First off, I want to apologize to anyone that I've called a liar when they said Dave's was in Cumberland. I thought they meant the Smithfield location. Anyways, this location is way better than any other Dave's in the state because it is small and it is not as crowded even though customers will still manage to continuing crawling all over you in the aisles. They may not have wide aisles or functional parking lot, but they make up for it with there prepared food section. I am literally never cooking ever again. read more

Went there 2/22/26 around 12:00 (noon). Ordered a tomato, cheese, and bacon panini heated. Ate it in the car and it was cold in the middle. Two hours later I was throwing it up. Having felt completely fine the whole week before, clearly it was bad. I don't understand how you can sell bad food. I worked in food service for years and no-one ever got sick. This place is a hidden gem. I was pretty impressed. A lot of great prepared foods and plenty of variety to choose from. It's like a cheaper version of Wegman's which is welcoming considering prepared foods can be pricey. Also it's not too crazy crowded like Market Basket. Definitely worth visiting. read more

For me, it's nice going to a store any type of store and not having to get a rain check to come home with and then having to go back a second time. They've always has everything that is on sale in the store. I've never gotten a rain check from them and I'll be as I've shopped there. Everything is clean fresh well-maintained. The service workers are really wonderful. They help you to find everything you need and even walk back sometimes and cook things for you. I never had a hotdog so once when I went, there i was talking about the hotdog the guy that was actually one of the owners was behind the counter working in the Cumberland store and he went outback and cooked me one of their hotdog And brought it out to me like, how much is this no, no he goes I want you to try it if you like it then just buy more. They have a commissary down in southern Rhode Island where they make all of their salads for the deli as well as all of their meals that they make fresh and homemade and then package them for one or two people, and placed them in their stores. Our favorites are actually the chicken croquettes. They're big but they're so delicious like one is a serving. Also, some of this was they recently started having a markdown produce rack which really I see helps a lot of the people who can't afford to pay full price of those. It needs to have some fresh vegetables like seniors feel able to afford to get something nice. They've also put in some of their stores released the ones that I go to. They also have a freezer case in the store somewhere with a put their premade meals that are at the end of the date or close to it. They freeze them and then you can go ahead and check out you at dinner like you can take meatloaf in like half price you may be able to take home chicken pot pies like four dollars feels like Four people etc. they really made a lot of good changes and modified a lot of things read more

I have to split this review down the middle. The quality of produce, the bakery, the prepared food are all 5/5 amazing. They're very expensive, about 20% more than a chain like S and S or Shaw's which can be disheartening now a days. I wish they had a frequent shopper program or points program! And what's really bad, is this stores particular layout. It's so hard to get around and you're constantly getting in other peoples way. It's actually insanely frustrating and leaves me angry for quite a bit after every trip. I feel like I'm taking up so much space and therefore rushed and can't look around. read more

THIS PLACE COST ME $1200. I picked up a pre ordered pizza for my sister. When I handed my debit card to the guy working behind the counter he refused my payment and said it was all set. So I assumed my sister had already paid for it since it was pre ordered. Fast forward two months later I get pulled over and arrested for SHOPLIFTING A PIZZA.. (when they had my sisters information to call her and tell her about the mix up before calling the police). Anyway I had to pay a lawyer $1200 to get it dismissed. If anything they should arrest their worker for telling a customer something was paid for when it wasn't. Worst place ever. Worst customer service. Terrible. My family used to purchase their pizzas for all events. Never again. What a joke. read more

