I don't think there is a better flavor of ice cream than strawberry. And I don't think there exists a place that makes better strawberry ice cream than the Davis Creamery - and I've tried A LOT of strawberry ice cream. Sure, this may only be my "opinion" and not "objective fact", but I do believe if you're craving ice cream the Davis Creamery is the place to go. My only complaint, of course, is that they don't always have the strawberry ice cream I go there for. Though in that case, their "trifecta" flavor does a pretty darn good job of soothing my omnipresent cravings. In town from Sacramento and was craving a sweet treat before heading back after spending a day strolling around. Quick service, and the flavors are SOO good. Both peanut butter Oreo and lemon poppyseed were 10/10 but PB Oreo is genuinely a 1000/10 soooo good. Also got a mini pistachio macaron sooo good too but a bit pricey for being the size of a quarter lol. My total for 2 scoops & mini macron was $8 something. Would recommend! read more

Love this ice cream place! Their specialty is in their exciting flavors. I got the Thai tea ice cream and the rose cardamom ice cream. I loved both the flavors. The Thai tea ice cream tasted just like That iced Tea (perfect sweetness). In the Rose cardamom ice cream, I could taste the cardamom more than the rose. I loved both these unique ice cream flavors. Note that they do allow you to sample their flavors. They have different set of flavors each day. Service was friendly and quick. Ambiance is casual. Super great place. Every flavor we tasted was awesome. I ended up getting coconut avocado, which sounds iffy but is amazingly good. They also have traditional flavors and extras like cookies. The flavors are unique, innovative and go well together - I had blueberry lavender, portions are ok. Shop is a good size, lots of exotic flavors, but missing some of the basics like Strawberry, etc., which my son likes. The ice cream is light and almost fluffy. Coming from Santa Barbara McConnell's country, Davis Creamery is for me, lacking that dense buttery creaminess and high fat content I associate with really fine ice cream. I was on my way back to Sacramento from a hike and I stopped by one of my favorite places I used to order from a long time ago when my partner at the time went to school here. This place used to be a gem, but I think it has declined a bit. The service was not as friendly as I remember, the single scoop was the smallest scoop of ice cream I've ever received from any Ice cream parlor, and the texture of the ice cream was like a brick, and the actual ice cream, lemon with golden Oreo tasted like it had freezer frost in it. I didn't sample it before buying it, which I probably should of. Hopefully the owner sees this post and at least corrects this quality of the product a bit. read more

I've come here a lot since I was a freshman in college, and came back about 1.5 months ago. They always had some of the more interesting flavors in town, and each flavor always hit the mark. I mean, my most memorable flavor was pumpkin ice cream, which definitely tasted like pumpkin!! Except all the ice cream flavors are not too heavy, and the texture is wonderfully creamy. Before the pandemic, they always let you sample their ice cream, but since we can't do that anymore for obvious reasons, you can opt for an Ice Cream Flight, which lets you try 4 flavors for about $6.50? Just have to be careful to eat quick or the flavors will melt into each other. Even so, it will surely be tasty, since their ice cream is so good. Their ice cream's consistency and texture is seriously so wonderful, I remember coming here so often when I was in school! They also have interesting competitions between flavors, forgot if it was seasonally or annually, but those flavors are always worth checking out too!! I used to very hesitant about its place because of how many times they have changed their names (somehow I've always equated with name changing as not good??). But recently, I think this place has become my favorite ice cream place in Davis (after the Good Scoop closed) for many reasons. Davis Creamery is probably one of the places I would say everybody should go to when visiting Davis. They have very unique flavors that you can't find anywhere else. I also love how they give their customers the opportunity to create the next flavor and they even have a bracket for which flavor of ice cream is most popular. My favorite flavor here is coffee oreo; it has everything I ever want in an ice cream flavor - coffee + cookie. I also like that they allow you to have samples (and don't limit your samples) for the occasion I feel like venturing out of my comfort zone. ALSO, on my most recent visit I learned that you could get the sugar or cake cone for FREE! Heck yea, I want a cake cone to go with my ice cream. read more

My gf got a scoop of Cream Puff Filling ice cream and I got a scoop of Peanut Butter and Jelly ice cream. I didn't know what to expect before trying this flavor that was new to me, but after trying it, I would hands down get it again. The PBJ flavor infused into the ice cream was absolutely incredible. Not sure how I never found this ice cream place before, but now that I have I will be back! Davis is our 1/2 way point for eating on our return trips from Tahoe. After eating dinner the other day, I wanted ice cream and found this one on yelp. Being winter it was quiet and the flavors were interesting but not a lot of ones that really spoke to me. However I found a chocolate peanut butter one and my daughter had a flavor that had butterfinger and some other candy in it. She would have loved it when she was younger but now in her mid-20s she has realized she can't do the truly sweet flavors anymore, so remember that when ordering ones like this. Mine was very creamy and had good flavors so I knew I was eating both chocolate and peanut butter. And it wasn't overly sweet, just the right amount of sweetness. I really miss this place. I would frequent Davis Creamery with friends when I was a student at UCD. One of the best parts was dollar scoop Mondays. I think it was technically $1.25 or $1.50 and I'm sure prices have changed again since then. In any case, it was reasonable for the quality of the ice cream. I don't think you can wrong with any of their flavors. In fact, the hardest part is choosing! Thankfully the employees were always really patient when we'd ask to sample multiple flavors. One of the highlights of Davis Creamery was their annual ice cream bracket. It's fun to try the unique flavor combinations they come up with and watch as your favorites advance. A couple of my favorites from it were Trifecta and Thai Tea. I definitely plan to stop by for tasty ice cream and nostalgia next time I'm in the area. read more

This is a great spot for desserts in Davis!! It's located right next to Thai Canteen. I was under the impression that this place is solely ice cream. I was very wrong for thinking that. There's candy, caramel apples, cupcakes, macarons, milkshakes, and so much more. Also, for those who are lactose intolerant or vegan they do have sorbets here. Davis creamery also carries vegan truffles. I really enjoyed the salted caramel truffle. It can be busy so don't be alarmed if you have to wait a bit to order or you can't find seating inside. My favorites are Coffee Oreo, Ube, Cherry Chocolate chip and black tea with shortbread cookies. The ice cream here is not only bursting with flavor, but has a very creamy texture to it, as ice creams should in my opinion. They rotate flavors quite often, so it's not boring. The ice cream is not too sweet (to the taste buds), but I know it still is (to the body) because I always gain weight the next day after eating the ice cream from here (tears, but so worth it). You can buy it as scoops in cup/cone (including waffle cones), pint or quart sizes. Everyday of the week, they have a special promotion of sort (i.e. $ 2 off quart, etc). I've gone here with my family about 4 times this summer. The ice cream is fantastic. Vegan and non-vegan are lovely on a hot summer day. My only complaint is... can they get the portions consistent? I ordered two mediums one day and they overfilled the cups so the ice cream was just under the domed lid. A couple weeks later I ordered a medium and they filled the cup exactly to the rim, which is about half the amount. I'm not one to nitpick, but that's a big difference. All in all, I give it 5 stars for the nice staff who consistently wear masks, the place is clean, the ice cream is delicious and the flavors are interesting and different (in a good way!). read more
