Went for first time. To start, I was very surprised they didn't have a drive-through, but I can see where that parking lot doesn't really lend itself to one. But that does mean you need to get out of your car and go in an order. When I went at 11:45 on a weekday the line was long, like at the door long. So I saw their online pick up sign and decided I was going to order online and then track to see if I really was a smart as I thought I was. The answer is yes, I am as smart as I think I am. I had my food before the people who were four ahead of me in line, and probably could have grabbed it even sooner - the on line feature told me it would be ready in 20 minutes, I asked at 10 and it was already sitting there. All food is packed to go whether you're eating in or not so there really is no benefit in waiting to order when you get there. Plus their online ordering system was super easy to use. I got the two tender option and on line it even lets you order each tender as its own spice level, which is nice. The tenders are nice size, perfectly breaded, great flavor. The crinkle cut fries are also great. The reason for four stars instead of five (in addition to only having one register open) was the bread. It's untoasted plain thin white bread. Soooo I finally stopped by Dave's Hot Chicken to see what the hype was all about and discovered that yes the chicken is "hot". I got the extra hot because I wanted the spice and didn't want to sign the waiver they supposedly had for the "reaper" LOL.. the first thing I noticed was the service was really good the workers were super polite one worker liked my hair so much she asked me to do her hair hahaha!! I ordered the 2 tender basket with fries the pickles and bread. Now I would say the seasoning tastes like Lawry's seasoning salt with extra kicked up cayenne pepper in it. That same seasoning was on every thing the fries and chicken. I did like the flavor and the dipping sauce that came with my meal, but it was a bit salty for me. The chicken was tender and juicy and had a decent size to it the fries were lukewarm. Now as for the atmosphere it was pretty cool the exterior had a cool look and the inside was groovy as well. My food came to around $13 and I think it should've been $8 or $10. Also that meal didn't come with a drink, so I skipped it since I already had water. I asked if they had any special signature drinks that could try but they didn't have any just the basics. Would I go back likely not because I don't think I got enough bang for my buck. First Time Customer and If I could give it less stars I would. This place was awful. We were the only other customers in the restrautant other than a couple who were finishing their meal. Food was overpriced and the atmosphere is grungy and not because its the esthetic. It took 25 minutes to get our order. The ticket on our order said it was done 5 min before we received it which was wrong as we watched it go in the window. Food was awful except the mac n cheese, which was a heat and serve so not a plus for this restaurant. Let me first start with the positive. The food is delicious. I had the two sliders with french fries. The pickles are great. Here's the negative. I agree with everybody else. I was there 18 minutes waiting for two sliders at three in the afternoon. It was not even busy seriously it took over 20 minutes to get my food and the only reason I got it was because I asked the manager what was going on. The food is really good but if you are ordering online it's a different experience. I have ordered online twice and had two different experiences not bad. Tonight I waited 30 minutes extra and ended up with an order that had a bunch of things that weren't mine. The only way to address the issue is to just go back in. You could call them but doesn't mean they will pick up, they try to get you to submit online. I told the guy who works there i ordered at 6:30 and the online receipt said -arrive at 7:20. I arrive at 7:22 and he said the order hadn't been started and that he doesn't know why I showed up. I'm like, that's weird your system says 7:20. I then left for 25 minutes and returned. Well dang. I was pleasantly surprised at how good it was. The first time driving by the line was wrapped around the building-assuming it was the grand opening. Few weeks later we stopped in and my gawd. Definitely better than the other chicken fries, and bread joint here...you know what I'm talking about. It's a cool spot to enjoy a bite and seems like there is plenty of space. The only thing is like ...why no ranch? Kinda hard to mess up a spicy chicken sandwich, right? The service was pleasant and quick, which was great because I was dreading long lines. Let me start off by saying WOW !!!! We have never had Daves Hot Chicken before but when they announced their opening. Everyone was raving about them so we had to try. Today was finally that day since we were in town and mmyyy goooosshh. No exaggeration this was some of the best chicken tenders I have ever had! They have a nice crunch to it ( they aren't the crunchiest but it does not take away from their yummy goodness) The chicken is seriously so tender and juicy! I cried happy tears! Like what the heck Dave you really did your thanng