Take out food Friday 4/20. Fish and chips were restaurant quality! Just delicious with what I call beer battered fish. I'd say cod but not sure. Well, I think the variety is fantastic. A lot of brands. You will not see any other mainstream supermarkets and they employ quite a few people in every show so there's always someone help you get a chance. You should certainly stop by and check out this unique supermarket cute props such as above the bakery area they have it look like an old school, bakery and so forth props. For every department. Nice little market. They have good meats and their fish market is great. Their pizza is also one of the best you can get in the area. Prices are higher than most grocery stores but they have decent sales. My one complaint is their prepared food, like the chicken dishes, and items in the case that are also prepackaged in the fridge area. They're expensive and they're really not good at ALL. Most recently we tried the general tsos chicken against our better judgement. A great sauce, but the chicken was hard and gross, and it was $9 right into the trash. The precooked grilled chicken is also hard and gross. It would be great if they could step up their game with the prepared foods! read more

LOVE going to Dave's for seafood! We go here almost exclusively for it!! They offer a lot of variety and good promotions every now and then. I've made so many meals with their seafood....anything from homemade fried calamari, buttery scallops, salmon over salad and so much more! Every now and then we will buy some lamb ribs, ribeyes or shaved steak...but not often because I prefer angus and they don't offer it. Anyway, still the seafood is great and they have a large prepared foods section as well as fresh fruit and veg! The zucchini here are some of the best I have found. You can also find more international cheese options than at your other local supermarkets I think. Prices are reasonable, staff is friendly and store is clean. read more

This Dave's Marketplace isn't a large location like their other store in Smithfield, but it is still packed with all you need, and they have a really nice selection of prepared meals. This location is popular with the lunch crowd, they have a couple food bars, sandwiches and even sushi available daily. There is a seating area within the store, if you chose to eat in. Parking lot is a little tight, and it can be a little tricky getting in and out as there's always a lot of traffic to negotiate. read more

This is a great grocery store. You can pick from your regular grocery store items but what really makes this place special are their prepared foods! They are excellent and fairly priced. I also love their pizza! It's nothing too fancy but one pizza can feed a family of 4 and it's delicious. The store is always clean and the staff is always pleasant. read more

The selection. They always seem to have what I want, need, and crave. My part of the store is the right 1/4 of the store. (Produce, bakery, ready made refrigerated meals, wing bar, fresh pizza!!) Fresh FRESH produce, some local which is great. The bakery. YUM! Sweet treats for groups and individual servings which is great for sampling and with little to no waste. The breads and PRETZEL ROLLS! Yes, pretzel rolls all year long. They have Maine made Whoopie Pies - Steve's of Skowhegan. They are not healthy, but man, are they GOOD! They have chocolate, maple, red velvet most of the time. The cheese selection is decent, although not vast. What makes it decent is they have cheese from local farms like, Narragansett Creamery (RI) and Pineland Farms (ME). They have local meats, like Saugies and Central Falls Kielbasa. YUM! Downsides of this store/location. Location - It's a busy plaza off of a busy street. Size - The store is small and the aisles are narrow. The checkout area is very small, but they usually have enough lanes open and the cashiers are fast, so the wait isn't usually too long. This is not my normal store for grocery shopping but it is worth the trip to Dave's if you want any of the tasty unique items they offer. Dave's is A-OK with me :) read more

I stopped in this Daves for some groceries yesterday and I was pleased with my experience. It wasn't amazing but it wasn't bad. I will probably come back if I am in the Cumberland area. The prices are a little bit higher than a Shaws or Stop and Shop, however, I did get some awesome deals on chicken and pork yesterday. The free coffee is a good touch too. However, let me refine this, the free, GOOD, coffee. The coffee is really smooth. I like how they actually serve quality coffee. My only gripe with this store is the aisle sizes. It felt so cramped. It was difficult to move my carriage around because it was a busy Sunday. read more

I'm rather upset with the quality of Dave's Markets meat. Last week I had to return over $30 of meat that turned before the sell by date. Typically I wouldn't return meat but at this price tag it was necessary. Fast forward to today, my SO went in for wings and tips. He asked the butcher for assistance. The meat in the cooler was all sell by date of yesterday. The butcher was rude and threw packages of old ass meat in his basket and said here take this your fine. We put the meat right on the counter and left. Our business is now going to Michaels meats. The price tag is a little more expensive but the quality and friendliness is worth the extra. Plus no more trips to return stank meat and no more throwin money in the garbage every week. Update*** Sister in law goes in over the weekend and purchases racks of ribs. Brings them home to cook same day. Opening packages finds that one package is rank. Had to bring it back. Management needs to bring attention to this matter. Someone is going to get sick. read more

