My first time coming here with my family and was not a good experience. After ordering our food and having already waited for 45 minutes, the waitress came and told us it was going to be about 25-30 minutes longer because they were serving a large party. I guess the place would be all right if they didn't have more than one customer at a time in the building to serve. My dear husband got up and filled my cup up. I take my mother here most of the time we go to eat. We love it. The staff is friendly and Missy always remembers our usual. Usually get the catfish. Very good. Love the salad bar. Like the way the vegetables are cut. The pinto beans are great and remind me of how Mom used to make them. The onion rings are the best I've ever had!The cost is very fair. Stopped by for lunch and got the seafood platter. Started with the salad bar and was impressed. Got a bowl of beans that were tasty as well. Seafood platter my favorite was the fried shrimp. Got our Catfish southwest style which was not bad. The oysters were not my favorite but knew with how hard they are to get fresh and cook. This was the worst dining experience I have ever encountered as a foodie. I simply write this as an experience and not a "dining" experience because I did not even get to dine. First, I walked through the door of and noticed all the carefully placed social distancing signage and designations. While this provided me with the comfort of knowing they are interested in my health as well as the health of others, is a plus. Then, the hostess took me around the corner to a crowded dining area in one section of a large room with other areas closed off. The sparse amount of patrons that were there could have shook hands with the next table. (Please note that this was added for the benefit of everyone; even though COVID vaccines are now available.) So, the hostess sat me at a booth and told me someone would be right with me. I saw a waitress walk towards me, then do a 360 and disappear into the kitchen or backroom area. Keep in mind that she made NO eye contact with me as a patron. Then, I saw a young man who was waiting tables go up to two different tables and ask those diners if they were good. As he was walking by my table and my anticipation building to sample their seafood offerings, I was let down. He found it more important to bus the booth adjacent to where I was sitting. Now, I believe a clean dining room shows your customers that you care. However, I expected him to greet me in some way as he bused the table. Nope! No way! Just like his co-worker, I was non-existent, and he made no eye-contact with me. I sat patiently to give them a chance as they looked frantic about what they were doing. Keep in mind, my drink order and food order still have not been taken. I went to the salad / bean bar and served my self a helping of each. I went and sat down then noticed two other parties who entered the restaurant after me being accommodated with drinks and some food. This was disappointing and the icing on the cake, especially after having been dismissed by wait staff a combination of five times. I went to the hostess and asked for the manager. She disappeared then came back and proceed to ask me for my ticket to which I told her I was never served. I cheerfully looked the manager in the face and told her it was my first time at DB's to which she joyfully expressed her gratitude. Then, I told her that it is my last and as she frowned, I told her what happened. In the end, there are several great seafood establishments throughout TX, but this place would do better to just close their doors. So everyone, do your family, yourself and your pocketbook a favor, do not waste your precious resources on this place. Go somewhere else. read more

We go here when we have a hankering for catfish. I usually get the all you can eat salad bar. The salad bar has everything I like including pinto beans, which theirs are very tasty. Hubby gets the large order cajun catfish and we share. The catfish is cooked fresh , pull apart steaming,not dry or overcooked,just right. And not too salty! That is a big pet peeve of mine, most places catfish is too darn salty, not here! Love this place, my go to for tasty catfish. read more

