WOW We had a 25+ minute ticket time, and by the time we finally got our food, about two-thirds of the order was ice cold. That was especially disappointing because I used to really enjoy this place back when I lived in California. After waiting around 30 minutes--and having to ask multiple times about our order while watching it just sit in the window--we finally received it. When I pointed out how unreasonable that wait was, I was told they were short staffed... despite there being around seven people working. It also made the whole experience worse watching groups of people who ordered after us get their food well before we did. It's hard to appreciate the ambiance when you're stuck waiting and watching that happen. Unfortunately, this will be our last visit. I don't know what's wrong with people in this town. You all can't keep a family owned restaurant in business, and when a fast food chain pops up - you all say "omg this place serves fast food!? Yuck! I'll be back soon!" That being said, I read some reviews, and while the guy who claimed he was peeped on while pooping was hilarious, most of the poor reviews were ridiculous. The chicken is pretty good dude. The batter is a little sweeter than I'd put together at home, but I'm not at home, I'm at Dave's house. I personally had a poor experience here. While the chicken was good, the french fries were served lukewarm/cold for my dine-in order. I sent feedback to the restaurant online and received a response that basically just said, "Thank you for letting us know." I love fried chicken and this joint serves up some really good stuff, made from scratch. I had forgotten that their chicken is "Halal Certified" and contains no forbidden ingredients (haram) like pork or alcohol. It's considered free from contamination and is prepared with specific methods of slaughter, offering a guarantee of religious compliance, often indicating the best hygiene and ethical standards. That said, let's dive into my tasting experience. Well, if you've been to one Dave's, you've been to them all, with over 300 in the US. I find their chicken tenders are quite tasty, very tender and moist. The coating isn't super heavy and it has a delicious crunchy texture. They can be ordered at 7 different spicy levels and the heat comes from Carolina Reaper peppers. I always order the mild to allow the savory, cumin-forward spice flavor profile, to dominate and not burn my palate. Today we shared the sliders (served on a fresh brioche bun with a little coleslaw and spicy pickles inside). We also got a 2-piece tenders basket (served with 2 slices of regular white bread?), both orders came with hot crispy crinkle fries and a dipping sauce on the side. The chicken wasn't dry at all which seems so rare anymore. We went to a local place that is suppose to do southern chicken and it was drier and not as flavorful as this. Received someone else's to-go order so had to wait for our order which was not correct and had to be sent back again. When the order was brought out it was sloppy and had a big blob of mayo on the top of the bun.The heat was accurate - slider just ok - fries are so salty they are inedible - they are nothing better than freezer fries you can make at home in an air fryer. I want to preface this by saying the service was excellent and they were all very nice and efficient. Unfortunately we got the brand new Dave's Big Trio and it was extremely lackluster. The bites and the sliders were much smaller than advertised, with one of my bites not having any chicken. The bread was a cheap attempt to add something to the meal. We ordered a flight of saucy bites with fries. The saucy bites came individually in their own containers that leaked all over the other containers and the inside of the bag, and ultimately the outside of the bag The bites (5) were small, literally a bite each and tasted OK although they were covered with the for-mentioned sauce. I do not recommend getting them to go. This problem could be easily solved by putting all the chicken in one container and putting the sauces in three separate containers with tight lids. This would also solve the problem of some of the sauces tasted terrible and yet there was no way to get it off the chicken. We ended up throwing them out. read more
