Good BBQ in the most unlikely place. We came to Benaroya Hall to see 2001 Space Odyssey. Walked by David's and I said the movie is long, are u hungry? Well, answer was yes. They have plates and just BBQ by the 1/4, 1/2, 1 pound. The brisket is cut in chunks, not slices. But, it was quite satisfying and perfectly cooked to be tender and still have a meat texture. They serve dry so you add on the sauce yourself. This is one place where the meat outshines the sides and the meat isn't masked by being covered by sauce. The only negative is there's no atmosphere sitting in the lobby of Benaroya Hall, but hey I can have a bit of BBQ before a concerto. read more

Service was good. There is no ambience as the tables are in the hallway at Benaroya Hall. The food was OK for cafeteria style.

To the people that manage this place: Try harder. To everyone else: Airplane food is better than this slop. Don't eat here. It's very expensive for really bad cafeteria-ish food. Examples: Caesar salad was drowning in dressing. The grilled salmon was cold, dried out, and surprisingly fishy for salmon. Chicken smothered in blackberry jam - why? Overcooked haricots verts to the point of murky mush. Why your folks deemed this all appropriate to serve, I'm puzzled. read more

Showed up way too early for a lecture at Benaroya Hall, so decided to checkout Davids & Company for lunch. Upscale catering/cafeteria style, but on point customer service and incredibly tasty food. I was very impressed. The entrées ordered were $13 each and each came with a perfectly made green salad - fresh greens lightly tossed and garnished with a bit of Parmasan cheese. We selected the following: Beef Brisket with red beans, Pulled Pork with red beans (added drizzle of sweet BBQ Sauce), and Chicken Gumbo with andouille sausage and red beans/rice. The first two were inhaled, no chance for a photo. The latter was amazingly flavorful and generous with the chicken and sausage. Also added a Loaded Sweet Potato....bacon, melted cheese, sour cream and green onions ($5) and can of Coke and an iced tea ($2). There were also other offerings like entree salads, sandwiches, and a delicious sounding sweet potato bisque. Davids &Co was a great find at Benaroya Hall in downtown Seattle which was both convenient and delicious. read more

Prices were sooo high for what we got. The chicken marsala was deep fried and only tasted like oil. The mashed potatoes were cold. The carrots were the only redeeming feature. $22. My husband's caesar salad was dry, only had 2-3 shavings of parm, and had a whole pile of old lettuce he had to pull out. $15 (+9 for chicken). Not impressed. Won't be eating here again. read more

I haven't been to Benaroya Hall in a few years and was sad to see that Wolfgang Puck's restaurant was gone. However, it was satisfying to see that the void was replaced by a modern, PacNW chic, and well designed little bar-style cafe called Davids & Co. There was no line so I decided to grab a quick bite and was acknowledged and waited on immediately (much appreciated). I asked to partake in the smoked salmon ceasar salad (to go) which was swiftly made to order using fresh local ingredients. The salad comes with a lite and unique ceasar dressing (Yum!), a lemon wedge, smoked salmon, a hard boiled egg and some delicious croutons. The lettuce is fresh and crispy, cut to the perfect bite size and shows no signs of wilt. There are also two types of cheese hidden within the dressing -- some chunks of cream cheese (YES!) and the standard ceasar dressing parm shreds. As carbs are my arch nemesis, I usually avoid nomming on croutons (Ha, JK), but the croutons involved here are better than usual and tasted freshly baked or like they were prepared by Keebler elves. Smoked salmon was on point and not at all fishy. It could maybe be a little less salty, but definitely had a nice subtle smoked flavor to it. I was not sure what to expect with the smoked salmon and was assuming the actual to be "real" salmon chunks, but it was instead the smoked salmon strip sorts of things -- That's not to say strips don't molecular-ly constitute real salmon, but it's more like the strip model gives companies license to serve you less and call it more (or good enough). This was exactly the unfortunate case in this situation as I was faced with two pathetic rolls of salmon (mouthwatering rolls, but still). I have no problem paying 13 dollars for a salad, but two rolls of salmon is really not enough, especially if you put the word "salmon" in the name of the thing. By that definition, you might as well call it "egg ceasar salad." I don't want to draw comparisons between this place and Wolfgang Puck's, but they used to have a grilled jumbo shrimp salad and, well, you can see where this is going... Also, I had a coconut cookie thingy. It had shreds of real coconut in it, but it was extremely stringy and not all that pleasant to consume. Bottom line: Davids & Co has great branding and their ingredients are fresh, but some of the way the ingredients are blended or prepared is questionable. read more

Came to David's and Co with a friend for their special opening event and thought it was OK. I enjoyed the brisket and smoked mac & cheese. The brisket was tender and smoked well. The mac & cheese wasn't overly cheesy and cooked a little longer to my liking. The kale in the mac & cheese is a great combination. I wasn't impressed with the baked beans but did enjoy the Jicama slaw. I didn't find anything I must go back and have again but I may go back and try the chicken some time. read more