Best food in town! Everything is always fresh. They have a hot bar, a salad bar, a soup bar and fresh made pizza. You can get fully cooked dinners that you can just reheat at home. Pastries, bread and rolls made fresh daily. Muffins are better than Dunkin (which is in the same parking lot). Fruits and vegetables are fresh and always in plentiful supply. read more

I've always been a Stop and Shop kinda guy just because they're everywhere. They're more convenient just because no matter where you are, there's one nearby. But their produce section has always been pretty subpar and I've just had too many instances of their meat going bad within a couple of days of buying it. So recently we decided to switch. Because of Dave's reputation of being a little pricey we made a trip to S&S to buy our cereals, frozen foods, canned goods, and such. We figured we'd go to Dave's to get our meat and produce. I brougth my S&S receipt with me to check the prices and I was surprised with how comparable Dave's was. There were a few items that Dave's was more expensive, but most of the prices were within pennies of eachother. It was hardly even worth making trips to two different stores. The meat and produce is a little more expensive, but boy is it worth it. We just finished off one of the best Sunday dinners we've had in a long time thanks to a high quality sirloin roast (at only $4 a pound). The meat we've picked up there has been top notch and the produce always fresh. They also sell a lot of local products and with buying local being all the rage, that's a big plus. Dave's prepared food section is usually a big draw for me. Whenever I'm in Warwick, North Kingstown, or East Greenwich I like to stop at one of their locations for lunch. If there is a knock on the Cumberland location it's that their prepared foods section doesn't compare to the others. The hot foods section typically doesn't have a lot of selection and I don't believe they have a salad bar (I could be wrong and I'll have to double check next time I go in, but I don't think they have one). But that's a small knock on a place that I'll gladly keep returning to for my groceries. read more

(of course we can) *Parking is easy-peesy, but easier to enter the lot from the North-bound bit of 114 *Well-kept aisles (and without that pesky fluorescent lighting). Very neat and clean. *Pre-made food section is modest but QUALITY. I highly recommend the Mango Bread Pudding (.....I could eat a vat). A teensy bakery section, but the Heath Bar cookies (2 = $2) were all I needed, anyway. Though you may purchase your lunch here....there is no where to consume said delicious food items (I wish there were a couple of booths/tables!) *Produce is kept up nicely (I saw no decaying fruit or veg) *Seller of hard-to-find wonders: Nettie's Kettle Corn (a Rhody must!), Dundee Marmalade (NO-ONE sells this!), Siggi's yogurt *Prices.....ehh, close to Whole Foods. Pricier than Stop&Shop on the finer things, yet reasonable on the generic necessities. The check-out lines aren't terrible and the service is small-town friendly. If I lived in Cumberland, this would be my go-to to satisfy rich-flavor cravings. Alas, I will have to resort to pilgrimaging here for Nettie's (.....and the bakery). read more

Who doesn't love Rhode Island's own Dave's Marketplace? I can walk into any Dave's location and expect to run into ten people I know. It's a state staple. And the food ain't so bad either. There's an ease to shopping at Dave's. It's smaller than the mega grocery stores like Stop&Shop (and seriously, why is each one laid completely differently?) and cheaper than Whole Foods. Sure, Dave's isn't as hip as WF but it has its own charm. I like the variety of local, natural and gluten-free foods (they've added to this selection). The prepared foods and pizza are amazing! The butcher shop and seafood are some of the best! (Seriously, the seafood is cheap and fresh). And every location is super clean and friendly. read more

