Been going to the Village Inn since 1980's. Always was a great place with the lounge and restaurants. Dave did it right. Dinner was perfect, customers service was perfect and took a tour around the hotel. Highly recommend the bar service, restaurant and hotel. Love this place!! Such a cool spot! The ribeye was cooked perfectly and the baby back ribs were beyond tasty. Great cocktails in beautiful new hotel. Had the ribeye steak, wife had a chimichuri burger. Steak cooked perfectly with the right amount of fat. Burger was juicy and flavorful, with fries that were crisp and delicious. Warm berry pie ala mode left us filled to the brim and looking forward to our next visit. Jim's service was top shelf. Highly recommend Dave's Place. read more

I've left a 1-star review in the past for an uninspired dinner at this restaurant, which was our one and only time there. However, against my better judgement my husband really wanted to try their breakfast since people have raved about them. It was Thanksgiving Day morning & before cooking our big meal, we decided to see what was open on this day for breakfast. The website for Dave's said it was open so my husband placed an order online & his debit card was charged. I found something I thought sounded good so I was sort of excited to give it another shot. We drove up there from Lompoc & they were closed! I sat in the car while my husband walked around trying to find someone to help with our situation. He went into the Inn next door & was told that, yes, the restaurant was closed & the website should not have shown that they were open, let alone take an order & charge for it! The man at the Inn said he would speak to someone in the restaurant & that we should call back the next day to make sure the charge did not end up going through. It did not, so that was a relief. But after being burned 2 times I will not give it a 3rd chance. So, now they get another single star from us. I wish we had wonderful experiences with this restaurant like most of the other reviews posted. It would have been really nice to have a new favorite place to eat since there aren't many to choose from here in Lompoc. read more

The service was great and the atmosphere was nice. The food was not great. I don't want to tear this place down but I had high hopes it would be a nice restaurant. The drinks are a bit pricey and we passed on buying any. The Caesar salad looked great but the lettuce was not washed and felt gritty in the mouth. I ordered the tri tip dinner with veggies and baked potato. One thing I don't recommend is the side of veggies. It was not good at all. It was peppers and corn out of a frozen bag, smoked and put on the plate. They were mushy and I had a hard time eating the bite I tried. Overall, I was very disappointed. read more

When this place moved into the village inn it went downhill. The service is horrible, we stood for 10 minutes at the front hostess stand and didn't even get acknowledged. Even when I got sat before the staff has a sense of entitlement that you can feel. read more

I really wanted to love this place. The decor is beautiful. We tried the pasta bolognese but it was a creamy tomato sauce with meat. It was a large portion but only the very center of the pasta was hot and the basic bread was dry, hard and cold. We also had the fish and chips. The fish was amazing, perfect breading and it was hot. The fries unfortunately were room temperature at best. Overall very disappointing. read more

Fantastic spot! Went for lunch and was very impressed. Tri-tip sandwich was delicious, fries were crispy, but those beans really stuck with me. I'm determined to try and recreate them at home; they weren't sweet like baked beans, but they certainly were NOT ranch style beans. As someone tired of ranch beans at every dang bbq spot, those beans alone are going to keep me coming. Only negatives were the service was rather slow--our waitress had to deliver food to the pool, and we watched her outside for about 15 minutes while we waited to order--and the cocktail wasn't amazing, but was certainly enjoyable. I wanted to post the dinner menu for everyone. The food was good overall tho. I got baby backs and they were very good. My sister got a steak that could have been seasoned better but the cook on it was perfect. We got the mushroom app and artichoke app, both tasted good and the dip was amazing. Crostini bread would have been good to have for the mushrooms and the artichoke was a little watery but still flavorful. Overall pretty good for me! read more

Both my boy and I got sick after having the thanksgiving buffet. We found a clump of hair in our booth and my daughter's drink glass and lip marks around it. Spoke with the general manager and they claim it didn't happen at their restaurant. I won't be eating there again! read more

We went to the soft opening it was nice...food good and cocktail was on point. We had a nice view and the service was great.

Ordered two lattes to go and it took 21 minutes to make. Seems like they need to learn how to prioritize.

