When I walked in, I was instantly greeted, signed in with just a little paperwork, and sat down to begin my appointment within five minutes tops. Dr. Chen really got my prescription perfected and worked with me to start using contacts and I'm so glad I did! It was my first time here and I'm really happy with my visit. First, I like that they are open on weekends and on Sundays they close at 5PM. It's a relief because not all opticals are open on weekends and I didn't have to rush as much. I didn't set an appointment and just came at 3PM. I needed an eye exam and contact lenses. The staff were polite and immediately asked the purpose of my visit wherein Dr. Cheng came and helped me out right away. Total time I spent there is just like 15-20 minutes! I've seen Dr.Chen twice now and can not recommend him enough. He gave me a free trial of contacts with my first eye exam and they worked perfectly. I ordered contacts through another website and unfortunately these were blurry and giving me headaches. Dr. Chen allowed me to come in for a re-evaluation free of charge! He is so kind and empathetic he even swapped my box of contacts for some of his new ones. This place is great! They have free parking and a huge open space with plenty of fans and ac. Also have really comfy couches for when you are waiting for your exam. I was checked in quickly and then was sat to wait for my exam with Dr Chen. They gave me a wait time of about 30-40 min and this was on a Sunday afternoon with two people ahead of me. I think I waited about 30 minutes. Not bad! Once I was in for my exam, Dr.Chen was really friendly making great conversation while also working swiftly. It took about 10 minutes altogether until my exam was done and I had my updated contact prescription. I was told about the discount they were offering, if you buy glasses over $60, you will recieve a $40 discount on your exam. Once my exam was finished, I was sent over to another worker who told me prices of the contact lenses for me. I did not feel pressured to do anything, but they were still great on letting me know any discounts or saying that I was always welcome to return later! Will definitely be back!!!! read more

From the bottom line, it's a pretty good place. Spacious and comfortable space, friendly staff and a variety of products. The processing speed is very fast. I ordered late evening and was able to find it early in the morning. Best thing is that business hours are satisfactory because after work i can get here. One bad was that I did not have enough time to check my eyes cause i visit around closing time. but it's okay. I got new glasses and can see more clearly. I can be AWFUL about contacts. I hate the air puffer, and I forget to order new contacts until I'm left with just one in my eye (I know, I know.. ) Anyway, I was on day 3 of only one contact and thought "I really have to do something about this." I got here at 1, had my exam done by 1:20 (maybe 1:15?) And they fit me in Biofinitys which are way more comfortable for me than my 02Optix were. It was affordable, there is a FREE parking lot (!!!) And everyone was pretty friendly. I got a year supply and there's a $50 rebate when it comes in, so the contacts themselves were around $150 (after rebate) and the exam was 80 for me. Apparently there's also coffee. I will probably come back for my glasses, as that was a chunk of change for today! read more

