Went to Rockfish last night for the 1st time in awhile. Stephanie greeted us at the door & promptly seated us at a booth as we requested. The place was busier than usual & turns out that Stephanie was doing double-duty as the hostess & our server. We didn't notice any other waitstaff for quite awhile. We commented to Stephanie that the place seemed to be short-staffed. She admitted that it was & that she had been working since lunchtime at a break-neck pace. But regardless of this she never lost her smile & pleasant demeanor. We were giving her some sympathy but she reassured us that she was fine & that this was just a part of her job. The food, as usual, came out quickly & was superb so I suppose the kitchen was not under-staffed. It was nice to observe that the kitchen staff did help serve dinners as they were leaving the kitchen. I just thought that a shout-out was well-deserved by Stephanie. She's a KEEPER! read more

This place is bigger than I thought. From the outside, it looked like a small restaurant with a few tables, but once you get in there, it opens up to a really deep space. With that being said, it's good for large parties. The ambiance felt light, airy and modern. We came here for mom's birthday because she loves seafood and I heard good things about this place so we decided to try it out. They don't take reservations, but when we got there, we got seated almost immediately. We passed by the long bar in the front and were seated in the back area where they had another smaller bar. We ordered calamari because we always have to have calamari at a seafood spot. It was delicious. It had a little kick to it. I had seafood enchiladas. It was flavorful and my plate was completely clean. I didn't try my parents or husband's food, but they ordered the Santa Fe tacos, fried catfish tropical style with fried okra, and grilled redfish with sautéed spinach. For dessert, we had the croissant bread pudding. Mmmm that was decadent! I'm glad we all shared that. Totally recommend if you're a seafood lover. They have so many items on the menu to choose from. On the menu, you can also choose the type of fish you want, how you want it prepared, and the sides for that particular plate, which is what my mom and husband did with their catfish tropical style with fried okra and the redfish with the sautéed spinach. There are 7 types of fish to choose from and 5 ways it can be prepared, plus 8 regular sides and 5 premium sides. If I'm doing my math right, that means 455 possible plates. Incredible! read more

We have tried the one on Cooper in Arlington and honestly there is no comparison. This one, on Camp Bowie, is way better. The food seems fresher and made with more care. The service is very good and attentive. read more

Right off the bat, I ordered a margarita with a Tajín rim, but the bartender seemed confused and instead used Old Bay seasoning. It was an odd start to the evening. The food overall felt over-seasoned--too much Cajun spice, salt, or pepper--making my seabass nearly inedible. It was overcooked and drowned in sauce, masking the fish itself. The green beans looked like leftovers warmed up from a previous service. My husband's basic steak, broccoli, and potatoes were fine, but nothing memorable. We're open to giving Rockfish another chance in case things have improved since January '25, but for now, the dining experience didn't meet expectations. read more

Enjoyed the cream walls with wood and black metal accents. There were many choices we could gladly have made. Some dishes selected included fish and chips, red fish Oscar style, pecan encrusted trout, grilled snapper, seafood enchiladas, something else I do not recall. The sides were of okra, green beans, jalapeño cheese grits, slaw, fries, and more. Everyone enjoyed all of the sides. The green beans were uniquely prepared- roasted and topped with bacon. Delicious. That brings me to the only slight hiccup. Originally, I planned to order crab cake Benedict from the brunch menu. It came served with potatoes. Asked to substitute a different side (something green instead of potatoes) to my brunch dish since the rest of the menu was available. Waiter informed me that he thought the side dish was "fixed" on the brunch menu. I gently asked, "Could you ask to be sure?" He responded instead, "Maybe we could do it for a significant up-charge." Instead of pressing forward, I just changed my order to the lunch menu where I was able to get some yummy green beans. Enjoyed the food I ordered, so it all worked out in the end. I just found it a bit puzzling that if the waiter wasn't sure what might be possible, that he did not offer to just ask somebody who did know. All of that minor nonsense aside. Everybody at our table enjoyed their meals. The portion was large, and I took most of mine to my daughter who was on shift at hospital, so it was a win-win for us after all! We would definitely return. Coffee was fresh and tasty. Waiter re-filled water at our table frequently. For coffee and soft drink refills, he brought out entire new dish settings but did not offer to take away the empty cups, saucers, spoons, and glasses. Our table did get crowded, so I handed them to him before he left. I think that some little service issues could be tweaked with a brief brush up on training for an improved experience. So I was super excited to try this place. Our server seemed very nice but very green. He was certainly attentive and was courteous. We started with the crab cakes and there didn't seem to be a lot seasoning in the mix. It was served sitting on a salad mix for a garnish which didn't make a lot of sense and was unnecessary. The spicy sauce that came with it was in plastic ramekin and tasted liked it was mayo with mixed with hot sauce. I got the Southwest Seafood Enchiladas per our server's recommendation and they were just ok and lacked flavor. However the rice was very well cooked. We also got the fried oysters. These couldn't be finished and had a funny taste. The hush puppies were decent and the slaw was good. Normally I get dessert when trying a new restaurants. In a world where I can throw a rock and hit 4 restaurants that serve bread pudding. I looked at the menu and see that there is 2 different versions of it. I have never had this good of cooked fish! I'm normally eat sushi and stay away from grilled fish but we gave it a try after seeing someone order it and took a chance. The ambiance for the restaurant made me feel underdressed but everyone was so nice. The overall meal is to die for we are definitely coming back. What stood out was the fact you can choose your fish and make your own plate with side to choose from. What I really loved it their menu gives you a taste profile for each of their fish. We were craving some seafood and much to our luck, Rockfish on Camp Bowie had newly opened, so we opted for a visit. Really had no idea what to expect given our memories of the previous iteration of Rockfish that was off Hulen (where Mesomaya currently is), since that menu was largely fried-fish type fare. We were really pleased to see the menu had a great selection of small plates when looking at their starters and soups-salads. We had fond memories of going to Blu Crab (also on Camp Bowie) to get our seafood fix and seeing Rockfish having the similar menu set up definitely made us happy. But what to try? There's also menu portions dedicated to shellfish, fried fish, and cajun cooking. They were also running a Cajun Celebration series, so our server Charlemagne recommended the Cajun Redfish Beurre Blanc and even let us split it since we wanted to try a few other things. I also ordered a cup of gumbo, but also got to sample the chowder and jalapeno cream, which were also great. The blackened redfish was amazing. Tender and flavorful, just the right size dish to split too. Needless to say, we enjoyed our visit, made all the better by the great service from Charlemagne. Coupled with the expansive menu and the new look, we plan to stop in to try more parts of the expansive menu, and perhaps sit at their nice bar and have a few cocktails to go with. read more

