We were craving breakfast food this morning and thought we would give this place a try. I have a mixed review about it, and while I didn't hate it, I'm not sure that I would go out of my way to have it again. When we walked in we were handed menus and told to sit wherever we wanted. I've never had that happen before but I wasn't mad about it. The restaurant was pretty clean and there are a LOT of tables. They even have a private room if you have a really large party. We were greeted pretty quickly and drinks and food came out lightening fast. The one thing I can say that was 100% positive is that their service is FAST! I ordered 2 Eggs over medium with Country Ham, Home Fries, and a biscuit. I also ordered a waffle because I wanted to try them! The waffle was AWESOME! Light and fluffy, and perfectly cooked. My daughter agreed. My eggs were perfect and very good and the country ham was AMAZING. The home fries... this is where they lost me. The home fries are HUGE, and that means they are a lot like the end piece fries at Chick Fil A that everyone throws away. I like small home fries, and they just didn't even come close to doing it for me. The biscuits, this is pure speculation but they tasted and looked like canned biscuits. I'm not accusing them of not making biscuits, I'm just saying I would never go there for biscuits! My mom had coffee and said it was mediocre coffee at best, and wanted to make sure that was in the review! last, I think the prices were high for what we got. Prices are high everywhere but breakfast out shouldn't cost $40 for 2 people! read more

This is definitley one of my favorites in Thomasville! The Baked Spagetti has been one of my absolute favorites for most of my life! The pasta is always cooked great and most importantly they don't hold back on the amount of cheese on top! The sauce is always just the right amount too. I have been wowing people with my ability to finish the entire plate (which is quite large) by myself in one sitting. My family also loves their seafood dishes as well! I have to say this is a great spot if you like country cooking. Food was great. The issue came when the waitress never came to offer refills. We ended up asking another lady. I always give leanancy to waitresses because that's a hard job. However, 10 minutes is a bit too long to wait for a refill. Girls at register on their phones while everyone else is running around. Then when you pay they ask if you want to tip and how much. That should be my own choice and not broadcasted to people around you. Maybe it was an off night. read more

Came upon this diner and stopped for breakfast food around closing time in a Saturday afternoon. It was very clean, quite busy, and the food was good. My only complaint was the toast wasn't buttered and the sausage had a different taste (maybe a different spice ?) Filled with locals on a weekday including what might have been a Bible study, I had an excellent breakfast here. Free wifi and I even managed to get some work done. A really super omelet - green peppers, mushrooms and cheddar cheese - with real potatoes on the side and whole wheat toast where she remembered not to add butter to it. Perfect. After a challenging morning at the doctor's office, Mom and I decided to have breakfast at Sunrise Grill in Thomasville. What a great idea as it turned into a great experience! The service was great with a friendly and helpful waitress and the food was great! The bacon in particular was the best ever! I mentioned this to the waitress and, unbeknown to me, she spoke to John, one of the owners. John comes out, talks to us, and surprises me with additional free bacon! LOL! The bacon is really, really good and cooked to perfection. In our world today, this seems like such a small thing, but it's really nice to go somewhere (anywhere) where the service is good, the food is good, the prices are reasonable and has a down home friendly feel. I've been going to Sunrise for a long time but not very often. Even though I live a city over, I will make a point to go back whenever possible. Thanks Sunrise! read more

The Diner was packed this morning. Upon entering, we stood beside a table that needed to be cleaned. A waitress rudely told us to go to another table that also was not cleaned. The 1st table we went to eventually got cleaned and before we could move to it a family came in and sat down. Their drink order was taken and our table still had not been cleaned. Very unsanitary conditions! After about 30 minutes our table was cleaned still no menu. Another 5 minutes we get menus another 10 minutes our drink order was taken(1coffee/1oj). Another 10 minutes our food still not ordered. We decided to leave. The wait staff I realize is short-handed but that does not give them reason to be rude and very unprofessional. Doubtful we ever try eating there again. read more

