My boyfriend has been dying to try out Dave's so we drove over for lunch and it was just okay. We ordered a #3 to share with a side of Mac and cheese. I had very high hopes for their Mac and cheese because it looked so cheesy in photos. Sadly, I was disappointed. It wasn't terrible but it lacked flavor and was watery versus creamy. Anyways, we ordered the tender as medium and the slider as mild because we wanted to play it safe with the spice level. Personally my favorite was the slider because of the pickles. I like spicy but I don't LOVE it and the medium wasn't crazy spicy. It was very tolerable and I would probably order the sliders in medium next time. We went to the soft opening today and arrived around 3:30ish. It was about a 40 minute drive from where we are but we didn't mind. It wasn't too busy and the inside was really nice. The employees were very kind and helpful but the food just wasn't good. We ordered 2 sliders(mid) with fries and then 2 tenders(mild) on the side. The food came out FAST and it looked unbelievably good. Upon the first bite, the first thing we realized was the amount of sodium. It was so salty. I'm the type of person who salts my food before tasting because everything is always under salted. My husband and I were taken back by how salty the chicken was. The sandwich wasn't bad but it also wasn't good. The tenders we didn't eat because it was too salty and somehow still so bland.. it tasted off. My chicken felt undercooked and after a few hours, my stomach is being torn apart. All in all I wouldn't recommend this place. I wouldn't come here again. Upon entering it was pretty busy for 3pm! Thankfully it was the tail end of a rush so the food came out quickly and we got a table despite the extremely limited seating. I got 1 slider plus fries, they got 2 tenders plus fries. So the Hot chicken...is not so hot. At first its actually mild in my opinion. The heat does build over time. By the end of slider 1 I was almost breaking a head sweat. Almost! Now for me, 1 slider is plenty. These tenders are HUGE. And the slider comes with orange sauce, pickles, and kale slaw. Luckily, the kale slaw just added crunch and no kale flavor. Phew! Now if I had a big appetite, the 2nd slider would have built into some real heat and I'm sure I'd break a sweat. The medium was plenty for me. The chicken was more than ample in size, so crispy, juicy, and bursting with flavor. I added some honey on some and it took it to another level for me. Today I visited Dave's for the second time. Unfortunately, on my first visit I ordered "extra hot" tenders, not realizing this was the first place in history that actually meant it!! After the Orlando Fire Department put out the five-alarm blaze in my mouth, I was eager to give them another try. I went with medium heat this time and everything was excellent. Don't be discouraged by the fact that you only get two tenders with the order. Each tender is approximately the size of a small county so you'll still get full. The fries are a nice crinkle style and the Dave's sauce does a great job offsetting the spices. The only thing I didn't love was the untoasted white bread which came with the order. This reminded me of the plain bread ole' Aunt Gertrude uses to make peanut butter and fluff sandwiches. It would've served a better purpose here if toasted. Overall it's a great place. Fried hot chicken is all they have for entrees so if you're going with a group of friends, the "always gets a salad" person may not be too happy. With the whole "hot chicken" craze taking us by storm, I think Dave's has got it down! I've tried quite a few places and honestly I think Dave's is my favorite. The chicken is perfectly cooked and seasoned and I love the breading. A lot of places give you huge pieces like Dave's but unfortunately lots of that chicken is lost in the breading. Dave's has the PERFECT amount without sacrificing the crunch. I also really like their homemade sauce but I could definitely use more than one with my meal. I usually stick with the medium as it's just enough to be spicy without sacrificing the flavor. When we walked in, there was a ton of people waiting for their food and it was confusing because at first we didn't know if they were waiting to order? Or they already ordered? The menu is pretty basic. You can choose tenders or sliders. Either two tenders, two sliders, or one of each. They all come with fries and there is a list of sauces they can be cooked in. The slider, as one may assume, is just a tender in a bun with some basic slaw atop it. The food was really good. I stick with the mild and it went down easy, no sudden after burner effect. The tenders used were huge, the type where knife and fork come in handy. The fries were tasty. Typical crinkle cut fries, nothing fancy. Happily, the fries weren't soggy. Sogginess was a