We went here today got lunch after church. It's about a 30 minute drive bug we had heard good things from z as family member do we decided to go try it out. When we arrived we were immediately seated at a table, she took our drink order and brought it to. My wife ordered the senior Cajun catfish plate and ordered the regular catfish plate. The plate comes with fries and hush puppies and three strips of catfish. With that you can also go to the salad bar. The lettuce was fresh and crisp and the other toppings were O K and there were lots of choices but the pinto beans were amazing. The food was brought out while I was working on my first bowl of beans. The portions were generous and fresh cooked. The fries were thin cut so I knew they would get cold quickly but they were hot when they served them to me. The catfish was definitely fresh cooked and very hot. As I said, I had a bowl of beans and we also had a salad bowl from the bar. Our wait person was Alyn. She was great. Fast service, very friendly. Took time to explain to first time customers what was offered like free drinks on the senior plates. We will going back to this restaurant regularly. I understand about fresh cooked food as I was a manager for Wendy's for 32 years. Their prices are very modest especially the Sr. Plates that are $9.99 for lunch. read more

We walked in and waited a good solid 2 minutes while the man behind the register finished his paperwork before he would seat us. We were sat in a booth by the front window and we waited a good 5 minutes before a server came over and apologized for not seeing us. I ordered the shrimp plate with hush puppies and salad bar. Hubs ordered the fish and hush puppies which came with salad bar. The salad bar had items on it that looked like they were past their shelf life. Patrons beside me were commenting the same thing. The best food we had all night was the pinto beans that you get on the salad bar. My shrimp were very tough and as I was eating I noticed that the poop bag (think Chef Anne from the Food Network) was inside each on of the shrimp. Some it was in the coating and some it was still attached to the fish. Gross. Service was better once she started waiting on us but this place is a big miss for us and I can't see us returning any time in the future. read more

hello, we were a party of nine on father's day 2025. a typical busy Sunday considering it was Father's day. They were backed up, not enough help.Kitchen couldn't keep up. we waited in the lobby area over an hour on our feet, after being told 30 min wait. I understand being busy, but you have 3 to 4 girls on the register, at times chatting, they should have been utilized differently on this busy day. Their were tables empty,, it was stated not enough help. If you had offered a drink or even the hushpuppies, it would have made a difference. management not on point yesterday. My wife & I are new to Azle & saw this place & gave it a try on Saturday. I never pay attention to reviews until I make my own judgement.... This place has excellent catfish! It was fresh & hot, the salad bar was good, especially the pinto beans! We lived in Arlington for over 30yrs & this place is on par with Catfish Sam's, an Arlington institution! The only thing that was different was how quite the place was... It wasn't very busy I guess due to it not being a Saturday dinner kind of place. We will be back! read more

We were just down the road at Two Wright Gun store and wanted to eat so drive just up the road to this restaurant. This is a real Texas restaurant with lots of fried food. I had the fish and chips and my wife and daughter ordered the shrimp and fish lunch special along with an order of onion rings. Everything was great and very reasonably priced. None of the fried food was oily at all so it looks like they've gone to air fryers. The onion rings were about the best I've ever had. They also had a very nice salad bar which was included with the lunch specials. The service was good and very friendly. Will be back. read more

We have gone to many, many Dave Beards Resturants and the favorite being in Wascom, Texas. All have been good even the tumbled down shack in Waco. The one on Jacksboro Highway is fine and how people.downgrade it i will never know. Would like to say more but it would not be allowed. read more

The night we went they were understaffed and the manager was having to deal with an issues. However the manager was the cook for the night so while dealing with the issue no one was cooking the food. We waited 45 mins for meal which should have taken maybe 20 mins. The dining area is a bit dated and loud, there was only a few other families at tables and the noise just echoed. Had the seafood platter 19.99 my wife had the fish and shrimp platter 15.99 . The food was incredibly bland , and some of it was horrible tasting . Even the tea had no flavor ,and my wife said the Dr. Pepper was flat !!!! Don't waste your money or your time . Worst meal we've had in years !!! My husband and I went here for dinner, he ordered the catfish, i ordered the catfish and shrimp. I immediately had them take the shrimp back. It was inedible, did not taste fresh. The catfish was salt and could of easily been mistaken for dried out chicken. It definitely did not resemble fresh catfish. Unfortunately, we will not be back! This was our first and last time at this eatery. The servers were very nice, but as we were waiting for our food, a server was bussing the table next to us. She used a dirty rag and scraped off the food debris, lightly spritzed the "sanitizer," smeared the food crumbs everywhere to wipe the sanitizer across the table and took the same rag to the next table. My wife and I had to go to Springtown, we were hungry, saw this place and stopped in for lunch. Salad was good, nothing else was even edible. We both had catfish, beans and the hushpuppies. As has been mentioned in earlier reviews, the food is just very bland and the tartar sauce was so bad I was afraid I might get sick just from the bite of it I did take. Neither of us even ate half of the fish and had no desire to take home what was left. My suggestion is maybe using some spices? I will say that our waitress was very nice. read more

Not bad. Beyond the seafood they have country fried steak. The catfish comes in regular or cajun. I got the regular and husband got the cajun. The catfish isn't hard fried. It's very lightly fried. I'd say it's more for the taste buds of the older crowd. Even the cajun had very little flavor to it. I liked that they had a salad bar included with your meal though. Went to David Beards Around 4:30 Saturday 8/25/18 Food was was cold, floors were very nasty. When the bald headed manager was there food taste better was always hot and fresh grounds was kept nice. After ordering our food and having already waited for 45 minutes, the waitress came and told us it was going to be about 25-30 minutes longer because they were serving a large party. I guess the place would be all right if they didn't have more than one customer at a time in the building to serve. My dear husband got up and filled my cup up.
