Daves marine shop is #1 in SoCal. I have this important trip to go to and Dave made it happen. My boat sat for three years then I try to start it and it wouldn't start. We took our boat to Dave's Marine in June of 2016 to have the motor pulled so it could be rebuilt. Once that was done, Dave and his crew put the motor back in, aligned it, and reinstalled the drive. A few weeks later, we took the boat to Lake Powell for a week and everything seemed to be working great. A year later, we took the boat to Lake Tahoe and shortly after we launched, the gimbal bearing failed. What a major heartbreak! Our vacation was lost before it even started. When we got back home, we pulled the drive and saw that the drive seal was not in place. Water had entered the boat through this seal and sat there all year long, rusting out the bearing. So we went back to Dave and showed him our video of the drive removal and photos of the rusted bearing, u-joints and misplaced seal. Even though we were way past his normal repair warranty, Dave took care of us, and we will be back on the water soon. We recommend Dave's Marine for standing by their work and resolving our issue in a satisfactory manner. read more

You and your receptionist lied to me. You said I spoke with you. I never spoke with you. She asked me if I was in a hurry for you to look at my boat. I told her there was no hurry. Told her also we would be on vacation. You did not notify by mail or phone You had the wrong phone number. I had spoken with her 5 times left my number each time. I never would have towed my boat to you without her telling me to bring it in. All you were supposed to do was assess it and do a tune up. It's not the customers fault if you and your receptionist Carrie don't communicate. That's on you. To yell and scream and call me names and assume that I was leaving my boat there is ridiculous. I found Dave's Marine on Yelp, and I'm happy that I did. Dave's a personable guy who looks out for the best interest of his clients. He did a complete service on my '06 Ebbtide, and found some issues that needed to be addressed. He contacted and communicated with me regarding his findings, and he asked if I wanted to fix the issues before he proceeded. He did a complete walk through of the boat to find any hidden issues like lights, switches, batteries, etc. He also noticed that my trailer tires were shot, which is a huge safety risk that needed to be fixed. When I came to pick up my boat, he showed me all the old parts that were replaced. His staff is super cool, helpful, and pleasant to deal with as well. I feel comfortable with having him or his crew work on my boat, and, as I told Dave, I will definitely be a returning customer, and I recommend others check him out too. read more

I needed my boat serviced before a holiday and these guys were able to not only make it happen but exceed my expectations . I just received a message from Dave that the damage was previous & due to rocks. I took it to another repair place & THEY said that the guard WAS NOT put on correctly! This is evidenced also by having to take it back the 2nd time. Also...take a GOOD look at the photos...OBVIOUSLY Dave tore it up extra! I reported him to BBB so just please be aware of his practices. He is a bully & has no customer service ethics. Also...why is it that he had the boat in there for a week and didn't do anything? This was AFTER I made an appointment a week and a half earlier? I'm looking for an outboard mechanic to repair a small 1980 Chrysler two-stroke outboard motor my grandson purchased. I read some good reviews on this Dave's place and figure I'll take him the motor and have him repair the manual starter recoil, that was not recoiling. A small job, I know. So I just called Dave's and I told a woman the problem. She said they didn't work on old motors. (?) I asked her why, and she said because it takes 3-5 days for them to get parts. I said I'm willing to wait. Then she says they work by appointment and the wait is 2-3 months. They didn't need or want my business. I guess the job was just too small for them. No concern for a customer. A lost customer. So much for good reviews. If I were you, I'd go elsewhere. read more

Would not take our boat anywhere else!! We had taken our pontoon to a number of boat shops over the last few years before we found Dave. They charged us a lot, replaced parts, and never fixed the ongoing stalling problem. Dave was fairly sure of the problem just by the description, used his dyno to back it up, and showed us the defective part he replaced. He is AWESOME! ****A W E S O M E****. I Found Dave's Marine on-line (does the yellow pages even exist anymore?) and I'm so glad I did. These guys clearly know what they're doing. First, when I called, Dave answered and knew exactly what I was talking about when I described my boat's issue. He quoted me a price immediately and when I arrived a week later and described the same problem, without mentioning my previous call, I was SHOCKED to find the price matched the original quote (to the dollar.....#Honesty). I was there at opening (they were actually there at the shops opening time.....#Responsible) and was told to give them a couple days (this was after they offered to install another part for part price only since they were already going to be working in that area of the engine (very cool....#Efficient). Six hours later, they called and said it was ready for pick-up. I paid, they supplied me with the old parts, gave me some good advice, hooked her up, and I was gone. Dave's Marine is awesome. Thankfully, they are 15 minutes away from home, hopefully they're that close for you, cause this shop is awesome. read more

Have taken it back and forth almost 10 times and still we have the same problem. I have a 1990 bayliner Capri with and inboard/outboard OMC cobra.
