Genuinely the best bowling alley that I have ever been to. Staff are so kind and friendly. Davis lanes is the best!!

My husband and I with our son went to visit my brother and his family and we decided to go bowling to take the kids out. We really enjoyed our time here, the nachos and fries were very good, quite enjoyable. We were at this location for HOURS haha and even though the employees weren't as nice, we still managed to enjoy every moment here. I would recommend this place to have a good family time, I would comeback to this location regardless of the lack of customer service, I might venture out and check out other locations but this would still be an option. read more

Davis Lanes - Bowling Near Me - Layton, Utah

Pretty fun place, but also pretty pricey. I think my main complaint was how often the lane had a glitch. Such as not clearing pins for several minutes, etc. Not as fancy as other places with the auto bumpers. THey are manual, so they are either 100% up for everyone, or 100% off. You can't have them up for some, off for others. We paid for the x6 group for an hour... We couldn't even complete one game, and we were going pretty fast. I'd say at least 20 minutes of it was glitches, waiting on pins to be cleared, etc. The price of i think $45 for the 1 hour group, i'm surpised that boondocks is actually a little cheaper, (and the fancier lanes with auto bumpers). read more

Garbage. Go to spare times. Dishonest about forgetting to put us on their list. Bumpers don't pull up. Very unorganized. Look at their rating. The only way they'll get better is if we refuse to bowl here until they get their act together. Go somewhere else. read more

Love the esthetic here! Its definetly one of the top lanes in Utah in this respects. It's got a very old school bowling alley feel. Neon lights, wood walls, art, coland bowling paraphernalia everywhere. The cafe has a pretty wide range of food options for a bowling alley, and the food was pretty good! I got a bacon cheeseburger and cheese curds The lanes were great, mine never broke down, and I didn't see too many others break down. If it wasn't 40 mins away from me, these would 100% be my go to lanes read more

This was my favorite visit to Davis Lane and I had a fantastic time. Bowling was great and we had a great time getting right in. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful throughout our visit. After bowling, we headed to the bar in the back, where we met an amazing and friendly bartender named Chantel. She kept us well-stocked with drinks throughout the night. The service was top-notch, and I highly recommend Davis Lane for a fun and enjoyable experience. I'll definitely be returning! read more

Came in to bowl for open play. Was put on a wait list. Watched several people come up and "get one more" several times and were not told "sorry theres a wait, we need the lanes... " 5 of 24 lanes were broken and not working. This seems like a poor business model, especially for the only house in layton... probably wont be coming back... ETA: balls consistently get stuck. Equipment is NOT maintained well... avoid this house if you value ypur personal gear. read more

While bowling during Monday night league we ordered supreme nachos from the cafe and while eating them became horrified as we saw what appeared to be dark black/dark green rot on the chips. We took the platter back up to the cafe and showed the employee working there who appeared disgusted as well. We told her we hoped we didn't get sick and at the very least she could refund what we paid. She said we'd have to talk to her manager during the day. That is unhelpful and bad training to begin with. Two days later I called because I had been suffering terrible pains and digestive issues from this food. The management said they could not refund my visa (whaaaaaat?) and would put the money in an envelope with our name on it for pickup the next Monday night. OK...I guess we could accommodate their strange business practices. No apology or asking if we were all right. No talk of discussing with employees better food handling practices, considering they had to have seen the chips and continued to make the nachos over the rotten food! Nothing about better refund practices on the spot when someone returns clearly rotten food! So we ask at the cafe and they have no idea about the refund, they send us to another desk who has no idea about the refund and tells us to speak to management during the day. This is terrible to make your weekly customers jump through hoops after being made sick by their food by charging us for the rotten food! What an insult to injury. We want everyone to know about their unsanitary food handling and to protect your health if you choose to bowl here! We will be contacting the Utah Health Department as well. Turn Back. The Hands. Of Time. Yes, this is your parents' bowling alley. Dated decor, dated seating, dated diner counter..... and we LOVED EVERY SECOND OF IT. This is what a bowling alley should be. You don't need strobe lights and neon / fluorescent colors all over the place. You need dated VCT tile and a disco ball. This place has it. We at lunch here and I had a remarkably good bacon cheeseburger. The minion inhaled the chicken fingers and fries so they were tasty as well. Crushed ice was a bonus in the drinks and the lady at the counter was as sweet as can be. They don't appear to have a huge selection of bowling balls but the place isn't big enough of busy enough to require a monster selection. They only have one kid ramp which was a pain but we made it through. The shoe selection was good with velcro closures and they have shoes to fit the littlest of feet. We liked Davis Lanes. Good place to get your Kingpin on. read more

I'm surprised that Davis Lanes has such a low rating on Yelp. It's a bowling alley. You don't go to bowling alleys with high expectations. You go to bowl. The lanes are well maintained and the technology is up to date with other bowling alleys in the area. The only critique is a self critique. Years ago, I bought a pair of bowling shoes but didn't get a bowling ball. Going to a bowling alley and trying to find a bowling ball that is the right weight with finger holes that fit is pretty tough. I was able to find a ball that worked but it took some digging through the racks. It was a reminder to get my own ball. read more

