Solid fried food. Very good sized portions. I split the 3 piece chicken tenders and fries with my 5 year old daughter and it was plenty of food. The Chicken was actually really tender. I should give the chicken 4 stars. They did a good job. Also got the onion rings. They were good - maybe a bit too oily (and pretty expensive for the number I got). My husband enjoyed his burger My 18 month old went to town on the fries and ranch. So yeah, everyone was happy. A little bit of outdoor seating, pretty much no indoor seating. This used to be one of our favorite spots for dinner 2x a month, the hand pressed fresh hamburger just melted in your mouth. Now I call to ask if the meat is hand pressed patty or frozen patty, we had a few occasions they used a frozen/fresh pre-packaged patty and our family doesn't eat that type of meat. Nothing is worse than dropping 100 dollars on burgers for your family and no one eats. But when you get the real fresh meat, the burgers are amazing! read more

Great little local spot on your way to Scott Valley. We had the fish and chips and they gave us the most massive bag of fries i have ever seen in a to go order! Greasy but good! Veggie Melt had pineapples in it which was a random delight. Generous quantity, fresh and crisp tasting, good friendly service. They served a huge group of hungry summer campers just after us. My family and I have been going to Dave's Place for years (since it opened) and it has always been my favorite place to eat in town. We are allergic to gluten and have always enjoyed the burgers without the bun. However, we called to make an order today and were told that the burgers could not be made without a bun. This was really disappointing because for one we have been enjoying these burgers since I was a kid, and two, I cannot think of any reason why it would suddenly not be possible to make a burger without a bun. I have been to so many restaurants that have been happy to accommodate no bun for dietary reasons and I am sad that we can no longer eat here. read more

This used to be my favorite place to go. Not sure what happened here. They used to have the best onion rings - now not so much. And this last time the bag had hardly any onion rings - mostly paper?!!!! They also changed the size of their dipping sauce to thimble sized portions. When you are paying over $30 for two burgers and two sides of onion rings you expect more. Additionally, the burgers were sloppily wrapped and tossed together. They were falling apart. This was truly disappointing and I really hope that they go back to their former self otherwise we will not be coming back here again. read more

I live two hours away from here. This place to me is in the middle of no where and of course out here is where you find a first class burger. No joke. Thick juicy burger, fries are the thin crispy kind. Old hometown feel gorgeous scenery outside. Trish the server was really nice. Definitely worth the drive even if you live in LA, just kidding. If I had to rate the food I would give 5 stars however this review is not based on the food. I had to take a burger back that had onions put on it. This was for my 6 year old. I took them off and the pickles cause he said he could taste the onions. I tried to wipe the meat off. It was not ok to my child's wants. I was super nice and the girl who works there is amazing. However the owner came out called me a liar that he made the burger and there was not onion. He began arguing with me then he laid into the young girl in front of me and the rest of the customers. I nicely said I did not appreciate how he treated me or his employees and he basically did not care. He rudely said see you next time I said I don't think so he replied "yippee" WOW!!! I am disappointed for many reasons first treating hard working decent employees like garbage is not ok and not to mention your customers who are paying $25 for 2 burgers fries and onion rings. I love the food but will never return. I can not imagine supporting any type of business where a owner could care less about customers. I approached him nicely and to the point not looking for an argument but more for I am sorry here is your $7 burer made right. NOPE!!! If you are looking to support business owners who care about their community this is not where you should patronize. read more

THE place for Cheeseburgers! Well worth the trip and paying a little more for their mouth watering, juicy burgers with special sauce! They have a fry sauce my husband loves! Dave's Place no longer accommodates people with food allergies. They refuse to make a burger without a bun. I've been going here for a decade and getting burgers without buns, but today they refused. The lady on the phone said I could take the bun off myself and when I explained that I have Celiac disease and can't eat food that has tiny pieces of bun stuck to it without getting extremely ill she told me she didn't care and couldn't serve me a burger without a bun. My usual is the breakfast burrito... You can add any kind of meat to it. I like to get bacon, egg, and potato. It's really good with their homemade hot sauce. It's pretty big and the price is great! I've been here a couple times and have gotten different things and every time the meal has been fantastic! The food is just a great guilty pleasure and so delicious to boot. You get a lot of food for your money too. Workers have always been nice and when the place is slow the speed is almost comparable to a fast food restuarant. The food here is relatively mediocre, but the staff is very rude and disrespectful. My sisters and I called in and had an order to go. However, we showed up early (parking in front of Daves) and walked to the store to get drinks. Mind you, we were gone for less than five minutes. When we returned to the car to place our drinks in it before walking into Daves, an employee from Daves emerged to scream at us, threatening to tow our car if we ever parked in front of Daves to go to the store again. We informed the woman that we were indeed costumers, but she refused to apologize and continued to scream at us (at three young girls, including a young minor) about parking in front of the restaurant. I would give this place zero stars if possible. I will not be eating here ever again which is saying a lot considering there are only 5 restaurants in town. read more

My partner and I LOVE this place and only wish we lived much closer! We're actually 6 1/2 hours away and only rarely get to Fort Jones but whenever we're even remotely near (!), we make a beeline for this unassuming gem of a cafe. From the wonderful, beautiful woman who takes your order--sorry, I don't know her name but she's always got a big smile and makes you feel welcome--to Dave himself--cook extraordinaire--this place is soooooo good. The burgers are cooked to order and are ample, juicy, and top-notch. I usually order the patty melt (swiss cheese, mushrooms, etc) and it's hands down the BEST patty melt among many patty melts I've eaten over the years. My partner orders a different burger each time we visit and he says they've all been excellent. The prices are more than reasonable, too. You don't know me, dear readers, but trust me--this small family-run restaurant with family-generated artwork on the wall to complement the food--is a solid Five Stars. Even if you have to detour a bit out of your way, it'll be worth your time, wallet, and taste buds. read more

We have ordered pizza twice here they were both burnt. when I ordered the second time I said that the last one was burnt the girl in front said she would let them know Well that did not help if anything the second one was burnt more than the first not much topping either. we have gone to papa murphys take n bake pizza since. never will go here again read more
