It's been over 7 years since I wrote my original review and after all this time, i STILL cannot recommend Doug enough! Now that I work from home, I've only been using Doug for dog sitting. He is amazing with my dog--the only time that my dog doesn't care that I'm leaving him behind is when he is with Doug. Doug is so great, he sends me updates while I'm away to let me know how he's eating (my dog is a very picky eater) and sends me pictures and videos of Jameson playing with the other dogs. I'm moving out of state soon and I'm so bummed for my pup to be losing Doug. Thank you, Doug, for everything! read more

We lost our beloved 'Molly' in Doug's care. His service came highly recommended through a relative. We were to leave town to visit family in Los Angeles and trusted Doug with our furry family member's life for three days. On the second day, we received a call saying there had been a dog attack involving Molly; that one of the other dogs that was also being boarded, had attaked her. Though Molly was taken to ER for her injuries, she did not survive the attack. We lost our angel in Doug's care. We discovered that it was one of Doug's own pets that had attacked Molly. Though we reported the attack to the police and the Humane Society. Doug had argued that his dog was fighting in self deffence. Our Molly was a 6 lb. Yorkie that was a service pet for senior care facilities. Doug's dog is a 78 lb. Lab. Really !?!? One of his assistants felt horrible about what happened and mentioned similar events as happening in the past. The staff member had also said most of the possitive reviews on Yelp are from mock accounts that Doug and his staff posted. Please do your own research before trusting you pet with him. read more

Doug has been a part of our dog's life for the last 11 years. First as a dog walker, and now as a boarder for when we go out of town. Doug's house is a dog resort with outdoor play areas and places to lounge around. I know that my dog is safe and happy with Doug. If the thought of boarding your dog in a smelly place with cages totally freaks you out (as it does for us!), Doug's house is for you! Your dog will be treated as part of his family. We cannot tell you the peace of mind having Doug in our life has given us. He has always been there to care for our sweet dog when we have had medical emergencies and last minute trips. I found Doug online and started using him to walk my older rescue dog (quirky fella) and my younger dog when I work long hours. Not only does he work around my ever changing schedule, but he is so so so good to my little dudes. I get photo and text updates, so I never have to worry! He even gives me advice about certain things, so overall great support for my animal family. :) I definitely recommend using him to take care of your doggos. Doug is extremely reliable and really cares. I've heard nightmare stories from friends, so I am nothing but grateful for him!! read more

We cannot recommend Doug more highly!! Our dog Charlie is now a 10 year old mixed breed and Doug has been helping us take care of him since he was a puppy by walking him weekdays and boarding when we go away on vacation (it is such a great piece of mind knowing there is a safe and loving home where can stay). Charlie can be anxious around some dogs, but Charlie loves him and Doug is really good at knowing which dogs Charlie will get along with better. We love the pictures we get on their outings as well. I've used Doug's services for years. He's always been professional, on time, consistent, and fair. He took my girls out on fabulous walks and would send me pics of how much fun they were having. Boarding was also easy and fairly priced, and I knew my girls were safe and happy when they stayed with him. Doug is absolutely amazing!! We have left our dog with him for boarding while we've been out of town (one time for 2 weeks) and everything went perfect. His house is totally setup for dogs with a big yard where he plays with them and sets out a kiddie pool on hot days. The dogs sleep in dog beds loose in the house so no crates required. He takes the dogs he boards on the daily outings he does all around San Dieg and goes a different place each day. Your dog will come back tired for sure. He takes lots of excellent photos of all the dogs each day and posts them on his Facebook immediately so you can see all the fun your pup is having. His attitude is very laid back and he really loves dogs. Could not recommend him more for boarding your dog!! read more