So happy I found this place. I've been meaning to get prescripted for contacts for a while, and since Kaiser is my insurance, I was thinking of going there. But the price there to get a prescription and fitting there for contacts ranged from $120-$150 which was way out of my budget. My dad called around and found Davich Optical, who quoted the price to be around $60~$80 !!! The next week I came in, NO APPT NEEDED, they started off by giving me an eye exam, and the doctor was extremely helpful and nice! She examined my eyes thoroughly and recommended me a few things regarding my eyesight and eyes specifically! I let her know that I was terrible at putting in contacts for I tried contacts a few years ago but gave up because I had such a hard time getting them in & out. So one of the workers sat with me for 20 minutes or so guiding me and showing me how to properly put them in & out! I was so grateful and felt so confident because she was very patient and helpful. I paid $60 for the prescription and a pair of contacts (Biotrue monthly soft lenses). I wanted to try these out first to make sure they were suitable to my eyes before ordering a huge supply. If I could give them 10 stars I would. I am one of the rare humans in Los Angeles who doesn't own a car. I know. So whenever I have to go outside the 5 mile radius that is my universe, I have to really think about logistics. And as I live in the Palms/Culver City area and Davich Optical is on S. Vermont...getting here is a flipping field trip that requires effort, public transpo, snacks, and taking the day off from my 9-5. (well for me at least) This place is excellent at taking walk-ins so I simply took the day off and headed there. Imagine my shock when I walk up and their doors are wide open, cops, insurance people, cleaning crew, security guard and Davich staff are all there scrambling around and the floors are flooded and covered in black ashes, grease & debris. Turns out the business next door had burned to the ground two days before, and firemen hosed the whole thing down causing the dirty water to flow down the back of the building and flood the entire optical. Wooden floors, tiles, everything was uprooted and cracked. There was a sign that said "Temporarily Closed due to fires" & my heart sank. My face must have been so pitiful because the security guard asked me what's wrong, and stood there listening to my word vomit about taking the day off just to get my glasses, taking an hour just to get there, being blind, and blah blah blah. He walked me over to one of their employees who not only took the time to listen to me, but then quickly sat me down and looked up my records. He then said, "Oh no, you'll need another exam it's been 3 yrs. Let me call the doctor" So I think, "OMG how embarrassing! The doctor is going to tell him over the phone, "Tell that crazy lady to look around at the situation, read the room, and come back another day!" So I say "No no no, it's ok, omg I'm so sorry. I can come back." He insists "No no I'll just call the doctor." Then he shouts, "Doooctooor!" And Doctor Chen who is talking to the insurance folks, and obviously busy, walks over calmly and hears the gentleman explain my situation and says, "Well, it's a little dirty in here, so if you give me about 4 hrs and come back between 5-6pm I'll take you and see what we can do." Insurance man obviously disagrees with him, but Dr. Chen insists that if his patients made that much effort to get to him, and they understand it's dirty, and have to walk carefully through the place, then he is going to help them get their glasses. So me and another lady who had traveled even farther than I had, left only to come back when instructed. I had doubt that by the time I got back I'd be seen. They close at 7pm, and the insurance man was adamant about him not being a lawsuit risk. Surely they'd convince him to close up shop. But I walked around the neighborhood and enjoyed Red Ribbon & Jollibee (who let me camp there for 3 hrs which is a yelp review in and of itself) and when I came back Dr. Chen took us both, just as he promised. Without any insurance, I got my check up for $40 and because I used my prescription to buy glasses from them they discounted the $40 and put them towards my glasses. I had a choice of $50, $100, and $150 frames and on the other side of the room there were Gucci, Versace, and other high end brands. I was lucky my choice was $50 frames, and although normally they make them and give them to you within 30 mins same day of your check up, the flood caused their lab to go under so instead they told me they'd ship them. At this point I was beyond impressed by their willingness to help me, and their great attitudes and jokes and smiles, that I wouldn't have cared if it took them 2-3 weeks to send them to me. Especially under the circumstances! But Angel and Karen Kim the two amazing employees that helped me out, guaranteed I'll get them in a couple of days. My total cost for the entire process? $90 plus $10 for shipping. My restored faith in humanity, and customer service? PRICELESS. read more

I've been a regular customer here for years. I believe depending on what you get the prices can vary. I mean if you get high end stuff you will pay more. The in-house frames and lens bring the overall cost down more. They do offer a wide variety of selections and the best thing is that they do lenses in house! If they have your prescription in stock they will fit the lenses to the frames right away and this only takes about 30 minutes to an hour for polishing and fitting. If you want your new glasses fast this is the place! Of course they might not have the exact frame you want then you can bring our glasses frame and have the lenses done here. Compared to other places the upgrade lenses that include AR coating and polycarbonate options are more affordable. If you have bad eyesights like me and don't want to spend a lot of money for quality lenses, you should come here. In fact I just had my new lenses done here today. (Bring your prescriptions in if you can find other places that do eye exams cheaper) They tell you that the lenses will take about an hour and you can wait inside and sip on drinks they have. Their free drinks include cafe latte, americano, hot chocolate etc--it comes from an automatic machine. If you have ever been to Korea, you will know these sweet drinks that come from the vending machine. The eye exam I believe is reasonably priced. Not too much. But do make appointments ahead of time if you don't want to wait. So far all the exams have been handled professionally and nicely. The parking gets a bit too crowded because there are a lot of shops within the plaza. Especially when you know there is a AYCE KBBQ place, the parking would get very hectic. Immediately I was greeted with great service, knowledgeable persons who were really patient and helpful. And Davich had a GREAT selection of frames. I live about an hour away and continued looking for frames at various optical stores nearer to home. But none could compare with Davich's frames. So, on a recent Saturday, I drove back.