The service and food here has really gone downhill. Everything at the salad bar was watered down and the beans hardly had any beans...just water. We went to pay and the employees just sat there putting silverware in napkins. It was several minutes before one of them said to the other "oh I thought you were going to ring them up" the other girl got up and came to the register rolled her eyes and was just acting like we were such an inconvenience because she had to get up and let us pay for our food. Has potential but needs help. Hush puppies, cat fish batter, and salad bar need help! Hush puppies are dry and heavy and not good. The batter on fish is bland- but cooked well...the hubs had friend shrimp, of course better not seasoned. He pulled batter off--- the salad bar, was good with options, but watery options - coleslaw was yikes and also watery---- but the ranch was good! I happen to love cole slaw so i am probably qualified to review it. The cole slaw here is on the sweeter side as opposed to a mayo taste. The fish is gresh. The salad bar is excellent for having salad or fixing your potato and it comes with most, if not all entrees. The onion rings on the cajun platter had vidalia onions and a slightly salty and peppery breafing. The shrimp was fresh and tender asnopposed to rubbery. Decor is very simplistic. The atmosphere is more down home than amything else and the staff is fantastic! They let you eat and they refill when they see you are getting low. There is a full bucket of peanuts on the table and an empty bucket. Put the peanut shells in it. The hush puppies were more moist than you usually see and less corn meal. I cant review the pinto beans. I just dont like pinto beans in general. read more

Tried this place out for the first time tonight, and will not be going back. Ordered cheese sticks - came out cold inside. Shrimp scampi came out saturated in the garlic butter, almost like it had been sitting in in the pan for hours - and it was cold as well. Hush puppies were just a breaded blob of dough. Walked in and noticed it looked exactly like Catfish O-Harley's in Decatur, TX. It was a little after 1:00 p.m. and we were the only 2 people waiting to be seated. And we waited and waited. The cashier kept looking at us but never said a word. She waited on several people checking out and looked at us some more. After about 8 minutes, turned to walk out. At that point she finally acknowledged we were there and said she'd be right with us. We left and ate somewhere else. We will never set foot in that place again. read more

Had a great lunch there today - the service was thoughtful and quick and the food was great. Really enjoyed the salad bar and appreciated that the veggies were chopped up small instead of the giant lettuce leaves that are usually in restaurant salads. The lunch special price was right too - eight dollars for an entree, side, hushpuppies and all you want from the salad bar including cole slaw and beans. We have been eating at this restaurant since we moved to Azle almost 10 years ago. The food has always been fantastic, until recently. I went in today to pick up lunch at the beginning of the lunch rush all the waitresses were sitting down to eat while customers waited to be seated. I waited more than 5 minutes for one of them to get up and take my order. When I got my food the fish was so dry that I couldn't eat it. The rice that came with my meal was horrible. It was supposed to be cajun long grain wild rice, but what came on plate looked and tasted like something from a box. The baked potato was ok, but the stuff from the salad bar tasted like it was old. I used to love eating here. Not anymore. I could have gotten better fish from McDonald's. read more

I have to question the five star reviews for this place. I just had lunch around 12:30 and this is some of the worst food I've had. The Pepsi was flat. The fish was overcooked and tasteless. They served me some chicken that was completely ROTTON i called it to the waiters attention and she took it to the back i sat there for several more minutes while my wife finished her dinner and went to pay out the hostess asked me how was everything I informed all was good as normal accept the chicken I sent back and explained to her why I sent it back she apologized and tallied my bill and charged me for the chicken I immediately asked to see the manager about the matter when he came out of the kitchen he developed a very NEGATIVE attitude immediately saying there was nothing wrong with the chicken accept some grizzlies which wasn't Aware of since i had literally SPIT a bib bite of back in my plate because it was so offensive he did reluctantly take the chicken off of my bill but continued to belittle me telling me there was nothing wrong with it telling me that he just thawed it this morning and I explained to him that nobody was blaming him because it was probably bad before it was frozen and delivered to him i was so nauseous that I had to go outside thinking I might throw up any second about 3 minutes later we were getting in our car and the manager came out to my car and proceeded to disrespect me once again about how I was wrong about the chicken bear in mind me and my employees eat and order from this establishment weekly without any problems whatsoever to make a long story short I think that the manager needs to be trained in how to treat the customers i might also ad that the chicken my wife had was wonderful as usual and the waiters were excellent also read more

Absolutely terrible food. The shrimp was way over cooked and tasted like bleach water. The fish was a powdery consistency. I love fish but their fish batter is bland. They need to put some salt and pepper in it!! I won't go back, such a shame. :(
