Without his store front on Jefferson Street? I swear to God, I would think the world is ending. The quality of his jewelry knows no end! I have seen rare volcanic diamonds that could only be obtained by crossing the world over. Dave Nelson is one of those people that you rarely, if ever, come across in a lifetime. If you have jewelry that you need him to validate? He is always the first one to be generous enough to do it, even if there's nothing to validate in an endless pile. No one else does this, trust me, I have tried. When my mother passed from breast cancer? I had so much questionable jewelry and there was no one or where to go that would check it all, except Dave. He was there for me, professionally, and always has been. Dave is exceptionally generous. His son is also one of my very best friends. If I could cover all of the times that Dave was there for me as child? I would. How many times he put dinner on the table for me while I had none? How many times he stuck up for me to bullies? If I could leave 0 stars I would. Kathy is an unprofessional, rude, lazy person, and should be ashamed of herself. Got referred to David nelson from another private jeweler in my search of someone to appraise a ring for me. Asked Kathy a couple questions and after she heard about how my father set the stone she immediately got snotty with me and told me don't bring the ring in, and that she doesn't have time for this and hung up. Will never be doing business with these hacks ever again. Heard nice things about them just for that to be my first impression. Nice going Kathy. Will be telling all my friends and family about this and my family reaches wide Kathy. The ring you were gonna appraise was Johnny red Kerr's ring and that diamond out of the ring you could've slapped a big price tag on that for that alone on a different band. I've been shopping and getting my rings cleaned at David's for 4 years now. The entire team is fantastic and I've had great service ever single time. My wedding ring was custom made for less money than the mall jewelers and was made with better gold 14k, better color and clarity of diamonds. Better quality for less money was amazing! They welcome me to come in anytime to get my rings cleaned which I do with no pressure to purchase. Another really nice thing is that when I need my rings rhodium plated, it is complimentary and can be completed in one day. I hate to be without my rings, so quick turnaround time is appreciated. I went to this store based on a referral. They repaired a decorative pin for me and a belt with a large gem for my mother. Their work is somewhat expensive but I did not mind as long as it was successful. My pin was fixed in less than 10 minutes and fell apart within 2 weeks. The part they "fixed" failed and I ended up crassly fixing it myself. The prongs that held the gem on the belt failed the second time my mother wore it. The gem was lost as the prongs obviously failed. We spent hours looking for it. It was an original vintage piece from the 1960s and was expensive. The gem is fiscally irreplaceable. I strongly suggest you go elsewhere if you want something professionally repaired. read more

So don't trust this store. I went in on 9-29 and a very nice employee gave me a hand written quote for used jewelry basically for scrap and then a quote on my old wedding set. Quote was good thru Saturday. I go in today and David Nelson himself tells me well ya see I really don't want this stuff and there is chips in some of the diamonds. We'll duh it's used jewelry worn daily and then tells me I can only offer you 1/2 of what the lady the other day quoted me because "I really don't want this". Seriously? Who the heck does this guy think he is some customer service with this turned up nose attitude. I have purchased black onyx and had other jewelry redesigned by his store. I will NEVER again step foot in this jerks store nor will I ever tell anyone I know to shop there. David Nelson sold my son an engagement ring for $2,000, saying it was a great deal and was worth $2,600. A year later, the engagement was called off and Nelson wouldn't buy it back for any price. Took it to another jeweler who said it was terrible quality and worth about $250. Buyer beware. Get an independent appraisal. read more

I cannot even put into words how helpful David and his staff were to me. I needed my ring resized and was tired of getting the runaround from the jewelers my ring was purchased from. It put my mind at ease knowing that my ring would not be shipped out for the work. I had spoken with the owner over the phone a couple times and he kept his word on everything he told me. He quoted my ring a different price, but ended up giving me a lot more work than what I paid. I needed my ring back before I went to a family wedding, giving them a little over a week to get it done.