Lol, this place is awesome. It really brings back "the good ol days" vibe with the atmosphere. It's a chill place for easygoing people. If you read some of these 1 Star reviews they are pretty funny too. Glad some of them are finding other places to bowl to be honest. This place is a good easy going hang out spot. They claim to have a family deal on Mondays, but it ends at 3. I guess it doesn't apply to working parents or school age children. They only care about leagues and not families or the general public. We won't be returning. read more

I am not sure why the reviews for this little bowling alley are so bad but I am not a local. We came in on a snowy Friday afternoon and it was the first time I had been bowling in 6 years (unless you count the Wii). You pay for the games after you play and this is the first bowling alley I have been to that did not ask for one of my own shoes as collateral for theirs. To be truthful, I love the look of retro bowling alley shoes and if they were actually comfortable, I would consider owning a pair. We ended up playing 4 games in total and I knew I would suck but did not expect to break a nail (yes, I know how this sounds) and even though I was in the gutter more than my mouth I had a great time. They take cash and credit cards and like a certain Yelper friend of mine, I will tell you I paid with my Discover card. They do have a snack bar and the ice for the soda is the crushed kind and that alone deserves a star. I'd come back here for sure. read more

Full disclosure: I have been league and open bowling at Davis Lanes since I was eight years old. I am now 31. This will be my last season. A few years back (10? my memory fails me) Davis was bought by some business men that had no idea how to run a bowling alley. They put in new carpet and remodeled, but only ever cared about open bowlers and "extreme" nights. Since that time the quality of the customer service has plummeted, the "perks" for league bowlers have vanished, and any decent employees have been let go. The owners rehire the entire staff every two or three years to keep their operating costs low, but never retrain the new hires only to leave them in charge with no idea how to run things. I don't expect much out of a bowling center, but somehow Davis Lanes has underperformed to even my lowest expectations. read more

Customers beware. I was really disappointed with the Davis Lanes snack bar operation on Fathers Day 2022. Firstly, there was a sign at the register to say it would open at 4:00 pm. When we asked after 4:00 pm when they'd open the reply was "I don't know". It eventually opened at 4:45 pm. Really? I ordered a couple of items at 5:00 pm. At 5:35 pm I asked when it would be ready and the girl working on the register monitor said it's being served up right now. LIE! Fifteen minutes later I had to collect my order, even though other customers had their food delivered to their table. The fries were stale and the chili was cold. What was most disappointing was at no time did the staff apologize for the slow service. Awful and terrible customer service. I will NEVER visit Davis Lanes again. There was no excuse for the service received. Invest in some customer service training for staff because it is truly lacking. Lacking big time. The business hasn't replied to my email. Davis Lanes Has turned me away twice now (On a Sunday afternoon + Monday Evening for having all there lanes filled up and not letting us open bowl there, no post online letting us know in advance or postings on the front door. ) We ended up going to Syracuse Rush who had plenty of open lanes. Note to the douchenogger behind the counter...don't come barking at me about your 6lb balls harming your poorly maintained bumpers because you can't run your business right and make improvements. Your bumpers are probably 40 years old and the equivalent of bouncy balls and balsa wood held together by rubber bands. Have some situational awareness for a guy with his own equipment, do you really think I hit your bouncy ball & balsa bumpers on purpose? The blonde lady at the front was completely rude multiple times. She was not accommodating at all and didn't even try to help us but only got mad at us more than once for "being in the way of leaguers trying to use the bathroom." When in reality she was the only person that ever walked by. We used to love Davis Lanes and went there quite often but after this we may never go again. read more

Spent half our time waiting for the ball return to send back our ball. We wont be coming back here the equipment was as old as the building if not older, it took so long I kept looking for someone to be manually setting up pins and walking our balls back to us, that probably would have been faster than their machines doing it. read more

The lanes are in good condition and the equipment works well. I've found the staff to be especially helpful and knowledgable. If leagues are scheduled in the evenings, you can't find an open lane, of course, but my only real criticism is that on weekend evenings they turn on flashing lights for "disco night," which to me is a big, unwelcome distraction from the bowling. Ask for Carl if you want to buy a ball or get help with your game. read more

Not impressed! My family and I went here for a family members birthday party, bringing 15 family members, paying for bowling games, shoes etc. We were stopped at the door and told we could not bring in our own food. We had 15 cupcakes and a gallon of ice cream. I had said we had been there before for a party and brought our own refreshments, they said no if you would have booked a party, paid full price then you could. Money hungry does not send me back! As far as the overall quality of the lanes go, i would give it a 5/5. But, where the alley loses its 5/5 is in the quality for your average bowler that goes bowling once ever 2 years, i dont have this problem because i have my own ball and shoes. But, when i didnt have my own ball and i went here i found it incredibly difficult to find a house ball that fits right, because they seem to have no system of organization, and you have to stick your thumb in every single ball to make sure it fits right. The $1.50 per game on sundays deal is nice though, because i also have my own shoes, but it is like 3 bucks for shoe rental if you dont. read more
