I went to another dentist, and he was able to remedy the situation for a fraction of that cost and with a much less invasive procedure. The last straw was my interaction with the periodontist. He "consulted" with me by literally not looking in my mouth and uttering 2 sentences. Then he seemed angry that I didn't consent to have my tooth extracted during that "consultation." It's been several years now, and I still have the tooth. It didn't need to be extracted. Take from that what you will.

I've been to Gentle Dental three times so far. The first was to get the exam and x-rays done, and I have to admit, I was a little worried. The hygienist who did my x-rays scraped up my gums on the roof and floor my mouth by roughly placing the digital x-ray device, and, at one point, knocked it right out of my mouth by accident! If I hadn't reacted by opening my mouth to let it get yanked out, I worry I might have chipped a tooth... which, while I suppose would have been the place to have that happen, I wouldn't want anyway. She'd sworn after she knocked it out, and the swearing itself wasn't concerning (albeit unprofessional), but her demeanor was unsettling. At that point, I wasn't so sure about this. Their prices seemed really reasonable, and I did need to find a new dentist, but yikes... But then Dr. Ma came in and she was GREAT! One thing I can't deal with at the dentist office is being made to feel awful about the state of my teeth. I swear they're not THAT bad, but I should take better care of them, and it makes me feel nothing but shamed when I get scolded as a grown adult. When I told her that, and then possibly more than she ever wanted to hear about my life (sorry, doc) she was really considerate and made me feel so much more at ease. So I came back in for my second visit to get one small filling, which ended up being a) smaller than predicted and b) less expensive than it was supposed to be, so that was nice! And Tuesday, I came in to get one more done, and it was also a surprisingly pleasant procedure. I can't express I am so happy with my dentist, Dr. Ma! She makes me feel really at ease and is super friendly, and constantly made sure that I felt comfortable. If I could just see her all the time, that'd be A-OK with me. I can't completely give it five stars because of that x-ray thing, but I've had much worse and the price is right.

I have a severe dental fear. I made an appointment for a cleaning because they specifically had laughing gas advertised on their website. Well, guess what? After confirming with them on the phone beforehand this would be an option and going through the cleaning, they surprise me with "we don't do that here except for specific treatments :)" Why. Did. Your. Staff. say they did???? Why do you have it listed as an option on your website with zero mention of that small catch? They watched me literally cry in their office from my deep fear and sat there and kept insisting they couldn't. They straight-up tricked me to get me into their office. They also referred me to a different place saying "oh, they do laughing gas" only for it to be for nothing as the place they referred me to doesn't have it as an option whatsoever. They did not give a damn. Well, fast forward to last night. They called because of the initial posting of my review and apologized. I took the review down, thinking I had been a bit hostile, and asked about possibly getting an anti-anxiety pill before the appointment to get through it like most dentists are GLAD to give. Nope. Can't do it. No reason as to why, just that they don't want to, LOL. They do not want to help you with your fears. Telling someone to "not be scared" is honestly an insult and shows me this practice has zero understanding of how dental anxiety works. They just want your business. They don't care beyond that.
