwiches exist. This Culver Plaza location is very convenient with lots of available parking in the surrounding areas. The inside is very spacious with lots of seating options, vibrant with color, light, and unique graffitied art. I always order the #2 which is 2 sliders with lots of fries, pickles, and Dave's sauce. I also add cheese to my order. It is absolutely delicious. Their range on spice level is perfect for anybody with any spice tolerance level. The chicken sandwich itself is very flavorful and the pieces of chicken places in each sandwich is substantially large which makes it very filling. Each sandwich is not dry at all, decently sauce-y, but for those who like their food even more sauce-y, I find the included extra sauce in the #2 very convenient. I am also a pickle lover so the extra pickles are perfect for me! The only drawback about Dave's I can think of is that it is relatively pricey in comparison to other fast food. So I've been to Dave's on multiple occasions and I've loved the food. The chicken tenders would always live up to the first time of me trying it, back to when they only had locations in LA. Once they started to move their stores down south it felt like k honestly hit the jackpot. This location is the closest to me as of now, and they've never disappointed me. Their service is always top notch and their staff is friendly no matter how slammed they may be. I've also noticed that each Dave's restaurant has their own unique twist on the art they have displayed all over the walls. Some have album covers--or make-shift versions of them--while others have murals and street art all over, including the ceiling. The one thing that pushed me to really write this review today is the Dave Bites...yall, I was not READY. We all know Dave's for their tenders, but their chicken bites/nuggets are to die for. The meat somehow is juicier and the batter tastes even lighter and crispier than the regular batter, I don't know what they do different for the two, but both work and honestly the Dave Bites are my latest obsessions. Chicken was juicy and flavorful. The slider was a delightful combo of spicy with creamy slaw and sour pickle. Medium spicy is a little spicier than chick-fil-a's hot chicken sandwich. Would have liked a 1.5 tender to bun ratio in the slider. The tender breading was a little weird in texture: reminded me of a sausage casing for some reason (but this was not noticeable in the slider). Fries were tasty and a tad salty, but that's expected. It was no Hattie B's, but it was up there! Wait: 45 mins in drive thru (7-745pm on a Fri night) even with two cars ditching the line. I'm sure there were online orders etc, and it was a busy time to go. Staff was friendly, but appeared quite inefficient from my viewpoint through the drive-thru window (spent a solid 3-5 mins there). Extremely Disappointed - Not the Dave's I Used to Love. I used to love Dave's Hot Chicken and have visited many of their branches before, but this particular location was a huge disappointment. First, they charged me extra for cheese that I never received. When I asked for it, the staff simply brushed it off. The chicken itself didn't taste nearly as good as it usually does -- it lacked flavor and came in noticeably small pieces. Definitely not the quality I'm used to from Dave's. To make matters worse, the soda machine was terrible. The drinks weren't cold, there was no ice, and most of the soda options weren't even dispensing properly. It was more like flat flavored water. I've been seeing this place around in numerous cities that I've been to and decided to try it but through their drive-thru. There was no line and a employee at the drive thru took my order. I ordered the #1 which consisted of two chicken tenders, fries and two pieces of toast. You could select how mild to spicy you wanted the tenders to be for $11.99. At first, I thought it was quite pricy for just two chicken tenders, but when I got my order and opened it, the two tenders were quite large, almost making it equivalent to having four tenders. I will say it was quite delicious. I really didn't know what to expect since this was my first time. I'm not sure if this is something my family would enjoy. I'm always willing to try new places.