with this! They have multiple levels of heat from light mild all the way to ghost peppers. The tender comes with a piece of regular bread but if it was a Texas Toast like Raising Canes it would make it better. The batter is seriously so good that I am blown away and the purple/red cabbage thats in the sandwhich compliments it very well. I was expecting like Zaxby type crunch but nope! Even better... You ever had food so good it makes you cry?? Very rare but dang Daves Hot chicken did it! Love their fries with the seasoning. The medium had a slight kick and if you love hot the hot will feel like a small kick so I would recommend going hotter. It also comes with pickles on the side and you have the option to add cheese. I never thought I would love another chicken sauce more than Raising Canes but dang it Dave did it again. I understand why they are always busy now and the lines are long! Well worth it but even with the long lines the staff gets em down quickly and the orders the same. Its worth the wait. I noticed the staff rotating cleaning the lobby to maintain cleanliness and the art on the walls are an awesome touch. If you are in town definitely give them a try. I finally found it! The fast food chicken of my dreams. I have been looking for this for a long time. I had high hopes for Canes but it was so bland, no spices at all. I like my chicken with a good spicy bite & Dave's delivers deliciously! The chicken was juicy & flavorful, just the way I want. The french fries are cooked exactly as I like them, tender - not crunchy/overcooked as is so common. The bread was just bread, nothing special but that's not really important to me. Because we, unknowingly, dined at the Costco Dr. location on opening day it was packed with customers & food service was slow as a result. But hopefully orders will move quicker once they have normal daily attendance. Service is typical counter order, pick up by number. Went there today for lunch around 145pm and there was no line at all and plenty of seats inside. I got the #3 hot, shoulda went for the extra hot because the hot wasn't hot at all. Chicken was hot, fresh, crispy and perfectly seasoned and so was the fries and unlike Raising Cane's you can ask for extra Dave's sauce with no additional charge and don't forget the honey to drizzle over the chicken. The chicken was perfect. My son had the hot chicken and he loved it so much and he doesn't love anything. I had the no spice and it was fabulous the best chicken in Tucson. Yes, it was on a slider, but the chicken was twice as big as the tiny slider bun and my husband had the mild and it was fabulous too. First time going here and had to wait over 20 min for 2 tenders and fries. Place is very poorly managed and a bunch of 20 year olds working there all took a break at the same time. The good news is my and were hot once I did get them. I like the seasoning on the fries. The chicken tenders were big pieces and juicy. The seasoning on it was good but a bit weird, the curry powder flavor really was strong. Tasted more like Indian food than hot chicken. Mac and cheese is ok, but honestly better than most restaurants. The pasta still had some integrity to it. Seems like most restaurants get old and soggy. They provide a range of heat we had mild and hot. Nothing too spicy honestly, I could probably go a step higher next time. Pretty simple menu sliders or strips. Not sure if there is a difference besides the bread because there was mess up with our order. I wasn't overcharged so 4 sliders is better than what we ordered. Just went today and for it being new the wait wasn't too bad.. the inside is really nice and love the graphics/graffiti on the wall. The server was very pleasant and helpful with ordering as well. I got the strip and slider extra hot with an additional tender; the only thing I have an issue with is drinks could've came with the meal that cost dang near $20-just saying it could've came with a drink but the food nonetheless is good with a nice spice. We ate at Dave's in the afternoon when the lunch rush was over. Our booth still had sauce spills on the table but no trash like the others around it. For food we ordered a slider combo and the cauliflower "not chicken" nuggets. The combo comes with sauce and fries in a black styro box. Our sandwiches were just tossed in the box, and one had "slid" over spilling the toppings -- quite a mess. The food was hot and freshly made. Flavor wise, nothing was awful, in fact it all tasted the same. The chicken, the fries, the cauli bites, everything was seasoned with the same spice mix. Dave's kale coleslaw and the pickle slices were the only things that added any flavor differences. Their crinkle cut fries were dry and mealy. This was our first visit and I'm not sure why I'd want to go back. Tucson has many fast food outlets that serve much tastier fare at lower prices. read more

I honestly don't get the hype. My son and I tried this place today, waiting in line for about 15 minutes to order. Our order came out in about 10 minutes which was pretty good given how busy it was. The chicken was fairly tasty, but pretty greasy. I ordered a Kale Coleslaw for a side for $3.49 and got a half filled container (see pic). The fries were good.