Dave's is a great super market they have things you just can't find any where. On most occasions they are a little bit more expensive, these days their produce is less than at Stop and Shop. The bakery here has great cakes and muffins. The deli also has great "home made" items. Felt leery but I heard the sushi here was good, I tried it out and it was good (not great but a quick way to settle a craving). The staff are mostly young high school kids that are respectful and helpful. read more

This must be an older store judging by the set-up and the register area. It does not seem like this store is really on top of things, their ground beef looks bad, they also had a sale on whole chickens this store did not have any (they did not run out, I asked somebody and they just did not have any). They do have the same sales as the other stores its just the quality or management thats all wrong. I spotted a few yogurts they had on sale with a expiration date of tomorrow, I found that a bit strange. Its a shame I will be driving to the Smithfield store even though this one is closer. You might have driven by this location a few times, I had to really look for it because its far back from the road. If you don't know its there don't go looking for it keep driving. They still get two stars because they have some really good sales like pork chops for 1.99 a pound and save 4 dollars on frozen pizza (a college kid's staple, I bought 4 lol). If you know where to look you can find some good deals. read more

This is the worst Dave's , well they all seem to be run with idiots in charged. Recently picked up some bad very bad humus and they refused to exchange or refund. Note Dave's is the only place that sells this humus. This would not happen in a union market. Under paid employees doing half the job. Stay away boycott! I love Dave's. The locally-owned store is always very clean and organized, the staff are top-notch and the food quality is superb. Dave's makes a lot of bakery, deli and ready-made items in the store. Anything from stuffed clams, shepard's pie, hamburger buns, muffins to a hot and cold bar. They also sell high quality meats and fish and grind their own hamburger daily. The store isn't huge but it has everything you want in a market as well as other items that you'd find at health-food stores like organic products. The prices are average- maybe slightly higher on some items but they always have very good sales (especially on meats and produce.) read more

Great market. Reasonable pricing, hot fresh food available, great organic selection in produce. It is not some oversized Stop&Shop but it has all the essentials and more. It's always clean, the employees are nice and helpful. They even have car carriages- a police car and a fire engine so my daughter prefers this market over others so she can be a hero while I get the shopping done! I Best yet is they give back to the community since they're locally based. I know this personally as they donated a generous food basket to a silent auction for Rhode Home Rescue I was helping organize. Great management makes me enjoy shopping there all the more! read more

Love Dave's. l always feel so welcome and at home here. Its cozy and inviting. Although it is a little crammed. Its locally owned and its a nice feeling supporting the little guy. I live on the east side of Providence and I wish we had a Dave's. Instead we have an over priced EastSide market. Dave's prices are reasonable. Don't expect crazy bargains but do expect local, fresh and a real marketplace feeling. If you have kids they will be entertained by the decor around the store. Lots to look ate. I hope the locals around here know how lucky they are to have Dave's! It's clean, always well stocked, friendly and helpful staff, with a nice healthy variety of foods prepared at the deli. It's a perfect mix between a Publix (from the south) and Whole Foods, without the price tag. Oh, and free coffee!!! Only con is that the toiletries are somewhat limited so one stop shopping is a no go, but for fresh produce and meats, this is by far the best local supermarket. Free coffee while I shop? Awesome. Really good coffee at that, medium roast. I've heard people say they love Daves but this was my first time going into one. I think I found a new grocery store. I'm so dissapointed I did not go here sooner after living nearby for 2 years, for shame. All that time wasted at the local mediocre Stop n Shop. I prefer smaller stores like this and it has more charm than the bigger generic stores. I didn't find it all that pricey, good sales like any other store. I like that they carry many local and natural brands. I did not try any of the prepared foods but they did look pretty good. Coffee selections are great. They carry a local brand called Mills. I got myself some Smores flavored coffee, fresh ground in the store. Nothing better than that. The aisles here are pretty narrow so I highly recommend getting one of those mini carts if you can get away with it, and maybe shopping at non peak times. read more