Good food. Service is fine but beware you can have a long wait to be served. They are still working through the kinks of learning that they need equal amounts of servers and busters. The environment is fine, I just wish we consistently would get served faster. read more

I had such hopes for this place. Finally, an upscale dining place in Lompoc!! They closed down the village coffee stop to bring the chef over here. I am so disappointed. We sat at the table a good 10 minutes before I spotted a busboy and asked him if we could get a drink. He finally found our server and Trisha took the order. My husband's drink is whiskey with sprite. She brought the weakest drink that was the color of water. ( served in a 16 oz glass!) the service was bad. Awful service. I guess we'll have to keep driving 30 miles away to get to a decent restaurant. Sad. read more

Went there in the middle of the week. We got sat at a booth. Once we sat down our server gave us some water glasses (so filthy and dirty didn't look like they have been polished properly) he asked us if we would like anything else, i said some lemonade and before my partner could say anything he walked away. 15 minutes passed by no lemonade and no service. We set our menus aside to signal that we were ready to order still nothing. Yet our server kept walking past our table like nothing. Not busy not rushing nothing. There was maybe 4 more tables besides us in the restaurant. We finally ordered our food. Once our food came no service yet once again. I got the Cesar salad and it wasn't very good and there was a grey hair in my food, with a side of stale bread. My partner got a chicken sandwich and that was alright. I don't ever complain since i work in this industry as well but this was absolutely ridiculous. But there was even another table that had walked out bc of the service. Idk if this was discriminatory or what but i would suggest to go somewhere else. The only thing that was nice was the young man as our busser. Go somewhere else! read more

My family and I just finished eating breakfast at Daves Place on Sunday, August 31st. I felt obligated to write this review so the management team might take action. The Village Inn, that Dave's Place is connected to is beautiful, 5-star hotel in my opinion. The front desk attendee was nice and the hotel rooms were immaculate. This led me to believe that restaurant would be equally accommodating. Wow, was I wrong. We placed our names on the wait list just past 10 am, and were told the wait for a table would be 20-25 minutes. We were seated 70 minutes later! It would take 10 minutes before our waitress acknowledged our existence. After she did, it was explained that the kitchen was moving slow and it would take 45 minutes to get our food, she them cam back and told me that she spoke with the Mitchan and the wait would only be 35 minutes. It ended up being 50 minutes before we were served, I timed it. Most breakfast plates that were served, lacked seasoning. During the entire 50 minute wait for our food the waitress didn't check on is once, not even to refill our drinks or coffee. I spoke with the bar manaager who was very nice but not extremely helpful. He apologized to us for the long wait but then jokingly told us to "try back again on a Saturday" next time we visit While levity is appreciated in tough situations, its not received well on an empty stomach or when the food is sub par. A competent staff would have alerted the manager and ask them to pay us a visit. After such a poor experience that was voiced multiple times, I would have expected some type minor discount on the bill or some type of appetizer that was component. The village Inn grounds and decor are beatiful. Walking around the facility may help with your family two hour wait for Sunday morning breakfast. PS. When a refill was asked for an Arnold Palmer, the waitress brought over a half glass of tea and a full glass of lemonade to mix ourselves!!! Same with the peach tea refill, the waitress brought a glass of tea and peach syrup in a small expresso cup to mix ourselves. I've seen tableside service... but with drinks. Insanity! read more

We tried Dave's place for dinner tonight 6th of July 2025. What is so hard about baking a potato until it is done, cooking broccoli and season it with seasoning and putting butter on it? My filet was a flat steak, yes cooked okay and tender but I have never seen a flat filet before. I don't know if I would order a steak again. I wish them luck but I think things will have to improve. We were served our salad with no utensils. The Margarita was 14.00. c'mon Dave.....don't try to make a killing all at once. read more

Today was my first time going to Dave's Place with my mom. One thing that you can see right off the bat is how great the service is. The servers are very friendly and sweet. I loved my matcha latte, and I it is the best one that I have ever had. The ambiance is lovely but could have a little more modern touch. My mom and I ordered two burritos and shared them. The California Burrito was delicious, however the Chicken Fried Steak burrito did not have the flavor that I was looking for. The quality that both burritos shared were great portions. Initially when my husband and I moved to the area, we were very excited about the opening of Dave's Place. We had heard greats things about the previous restaurant across the street. Well...not the case. Multiple meals have been served cold to us or served in different ways than the last time we had ordered, preferred beverages not available to us (out of stock multiple times), etc, etc. Personality of restaurant staff might be the only strong point of Dave's Place. Others have said give them the opportunity to get better, they have only been open for a few weeks. I would give them that pass if this was a restaurant of no experience. This isn't the case, this restaurant has been established for many years, simply moving across the way with a slight upgrade in menu options and name change. I really hope the owner of this Inn is closley keeping an eye on Dave's Place as I don't think the restaurant is being operated as it should. That is not the fault of the restaurant staff but it's leader in charge, Dave J. Additionally I heard Dave J is planning on opening a Pizzeria?? For what?? More lack of attention on the horizon for what should be his priority, that is Dave's Place. read more
