Called Dave about our garage door Friday, just before the end of the business day. He was out Monday afternoon to look at our door and see what was wrong with it. Didn't try to oversell us, was happy to just replace rollers if we wanted to install a new motor ourselves. We ended up deciding to have him replace the rollers and motor, since his price was fair, he clearly knows what he's doing, the motors he had available were good, and we were eager to be able to park in our garage again. Thank you to Killian who came out to look into some garage door problems-loud screeching and intermittent power issues on an old unit. Was able to get service scheduled for the day after speaking to the office. He called to give me a 15 minute heads up before arrival, figured out what was wrong and when the door completely stopped working during his testing (40+ year old operator unit finally died) he was able to run back to the shop, get a new one, and have it installed quickly. Davis Door was an absolute miracle for my small condo building. They were the second company I called after our commercial garage door started making a loud noise. Merely by being ethical professionals, Davis Door Service was the utter opposite of the first company I called. Look at this contrast! The first company was terrible. They sent a tech who had to be talked through the diagnosis over the phone and then misdiagnosed our issue, saying we needed to replace the operator (motor) because it was too old. In addition to a call-out fee, they billed us an extra hour of labor for "travel time," a charge which was *not* disclosed when I called to ask them about rates. Then they sent the estimate to replace the operator to an obviously misspelled email address, and instead of following up via phone, just kept emailing the wrong address! Eventually they sent the $6000 estimate to the correct address. But thank god the first company screwed up so badly, because that motivated me to start looking elsewhere. Believing we needed to replace our operator, I contacted Davis Door to ask them how much that would cost. Unlike several of the other companies I talked to, Davis Door was willing to send an estimator out, free of charge, to put together a bid to replace the operator. But when he examined the equipment...it turned out the operator was perfectly fine, with many years of service ahead of it! The issue was actually with the brake system, a comparatively minor repair. Their estimate was approximately $550 to replace, and they politely suggested - but didn't push - for us to have a general maintenance/cleaning/replacement of minor pieces of the various garage door parts. We agreed to both services. The Davis Door Service techs showed up literally the next day, zoomed through the work, got the door to be quiet again, and were knowledgeable and pleasant conversationalists. Now, I don't know anything about garage doors. Even though they seemed sketchy, I believed the first company's diagnosis, and Davis Door Service could have *absolutely* scammed us into buying $6000 worth of motor by pretending they believed it, too. But Davis Door Service did the ethical, upstanding, professional thing by not pushing unnecessary service on us. We're signing up to have them provide annual maintenance on our door, and we will certainly go to them first for any emergencies and when major components need to be replaced. I don't know why their star rating is so low on Yelp, but if you look at *all* the reviews, you'll see that a lot of people have had good recent experiences with them. I can't recommend Davis Door Service enough. They should be your first call. read more

Davis door installed two garage doors for our condo twenty years ago. It has been our service company One motor failed about seven years ago and we replaced it. two years ago we were told to retrofit the unit, which we did. The past year or so, the unit has failed at least four times and we kept changing the motherboard. Ricky called and told me they don't want to change the board again, likely to be a building issue. I told him that his guys have checked the voltage every time and said was fine. Basically he wants us to change another motor within the hour and pay without guaranteeing if it will have issues in the future. They are only willing to warranty for a year. I am upset with the attitude and approach to the service. Very unpleasant, trust me we don't want to call every month for your service. Since the company install, service and replace it, why should the customer be blamed for having to change the motherboard. read more

Poor customer service and repair person broke the electrical outlet while on site and walked out stating "he couldn't do anything". Now I am stuck with the bill for the electrician. When called, they were no help and did nothing. Save your time and money and call a different repair service. read more

We have a large warehouse with a huge roll-up door and a heavy glass entrance door. Each time we have had any issues with either one of our doors they have responded promptly and fixed them quickly at a reasonable price.
