I also had a single Raw jumbo gulf oyster and then the fried oyster platter. Both were so delicious. (I wonder if they would consider frying the jumbo oysters?) and washed it down with a huge Michelob Ultra. The perfect after church lunch. Us Southern Baptist worship hard! My wife had the jumbo fried shrimp plate, the shrimp were fried perfectly but the cornbread batter seemed to not stick properly, need to egg wash first?, but was delicious no matter and to top it off she had a large frozen margarita. I tasted it and was glad I was driving and not her! The place itself was Louisiana dive bar vibe, very laid back with plenty of TVs to watch your fave sports team. Finally had a chance to stop by to eat in at the oyster bar. Once you walk in it feel the same and smells the same As the other seafood/oysters places even been. Bar, booths and regular tables. We sat at one of the booth table and immediately presented with regular menu and HH menu. We opted for their lunch fare and didn't realize we got there at the nick of time we had 6 minutes left to place in an order. I ordered their lunch portion shrimp (fried) platter with a side of fries and it came with cocktail and tartar dipping sauces. We also ordered a small shrimp cocktail which is full of baby shrimp swimming and a sweet and tangy cocktail sauce. Overall, it was a great visit. read more

I really want to like this place, but ordered Bloody Mary it was ok, the cup of gumbo was room temperature, the blue star oysters Rockefeller were not hot enough to melt the Parmesan and they sat there ready to serve for over 5 minuteswhile the 3 waitresses stood by front door on phones .. the oysters were big , creamy , fresh. I went with the catfish plate, which came with two pieces of fried catfish, crispy on the outside, hot and juicy on the inside. I opted for fries as my side, and they were a great match. We also shared their shrimp cocktail, which had a generous amount of small shrimp swimming in a sweet and tangy cocktail sauce. The cocktail sauce was great for dipping between bites of fried food. This place was good. It had a dive bar type vibe, our server was nice. She brought our drinks out fast and the food came pretty quickly too. I had a coconut habanero margarita to drink it was delicious. We split oyster rocker-feller to start which were great and hubby had a cup of clam chowder which was just ok. Came here with cousin to have crawfish day after Fat Tuesday since I couldn't go out that night. It was my first time experiencing Texas Pit Oyster Bar, but it's been here in this location in N. FW for a while now. My cousin said she has been before and it said it was good, so I agreed to this instead of Razzoos. I now wish we had gone to Razzoos. It's not bad, but I prefer a saucier spice as opposed to dry, and theirs was a bit too salty. I guess I could ask for it on the side. The crawfish were a decent size though and had very meaty claws. They did not have very many drinks specials, although they had a fairly stocked bar. We each had 2lbs of crawfish, mine with corn, hers with sausages and it was at a fair price. I forgot to save receipt. I think it was $10+ per pound. It's a little hole-in-the-wall place, tears in the seat benches, toilet unhinged, but it seems good for some regulars in the area even though there are several restaurant options just around the corner alongside I35W. Parking is limited too, and a few seats along a short bar area for singles. It is definitely a local's spot. read more

The food presents well; however this food lacks seasoning like really it's missing! Confused though cause the catfish breading is speckled as though it's seasoned; but nahhh it's just crunchy. Eh, while I've had better I've also had a lot worse. The TX gumbo didn't have the same flavors I'm familiar with but it was still good and filling. A bit on the expensive side for what you get but as I mentioned... I've had worse. Service here was acceptable... nothing out of the ordinary or executional about it. My wife & I visited your location on Western Ctr last night for dinner. Have mixed feelings regarding our evening. First off. Not handicap friendly at all. I was in a wheelchair. Handicap parking was three stores down & around the corner from the restaurant. Not to mention. Three very large heavy metal patio tables blocked the sidewalk to even get to the door. My wife & a stranger had to clear a path, just for me to even get by. After that situation. We were able to get to the door. Then get a table. Server Roxanne was good. My 1/2 dozen raw oysters, & my wifes' 1/2 dozen oysters Rockefeller were great! My wife also ordered a shrimp cocktail. Which was very disappointing. Roxanne asked if my wife wanted a regular or jumbo. Expecting jumbo shrimp. No, what my wife received was a large beer scooner of popcorn shrimp floating in some type of tomato sauce. As I said. Very disappointing. Roxanne, next time. Be more detailed in your description of "jumbo." Had we've known. We would not have ordered it. We would've informed the manager when she was doing table touches. She asked the only other table about their dining experience, then ignored us. Oh, well. Needless to say. After spending $100. Ate here a few times. Always have been decent and the pricing was good. Not sure what happened today. We ordered 2 grilled catfish platters ($13 each), a cup of seafood gumbo ($5), and clam chowder ($5). The total came to $51.71 The grilled catfish with veggies was soggy and greasy. Disappointing. But most of all was the price. I don't understand how it came to $51. My son picked up the food so he just pay without asking cause he didn't want to make a scene. I was upset seeing he was charged more than the price listed on the menu. See pictures for proof. I'm not someone making a false claim. Came here for lunch with some friends who love this place. I will say staff was friendly and inviting. I got a combo plate with clams, fried shrimp, and Jalapeño chicken Diablo. Along with fries and coleslaw. The clams were great, everything else was ok for me. The coleslaw had a bit too much onion for my taste. Overall I'm gonna chalk this one up to me just not being in a seafood mood or something else. The others at my table finished all their food and snack on what I left on my plate. They had some fish tacos and oysters which they loved and raved about. Honestly I'll come back because of the clams they were really good. They could be a little more giving with the tarter sauce and the staff seemed a bit busy but the experience was good. I would recommend some kind of sauce for the chicken to dip in and to spice up breading. It really didn't have much seasoning for me and was really plain. So, with an open mind... I went to the oyster bar... I had looked at the menu on line and knew I thought I could order the crab legs. My husband and I entered the bar... We sat down the booth. It's clean, everyone seems to be enjoying themselves, scattered around the restaurant. It seems to be a little busy around 2:30 or so in the afternoon. I look at the menu and decide I will purchase the calamari (which can go very well or really bad) and a pound and a half of crab legs. Hubby had the gumbo and the catfish fillet. The calamari was amazing and the crab legs were pretty dang good... hubby also enjoyed his meal, so we are pretty happy campers! First stop on our drinking and eating quest in Texas- oyster bar! This place was pretty decent for my first time here. We ordered shrimp cocktails, oysters, and fried catfish. Service was prompt and the restaurant had decent seating. You can actually peep towards the back of the kitchen from where I was sitting and see the chefs wrestling up the orders. Bathrooms were clean and we thought the bathroom doors had pretty cute clever signs. I think we ended up ordering two orders of the oysters on the half shell as they were pretty yummy. The fried catfish came out nice and crispy on the outside and melt in your mouth on the inside. They have quite a large selection of food in their menu but we didn't have a chance to try everything. Tried the Texas Pit Oyster Bar for the first last week during a business luncheon for four people and left the establishment somewhat impressed. Although I did not have the oysters this time, I was quite surprised to see how large of a quantity that you get for a reasonable price. So large was the quantity that my business associate had to get his oysters to go! The bar itself is very clean and comfortable. The food prices seemed to be very reasonable, and it was not terribly loud given the fact that the television was on and that there were dining customers. The server was very nice and courteous and made recommendations on a very good Calimari appetizer (the best that I've had in Fort Worth so far) as well as entrees such as fish tacos.
