Very fresh flowers! The selection is limited but I've always been happy with my arrangements. And they currently have peonies so run!:) They also have incredibly lifelike artificial orchid arrangements or separate stems. They look and FEEL like the real thing. Up close is the test and these pass! Four Leaf high rise uses them so there's a pretty good reference. The artificial orchids are pricey but so is replacing your $400 real orchids lol. I have used David Brown for years. Their flowers and arrangements are fabulous...until today. I don't know why the arrangement was shipped by some crummy FTD florist instead of delivered by David Brown to my mom here in Houston. The flowers were so bad we were able to laugh ridiculing the flowers. I would not go so far as to call it an "arrangement". You should never use that FTD company you referred the order to again. And next time I will call instead of using the website because something went very wrong. read more

My boyfriend bought me a flower arrangement from David Brown for Valentine's Day. He told me he went there, because he heard the flowers were great based on the recommendation of a longtime David Brown client. All I have to say is save your money. I received this extremely expensive arrangement on Valentine's Day (Feb. 14) and even then the flowers did not look fresh. The tulips look like they were on their way out , and lo and behold only a couple days later they were moldy and the petals had mostly fallen off the tulips. The other flowers also look on their way out. Honestly, I felt bad for my boyfriend. He spent a lot of money on these for them to mold a few days later, which I had never seen happen with any flowers I have ever had. It really goes to show that this shop's flower quality is bad. I will post photos of this on google reviews as I don't know if I can on yelp. What I recommend is that people go to Central Market and buy several bouquets of flowers and have the florist arrange it for you. Those flowers always last me a minimum of a week or more and also the design will not be as tacky as David Brown. You can chose the flowers to put in the arrangement. read more

It is more convenient and cheaper to buy flowers while you're shopping for groceries or at the flower shop in your neighborhood. After all, flowers are flowers, right? Yes and no. If you want a standard arrangement, many florists are similar so save the money. However, if you want someone with creative direction that thinks outside the box, this is your place. They specialize in arrangements for a space or room and designer/florist for weddings. They are also comfortable making design suggestions if you have a space or room you need to decorate. I have been so fortunate, a darling friend spoils me by sending glorious arrangements from David Brown on my birthday. For the last two years, I have been away on lengthy trips when I got the call from D.B. asking to make the delivery. Both times, I apologized and told them I'd let them know when I returned. Last year, my trip was extended until four months after my birthday had come and gone, but D.B. never lost patience or gave up. They called me over and over, and when at last I was able to return home, they cheerfully brought me a vase of stunning, spectacular flowers. This year, I happened to return right before Mother's Day, when flower prices soar. Despite peak demand, they brought what appeared to be an entire meadow of fresh beautiful flowers. The most beautiful arrangement I received during a prolonged illness was ordered by a friend in Washington who knew to call this wonderful florist. That was several years ago. I have used them from that point on. I just ordered flowers to be sent to a friend in North Texas. It is Friday afternoon at 2. Nathan worked hard to find a good florist in the area who would deliver on a Saturday. I ordered flowers to be delivered to a friend on Valentine's Day. They told me the minimum price for flowers on Valentine's Day was $150 plus a delivery fee of $30, no problem I understand this is a nice establishment with high quality flowers and florist after all. While placing the order, I asked for the delivery to be done before 3pm as this was when my friend would be leaving work for the day. The employee was very friendly and polite and assured me it was possible and that they would be delivered in the morning time. By 12:30pm when I hadn't heard from my friend, I called David Brown Flowers and asked if the flowers had been delivered or if they were still on track to be delivered by 3pm. I was told that they had already been delivered at 12pm. Ok great I thought! But by 2pm, when my friend had not mentioned the flowers I had to call her and ask in a roundabout way if the flowers had been delivered. She told me she had not received any flowers. I had to ruin the surprise of the flower delivery and was annoyed that they had not been delivered as I was told when I called earlier. Thankfully the flowers did get there at 2:30pm. The floral arrangement was very nice, however some of the hydrangeas were already withering and had to be thrown out a few days later. For the price I paid, the floral arrangement was alright, and it was disappointing that they told me the flowers had been delivered earlier in the day when they had not been. read more

I placed an order with David Brown Flowers a month before my party and then followed up with a reconfirmation call 2 weeks before. They never delivered the flowers! This is a really frustrating situation to be in when you have 100 people coming to your house, tables are set, but no flowers arrive. I had to run to HEB last minute to make the arrangements myself. My mother sent me flowers for my 50th birthday (called from Boston) and they were very awkwardly arranged, like the person putting them together didn't quite know what he/she was doing in terms of which sized flowers and which types of flowers go together. It was not professional looking or pretty. When she came to visit later that week and saw the arrangement, my mother called to register her dissatisfaction. The answer was: "this is our standard design." I would have expected a store of this purported quality to have far better customer service than this. Other florists would have welcomed the feedback and offered to send out something more to our satisfaction. Big negative all around. read more

My daughter (living in NYC) sent me flowers from D. Brown. $125 PLUS delivery. I received 2 hydrangeas ($5 retail) stuffed with white berries, Dusty Miller leaves, and 2 other "filler" plants. A $12 "bouquet" I would have passed up at my neighborhood Kroger. This was clearly a "the- client -lives- out- of- town and will never see the arrangement - let's use what's left over for this order" situation. I sent photos to the Manager - he blamed "the new girl" and agreed the arrangement was not worthy of D. Brown and INSISTED they would re-deliver on MONDAY an arrangement worthy of D. Brown and WORTH the $125 my daughter paid. (Oh - but they requested I return their plain glass vase when they redelivered!!) It is now Wednesday - not only did they NOT ATTEMPT to deliver - they didn't even bother to call. I'm sure after checking his files and discovering I don't drop enough business his way on a regular basis it wasn't worth the trip. My facts and my photos speak for themselves. I'm just sorry Yelp doesn't provide the ability to post ZERO stars. This florist deserves that. read more

I love the flowers and the design from David Brown. He has been in the Houston design scene for decades and from what I understand, really has no equals in town. I have always been impressed by not only the quality of the flowers, but also by the interesting containers he offers. If you cannot afford the best, then go to Kroger. read more

Valentines Day 2017. My husband called the day before at 10AM and requested Valentines Day delivery. The florist agreed. He spent close to $200. The arrangement was delivered the day before Valentines Day, despite instructions otherwise. The florist came highly recommended so this was the first time hubby tried them. The bouquet that arrived was not to my taste, but more important that that...the flowers were not fresh. The red roses in the arrangement were all turning and brown on the edges. Their was some strange hybrid of a tulip that was also turning brown. I called the florist and spoke to the owner. I stressed, just like another reviewer said earlier that this looked like a $39 bouquet from Kroger, and was also told that a replacement bouquet would be delivered, but not until after Valentines Day! The florist asked what I would prefer and I told him. OK, I waited and today the replacement bouquet arrived and it was identical to the former bouquet only with peach roses instead of red roses???? Again, the freshness of the roses was an issue. I told the florist that when I receive a bouquet, I don't expect the arrangement to look like it's already 3-4 days old. Oh well, money wasted. And I'm not sure about the reviewer previously who spoke about how "creative" this florist is. It seems to me they are a one trick pony. If I were a florist and I was redoing someone's order, I would really go the extra mile, as the customer requested. I wouldn't send the exact same bouquet, but in different colors. Sorry....I know this florist has been around a long time and holds a prestigious reputation in the Houston community, but I don't recommend them. I believe their issue is they pamper their regulars and just phone it in with new clients. BUT, we live in competitive times and they should be looking to dazzle everyone. read more