One of the best sit-down restaurants in Thomasville. They've been in the same location in Thomasville for as long as I can remember. The prices are fair, they have daily specials and the staff is always friendly. The seafood is exceptional! It's one of my favorite things to order. Wow! Now THAT'S what I call a good ol' fashioned home cooked southern dinner! I'm a picky eater, and everything was my kind of perfect. Not fancy, just simple yummy! All the food you see was for 2 people and only $16 before tax and tip. Next time we can get one meal and still have left overs. HUGE portions! My husband had fish, shrimp, fries and a salad. We have only been here for breakfast, but the breakfast prices are reasonable and tasty. My favorite is the Southwest Omelet, which comes with salsa, and a choice of breakfast potatoes and choice of biscuits or toast. In addition, we have tried the tenderloin biscuit is large and very tasty. Pancakes and waffles are good, as well as the egg dishes. Every time we go there, the place is filled with happy locals. Left sir pizza and came here, such a stark contrast in experience it isn't even funny. Sunrise is fast-we were in and out in less than 30 minutes which is quite a feat with two small children. Sunrise is inexpensive-you can add a salad or soup and a side to your sandwich and come out for around $8 or so. Best of all though, Sunrise is delicious. Been here a couple times and food is great! Highly recommend the hot chips and wonderful homemade ranch. Two deluxe meals, kids meal, and drinks was $26, you cannot beat the cost or the quality in the area. read more

I rarely complain about things unless they are blatantly wrong so here we go. I asked my server if I could get flounder and shrimp on the $13.95 seafood combo special for that day (pointing at the items in the special square on the menu). My server replied yes! I said ok I'll take that. My wife ordered and grilled chicken salad but didn't want tomatoes, croutons or crackers (she has to eat gluten free). The food came in a timely manner and was ok. The salad had no cheese and the server said that would $1.00 extra (even though we took off the other stuff) but that's not the real problem here. My ticket comes and my $13.95 special is $15.50. so I asked why it's $15.50 INSTEAD OF $13.95. The first answer from a server that was not ours was that they have had price increases. Well, the menu hadn't had price increases. So the manager I assume came by ask asked how everything was and I told him this story. He said the special was for baby flounder and shrimp and I got regular flounder. That's BS. I pointed right at the flounder and shrimp in the specials box on the menu when ordering and said "Can I get flounder and shrimp on this combo special?" So he said next time I needed to specify baby flounder and shrimp and I politely informed him that there wouldn't be a next time. DON'T GO HERE UNLESS YOU WANT TO BE OVER CHARGED! For $1.55 they lost a customer forever and I will continue to tell everyone that I know of this blatant issue that could have easily been rectified and I would still be come there to eat. I don't take being screwed lightly. It's not about the $1.55 it's the principle. read more

Passing through and wanted something better than a hotel breakfast. Glad we did. Great service! Our coffee cups never got more than a third empty. When I counted the empty creamer containers I figure I had 3 good cups of coffee with breakfast. Didn't need to drive, could have sprinted beside the car the first 50 miles! My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our meal here. The fried popcorn shrimp were the best ever! The hush puppies, coleslaw, french fries and tarter sauce were all outstanding. We are new to the area and wanted to sit down to a good dinner. We were pleasantly surprised at the extensive menu, it seems like if you want it they have it. The waitress was very nice, the food was excellent and the portion sizes can't be beat. The senior menu is great and even those portions are large. Great home cooking and the prices are very good as well. We have been back several times and every visit since our first visit did not change, it was excellent every time. I never heard of a diner with a drive thru window, but it's there! I highly recommend it to everyone! read more

Received a juice and found after chugging it (therefore was not backwash) large white specs of material in the cup. Waitress got my girlfriends drink and walk away as I was giving her my drink order (doesn't know how to do her job) overall looks good but looks can be deceiving, so we went to Waffle House got our food in less time then we waited at sunrise actually got STRAWS!!! and our waiter treated us excellent and actually made me laugh!!! When you see waitress's call customers by their name that means they come back a lot.Can't blame them I've had some pretty good ones there myself.The tenderloin special is on the top of my list.It comes with two pieces of meat two eggs grits or hash browns, toast or biscuits. If that's not a meal I don't know what is.....They make a mean omelette, pancakes, and waffles. I've had a BLT once or twice, no complaint's here. If you are coming in on the highway, this could be an option beyond just the normal fast food. But this isn't a place I could really recommend. I ate lunch with about eight people so I saw a variety of dishes - an omelet with shredded hash browns, a chef salad, burgers, etc. I got their chicken sandwich with BBQ sauce, cheddar and bacon. It was actually pretty decent! The fries were hot and relatively crisp but just your usually frozen variety. I thought you got a lot of food for the money! But the food is all very cheap quality and the place inside is drab, out dated and, the biggest no-no for me, it was dirty!! Honestly, I probably could have gone three stars except for the lack of cleanliness. The worst part was the bathroom which was absolutely disgusting and very smelly. I'll leave it at that. Stopped in to avoid the usual roadside fare. This place is locally owned and tun, which fit the bill. They need to try a little harder, though. Hunts ketchup on the tables was the first warning sign. House salad = shredded iceberg with a diced tomato. Son's cheeseburger was a hockey puck. Competing with the chains does not have to be a race to the bottom.