This is such an easy place to pick up a bite before an event at Benaroya Hall. A bit overpriced but convenient self service. They have a variety of options to choose from and usually a crowd pleasing dinner- think deliciously tender turkey, roasted potatoes and a green salad. Have tried their quiche, flavorful soups (add a roll!) and several other options. They offer glasses of wine and other beverages. Before last night I would have given them an unequivocal 5 stars but the (HUGE) southwestern chop salad although delicious was comprised of tired head lettuce which was brown on all the edges....sure it was tossed with a wonderfully seasoned dressing but was not fresh. Kudos for the staff, they are always friendly, patient, and efficient. Toss out the cut lettuce when the edges are brownish red.. the salad and the consumer deserve better! read more

Meat beans and corn muffin. Probably worth a return visit but I was underwhelmed. If you don't add sauce to the pulled pork you won't taste much. Beans were tasty but a little al dente. And I wondered why the pork seemed below safe holding temp. They can't be smoking this on site. read more

The loaded sweet potato is a must! Not to mention it is huge, delicious and only $5!!! Where can you buy a filling lunch for $5? {the answer in no where} They also have punch cards, buy four lunches and get the fifth free which is also unheard of. My friend and I had dinner before a show, we both ordered the gumbo dish which comes with rice and a side of salad and everything tasted fine. That night I felt nauseous almost felt like throwing up and could hear my stomach making bubbly sound, but just tried to sleep it off. Next day I had to go to the restroom several times and still by 2nd day. I spoke with my friend as well and she too had been going to restroom as well. I called the restaurant to speek with a MGR and left a msg to at least give them a heads up so whatever food that caused this they will be more careful with food handling (prep/cook) but he/she never called back. read more

Had dinner there tonight and the Chop II salad was not good. The kale was stiff, beans were mushy and the cucumber had tough skin. There was about a level tablespoon of mozzarella, two cherry tomatoes cut in half and 3 small peppers. There were two pickled eggs which were tasty, but the rest of the salad was not good. I also had a corn muffin and it was hard on the outside and dry on the inside. I wondered if they were leftover. Fresh corn muffins would not be this hard and dry. My Sister had the quiche which was kind of good, but there was too much sweet potato and not enough cartelized onion. We have been unhappy with the quality of food since Davids took over the concession at Bena roya Hall. After tonight I think we are going to bring some food in. We like to eat there, we just don't like the food. read more

Not a bad option for a pre-event bite, but WAY too salty. We were glad to be able to sit and have a quick bite to eat before our event. We split the gumbo which was a VERY generous portion plenty enough for two with a small side salad included. The gumbo was tasty and the rice had a great hint of allspice to it, but someone over-salted the roux big time. It's an upscale BBQ café where the dining tables are in the lobby area of Benaroya Hall. It's like Harried and Hungry in the sense that it's a catering company. I observed the customers in line. Most of them were in their retirement years. I ordered the smashed potato salad. It had grapes. The chicken was okay. The mac and cheese was okay as well. While I was eating I wished they played classical music in the lobby area since the atmosphere was stale and grey. I probably won't return since Chuck's Hole in the Wall and Mad Oven are closer to me. read more

This was my go to place for a few months when they first opened. The chicken was juicy and delicious. Today was the last day I will pay their outrageous prices for horrible food. The last two times I ate here, I just thought it was a fluke, that I got overly fatty portions, stale cornbread and old salad. I decided to give them one more shot today. Nope, not a fluke. Today the brisket I was served was nothing but fat. The ribs had about 3 bites of meat and the rest was fat. The side salad had chunks of wet old lettuce dispersed throughout and just tasted...OLD! HIGHLY disappointing! I took a client here and was thoroughly embarrassed! I used to recommend this spot to my coworkers, but will no longer do so. What a shame. $16 for a plate of greasy fat and old, stale, wet lettuce. GROSS! To be in Benaroya Hall you should up the ante a bit and think about the quality of the food you are serving, considering the amount of money you are charging. Burning a $20 bill would have been more satisfying. read more

Tasty, but not BBQ. I had the brisket & potato salad. Four stars for having a great pot roast, but I don't think anybody in any part of the country would consider this BBQ. There was no smokey flavor, and it was shredded. No sauce, no rub. It wasn't overly dry or tough, but it also did not melt in your mouth like a good slow-cooked brisket should. The potato salad was tasty and had grapes in it. Service was friendly and quick. Overall, I'd go back for good food, but I can't recommend it as a BBQ place since that was not BBQ. read more

What horrible service! We were treated like cattle hearing us around like they did. I'm just glad they didn't break out the electric prods! Then the communication was terrible. Go here...no, go over there... No, they don't know what they're talking about. You need to go back where you were before. After reading the reviews, we decided to go to Davis & Co for dinner before our concert. I wish we had gone to Jimmy Johns across the street instead. The amount of food you get for the price is ridiculous and the food was just OK....nothing to rave about.