Doug has been our dog walker 11+ years and has been super-reliable and is loved by our pets (he also takes care of our kitty cat when we're on vacation). Doug has been so easy to work with and he's always providing super-helpful suggestions for our rat terrier, Darla, who has a mind of her own. I have had the pleasure of using Doug's dog walking service and my little Maltese/shitzu, Matisse, has never been so happy. When I go away she stays in his home and is treated like a princess!! She gets to go on long, long walks with Doug and his other dogs he is caring for and has fun playing and hanging out with them. She sleeps in luxurious beds and eats the finest foods!! I have known Doug for several years and see him with his pets he services. He never has to many dogs at one time so that he can give them all the attention they need. Since I have a small dog I tend to be very particular who I leave her with when I am out of town. With Doug, you wont every have to worry. Since he is so experience and has so much knowledge about dogs he is able to tell how your dog will behave with other dogs at the park . He spent time testing Matisse to see if she listened to him off leash so that she could be free to run with the other dogs at the larger parks. He knew Matisse's behavior in one day which made me feel very safe because she is so small. Doug not only makes sure your dog has fun during their stay but he also makes sure they are feeling well. The last time I went out of town my dog had some fleas but it was to soon to apply the frontline to her. She had a bath prior to me leaving but the fleas came back during the week. Doug went out of his way to buy Matisse some expensive flea shampoo and give her a bath so that she felt more comfortable for the next two days she was staying with him. I also have a cat that Doug cared for at my home while I was away. He must have done something special to make my cat so happy besides feed her because this is the first time I have been gone where she hasn't been angry enough to pee on my bed spread!!! So as you can see, you will get more than you bargained for when you use Doug's service. His prices are reasonable for overnight sitting or daily walks. Even if you have to save your money a little before going on a trip so that you can afford his services, it is worth the price of not worrying about your pet because you know that Doug is a professional who loves his job and loves your dog!! I really feel fortunate to have Doug walk my little 8 pound LuLu. She is in his tender loving care 5 days a week. For the walk he takes her on, it is "off leash" with a small pack of dogs at any of several different parks during the week. He often takes pictures and sends me text message with a photo in it. It is a nice touch! I really feel LuLu is safe and with someone who genuinely cares about her well being. I have seen those dog packs on multiple leashes roaming around the 'hood. Doug's walks are just the opposite. He treats her like I treat her -- a queen! I know my dog leads a double-life. She has her pack during the day, roaming with her pack master. I just moved out to San Diego to start a busy residency program working 80 hours a week and was so concerned to find great care for my energetic lab, Gunner. Doug has been above and beyond the best caretaker for Gunner that I could ever imagine. He comes to walk Gunner 5 days a week and has boarded him several times over the weekend and on holidays. Gunner absolutely loves his "Uncle Doug", as he takes him on fun adventures all over San Diego with a pack of buddies. He also has an incredible turfed backyard that the pups love to play in. He always sends fun pictures of my pup when I'm at work, and the dog is absolutely exhausted when I come home. He clearly has a blast while I'm gone, which makes life so much easier for the both of us. Several other residents in my program use Doug, as well, and have nothing but rave reviews about his care of their pups. Whenever we go on vacation or need sitting for a night or two, we always go to Doug without hesitation. Doug is an amazing, caring, awesome, and cool dog walker. He walked our first baby - a huge gentle Rottweiler - and loved her almost as much as we did. We adopted Scout at 11 months and Doug was essential to her acclamation and training. He helped Scout to become a wonderful dog and spoiled her rotten too! We have known Doug for many years here in San Francisco. He has a natural compassion for animals, and knows how to bring out the best. We trust him implicitly. To us and our animals he was Uncle Doug. He walked our dogs, house sat for our dogs and cats -- sometimes as many as 6 of them living with us -- and protected all of them at all times. Doug is five stars all the way. Until we moved to Chicago last month, Doug took my boy Mako out every day and boarded him when I was away. Zoe my first dog and I have the pleasure of being Doug's first clients. I had adopted Zoe from the SF SPCA when I was out of work so had plenty of time to help her adjust to her new home but that honeymoon was soon over and I had to go back to working long hours. I was so worried about my sweet girl and was so lucky to find Doug. For 12 years he was a consistent wonderful, resourceful, responsible and last but not least very entertaining part of our lives providing the best care for Zoe I ever could have hoped for. He helped train her when she was a puppy, took her on long walks during the work week and lovingly cared for her in his apartment throughout the years during my many out of town work trips so I never had to board her. Doug is the best for animal care. When we've gone out of town and needed care for our guinea pigs, Doug has taken excellent care of our guys. One time one of the piggies got really sick and had to be assist-fed and given medicine. Unfortunately we had travel plans and couldn't be there, but Doug nursed him back to health in our absence. He saved our little guy's life. We've hired Doug for most holidays and other occasions since 2006, and feel really lucky that we can rely on him. My pup Gyzmo was a very discriminatory pup. She was a sweet old girl who was so loving and kindhearted; but she trusted very few people and rarely would want to leave with anyone but me. Somehow she loved Doug right away and was always happy to see him. Doug has a way about him that puts an animal at ease. It's as if each animal he comes in contact with has a sixth sense and can see through to his soul and they connect with him. Gyzmo trusted him. In her lifetime, Gyzmo didn't trust many. It was so impressive to see him interact with her. She was an old girl, so required a little more attention; sometimes help down the stairs or she may have an accident here and there. Doug always took it in stride and was at ease. I accompanied Doug on a few group walks and it is so refreshing to see a dog walker who cares about the animals they walk. He accounts for every animal; he picks up after every animal. He plays with them in the way in which each prefers and they listen to his verbal commands. As discerning as my pup, I did not trust my girl with many people for overnight visits. Our cats love Doug! He's a lifesaver when we need to go out of town. Doug expertly handles our elderly cat's elaborate medical routine (multiple daily pills, subcutaneous fluids), cleans up bizarre cat-related messes, keeps the cats feeling loved and entertained, and delights us with updates and photos of our kitties being adorable.