worry because the wait for the food was a really long time. I can't fault the restaurant for that, however. Every place is understaffed. This location is in a busy shopping center and near a major college- so, the crowd was expected. But even then, it seemed to take a bit longer than I expected. We were super excited to come here. The whole staff seemed more excited to stand around and talk to each other than to actually help anybody. We waited 30 minutes for our order. Staff kept looking over at us, confused why we were standing there, as if it wasn't obvious we were still waiting for our order. After multiple people came in, ordered, and received their food in the time we waited, we finally said something. They had put our food under the counter and just never called the number out at all?? It literally just sat there for 30 minutes. When I let them know we were still waiting for our order, they pulled it out from under the counter and handed it to us without even acknowledging what had just happened. The packaging of the food was terrible. It was a mess and had food all over the outside of it. Seems like everything was just thrown in there. At one point, there were 3 different staff members talking around the soda machine, so you couldn't even go up to fill your drink. Their method of clearing trash was dragging a giant half filled trash bag around the small seating area, which was kind of weird/gross too. Food wasn't bad; probably would have enjoyed it if it were fresh and more hot. The "hot" flavor wasn't very hot at all, which surprised me, but the overall flavor of everything was good and we would maybe just go up in hotness if we were to give it another chance. Found that there was a hot chicken near my area and wanted to give it a shot. I was being brave and daring today, so I was craving for their spiciest level chicken. Came on a Saturday afternoon and a friendly host took my order and showed me the levels. It went from mild all the way to reaper (if extra hot wasn't hot enough?) . Went for reaper and decided to do a vanilla milkshake as well. I was told I need to sign a waiver for the reaper level spice, which I did (hoping I don't regret this). My milkshake came immediately, while the slider came a couple minutes later. I took both of them home for me to save any embarrassment from the effects of eating the slider in public. The slider first looked like any good sandwich you get from a chicken sandwich restaurant. Nice piece of chicken with the perfect amount of breading. It was topped with a kale slaw and their special sauce. I first tasted the sauce feel near the container and felt some of the heat from the spices. I then knew to expect a nice kick. I took a bite of the chicken, and tasted all the spices and heat it gave. I was sweating and my nose started to drip. It was a tender and hot chicken. After eating half of the sandwich, the heat started kicking really hard. You can hear the sirens and bells (beedo beedo) going off and my mouth went on fire. I doused the milk shake and had another glass of milk to douse it off. But I didn't want to be a wimp, so I started eating the second half of it, while taking some breaks from the heat. After eating the whole thing, I was able to feel the intense heat for minutes. A couple napkins later, I felt better. When they asked me to sign the waiver, they were not kidding about the spice level! I could barely taste the shake, or anything else afterwards. I think I will be feeling the side effects tonight from this. Giving it 5 stars for exceeding my heat expectations from the slider, and the friendly service at the counter. Dave's hot chicken was worth the hype! I got the #1, which included 2 tenders, fries, pickles, 2 slices of toast, and Dave's sauce. You're able to do two different spice levels for each tender, which I wasn't aware of, but nice to know for the future! I played it safe and got medium heat, which wasn't spicy at all tbh, definitely going to kick it up a notch next time. The "spicy-ness" of the tenders is like a dry rub so definitely a lighter spice to it in my opinion. I would definitely recommend adding some of the honey they provide to the tenders because it was a nice touch. Place was pretty packed on Memorial Day, but the flow of the line and wait time of food wasn't bad at all. Will definitely be back.. maybe to try the reaper haha! read more

I chose hot for my flavor. Ok if you want heat chose the next two above hot. It had great flavor and not to much heat, they wasn't saucy. What I liked was the breading didn't fall off like some of the other chicken places. Served on 2 slices of bread with pickles. It came with Dave's sauce (mayo & ketchup), packets of honey and ketchup. If you want more tenders they do sell them by the piece. The fries were crinkle cut with a tab bit of seasoning, they was ok.