We went in for our first visit today. Our server Parker was awesome. He was attentive, friendly and answered our questions. We had a couple of espressos, very strong and flavorful. We had the rockfish sampler as an appetizer, the spinach dip was bland but the volcano shrimp was tasty. The crab and shrimp louis was good with a descent amount of seafood, I think adding more than two slices of cucumber and tomato may have made it even better. The snow crab cluster was fresh and the portion was just right. The overall atmosphere was a little cold with a very modern cafeteria style to it. Prices are the same as most places today. The manager was very friendly and told us about upcoming specials. I feel there could be a little more care in food presentation and ingredients to make this place shine. read more

The ambiance is light, breezy, and welcoming. The food menu is extensive and provides a lot of cajun/bayou/seafood options as well as featuring weekly specials. They have specialty cocktails and a few beers on tap. I enjoyed a limited time offer of a crab and shrimp boil. The garlic butter was a miss for me. But go with the bartender's advice and ask for the "Nitro seasoning" on the side to dip at your discretion. The potatoes were particularly tasty dipped in the seasoning. My date opted for a blackened snapper which came with 2 sides. He chose crispy fries (for him) and Jalapeno cheese grits (for me to try) that cost an extra dollar. The grits were decadent and rich, topped with andouille sausage slices. I skipped on dessert, but would love to try their homemade croissant bread pudding or key lime pie at another time. So why 4 stars? It wasn't my favorite and could have used WAY more napkins navigating through my crab and shrimp boil. The location is in a shopping mall too, so parking can be crammed. read more

What a great meal! This location just opened a week ago. Daniel and Reece were our servers and they did a wonderful job. Daniel had us laughing the whole meal. Glenda can be a light eater, but she chowed down that shrimp etouffee. I told her no licking the plate in public. Lol! I started with a huge garden salad. The remoulade dressing was SO good. I managed to eat about half of my Cajun chicken and shrimp pasta. The rest came home for leftovers. We had to pick between regular bread pudding and their fried bread pudding. We picked the fried to try something different. While it was very tasty, we agreed to stick with the regular bread pudding. When you're in the mood for seafood, Rock Fish is always a good option. We made reservations as we were expecting Father's Day to be crowded, as were the big chain restaurants that we passed on the drive over. Surprised that there were only a few tables occupied! For this Father's Day, son Nicholas treated me to lunch and man oh Manechevitz it was delicious, and all we had was appetizers. We shared the crab cakes on a bed of mixed greens and remoulade sauce and peel & eat shrimp with all-in garlic butter. The crab cakes were small but there are three to an order and they have very little filler. There are 12 nice sized fresh shrimp to an order. The all-in garlic butter had a great with just the right amount of heat. All of the food we saw looked good. Prices are very good for seafood. Service was good but a little slow. My wife, my oldest son and I are visiting from Tennessee and ate dinner here. The food was amazing, the service was fantastic, as was the ambiance. We got the spinach dip and garlic bread for appetizers, and each got a different seafood dish. The food was fresh, seasoned well, and all went well together. The server, Steven C., was very friendly and had a good sense of humor. I eat a lot of seafood (my favorite) and always look for it when I am traveling.
