We engaged Dave for an in-home photo session with our darling cat. It was a difficult time for us, in that she was near the end of her life and we wanted professional grade photos to remember her by. Dave arranged for a session on very short notice and was sensitive to our circumstances. He was responsive both in terms of promptly replying to calls and emails, as well as to our artistic requests. The session itself exceeded our expectations -- Dave quickly gained a good sense for our cat and how to make the most of her photo session, and he has a very good eye for light and background. And the photos are simply outstanding; we could not be more pleased with them. For the quality of work and the time he took with us, I felt the price was quite reasonable. Of course, it was easy to take photos of our cat with our camera and phones, but over her lifetime, we took maybe two that are of the caliber of Dave's work, whereas Dave gave us 30 outstanding shots. Now that she has passed away, it means so much to have a collection of photos, all of exceptional quality and contained on a disc, to remember her by. We had the fortunate experience of doing a day-long shoot with David Veit shortly before our beloved Corgi passed away. The photos are so beautiful; they bring tears to my eyes. I'm a pretty fair photographer if I do say so, but when Dave photographed our Westies, he got images that were totally different from anything I'd ever gotten and absolutely outstanding. Both of our dogs present challenges to a photographer. Sally is a Prima Donna and is picky about her human friends. She fell in love with Dave at first sight. Dickens adores everyone. The challenge with him is getting him out of your lap and into a photographic setting. Dave managed to photograph both of them in ways that showed their personalities off in the best light. His approach of presenting the dogs not just as photographic subjects, but as beloved individuals interacting in their own way with their own world is truly unique. I know that Dave typically shoots animals, however I had the chance to work with him on a outdoor boudoir session. A model had contacted me and asked me to do her makeup for the photo shoot and asked me to stay on set with her. Dave was completely professional and an overall fun guy to work with. So, when Dave took photos of my dog, I was excited to see the pictures when they came, but when I actually saw them they were beyond belief. The photos he took were from what I thought was like a mile away. They were action shots, and actually very intimate, like he was inches away from the dog. They were beyond belief. The depth of field and the amount of focus are spectacular. I've never seen anything like it. When I shared these pictures with friends and family they all thought it was as marvelous as I do. I have a very beautiful high quality print in my living room. It gets compliments from visitors all the time. To this day one of the pictures is my computer desktop background. Dave is a great photographer and knows how to deal well with dogs. I am a pet sitter, so I see a lot of dogs with very different personalities. The way Dave approaches the dogs and their owners is with the utmost respect. He has a calming personality, which is useful around dogs. What a fantastic experience. David definitely has the knack for shooting animals and in our case dogs. I ran into David about a year ago on Fiesta Island while walking with my two dogs. He took my e-mail and sent me a link so I could look at the photos. I had forgotten about them until I received a holiday e-mail from him, i looked through the archives and found my dogs photos. He took some amazing photos of my boys, truly captured both of their personalities. I emailed him about purchasing the photos and he got back to me the same day, even though he was spending Thanksgiving with his family out of state. He called as soon as he returned and we discussed the size of photos I wanted and how the photos would look best. He was not pushy at all and really explained his reasoning for cropping the photos a certain way etc..He knows his stuff. My husband and I wanted to include our dog in our destination wedding so we hired David to do an "engagement" type photo shoot featuring our pup. He was great to work with and helped us choose a location. He was well prepared and even checked out the setting beforehand so he didn't have to waste anytime finding a good place to shoot. David was great with our 90lb hyper active dog and took so many great pictures it was hard to narrow down our choices. Everyone loved the pictures at our wedding. Dave really knows how to get the best moments captured at just the right time and at the ideal places around town. He really is number ONE in his field. How he gets these dogs to pose for him like that, I will never know? Some of these dogs seem to stop in their tracks and give him exactly what he is looking for and exactly what his clients are looking for. He does excellent work! He is also very very nice and friendly guy who is easy to work with. He truly loves all animals especially pooches and cats and you sense it (so can your dog and cat) by the way he gets them to pose. I recently went to a dog show in Chula Vista, California. I am from Sacramento, so this was a journey, but a journey I took none-the-less. I was surprised to see a professional photographer on the grounds and as with everyone, hoped he would be able to catch 'that' shot of my dog. Well, he didn't disappoint. I have to say, I was not only impressed, but awed by the shot he was able to get. This picture is amazing. It shows perfectly the movement that is paramount to my breed. We met Dave at OB dog beach two summers ago. He took pictures of our dogs. We completely forgot about it. About two months after we met one of the dogs died unexpectedly. I remembered the pictures at the beach. It took me several months before I could even look at the site. I finally mustered the courage to look and cried for an hour as looked at the beautiful pictures of my Addie girl. It still took me several months to actually order the print. I finally did and it is a picture I will treasure. We will use and recommend Dave again in the future. read more

I was not at all happy with my experience with Dave Veit. He says on his website there is a questionnair, to make sure he knows what you want. I never was offered it or saw it. I scheduled a pre-session with my two dogs, so they would get used to him and more relaxed with him ($100). He fed them so many hotdogs for treats they threw up all night. The next day when we did the photos - he asked me 'should we do action shots or stills first?". I had no idea, i was actually only interested in stills, but thought mb doing some actions ones first would tire them a tad. They were so hot and tired, their tongues were hanging half way to the ground for all the still pics, and they were fomaing at the mouth. You think he should have known and warned me....what do I know - that is why i hired him. So..since I wasnt' happy with any of the photos - he offered to reshoot - but not complimentary like his website says, he was going to charge an Additional 75. It was a cloudy day, and had rained earlier - I left him a phone and txt message asking if the re-shoot was till on (I live 50 min from home and didn't want to waste a 1/2 day off if cancelled). No reply, so i took off to meet him. (his website says overcast days are the best). 15 min after we were suppose to meet i saw an email from him that he sent about an hour and a half earlier - (i usually don't have email access during day) - to cancel. He never bothered to text or call me - said he couldn't find my number - even though i texted him and left him a phone message that morning!. At this point i was frustrated (3 - half days off work - a couple hundred bucks out - and no pictures) I told him i just wanted a refund. He said he would, and that was 12/18 - it is 12/27 and still no refund. read more

David is a talented photographer and true professional! I asked him to do a photo shoot at Fiesta Island as a going away gift for my friend and her dog. He was very responsive through emails and showed up on time for the suprise photo shoot. I was very impressed by how David was able to engage the dogs (there were 3 all together!) and get really great photos. He had no problem getting down on the ground and putting himself in all kinds of positions just to get the perfect shot! He was incredibly patient with the dogs. I was most impressed by the fact that he went over the time frame we paid for to make sure that he had enough shots we would be happy with. The photos came out great! He really captured the dogs' individual personalities and was able to get some really unique shots. It is evident that David really loves what he does and truly cares about making his customers happy and doing quality work.
